Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

@cricketmum84 gosh I love that, ‘would I eat this on a Wednesday?’ I think I’ll find that really helpful!

I could fit in a run or two this weekend, need to get motivated!

WoollyFoolly · 28/09/2019 09:40

Morning lovely losers!
Mrscog, I do relax a bit at weekends but adjust for it. For example last night I had a chicken curry and some chocolate biscuits but hadn't hadn't lunch so overall cals are still low. I stick to 16:8 during the week but often have breakfast if I fancy it at the weekend (cinnamon&raisin bagel this morning).

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 28/09/2019 10:19

@cricketmum84 I do exactly the same- add all my meals to MFP first thing and then plan what snacks I can have. I use almost half of my calories on snacks most days ha!

I've just weighed in and I'm actually back down to 10 stone 8 but in kg I'm 0.2 lighter that last week. I'm going to push for that extra lb before Tuesday!
It's helped motivate me now!

Jeez, wouldn't it be more effective @dawnlecoe if you didn't spam loads of weight loss threads all at once with the same link? At least make an effort to appear as a normal forum user. Reported.

@WoollyFoolly 😂😂😂

Down to 10.12.75 this morning although it might be due to dehydration after 2 G&Ts last night. Just has a coffee and cake date with a friend but not going to eat anything until dinner time now, cake was ridiculously rich!

beforeIhit30 · 28/09/2019 15:12

Wow well done @cricketmum84 !

I’ve noticed an influx of spam across several boards @WoollyFoolly I do wonder if it’s an effective method of promoting their product?!

Today:
B: leftovers (some bbq pork ribs and chicken meat), coleslaw, creamy coffee, and Greek yoghurt with strawberries and seed and nut mix.
D: slow roast leg of lamb with greens (peas, spinach, maybe some green beans).

WoollyFoolly · 28/09/2019 20:46

Well I think I've probably undone my fab September tonight with a cocktail and a massive burger but hey ho! Staying in a hotel tonight so the challenge will be to resist breakfast in the morning 🤨

cricketmum84 · 28/09/2019 23:21

I've not done great today to be honest. Shared some spicy naan bread crisps with DH this afternoon. He ate a lot more than me though.

He made me a LM burger for tea with loads of salad leaves and a few cops for tea. I managed half the burger.

Too much wine though. Oops! Hic!

Cops=chips.

Wine typing 😂😂

Am on what has turned into a culinary tour of this city's best restaurants for our romantic getaway. Am only eating small portions of everything though, as it is all so filling!

Yesterday:

B: spoonful scrambled eggs, mushrooms, spoonful baked beans, 2 rashers back bacon, watermelon slices, black coffee

L: 1/3 chicken wholemeal baguette. 1/2 pint.

D: curried mushrooms, Nepalese lamb stew, 1/2 roti. Soda water. Small portion honey ice cream.

Think will be keeping it light at hotel breakfast today!

cricketmum84 · 29/09/2019 09:58

@Sigh81 ooh that sounds like a very tasty day!

19.3 this morning!! Looks like I'm back in the fat burning zone :) 10lbs off for September and 5 stone 13lbs so far! So close to that 6 stone mini target!

The kids have begged to go to Chinese buffet for dinner later. I've agreed but will be very restrained. It's quite a small place and they usually only have 1 vegetarian dish so it's not like I'll be wanting a bit of everything anyway lol!

No wine for me today 😂

Well done@cricketmum84, fantastic loss, that's an amazing achievement. I wish I could have your seemingly low appetite and restraint.!
I have had a couple of nights out which is unusual for me. Lots of food and drink, drink in particular seems to be an issue for me in gaining weight.
So going to try to be extra restrained over the next 2 days, hoping to drop back down so that I finish the month maintaining the 6lb loss i had achieved.
On the subject of appetite, what do people find are the most filling, low cal foods that work for them. ?
Have a good day everyone xx

cricketmum84 · 29/09/2019 11:32

@Onesmallstep67 the low appetite is quite a new thing for me. I was on an AD up until July that is known for in reading appetite. When I came off them my appetite just completely fell away. And then because I was eating much smaller amounts for ages I think my stomach must have shrunk so now I get the full feeling after a much smaller amount.

I don't often feel hungry but I think that's stress related.

Morning all. I’m planning spicy bean wraps for lunch and a bean & pearl barley stew for dinner. I’m quite interested in seeing whether I lost anything at all this month. I’ve gone off plan for weeks on end, but I’ve promised myself I’ll be better in October 😁

Mrscog · 29/09/2019 11:52

Well done everyone! I tried on the barometer dress this morning which was almost too small to get on last Sunday. It’s still unwearable, but less unwearable than last Sunday! It’s given me the motivation to keep going!

