Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

Itsthawooluff · 13/08/2007 12:51

Yes please. Weighed myself on Monday morning 14st 8lbs. Go on holiday on Friday so chances of losing 2.5 stone by then = NIL.

DH under strict instructions not to take photos below waist.

Any reports of whales in Med are likely to be me

Leander · 13/08/2007 12:56

I haven't started off great, i didn't have breakfast which i know is a definate no no but i will have breakfast tomorrow. So i have had a small jacket spud with tuna/sweetcorn and salad, a ww cup a soup and fruit salad.I have just cut up a watermelon strawberries and grapes and put it in a bowl in the fridge to pick at if i get peckish so should hopefully keep me away from the chocolate and crisp cupboard.
I am making spag bol tonight so will have a small portion of this.i have got myself a smaller dinner plate and will use this instead of a normal sized plate.

quiveutmabonnebaguette · 13/08/2007 12:57

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 13:09

I suggest no more weighing after today until next monday and then we all report back here to see how we have all done...

Donk · 13/08/2007 14:05

I'm 13st 2lbs
Ideal weight about 11 stone (I'm 5'9")
Off to a good start this morning! Lots of exercise and just about to go out for a walk.

fedda · 13/08/2007 15:09

Nice recipies. Thanks everyone. I'm afraid we had a forbiden McDonald's stop and I had fillet o fish (blush). We also went by car so I didn't walk much. Oh, dear. I'm going to do 15 minutes aerobics and go out at least for 15 minutes. I feel so guilty! This is the first day and here I go!

snowwonder · 13/08/2007 15:23

fedda · 13/08/2007 15:53

Thank you, the problem is I'm hungry! Would you believe it? i haven't been in the shop to get the things I was going to to keep me going. I think I'm going to do it now though. I'll get some fruit and veg just to feel the gap. Thank you so much for your support. I needed it.

AnAngelWithin · 13/08/2007 16:00

so the day was going o.k. Got to dinner time and had beans on toast and a small poached egg and a glass of fruit juice. Walked up the town and bought some furniture polish (any excuse to get out the house!!) and went to the pet shop and bought 2 new fish for my tank. Came home and cleaned out the fish tank and added the new fish, kids arguing like mad, MIL pestering on the phone that shes on her way around and so, well.....it was just THERE, and it MADE me eat it... that stupid bar of galaxy chocolate should have hidden when i opened the fridge

think i will be taking the dog on a very long walk later to try and burn off the guilt

PinkChick · 13/08/2007 16:07

still having good day..altough pepsi max is my 'chocolate' when im slimming tho bit concerned as what was said about fizzy earlier?? as mum has osteopirosis(sp)?..just put jacket pot in for me and doing potato skins for children with chesses and ham or maybe cheese and beans?..anyway..fell today, not snacked and picked as i usually do!

PinkChick · 13/08/2007 16:09

so when im away next week, what delicacies should i be steering away from towards??(we're going to cyprus)..whats the local dish's?

Fimbles5 · 13/08/2007 16:19

If its any consolation fedda, in comparison, a galaxy chocolate bar is good. Just thought I'd post to let you all know that once again I have failed
Do I have a big problem or what? What am I going to do? I am at a loss.
Started day feeling good about diet and myself - Had cereal for breakfast and again for lunch with view to completing cereal twice a day diet. About 3pm felt hungry so thought may be thirsty and had a pint of water. Still starving so began to eat and eat and eat and haven't stopped since. I am so angry and don't know how to get out of this vicious circle. I am not after sympathy, but would appreciate some advice, do you think I maybe need to see a doctor?

Fimbles5 · 13/08/2007 16:21

Sorry fedda - It was Angelwithin that ate the chocolate!! But you had McDonalds
Still good in comparison - keep up the good work, you can do it (but for some reason I can't). X

mazzystar · 13/08/2007 17:02

ok, weighed in this am at 13 stone 10lbs. believe it or not i am actually pleased about this as three weeks ago i was 14 stone 7. so i have actually lost some weight. which is a first, at least since having the bairns.

i'm doing neris and india's idiot-proof diet, which is basically atkins for wimps, with vegetables allowed. trying this because my usual - pre baby - strategies of low fat diet and lots of gym-going aren't possible these days.

feelign a bit masochistic as just made biscuits with ds . didn't have any.

missgriss · 13/08/2007 17:06

Fimble5, do you find yourself eating when you are bored? That's when I tend to eat a lot. If I'm at my work or out and about I am ok but as soon as I am in the house not doing very much I get the munchies. I have to keep myself busy all the time.

Thunderpants · 13/08/2007 17:08

Fimble - you probably need to eat more, rather than just starve yourself. Have a bowl of cereal with skimmed milk for breakfast and something like a banana orstrawberries or even a v low fat yoghurt. Then for lunch have some ryvita with low fat cheese/tuna/fish paste/ham and loads of salad. then have yoghurt/fruit again. that way,you won't feel as hungry and won't be tempted to binge. I'm good at giving out the advice, by the way, and useless at taking it myself .

However today's been good so far, but it's evenings that are the bad time for me. By nine o'clock I may have to go to bed!

LucyJones · 13/08/2007 17:10

Hmmm... I haven't done so well today either
Had crisps and some left over After Eights at lunchtime...
Will try better tomorrow...

mazzystar · 13/08/2007 17:22

fimble, iknow what you mean - i eat when i'm bored, when i'm fed up, pick at things etc. i am trying not to do that and to drink a glass of water instead. a couple of weeks in its getting easier. also taken up knitting which means mind/hands otherwise occupied....

if you are really starving all the time maybe you might benefit from slow release carbs and protein to eat, have porridge for breqakfast with some plain yoghurt and seeds, or scrambled egg with oatcakes - no fat, and wholegrain carbs and lots of veggies at lunchtime.

slayerette · 13/08/2007 17:29

Just found this thread - can I join please? Have started diet today, going back to WW when term starts again. Right - I'm 5'6 and 12st 11 lbs. BMI 28. something - is that obese?

Looking to get down to at least 10 st 7 - is that unrealistic? Think I'm heavier now than I was when pregnant and ds is 4

Bubble99 · 13/08/2007 17:44

I'm doing fairly well. Though there's a hole in my tummy were a pile of biscuits would normally be.

Took my boys swimming this afternoon but with a baby I couldn't do too much exercise.

Cooking dinner now, roast chicken, spuds (for them) broccoli, carrots and Brussels sprouts (for me.) I've got a 'Skinny Cow' choc ice-cream for later.

It really is a matter of getting in the right mindset to do this, isn't it?

Bubble99 · 13/08/2007 17:47

PinkChick, if I were you, and I'm very at the thought of a holiday in Cyprus, I would go for grilled everything (fish, chicken, though maybe stick to very lean red meat) with salads.

Easier to do on holiday, in some respects, because it's warmer?
