New thread!

Well it looks like I'm 3lb up on pre holiday weight so that's pretty good. I've been on damage control the last few days so will do my best to keep focused (pesky Oreo thins getting in the way!)

Here's to a lighter September for us all!

Welcome back stellar and Peridot!

Red definitely completely justified in this instance. Are you feeling a bit less wobbly? What a lovely thought about the plants, you'll be able to remember your lovely fluffball every time you see them / they come into bloom Smile

Peridot Are you Head Chef in your house? I am in mine, so MrQuim low carbs when he's told to Grin I used to sometimes do a portion of carbs as a side for him, but he started saying he wanted to eat less carbs too, so I haven't done in ages. Pork stroganoff sounds yummy, I must look into that. MrQuim hates mushrooms though, would it survive losing those do you think?

Hi Quim. No I’m not head chef. He is. And to be fair he is pretty good at cooking according to whatever plan I am following! To add complications we have a fairly fussy 18 year old to feed as well. So we often end up DH and I eating one thing and DS another or DH and DS eat and I will have something different. And we try to have a few nights a week were we all eat the same.

Anyway. Having watched DH make him and DS bacon sandwiches this morning I’m knocking the low carb on the head! At least strict Atkins type which is what DH means by low carb. So back to eating healthy, counting calories and limiting carbs. Much more family friendly really as we were in a routine of having a menu rotation that worked for us all.

I sort of ended up doing 16/8 today as didn’t get around to breakfast other than a cup of tea. Have just had a big chicken and avocado salad.

Re the stroganoff - I’m sure you could do without mushrooms. Worth a try anyway!

Hello! Remember me anyone?

I have had a super stressful year at work and totally taken my eye off the ball and I now need to lose 2 stone. I am thoroughly ashamed of myself.

I also totally left Mumsnet as I found it such a drain on my time so I lost track of you lovely lot! (And I'm a bit nervous of getting sucked back in to be honest!)

Anyway, I am back on it today (and bored already!) diet wise and need to get back to the gym (though I have a sprained ankle at the mo).

Be gentle Grin

My plan today is:

B: greek yogurt with raspberries and a dessert spoon of granola
L: Chorizo and butterbean soup, two breadsticks
D: turkey and pea keema, low carb "rice"

Hello to the returnees!

I've got a stone to go so I'm girding my loins to crack on and get it shifted by Xmas.

Back on 16:8 today, went for a short run as didn't have time for any longer. I've borrowed a hula hoop from work so going to hula hoop while I watch AHS tonight on Netflix so get back steps up to a respectable level. Realised I can skip with the hoop to going to throw that into the mix.

Day 1 done and dusted! Am in bed as I’m tired and also getting a bit peckish.

Elloello - I keep thinking about doing the Fast 800. I have the book so might actually read it!

Welcome back boop. Good to see you here again. You were a really good support when I first joined this thread. And well done for kicking the MN habit. I've been low MNing for a while now but it's a hard habit to break Grin

Well done red shoes. You are doing so well. I need to try hula hooping. Borrowing one is a great idea. I don't want to add to the exercise fad graveyard by buying anything else.

I was quite amazed that I was still 11 3 this morning. I didn't expect it after a weekend of curry and cider. I was away with dd at a uni open day and we made a weekend of it. I managed plenty of steps plus burned lots of nervous energy because she drove me on the motorway for the first time Shock

I'm back on the wagon today and determined to have a good week. Red your mention of Christmas has made me realise I have got myself to my lowest weight in the last two Novembers. I need to do the same again so any Christmas gain isn't too drastic.

BOOOOOOOOOOP! Welcome back me old mucker, good to see your name round here again! I wondered what'd happened to you. Hope life's been treating you well, albeit busy? I've sometimes dabbled with the idea of kicking MN but I'm too hooked. Who else would have the patience to celebrate my piddly 200g losses with me?! You're right though, I have been on a bit of a winning streak, I'm so delighted - last Fri I was 900g under my goal weight, so I might have actually been at said goal weight for a whole day! Pretty amazing to start seeing movement again after SO long in stucksville. I'm going to brave a Monday morning weigh in soon. Gulp.

