Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

"Eat up to a 45g serving of any Special K cereal with 125ml of semi-skimmed milk for breakfast then another for lunch OR dinner with a third nutritionally balanced meal for just 2 weeks. "

from special k diet here

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 08:45

fimbles - that is the only ever 'diet' I have done. A few years ago before I got married. I had cerael for brekkie, cereal for lunch and I was famished so I then had two bowls for lunch ! It worked though, combined with the gym three times a week!

LucyJones · 13/08/2007 08:47

ooh massivebigpants - how much did you lose and how quick?

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 08:49

I can't remember, maybe about half a stone over a couple of weeeks or more. I had to get my wedding dress taken in at the last minute!

Fimbles5 · 13/08/2007 08:49

I have recently started running (if you can call it that - more like slow jogging), and must be mad, but have entered a 10K run in September. Hopefully this is the challenge I need to keep motivated with exercise, and then I am hoping healthy eating will follow. We will see

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 08:51

I think you should definately load up on fruit, nuts and seeds though for this. I don't really believe that it can be that good for you on its own. I think weetabix or porridge would be just as good or maybe better too. Porridge definatly in the moring as it keeps you going for ages, mix in a mashed banana and some raisins.

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 08:53

right I'm off to get ready for the day but will be back later.

This is just what I needed, I'm so glad I clicked on this thread!

totaleclipse · 13/08/2007 08:58

Oooh can I join?, badly need to lose 2-3 stone, I dont have any scales but I am about 12.4 stone (will buy scales) and I am 5foot6, and a size 14, would love to drop 2 dress sizes, have recenty just bought a mini trampoline, so plan to do as much as I can, I was thinking of trying the 2 bowls of cereal diet as I am not very creative with food.

massivebigpantsface · 13/08/2007 09:01

I can't lie to myself - I have just weighed myself again after going to the loo and taking all my clothes off and I am more like 10st 11lb.

not for much longer though!

Fimbles5 · 13/08/2007 09:01

Welcome totaleclipse. I am going to try this too, so we can support each other if you like. I need lots of ideas for evening meals. Am now going out to purchase my box of cornflakes.

Leander · 13/08/2007 09:03

ok Im in I was starting my "diet" this morning anyway so with your moral support it should be easier.I am 11.6 and going into a size 16 which i vowed never to do again.I lost over a stone last year on WW but i have put that back on and moreI find it really easy to put weight on i have just come back from 1 weeks all inclusive holiday and put on 1/2 a stone in a week .My little brother is getting married next year and i am determined to be a size 10/12 for it i am only 5" 3' so my weight is very unhealthy.I work late shifts 3 nights a week and that is when i really struggle, I dont have my dinner before i go to work and end up snacking on crap and eating when i get home at midnight which can't be good for you.I eat loads of crap/snacks so they are the first to go, no chocolate/sweets and crisps.I am going to drink plenty of water and snack on fruit instead, I will eat smaller portions,Our meals are quite healthy anyway, i just eat too much.

Thanks if you stayed with this long enough to read it.
Good luck everybody x

totaleclipse · 13/08/2007 09:05

Yeah sure, Am going to try it with shredded wheat, and weetabix accasionally if I get too hungry as they are more filling, am alos going to try the exercise 'the plank' combinrd with trampette, the plank is quite a tough exersice, only takes a minute but really hard to do.........oh and drink lots of water

missgriss · 13/08/2007 09:07

Morning Ladies. I weighed myself when I got up and I now weigh 11st 13lbs . Thats after 2/3 weeks of being stuck at around 12st 1 lbs. Yesterday I had an 'ach, feck it!' day and gorged myself on pizza and chocolate. No doubt I'll be back up to 12st 5 lb tomorrow My BMI is 23.9

I had a look at that Closer diet guide and I should be eating 1800 cals a day, 247.5g of carbs, 90g of protein and 50 g of fat.

Going out running sound like a good idea, it's just trying to find the time! I've started doing 30 sit-ups a day, aiming to increase to a least 50. I hate my c-section stomach

LucyJones · 13/08/2007 09:08

Yes, I thnk weetabix would be more nutritional than cornflakes.
Sultana bran would get you going too

missgriss · 13/08/2007 09:09

Leander, I work 3 late shifts a week too. Oddly enough, I find it easier sticking to a diet when I'm at work, it's when I'm at home that a find myself snacking all the time.

Pennies · 13/08/2007 09:11

I'm in - want to shift a stone. Am planning a high fruit and veg, low (but not no carb) carb + exercise 3 times a week attempt. Also trying to detox at the same time so am cutting caffiene (allowing myself two cups of tea a day) and I really would like to avoid booze altogether, but whilst I'm happy to cut down to one or two drinks a week I'm not sure I can get rid completely. Got to have a little something to get me through this!

