Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

I haven't started exercise yet - am planning to ease myself in gently with aqua-aerobics and then perhaps move on to something more challenging when I am a bit fitter and don't bounce as much - will huge norks start to diminish if I lose weight?

Am finding it easier, bubble, to break snack habit now I've been dieting for over a week. Sister says I shouldn't call it dieting, just adopting more healthy approach to eating, which I like!

LadySnotAlot · 22/08/2007 09:57

I do 2 spinning classes a week. Really beginning to see the difference tone wise but need to shift half a stone.

sezh · 22/08/2007 14:08

Slayerette, are norks boobs? I have huge boobs which have always got in the way of exercising. Jogging is a definite no-no unless I want two black eyes! I have invested in a decent sports bra, from bravissimo, which has helped. I would love to lose some weight from them, but whenever I start eating healthily and exercising it comes off my legs first and boobs last .

I had a thyroid problem a few years ago and put on a lot of weight. Once it stabilized I joined W.W and started a fitness regime. I lost a lot of weight went from 13.1 to 9.11!! Pregnancy was the cause of it going back on. I went up to 15.5 the day before I went into hospital to have DS induced. Now DS is a year old I think its about time I sorted myself out. The only problem is that I'm trying to conceive again and I've heard that losing weight is a bad thing. Has anyone else heard this?

Evening all.

What kind of day have you had?

It's been P'ing down here which has meant that I've been stuck inside with the DSs driving me bonkers.

Foodwise I've had my usual...er....breakfast?... Of pita bread with hummus and salad.

Lunch was a Waitrose 'perfectly balanced' veggie moussaka which was V good and only 200 cals/3%fat with a salad.

Having chicken breast, broccoli and sprouts for supper plus a KitKat.

I sneaked a piece of the boys' pizza at lunchtime but I also had some of their cucumber and pepper sticks, so that I didn't want to nab all of their lunch.

I am aware of a tub of Mr Bubble's Ben and Jerry's in the freezer so am repeating my mantra of....

'Nothing tastes as good as slim feels.'

mazzystar · 22/08/2007 20:05

stay strong bubble, don't undo your achievements so far by succumbing to the ice cream

been quite good today. tomato eggs en cocotte for breakfast. few walnuts for a snack. hot smoked salmon fillet and salad for lunch. homemade chicken soup and salad for supper. having a rooibosh soya chai latte for a treat in a mo.
took ds swimming and can feel it in my arms from chucking him about. nonetheless its not the same as proper exercise. which i have been putting off

Thunderpants · 22/08/2007 20:53

Hey bubble thanks for taking over! Well, our trip wasn't brilliant, due to the rain, but we still walked several miles each day, so felt that a cooked breakfast and big dinner each night would be ok. I'll know next week when I weigh-in, but hopefully didn't overdo it too much. Great to see so many people doing so well.

After my restaurant trip yesterday in spite of my 20 minutes of aerobics I back to the same weight! All I've lost is now back on me! Today I had coffee with a spoon of honey and milk + nuts, baked beans and aubugine with tomatoes, red pepper and grapes but I'm fat! Yes, I know, no baked beans but I just funcied them. It's not fair! I need to be better then that.

Scoobi6 · 22/08/2007 22:27

Hi bubble, Tpants & everyone, not a bad day, I had fruit for snacks and a very virtous salady-couscous concoction for dinner (yuck!) and I attempted my new dvd, urban dance workout. omg they promised I would be "fit, fresh and fly" but I'm going to have to report them to the advertising standards agency, I'm actually wobbly, unco-ordinated and bewildered!

Bubble99 · 22/08/2007 22:41

mazzy. I've made him finish it so that I won't be tempted.

Thunderpants. Pleased to hear you had a good break. We're going away on Saturday to Devon, very near to a swollen river, so am taking wellies. We're staying in a cottage complex thingy that has an indoor and outdoor pool so I'm hoping to be able to do some swimming while I'm there. Have managed to do B all this week due to the weather and having four boys on my case all day and I miss my swimming.

fedda. I hate the word 'portion' but are your portions of food a realistic size to lose weight? Chicken/meat should be about the size of your fist and veg can be in any amount, except for potatoes and other starchy veg which should be less.

