Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

I seem to be stuck and have been for I think at least a week. I'm still 6lbs down for September and still 5/6 days to shift the extra pound so I hit the target but feeling a bit meh about it.
I find reading the posts here encouraging though, lovely to hear of the losses but maybe consoled a little that others are also having good and bad days. It seems our bodies have their own idea about how things should be sometimes !
Hoping that something happens to perk me up a little and get me back on track with renewed energy and focus. Fingers crossed ! xx

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 25/09/2019 11:53

I'm so jealous of some of your losses! Well done!

I weighed yesterday as 10.9 and this morning as 10.12??!! I actually do feel bigger today for some reason, but I've been good since Monday so hoping it's just water. I'm going to weigh in again on Friday and log it on MFP.

Usual plan of soup and bread roll for lunch. Unsure what I'll have for tea yet. I've got a packet of popcorn for a snack if I need it.

Have a lovely day!!

Crazzzycat · 25/09/2019 12:32

I weighed myself this morning and so far have only managed to shift 1 kg this month. I’m ok with that though. I spent almost two weeks this month overeating and still have a small loss, so that’s not too bad.

My plan for today is Spicy bean wraps for lunch and an experimental bean & barley soup for dinner. Snacks will be 2 satsumas, a soya yoghurt, some almonds and a few corn thins with pumpkin seed butter and a banana.

I’ve been feeling a bit stressed this month, so am hoping that by giving myself a few more calories this week I can fight off any urges to binge (and still maintain weight!). It’s been working so far 🤞

WoollyFoolly · 25/09/2019 14:18

Crazzzycat what do you have in your spicy bean wraps? I love food like that!

Crazzzycat · 25/09/2019 14:41

Woolly I use the recipe below, with some tweaks. If I make them just for me, I use hot chilli powder instead of mild and also add 1/2 tsp of smoked paprika and chopped jalapeños. I also leave out the onion and add more garlic and a bit more cheese. That’s actually quite a lot of modifications 😄

Anyway, here’s the original inspiration:

beforeIhit30 · 25/09/2019 18:03

Weighed today on a whim, weighed myself a week ago and was first time I’d weighed since giving birth. Well I’ve lost 1lb, which I wasn’t expecting but really glad not to have gained!

Today:
B: creamy coffee
L: coleslaw, salami, cheddar then strawberries, mascarpone, almond butter
D: chicken, bacon, mixed salad and baba ganoush

beforeIhit30 · 25/09/2019 18:05

@Crazzzycat ooh what is pumpkin seed butter like? We have a variety of nut butters but I’ve not seen pumpkin seed butter before.

Crazzzycat · 25/09/2019 18:37

@beforeIhit30 I make my own and it’s seriously delicious 😋 I never thought pumpkin seeds could taste that nice to be honest!

It’s not that hard to make if you have a food processer. Here’s the recipe I use:

www.momables.com/cinnamon-pumpkin-seed-butter-recipe/

Failing that, I’m sure I’ve seen pumpkin seed butter in Holland & Barrett’s 🤔 If you add a touch of cinnamon to that and may be a bit of maple syrup, you probably end up with something very similar to this.

I started making this after realising that pumpkin seeds are a decent source of iron, which is something I struggle to get enough of as a vegetarian. I can’t really get excited about eating lots of raw seeds, but this butter is a real treat!

cricketmum84 · 25/09/2019 18:47

Food plan has gone out of the window again!!

I picked up a salad from Morrison's. Sweet potato pakora and mixed grains. I didn't look at it properly and there was hummous in there too. 475 calories!!! For a salad!!! And now my stomach feels awful.

Dinner plans went awry. I'm working all flipping night again after one of my team f-Ed up AGAIN. So now I get to stay up until midnight sorting it. DH is doing some chicken for him and the kids and has dug me a portion of veggie curry and rice out of the freezer. Home made though with tomato based sauce so very low calorie.

I'm also massively stressed so having a wine.

Thanks @Crazzzycat that sounds delicious, especially with cinnamon! I thought the seed butter itself sounded interesting but with cinnamon... Grin looks pretty easy to whip up, I’ll have to try it out once I’ve got some pumpkin seeds in. I didn’t know they were a good source of iron, that’s good to know. I tend to rely on a lot on spinach and almonds!

Oh no @cricketmum84 that sounds rotten Sad hope it all gets sorted quickly.

cricketmum84 · 25/09/2019 19:20

@beforeIhit30 deadline is tomorrow 9am so I have no choice but to get it fixed tonight.

I need to be mean and stern tomorrow at his 121 but I'm just not very good at being mean and stern lol!

OP posts:
Tanaqui · 25/09/2019 19:54

Wow, some of you are doing amazingly, well done! Cricket, channel some pissed off anger at him- he's given you stress and extra work, pay it back!

