Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

Morning i have just weighrd myself and amazingly i have lost 3 lb I have had 2 really bad days, Friday which i told you about and Saturday i went to a aprty and drank my body weight in wine. This week i am going to do pretty much the same (not the two blowouts) no crisp choc and eating when i get home from work.I am also going to try to do some excercise, not enough hours in the day but i will take the kids and dog out for a good walk.I know its only 3 lb but my clothes fit a little bit better.

Slouchy · 20/08/2007 11:14

Morning!
1lb off. Harumph.Better than nowt I suppose.

Been for a run this morning!About 3/4 mile, I think, with lots of BIG hills.(then collapsed on sofa, currently owrking up0 energy to go for a shower.)

Been quite good this week, but Could Do Better. We are off to EuroDisney on Fri so that could be a problem, but if I can lose another c0ouple of lbs in the meantime that will help.

had plain yog and banana so far today. omelette for lunch, prob sandwich for tea. Pilates later tonight.

I must see some real results soon, surely!!

Bubble99 · 20/08/2007 11:46

1 - 2lbs off each week is probably right initially, if you've got a couple of stone or less to lose.

I have got 4 stone to lose (start weight 14st 8 )which is why I lost 4lbs this week.

What I'm trying to say is...don't be disheartened if you've lost 'only' 1 - 2lbs as this is a healthy, realsitic amount.

Slouchy · 20/08/2007 11:57

Thanks for the wise words bubble, and yes, I am only just outside healthy BMi (its about 25.9), so it will be harder. Still Grr though!
Well done on your loss, that's a great start.

Lizzzombie · 20/08/2007 16:38

Well done Slouchy and Leander! I am very
So it seems a mini trampoline is a good idea...may have to pop into Argos. Any particular recommendations? Is there even one which will take a 12 stone lump of lard?
I am liking the 12mins bouncing = 80 calories off though. Plus, LO can play on it when I have finished!
Can you bounce and iron at the same time?!

slayerette · 20/08/2007 16:53

Ok - 5 lbs off this week so very chuffed with self. Of course, ds in holiday club today so dh and I went shopping and shared a massive icecream sundae with all the trimmings to celebrate having a bit of time to ourselves!

So it's lettuce for me for the rest of the week!

Well done, those who have lost weight and keep trying!

fedda · 20/08/2007 18:23

Hi everybody. I've written a big message but anyhow it was lost after I clicked in Post message. Oh, well. Anyway, yes I eat everything apart from crisps, buiscuits, cakes, ice cream and chocolates. I drink juices, water, tea and coffee with honey. I try to have 10 fruit and veg and excersise for at least 10 minutes. I've lost 1 kg this week but i don't know how much it's on pounds. It's not so difficult to loose weight, it's difficult not to go back to the usual weight. My tummy is still big though (blush).

Bubble99 · 20/08/2007 23:21

Well done, fedda.

That's about 2lb which is a good amount to lose each week.

Keep up the good work, everyone.

fedda · 20/08/2007 23:55

Thank you, Bubble99.

Bubble99 · 21/08/2007 09:15

Morning all.

I've settled on a pita bread with 'something' and salad in it as a breakfast. This morning it was low fat hummus and salad and I do feel as though I've actually eaten something. I know that this is more of a lunch thing, but I feel really cheated if I eat cereal or porridge.

Have a good day, everyone and remember....

Slouchy · 21/08/2007 09:19

Hi bubble! Pitta bread with hummus for breakfast sounds - er -interesting!
I've lost another lb since yesterday. I know you are not supposed to weigh every day but I figure that as I started last Tues, I'm owed a weighin today for completing a week.
So that's 2lbs off. Hoorah!

mazzystar · 21/08/2007 12:07

well done everyone. i expect that we have lost 21/2 stone between us in only a week!

the scale say 2lbs off this week. would like a bit more but think i will have to up the exercise - from er not much at all really - to achieve it.

back from festival having exercised extreme strength of will, ot succumbing to PIES or FELAFEL or BURGERS even any booze except for one vodka lime and soda. not a vry easy environment for low-carbing, or indeed virtuous eating of any sort. though pushing a double buggy through ankle deep mud must surely be good for the thighs

bubble i see your hummus for breakfast and raise you a hot smoked salmon fillet and a handful of walnuts

sezh · 21/08/2007 18:14

Good to hear so many have lost some weight. I lost 2lb! I have also been very good and had a couple of sessions on my exercise bike. Started off doing 7 miles then 10 today. Only burnt off 250cals by doing 10 miles though!

We're off visiting friends over the bank holiday so I don't expect to lose much next week. I'll try and be good though.

Biglips · 21/08/2007 19:32

Bubble99 · 21/08/2007 19:40

hotbot · 21/08/2007 19:47

sorry forgot " nothing tastes as good as slim feels "

whoops · 21/08/2007 19:49

PLease don't shout at me but I need some motivation!

Bubble99 · 21/08/2007 19:49

How much do you need to lose, hotbot?

Bubble99 · 21/08/2007 20:00

I reckon, btw, that it takes about three days to break the back of any habit. By that I mean that the first three days are really difficult and then the body begins to adjust to receiving none or less of whatever it was that we were 'feeding' it. Be that cigarettes, alcohol or, in this case, excess calories.

I'm not suggesting that it is easy after three days, just that it is less painful.

I found the first three days of last week really difficult, but I recognised that I was breaking the habit of reaching for food without thinking.

This week has been a lot easier as I am eating three meals plus a couple of snacks and not really struggling.

I was 14st8lb when I started and lost 5lbs this week, without it hurting too much, honest!

Are you snackers? Sweet or savoury types?
I was a bread and butter and wine fiend and that has had to go.

Unfortunately, with wine, I'm not the type who can have 'just one glass' so I've really had to cut it completely for now.

fedda · 21/08/2007 22:38

I went to restaurant tonight. Oh, well. Have to start again tomorrow.

Scoobi6 · 22/08/2007 08:30

oops pizza and chips last night, and too much wine. We had guests, thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it

but my exercise dvds have arrived so will see if I get on with those - dh will be banned from the living room while I try them out tho, I have no co-ordination!

missgriss · 22/08/2007 08:34

Well done to all of you who have lost weight!

I'm still 11st 13lbs

I'm going to have to up my exercise to lose the rest I think.
