Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

I’m eating well today. I’ve had a great hike, around a big lake and a few small up and downs. I’ll probably have cold chicken and veg for dinner. Perhaps an afternoon snack if I feel hungry, maybe a few nuts.

Galvantula · 22/11/2019 06:33

@fallfallfall oo I'm loving the idea of a smart scale.

Not sure I could justify it as my bargain Salter 'body fat' scales are in fine working order Grin

I got them for less than a tenner on some random Amazon offer.

I'm curious what will happen to my weight as I get back to eating normally. Still more than 2kg down since Monday weigh in. I did eat a bit more yesterday, but barely made 800cal I reckon. Blush Must do better today! Strange problem for me.

BustedDreams · 22/11/2019 08:11

Morning All

@ConfusedAndStressed95 I have a smart scale. It’s an Aria and its connected to my Fitbit App. Even though I no longer use a Fitbit devise I can still track my weight via the app. I like them :)

I’m still on a downward trend after my undeserved 7lb gain. In 4 days I seen a 4lbs drop. Now weighing in at 144.2lbs. It was definitely something to do with the increase in my thyroxine meds.

@Galvantula they say losing the weight is the easy bit and maintaining is the more difficult phase. Generally I think the idea is to develop a sustainable eating plan that you won’t gain on. I know, easier said than done. Balance & moderation with the odd treat chucked in.

@MrsJonesAndMe well done! All the boxes you ticked yesterday are beneficial!

@SunshineCake I’ve enjoyed my week so far on the veggies & eggs. Yesterday I took some mashed up roasted butternut squash, added some cream cheese, grated cheese, 2 eggs, powdered psyllium husk (sp), seasoning and make a pancake cross omelette type thingy. I had it with a side garnish of Hariss paste mixed with Greek yoghurt. It hit the spot. The mix I made was enough for 2 so it’s the same again for lunch today Grin

Hope you all have a great day! Tick tock 39 days!

That sounds lovely BustedDreams but intolerances make it hard. I have started to try some things as it was getting me down so taking it gradually will be the plan.

I am 1.4 lb down this morning but it's not a win as it is losing what went on last week.

Feeling very emotional today. Someone abused my friendship a couple of months ago physically and emotionally and I blocked and deleted them. While playing on my phone I saw there is a section for blocked messages and they had sent one a week later. Have seen them three times since and had a few words and a very awkward walk but this has upset me again.

I am leaving now to go to to the doctor so see about my back. All feels too much at the moment.

Galvantula · 22/11/2019 09:30

Hope the doc can help sunshine Flowers

I am back from the doctors but have to take ds to his appointment soon.

I have damaged my back so the GP has given me some pain relief gel and has referred me. Can walk the dog but no heavy lifting. Is going to make things very difficult.

I am so tired.

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/11/2019 12:55

Oh no @sunshinecake. Can you rest a bit over the weekend? Let DH take some of the strain?

Well done @DownUdderer!

I've been for a haircut and a few bits of Christmas shopping. So far so good today food wise.

Have a good day all.

SunshineCake · 22/11/2019 14:13

I'm not very good at asking for help, and I have had this damage for years but it has got worse in the last month when I had two more falls, but dh will do all I ask and plenty I don't ask for.

Well done on the good food day.

fallfallfall · 22/11/2019 15:40

Positive healing thoughts Sunshine.

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/11/2019 12:47

I'm glad DH is helpful and supportive @SunshineCake. Hope that you feel a bit better today though I'm guessing you'll be nervous about Monday too.

I'm at 27lbs down and been doing quite well for the last couple of days. Need to stick to it! One lb to get to 2 stone which I think is probably a good place for me to stay at through winter at least...

How has your day been @fallfallfall?

Happy Saturday all x

fallfallfall · 23/11/2019 16:05

DS, DIL, and GD visiting for the weekend. I cooked up a turkey, so lean meat and lots of veggies planned.
They come here from a very remote village, generally to shop (I’m right they are both Christmas shopping and stocking the house for winter).
So no need to over eat and I’m not expecting difficulty getting the steps in.
I’ve basically maintained since April, surprisingly not as difficult as expected.
But I have got get my momentum back as I’m still 10 lbs or 15 overweight.

SunshineCake · 23/11/2019 21:13

I'm shattered. Eldest son has come home from university with five hours notice and needed his mum. He's gone to bed now as shattered. Haven't logged anything and only walked the dog a little. It's fine. It's just one day. Headache, sore arm from flu jab and tired so it is a just get through the day day.