Want to shift it by mid October. Started this morning with a mixed berry smoothie and will be heading off to the gym shortly. Planning on a banana sandwich for lunch, fruit for snacks and grilled chicken kebabs with salad tonight.

soph28 · 13/08/2007 09:26

Hi, please can I join too? I am 13st and me BMI is 27ish (need to work it out accurately after I have weighed myself) but I need to lose at leat 1.5 stone. DS is 2.4 and dd is 1.

I have a gym membership but dh works late/away a lot too so I can't go. Can't do much buggy pushing either cos ds won't stay in buggy for long walks, he wants to walk which means we go at snail's pace and stop every few seconds so he can pick up sticks etc!

Have a trampoline so will try and do that but can't if it's wet!!

How about sit ups etc? Will try 50 crunches today.

Whimsy · 13/08/2007 10:08

fedda · 13/08/2007 10:49

Hi, everyone. It's amazing, how many of us need to loose weight. I had a bowl of corn flakes with semi skimmed milk for my breakfast. I'm going to go out in the afternoon - a good walk to the local library and the playground with my DS. personally I don't think any chocolate mouse or kit cat is good for me so I'm off buiscuits and chockies hovewer slim promises are written on them. i'm also going to go to my shop to get a stock of fruit for my snacks as I can't stick to 3 meals a day without snacks. I'm limiting my coffee intake as for me I'm afraid coffee comes with 2 spoons of sugar and something else to eat, at least nuts. Anyway, i hope you all forgive me for not posting my weight but I need to get rid of the fat tummy and fat bits around my body.

LoveAngel · 13/08/2007 11:28

Hi there. I started my new healthier lifestyle last Monday, so I can offer you some inspiration! It has been sooooo much easier than I imagined it would be, and I am very proud of myself. I need to lose about 20 lbs I reckon, and to improve my fitness levels (get out of breath easily, very stiff joints etc). I had gotten into a really bad comfort eating habit (takeways, cheesecake, choccie bars a go-go!), but the last week I have been a very good girl - been eating museli, fat free yoghurt & fruit for brek, loads of fruit and water as a snack, a massive salad for lunch, more fruit, water and ryvita in the arvo and a big healthy dinner (grilled fish or chicken, lots of veg). I've also dragged my fat lazy bum out of my house and been walking, swimming and to pilates (got another pilates class today). I swear to God I feel about 5 years younger after just a week of living like this - I have soooo much more energy. Wish I had started this earlier (my son is 2 and a half and I have never done a stroke fo 'postnatal' exercise lol).

I'm not weighing myself at all - my target is to get out of my size 14 jeans and back into my 12s with ease, and to have a flatter tum.

Hope you are all feeling positive today. Lets do it, ladies!

Fimbles5 · 13/08/2007 11:32

Fantastic LoveAngel - I am so pleased for you, keep up the good work!.

Thunderpants · 13/08/2007 12:00

ok here goes - 12 stone 13 lbs. Target 10 stone. Will be walking 10,000 steps per day, exercising 2 or 3 times a week and eating 1500 cals per day. Looking forward to next week's weigh-in, when hopefully will have lost 2 lbs. Good luck everyone!!

hello all. weighed in this morning at 11 stone 10.5lb. I wasn't this heavy even when I was pg with any of my 4 dcs!!

Have had shredded wheat and a cup of tea for breakfast and a banana for a snack. I am absolutely starving now and feeling quite shaky!! Not sure what to do for lunch. Might have some beans on toast. Tea was supposed to be chicken mushroom adn asparagus lasagne but i guess it will just be a jacket potato and lots of salad for me while i watch DH eat the lasagne.

have been busy cleaning this morning and going to take the kids to the park later and take the dog for a walk.

I bought one of those lateral thigh trainers a while ago and its been in the cupcoard since I bought it so I got it out this morning and got all the settings right on it and put it in the kitchen ready for the morning.

Recipe idea that is low in fat:
1 chicken breast
Low fat soft cheese (i use tescos own garlic and herb one)
2 pieces of extra trimmed bacon

Slice the chicken bresat open, and fill with the soft cheese. Wrap the bacon around it to seal it and bake int he oven for about 40 minutes. Serve with jacket potato, salad and sweetcorn.

Anyone got anything good for lunch ideas? thats when i am hungriest and never think of anything interesting to do.

LucyJones · 13/08/2007 12:25

beans on toast is a good one.
Small jacket potato with tuna and lots of salad
Salad with something interesting in it like prawns, sardines etc
Homemade vegetable soup but without cream or low fat version.