Scoobi. I've got a pilates DVD which is....er....sitting in a cupboard and has not been troubled by daylight recently.

fedda · 22/08/2007 22:48

Bubble, I thought salad could be any portion i ike. Chicken the size of my fist is not realistic for me, more likely two fists. Does anyone know if it's okay to have no sugar jam sweetened with concentrated grape juice? i make my own fruit tea with it - i put jam in the tea as I use the jam instead of sugar. i just had some with pieces of an apple. yes, i know normal people are sleeping now. That's my time though, no one says that they want a glass of milk or a cup of tea.

Bubble99 · 22/08/2007 23:00

fedda. Salad leaves, lettuce, cucumber etc as much as you like, yes. Same with broccoli and other green veg.

Avocados are not good (very high in fat, though it is a 'good' type of fat, it still has a lot of calories.)

Do you eat roasted/grilled chicken without the skin? One medium sized chicken breast is about right with lots of veg and/or salad and 2 - 3oz rice or potato.

Bubble99 · 22/08/2007 23:04

fedda. Baked beans are fine. Check the side of tins for printed calorie and fat content.

I'm aimimg for 30g fat a day and 1400 calories in order to lose weight.

Bubble99 · 22/08/2007 23:08

Also....(me again! )

Your jam sounds OK, too.

The thing is not to get too worried about what you're eating. As long as you stay within the 1200 - 1400 calories a day (1000 calories if you have less than a stone to lose) and 20-30G of fat you should lose weight.

I save up my calories and fat for some chocolate in the evening.

fedda · 22/08/2007 23:20

thank you everybody. I have to say i dislike chicken breast from my childhood. I much prefer the leg and yes, I have it with the skin, the nicest part of it. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, my DS gets it before me as he has his and mine. He loves the skin. Oh, well, I'll do my best, girls. I'll try what I can do but I can't be perfect. I didn'thave chockies for over a week though!

Bubble99 · 22/08/2007 23:23

Must go, fedda. Baby crying.

I'll post tomorrow.

Night.

fedda · 22/08/2007 23:33

I'm taking myself off as well. Must sleep sometimes. Night.

Thunderpants · 23/08/2007 14:56

Hi all. I received my order of Hoodii cactus tablets this morning, which are supposed to suppress appetite. I'll keep you posted. Have taken one so far, and not noticed the difference yet! I always think diets are difficult in the 2nd and 3rd weeks - you lose the initial enthusiasm, but haven't quite got into the swing of it. Hang in there everyone, and I'm sure we'll all be out the other side in another week or so!

We were shopping at Tesco today and we decided to stop in their cafeteria for lunch. i was pleased with myself having wholemeal sandwich with cheese, chives and spring onions with smoothy when my husband told me that he heard on radio that a sandwich has more salt content then a bag of crisps. My DS was enjoying his crisps after his cheese sandwich. i picked up his crisps and sure enough that had 0,2 salt in a pack but my sandwich had 1,8! I'm shocked! it wasn't a tall a good choice after all.

mazzystar · 23/08/2007 17:08

have made a discovery - if you are the kind of chocoholic like me that likes very dark bitter chocolate, raw cacao nibs - bit like eating coffee beans in a way but a proper chocolate hit with no sugar, no fat and no carbs.

no good at all if you are a dairy milk girl thogh.....

fedda · 23/08/2007 22:51

Well, my discovery is you can be good for 1,5 weeks but 2 slips take you back to square 1. I hate my scales! i hate my skirts! everything is against me in my battle!

Bubble99 · 23/08/2007 23:01

fedda. Avoid cheese. It is fat. If you must have some, go for a stronger tasting type and have less of it.

Count calories and fat and you'll be OK.

Oh, and hello, BTW.

Bubble99 · 23/08/2007 23:03

mazzy. I'm bored with my KitKats so I'll give your suggestion a try.

I like Green and Blacks choc but I'd do a bar without thinking.

fedda · 23/08/2007 23:34

Hi, bubble, I have very little cheese. i don't like strong chedder, i have mild chedder and goat's cheese ocasionally.

Pennies · 24/08/2007 13:18

Oh you're all doing really well I'm so jealous!

OK, 10 days in - eating 1250 calories a day and exercising 3 times a week (burning approx 400 cals each session). So why have I fecking well put on weight?

I lost 1.5lbs in the first week and weighed myself today and I've regained that weight. OK OK so its not actually a net gain but nonethless I'm cheesed off.

I can only attribute it to muscle as I upped the kilos on the weights a bit to 'feel the burn'. Could this be the case?

fedda · 24/08/2007 16:35

Come on, girls. Where is our support group?