Well after my horrific bingy week I weighed in at 144lb this morning, what I was at the start of August! Am seriously hoping I can't have gained half a stone in a week, but I must not get that tired again. Today I ate a lot, but in 3 proper meals, so no binging; and I went to the gym. Hope I can drop back a bit in the next few days Sad..

Ihatesundays · 25/09/2019 20:48

I’m doing awful. I’ve started a new job and I am struggling with food. 16;8 has gone out of the window totally.
DH cooked and we ate so late tonight.
I’d forgotten how starving I could be in an office job!

twobambinos · 25/09/2019 21:15

@Mammyloveswine wow a half a stone in a week that is amazing.

A few treats fell into my mouth today but I skipped lunch so I think it will balance out a bit. Also managed to get in a good walk too and worked up a sweat.

Plan for tomorrow long walk in the morning to kick start the day.

HollyTheHarrier · 25/09/2019 21:23

@cricketmum84 I am hoping it’s water weight! Sorry about the work situation, I have totally been there with having to fix crises at midnight and it’s so frustrating. At his 121 instead of feeling ‘mean’ can you get him to tell you what he thinks the consequences of his error were and what he can do to stop it happening again?

Today was mixed. Banana for breakfast, falafel salad and plain yoghurt for lunch, chicken flatbread and houmous for dinner. But also had a shortbread cookie, a Costa latte and a few chocolate buttons 🙈 hey ho. Going to go to bed shortly so that will be it

beforeIhit30 · 25/09/2019 21:27

Good luck with it @cricketmum84! You can be factual in the 121 which will handle the mean and stern - I find that works, I’m not a tough person but I’m also not always sure how to tread the line of ‘you need telling’ and just being too harsh! So factual works for me - “you did/didn’t do x and this was the impact/result, these are the areas that need to improve” etc...”.

Sorry I didn’t set out to try and lecture you on management Blush just sympathising! I had someone once who really was just terrible... actually made me a bit sad as I had to go down the formal route in the end...

@Tanaqui that’s really unlikely, if you’ve eaten more than usual or things you wouldn’t normally have (compared with recently) then it’s probably bloat, maybe water as well especially if you’ve had salty things, so hopefully should settle off a bit; I’ve certainly had similar before.

cricketmum84 · 25/09/2019 21:58

Not at all @beforeIhit30! Any suggestions on how to deal with him are gratefully recurved!

Although I'm not new to the role I'm quite new to having people management as part of the role and haven't had any training in performance management. Also whenever I speak to him about missed targets and deadlines (literally unforgivable in my line of work) he looks at me like a puppy that's just been kicked and then I feel awful!!

I really must work on being more assertive!

@Ihatesundays If you can eat at your desk what about taking some raw veg sticks for snacks? We get free fruit but I always feel bad about all the sugar.

OP posts:
cricketmum84 · 25/09/2019 21:58

*received!! Not recurved Grin

OP posts:
Tanaqui · 26/09/2019 05:57

Can you ask for training Cricket? It could be interesting. And if that is part of your role you should be given training in it.
Thanks @beforeIhit30, I ate everything! Mainly bread/cereal/cheese, so I hope some is bloat. 10.2.2 this morning - and I was so happy to be in the nines before!! Hope you have a good day!

Mrscog · 26/09/2019 06:24

Morning everyone, I can’t believe it, I’ve just weighed in 2kg lighter than Sunday! I did suspect some of it was bloating/water retention, but I do feel inspired to carry on now as I have another 2kg to loose now and this will invariably be slower! Made a delicious chicken and chickpea tagine yesterday so will probably take that into work for lunch.
@cricketmum84 people management is so hard, it’s taken me ages to develop. The best thing is to be direct, make the point and make it clear what will happen if it happens again. Keep a log of each incident and decide what your threshold is for more formal performance management. Do you have any other managers you can chat to?

Onwards with the healthy choices everyone. I’m going to weigh in and try on my ‘barometer dress’ on Sunday as my next progress check.

cricketmum84 · 26/09/2019 06:41

Sorry I feel like I'm derailing the thread a little.

I'm a contractor doing an 18 month FTC so not eligible for any work training. I guess they don't want to invest in someone who isn't going to be there for long.

I had a team in another role about 4 years ago but they all just did what they were meant to be doing and I never had to deal with this!!

So close!!! 😱

Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!!
lightlypoached · 26/09/2019 07:28

Morning !
60.8/31% so going in the right direction.

Crazzzycat · 26/09/2019 12:51

Woop woop Woolly 🙌. It’s so inspiring to see everyone’s progress on this thread!

My plan for today is spicy bean wrap for lunch (of course! 😄) and crispy teriyaki tofu stir fry for dinner.
Snacks will be 2 satsumas, a soy yoghurt, a couple of corn thins with pumpkin seed butter & banana and may be a square of dark chocolate 🤔

Jeds55 · 26/09/2019 14:06

Struggling today. Have a cold and so tired, dd not sleeping well at all. Been good so far but all the quick sugar rush food is calling to me. Hopefully can find some will power from somewhere...
