New thread!

Well it looks like I'm 3lb up on pre holiday weight so that's pretty good. I've been on damage control the last few days so will do my best to keep focused (pesky Oreo thins getting in the way!)

Here's to a lighter September for us all!

Be strong peridot! You can definitely knock the booze on the head. Just do a week or a few days first and see how you get on.

I went to SlimmingWorld last night and I only put 0.5lb on last week so I was very pleased with that considering how shitty it was. Steps have not been great so far this week as I've had loads of work on but I'll run tomorrow, Saturday abs Sunday as well as riding on Sunday so hopefully can claw it back. Food is good so generally feeling much happier than last week.

Gosh Red that really is a win, well done! I guess your running really counteracted any eating. Hope you and the fam are doing as well as can be expected this week.

Peridot Ello giving up weekday drinking has been the single most successful change I've made for keeping my weight under control. It was also by far the hardest for exactly the reason you say Ello - it was my evening wind-down and I missed it for quite a while until new habits bedded in. I don't even think about it any more though (not that I don't really look forward to my weekend wine...!) and I'm SO glad I did it: I sleep so much better, and generally feel much better for it. I always thought I'd be less rigid about it once I reached a happy weight, but I've no desire whatsoever to do that, it's 100% my lifestyle now.

I know it's never helpful to hear "it'll be worth it in the long run" Grin but it might reassure you to hear that it's just a habit, and once you have a new one it'll become second nature.

I've struggled a bit this week. Very low energy yesterday and had to force myself to get any steps in. I slept like a log last night though, so a bit better today and hoping for a final push on steps and another early night. I just can't believe how quickly this week's flown by! Really hoping I don't see a gain tomorrow... it doesn't feel like one of those weeks where I've really smashed it, so I'll be satisfied with a STS.

Quim - I try really hard to not drink midweek. And then DH says well surely that’s Wednesday lunchtime? Hmm

No wine tonight! DS was going out and I had to drop him into town at 8. Had a Seedlip and tonic.

So that’s three alcohol free nights this week.

Food was mainly ok today but not great. Need to start tracking to stay focused I think.

900g DOWN!!!!!!!!

ShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShockShock

I don't deserve it at all, but I also deserved better from last week's crappy 100g, so I must've had some kind of water retention blip last week and am seeing it now.

Well that's a nice surprise!

Blimey quim, you'll be too slender for this thread soon! That is brilliant, well done!

Thanks Red Grin I'm really in shock, I thought it'd be a gain this week!

I worked out this morning I've lost coming up for 9lbs since the end of June! Can't be too dramatic though, as the only person that's noticed (or remarked at least, which my husband and possibly mother in law would ordinarily do) is my friend's husband Confused Obviously I'm in the "vanity pounds" arena, so I don't think it makes as much difference. I can't say I can really see it either - must be coming off somewhere I don't think much about like my bum...!

Blimey well done on the dry evenings Ello and Peridot, can I credit my inspirational speech for that double victory? Grin

*Ello double salad must have had you glowing with virtue! I keep those Options Hot Chocs on standby for my rare insuppressible sweet cravings too - normally I'm content with vanilla rooibos with vanilla soya milk, but sometimes in winter hot choc just feels necessary, especially if I've got caught in the snow or something.

Peri which Seedlip do you favour? I bought a little bottle of the "Grove" one to make mocktails for my sister when we had a big lunch a couple of weeks ago as she's pregnant. I haven't really tried it myself but I might do to jazz up my evening tonic!

How is everyone getting on this weekend?

Food was good yesterday, I went out on Friday but with SlimmingWorld friends so we all stuck to Diet Coke, no starters or puddings and had grilled kebabs with rice and salad in a delicious local Greek place.

Zumba yesterday morning which I ran to and ran home again! Lots of walking and riding today but my Fitbit has died so no steps today have been logged which is very annoying. But it does mean I'll get a new one next week and think I might upgrade.

Cinema tonight but I'm going to take some cherry Pepsi max with me and steer clear of popcorn. DS1 has been baking with DH this afternoon so I might take a small nibble of that to enjoy at the cinema.

Hi guys. Sorry for the absence. On the whole I’ve been good but sabotaged by too many social outings ! I was just about to stay nothing planned for October but forgot we’re on holiday for 10 days 🤦🏻‍♀️ Total loss so for for September is 3lb, bringing my overall total to 15lb which I’m thrilled about. Target for October holiday (5 weeks away) is another 7lb please !

Hope you’re all ok xx

I just go up and down by the save 2/3 lbs all the bloody time!

I'm stuck in a rut. Lost 5 stone over two years so feel so much better, smaller dress size than I've been fit probably 20 years but the last 10lb are very stubborn. I'm so much happier with how I look that the burning motivation just isn't there. Confused

16:8 has slipped this week so back on that. Scrambled eggs for tea tonight and tomorrow too.

I WILL resist the biscuits!

Hmm. Not great here. As you may have suspected by my absence!

Too many carbs. Crisps. Wine. Bread. Sausage rolls. All of the bad things.

Going to read Lisa Reilly’s Honesty Diet again. I read it last year and it started me off. The mental side more that the actual diet.

Anyway. Back at it today. Just had a nectarine with Greek yoghurt for breakfast. Planning on making soup for lunch I think.