Onesmallstep67 · 29/09/2019 11:56

@cricketmum84, I'm sure you would prefer to feel less stressed but hopefully in time that will improve. And if there is any upside (?) to it then at least losing weight could be seen as a definite positive. I've been having a bit of a mixed time of late and have developed a knot of anxiety in my stomach which last time I had lead to weight loss. But it's not a very nice feeling.
I know that this is primarily a weight loss / motivation thread but I also find reading about the challenges some of us are facing in life helps to remind me that most people are dealing with something and life is rarely perfect x

cricketmum84 · 29/09/2019 12:11

Well Chinese buffet isn't happening today.

DDDS wanted to go out with friends today. I told her at 12 yesterday if she wanted to go then she needed to sort her room out because it's disgusting. Obviously she hasn't done it but was adamant she was still going. Told her a million times she wasn't going anywhere or getting a penny in pocket money until it was done.

She's then grabbed the keys and gone to run out of the house (she's run away lots and police have to bring her home). DH tried to grab the keys away but she fought back and ran to the door and off into the pouring rain with no coat, money or phone.

I was shaking too much to drive so DH went out in the car searching for her. Managed to find her and bring her home. But she has gone absolutely crazy, broken the living room door, punched a hole in her door, screaming and shouting and swearing at me that she's going to report him to the police.

DH has taken little DD down to his sisters for a bit as she is terrified.

All has gone quiet for 10 minutes so just trying to gather myself and stop shaking before I decide what to do next.

Congrats @Mrscog it’s great to have mini motivators! Years back after DC1 I was on MFP to lose weight through calorie counting, and I found the concept of NSVs (non scale victories) really good and motivating. The reality is the scale is only one part of it, so it’s good to see all of the other benefits too.

@cricketmum84 I have no wise words but wishing you peace and support Flowers

Today:
B: omelette with lardons, tomatoes and spring onions, and creamy coffee.
D: will be slow roast lamb again (from yesterday), probably with coleslaw.

mealticket · 29/09/2019 14:28

@cricketmum84 - I am sorry to hear you are absolutely going through it with your DD/S at the moment. What a nightmare for you all, no wonder you enjoyed the wine last night...

I'm not doing too bad this week has had its fair share of ups and downs.. but here goes:

1st Sept: 14 stone 6 // 92.8 kg // 204.6 lbs
8th Sept: 14 stone 0 // 88.9kg // 196 lbs
15th Sept: 13 stone 9 // 86.8kg // 191 lbs
22nd Sept: 13 stone 6 // 85.5kg // 188 lbs
29th Sept: 13 stone 3 // 84.1kg // 185lbs

Not as good a loss as previous weeks but I'm really happy with that. I cannot wait to get into the 12s so that's my next mission.

Good luck all you losers - countdown is on to October!

beforeIhit30 · 29/09/2019 14:45

@mealticket 3lb in a week is fantastic! And you’ve had a great month, well done Smile

cricketmum84 · 29/09/2019 15:02

@mealticket that's an amazing loss for September! Huge huge well done!

@Mrscog you will be in that dress in no time at all!

@Onesmallstep67 sorry in all the stress I forgot to answer your question!! I find the best low cal but filling things to be raw veg like carrot and pepper sticks with a fat free yoghurt and mint dip to make them a bit more interesting. I think your body has to work harder to digest them so you feel fuller for longer. Also good low fat protein choices. I don't eat meat so things like fat free cottage cheese, eggs and lentils. I find lentils especially filling.

cricketmum84 · 29/09/2019 15:13

DDDS has gone to her friends to calm down. I feel like I've given in but I thought we all needed a bit of space to be honest.

In other news I've just ordered new boots :) so good for stress levels!!

Had to measure my calves to know which calf width to order and I'm in absolute disbelief as I've lost 12cm off both calves since the last time I ordered boots last year!!! And down 4 calf sizes.

Also my new boots are gorgeous :)

Onesmallstep67 · 29/09/2019 15:23

@cricketmum84, absolutely no need to apologise for not answering my question. You've had a terribly difficult morning. I'm sure we all send you our best wishes and hope that you and your DD/S find ways to manage this huge, life changing situation. I don't know what steps you have already taken but maybe YOU need some support and advice as how best to help them ( I know they refused a counselling session for themselves the other day, that's not to say you don't need help with this ) you may be offered advice as to when/how to get your DD/S to open up to you ( if that is what it feels like is needed)
Thanks for the ideas on filling foods. I certainly need to re focus on my eating habits x