Ello that sounds like a lot of bang for 800, great job on that menu! I bet you'll see really fast results if you can keep that up.

Red how did you find the hooping? Trying to work out skipping with it - I think I'd trip myself up! Do you have a huge hoop, or are you very dainty?! I wanted to hoop this evening but I've got awful indigestion Blush

I've got a weird made-up stew going on for tomorrow's dinner which I started on tonight. Chickpeas, tomatoes, coconut milk, to have that Linda McCartney pulled "chicken" HairsprayBabe used to like and kale added tomorrow. It tasted delicious before I added the coconut milk, now it tastes kind of bland, sort of wishing I had left it as a tomato stew. Will see how it turns out...

BOOP feels like we've been on the same putting on boat.
Did really well yesterday till I got tired and had some chocolate.

Today's plan

Overnight oats
Lentil soup and sushi
Some kind of egg/veg concoction for dinner...

Morning all.

Day 2.

Just had some Ella’s Kitchen Bircher Muesli for breakfast.
Lunch will be chicken and avocado salad again.
Dinner I’m not sure about. I’m going to the cinema with a friend for 6 pm and she has already said she has vouchers to use up so we can have a scoop of ice cream each. That might have to be dinner!

Ellloello - I will read the book. Afraid of going too low calorie wise!

Chicken and avocado salad sounds delicious

Quim I'd love to be dainty! Statuesque is probably more realistic (more polite than hefty!) I'm 5ft 9 and 12.5 stone (give or take a few lb's between friends!!) the hoop is ginormous! I had to move furniture back to fit it in my narrow living room last night.

Feel like I'm coming down with a cold but pushing on through, planning a run and riding tonight after work. Food is good. Scrambled eggs with mushrooms for tea last night and will do the same tonight to save a few calls.

My chicken and avocado salad didn’t have much avocado as it was a bit gone off so I had to cut a lot off. Added some chopped grapes to pad it out which was really nice! Dressing wasn’t too healthy though. Using up a Caesar salad dressing and used a bit too much. Was good though!

The salad sounds lovely.

Today I've had:

Porridge with blueberries
Carrot soup with two slices of bread
Some walnuts and 2 apples

I think dinner might be tuna and cous cous

I'm definitely in the zone! Oh and I was 11 stone 2.2 this morning. That's about one mars bar outside a healthy BMI Grin

Well done Kick!

Went to the cinema. Had ice cream. And nachos. Oops.

Nothing else though. That was dinner. I figure it’s better than having dinner and then eating crap at the cinema!

Although watching JLo strutting her stuff was enough to remind me I didn’t need to eat all the nachos!

Ooooh Peridot grapes is such a good sub, I'd never have thought of that, I'll have to try it out! Be lovely with any kind of strong cheese too, if you were to use that as a garnish.

(Speaking of which, I made my husband a salad to take to work, with chicken drumsticks on a bed of salad with chopped tomatoes, olives, avocado and a bit of blue cheese. I left the drumsticks cooling on top of the tupperware in foil to add in the morning and he just moved them out of the way and took the veg / blue cheese salad to work Confused Not a very filling meal I'd imagine!)

I reckon ice cream and nachos is borderline compulsory at the cinema Grin I went to see Downton Abbey last week and had a huge sweet popcorn and Prosecco, AND I had dinner, so you still get a thumbs up from me! QuimReaper, making other people feel better about their life choices since ...

Kick that's terrific, what an exciting milestone! You'll be there in no time, if you're not already! I should start cooking with tuna more, it's so yummy, but I always default to salmon or sea bass / bream.

My chickpea / pulled "chicken" thing turned out pretty well in the end last night. It was pretty heavy though, and I think I kiboshed my weight loss last week with a big black bean chilli, and they're lower in carbs than chickpeas, so I'm not hopeful for this week's weigh-in. The good news is it was vegan though, and I'm making a veg frittata tonight, so I feel pretty virtuous about that.

Good day yesterday. Till evening. Had wine. Really bad idea.

Anyway. Back at it today.

Am off to Australia again in November and I really want to lose the weight I’ve put on since I was last there. Was just talking to my friend there and we are both in the same boat.

I need to stop drinking. It’s my main issue. Both the calories and what I end up eating after.