DownUdderer · 24/11/2019 05:46

My food choices have felt good today. I’m happiest when I’m low carb.

I’m a bit worried my boobs are just deflating now.

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/11/2019 06:44

Enjoy @fallfallfall Precious to see your children once they've flown the nest feels guilty to have immigrated half way round the world

@downudder I never had boobs to start with, so can't help with that one

Oh that's a nice surprise @SunshineCake but guessing he's struggling if he's come back short notice because he needs mum? Hope you both feel better today after some shut eye.

Had a terrible night's sleep, I tried going to bed at 9:30 as I was so shattered and still only managed 7 hours of interrupted sleep Hmm So a long day ahead with a walk planned and then all the usual boring stuff like cleaning and cooking and then it's Monday again. The year is really flying by!

SunshineCake · 24/11/2019 12:52

Weight up again. Feel I've lost momentum but I'm just letting things be as they are at the moment. I need to get through the next two weeks with medical stuff then try and reset.

MrsJones thankfully he's not struggling with uni or with anything he just had something happen and needed to come home but he's fine, thank you.

I slept all night with him here which is first time in ages. Probably since last time he was home.

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/11/2019 14:26

(((hugs))) for you @SunshineCake

SunshineCake · 24/11/2019 15:04

Thank you Flowers.

DownUdderer · 25/11/2019 03:18

I’ve had a nice hike today, 6.9 km. It was all on the flat though. I’ve had a lovely lunch and I’ll have steak and green veggies for dinner.

I’m having a good month so far, for weight loss.

Koko everyone:)

Foreverlexicon · 25/11/2019 08:06

I’ve been awol recently.
I had a bit of a fuck it time and started concentrating on eating what I actually want after being sick of dieting for almost a year but only having lost about 10lb.

I’m actually eating less overall now Hmm my work belt has gone up a hole and my work trousers are positively comfortable!

I’ll weigh myself Thursday or Friday when I’m off and see where I’m at but I’m going to try and keep this mindset. Even if I only lose 1-2lb a month, I’m eating what I want so it’s entirely sustainable and I’m actually getting into regular eating habits so it’ll be easier to make small changes at a later date if necessary!

BustedDreams · 25/11/2019 08:53

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a good weekend.

@SunshineCake hope everything goes ok today (((hug))) Hope you’re feeling better in yourself.

@DownUdderer I’m the same, always feel healthier and lighter and not as sluggish when I eat lower carb.

@foreverlexicon sounds good to me 👍

I’m pleased to say I’ve lost 4lbs of the 7lbs water/meds gain. I’ve reintroduced meat & fish and remaining stable. Hoping to lose the remaining 3lbs gain by the month end ... no pressure Grin. That will put me firmly where I started at the beginning of the month. The way I look at it is if I’d not been monitoring my weight and being mindful of portion size etc that 7lbs gain would have turned into a stone gain etc. As it is I’ve got on it before it got on me proper. Looking back I think that is how I gained 3st plus without really noticing a couple of years ago (yes really). Health issues, lack of mobility, eating with impunity. Before you know it you start to think ‘oh might as well as have the cake, won’t make much difference now’. But it does. Both in your weight and more importantly in your mind set. I’ve kicked denial to the curb. You need to face it to change it.

Have a great last week of the November challenge!

I’m late to this. But you seem v supportive and I need some accountability.

I’ve got 2 stone of menopausal weight to use. I have to many wines in the week, cheese and biscuits or toast for supper after dinner, mindless crisp and carb eating.

I go to two gym classes a week and walk to work sometimes, but used to walk 45 mins every day and more at the weekend.

We’ve had a lot of family stress and are in a brief gap before there’s more (dh’s family illness).

We’re going away in February and I’d like to be fitter and lighter by then.

I’m going to cut out the mindless snacking and have herbal tea instead of wine, reinstate the walking, eat far more vegetables and take my lunch into work.

5 foot 7 and 12 st 8 lbs.

BustedDreams · 25/11/2019 09:32

Welcome @CatUnderTheStairs 😊. Jump right in, you’ve come to the right place.

I came on thread to post Decembers Thread , you could add yourself to that one as well if you like.

I totally empathise with your post. Menopause as well as habits can see the scales go up. Have you planned your eating routine? I track & plan via MFP app. I find it very useful.