Dinner however is chicken parmigiana. Requested by DH. Not ideal but not too bad. Found a recipe with the calorie and nutrition count so I can track it. Will limit the pasta and have salad. Or maybe just veg.

Quim - currently have the Garden Seedlip. I quite like it.

Hello hello! Sorry I reappeared and then went AWOL. And thanks so much for the lovely welcome. I love you lot!

Well last week was a total disaster as I ended up away on business for three days. Then topped it off with an even worse weekend. I haven't weighed this morning. I'm too scared.

But I am back on it now. Promise.

I also forgot to mention that I currently have a sprained ankle which is making moving very difficult

Hello Slenderistas! Happy Monday!

Ello is that 2lb down after an off-rails weekend? That's amazing if so, and also amazing if you meant it's a STS! As you probably know I've lost / more or less maintained by just focusing during the week, so although obviously you want to maximise your results by not going bananas on the weekend, I think at least keeping your treats to there must make a difference Smile

Red that sounds like a bloody golden weekend! Going out with dieting friends must be great, you can all keep each other on the straight and narrow. The last few lbs are so annoying, but they'll go if you just keep plugging away at it - if nothing else it's good to just keep hold of how much better you feel now, and that it's this lifestyle which has got you here and will keep you here even if the last bit is being stubborn, rather than focusing on the numbers going down. Easier said than done, I know - the sense of achievement is the thing that keeps me going too. I didn't realise (or had forgotten) you've lost so much overall, you must look like a new woman Shock

sweetsorrow Social outings are my downfall too. 15lbs is fantastic though, well done! And you didn't even come on here and do the Stone Dance! I'd like you to do it now please, it's too much of a milestone to be missed Grin

Peri I haven't heard of that one, what's the hook? I think chicken parmigiana is fine as long as you don't go berserk on the portion size, as you say a modest amount with a pile of salad should be fine.

BOOP a sprained ankle! You poor thing, how'd you do that? I think I'd go absolutely spare if I sustained any kind of injury that prevented me walking - I buggered my Achilles tendon last year and I only had to stay off the walking for a few days, and was very grumpy Blush Being away with work is a write-off, there is no possible way to stay on a diet.

I had an appalling weekend food-wise, we had people over on Sat and I christened my new raclette grill. It was SO yummy, basically just a huge amount of meat and melted cheese on potatoes and bread. I also made chocolate chip cookie bars which were bloody amazing. No regrets Grin

BOOP I fell down a hole. Don't ask Grin

Raclette is just food of the gods! We had the Tartiflette last night that someone posted here. I was so lovely so thank you for that. So far so good today...

Hi everyone

I’ve got Shingles ☹️ Can’t go out for a month, am on strong antiviral tablets cos have a compromised immune system due to ME. feel really low and itching like mad. Diet OFF but know I’ll regret it.

Hi to all returners. Will post again when feel better.

Oh no paws you poor thing. No wonder you feel fed up. I hope you feel better soon

Oh no Paws! That’s just what you didn’t need!

I know you say diet is off but I think you’ll feel better quicker if you aim to eat as healthily as possible. Not suggesting worrying about calories or carbs etc but lots of fruit and veg. I think I saw on offer on MN for Hello Fresh here. Might be worth a look?

I had a good day yesterday. Had a glass and a half of wine and a small bag of popcorn as a treat. All within calories.

Made the chicken parmigiana which went down well. We struggle to find things fussy DS will eat (although he is 18!). So it’s good to have another meal on the rota that all three of us will eat! Found the recipe I used on a healthy eating blog so it wasn’t too bad.

I must try that Tartiflette. Sounds good.

Hope you are doing ok BOOP. It’s so hard to get back into it after a break.

I had a 100% Golden day yesterday and much longer, better quality sleep too so I feel all up and at it again today.

Also managed to get a doc's appointment for my ankle - only too 77 calls to get through Confused

Report
QuimReaper · 24/09/2019 10:52

Quim, I mean BOOP, that is magnificent Grin I hope it was a nice deep hole so you have a dramatic tale and a comparatively minimal injury, rather than a comically small hole and are in disproportionate amounts of pain! The improved sleep is such an incentive for me to be golden, I am obsessed with my FitBit sleep stats and feel a bizarre sense of achievement when I see a night's sleep with minimal disturbances Confused

paws Oh God no! I had a friend who had shingles and she felt rotten with it - you poor thing! And a month housebound is an awful prospect, my extreme sympathies. I think some self-care is definitely in order, although I agree with Peri that good food will make you feel better in the long run once you feel up to it. Once your energy's back a bit, maybe you could see the enforced confinement as a chance to try out some new recipes or something? If you come out of the other side of it feeling like you kept things from going thoroughly off the rails, you'll feel proud as punch with yourself.

I got 8000 steps in this morning in the POURING rain, I got absolutely DROWNED and would like a Commitment to Steps Platinum Achievement Award please. And of course it stopped when I was 5 minutes away and as wet as it's possible to be. I was prepared with dry jeans and socks so it could be worse, but it was fucking miserable and I'm not looking forward to putting my soaking wet shoes back on. Bah.

Report
BitOutOfPractice · 24/09/2019 11:17

It was a massive hole. And apparently looked very comical. So I’ve had zero sympathy even though my ankle is twice the normal size nearly 4 weeks later.

Golden day two in progress as we speak
