Hey, can I join? I've got some questions... what would be the best way to lose 4 stone by middle of May? I've just had a baby 4 weeks ago and my sister got engaged this week but the wedding has been booked for about the 20th May (forward thinking for venues etc, good on her) and I'll be the MoH. I'm currently 17st 8oz and 5'8 so I don't look massive but I know I need to lose the weight and would love to get to a size 14 at least, something that will be possible if I lose the 4 stone.

My biggest problem is my hips and legs. Do you have any suggestions about losing weight from this area? Once I've got to 3 months post partum I'll be able to start toning up my stomach, but can do squats and walk now to help shake some weight off my legs I guess.

I've done slimming world before for a few weeks (never stuck to it as I was purely supporting my friend in her journey so didn't really lose much).

I'm at a complete loss.

Happierwithouthim · 18/10/2019 12:18

Hi deaddoorpost Congrats on your new baby.

I would say don't have a figure in mind to lose for wedding because if you don't get there you'll be disappointed. I got married four months after dd was born and lost 10lbs for it. You've double that time but you need to look after you and baby too.

Focus on healthy eating and moving more and not eating just because you're bored etc

WreckTangled · 18/10/2019 12:46

Hope you're ok wolf.

DeadDoor welcome! You can't spot reduce fat unfortunately. Are you breastfeeding? Personally I found the best way to lose weight was by having two meals a day (skipping breakfast), no snacks and counting calories. I would still eat a biscuit etc as long as I had it straight after lunch/dinner and it fitted into my calories that was I never felt like I was missing out of anything.

Not2bObvious · 18/10/2019 13:09

Scales down 1+ today so I’m only a pound off on pre weekend away weight (of course that was 2lb up on pre-summer weight but hey ho) Had a friend over last night so vino & crisps taken. I’ve felt better, but still squeezing steps in here & there as I’m working from home today.
Congrats on the baby Ddp - can’t type that all out so that’s my nn for you😉 I was a bit over 15 stone after both my babies and between walking & breastfeeding I lost 4 stone in 4 months on the first - I nearly killed myself, and 3 stone in about a year on the second. Honestly first & foremost don’t look at the big picture, tackle it a pound at a time. As life said you can’t spot reduce and I hate to say this but don’t get hung up on toning, it’s a myth, getting body fat down & building muscle is what gives a toned look. Can’t tone fat, lord knows I tried for literally decades until it was explained clearly and quite harshly. Your diet is key right now, sod squats for the moment. Keep a food diary and do not attempt too harsh a calorie level, you need to mind yourself & your new cuddly bundle. Best of luck I’m sure you’ll do fantastic.

Thank you. Yes, I am breastfeeding, but whoever said you lose weight when doing so must have lied to me because I put 2.5stone after my son 2 years ago and he fed for England

Not2bObvious · 18/10/2019 14:05

I’d a friend who couldn’t lose the last stone until she stopped bf! I reckon your body protects its supply.

Happierwithouthim · 18/10/2019 14:21

I couldn't lose weight when breastfeeding either Smile

WreckTangled · 18/10/2019 14:22

I agree. Your body holds onto fat when breastfeeding!

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2019 17:01

Wolf. Look after yourself.

Fat Friday here. Too full and if I'm honest didn't really enjoy it. Too tired for gym and my meeting over ran.

I don't lose weight bf either.
Some good advice from the others which I concur with.
How many weeks to dress fitting of the wedding is may?

WreckTangled · 18/10/2019 19:28

I made a chocolate orange keto cake 😋 had it for dinner Grin

Happierwithouthim · 18/10/2019 19:41

Looks yummy wreck someone I follow on Instagram did chocolate lava cakes in airfryer last night, it's like I'm destined to have chocolate cake Grin

DeadDoorpost · 18/10/2019 20:19

@lifelongfrugaleer thankfully there shouldn't be a dress fitting as we'll be able to choose our own dresses. But DSM and I both sew so if any alterations needed to be done then we're covered. DSis isn't sure on our dresses yet though in terms of style, despite knowing the wedding day in advance. And looking at her Pinterest boards isn't any help 😂😂

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/10/2019 20:57

That's good then it gives you lots of options. So even if you aim for 1lb a week with a week off at Christmas and Easter. That's 29 ish weeks. That's 2 stone which will make a significant difference and importantly is achievable.

80/20 role. 80% nutritious food - fruit veg good protein and dairy within a calorie deficit
20% treats
With moving about each day more than you do now

CurvyInAllTheWrongPlaces · 18/10/2019 21:39

Hi DeadDoorpost 👋
Exciting news about your sister's wedding.
That is great advice from Life, I really need to remember that more!

Wolfcub · 19/10/2019 08:22

Up 1/2lb

WreckTangled · 19/10/2019 08:29

Weight down a smidge. Not 100% as I weighed with my pjs on.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/10/2019 10:37

Down here which is a suprise given yesterday gluttony

DeadDoorpost · 19/10/2019 12:41

Thanks life. Yeah, 2 stone would be good, definitely need to try and move more. Walked over 2 miles the other day but I paid for it so I'm going to have to take things slowly and build up. I just wanted to see what was achievable and what wasn't.

A lb a week seems like an easy enough target. I know I'd be able to do it if I stop eating chocolate. But then I also know I'd hate myself so reducing chocolate intake itself will help.

Not2bObvious · 19/10/2019 12:53

Up again but no great shocker after grazing the whole day yesterday on all the carbs. 10,000 in the bag already, exercise done so I’m going to have a lazy afternoon. Out to my db’s for dinner and must not drink all the wine, a bit of self restraint is badly needed.
What a nice start to a Saturday for you life, and a non naked weigh in showing a loss, this is indeed a wonderful day wreck. I swear I’m only short of taking out my earring and shaving my legs before weigh in!

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/10/2019 14:53

Don't cut anything out then DDP. You will feel restricted and prone to fail. Small amount of chocolate as a treat.
Walking is great and yes just build up. Little changes one at a time are more likely to succeed.
Weight everyday. Get used to your body fluctuations. Drink lots of waterexpecially as you are bf. I prefer squash mind.
You can totally do this.

Happierwithouthim · 19/10/2019 18:25

I sts today
Got out this morning for 1.5 mile run with dog as knew I was going to be spending the day sitting in car.

Must keep that 29 week thing in mind because I've 27lbs to lose. So could be done by Easter if I focused properly gears motivation.

lifelongfrugaleer · 19/10/2019 20:21

It just seems quite logical and achievable to me if you have a decent amount to lose

Not2bObvious · 19/10/2019 21:38

Wow only 29 weeks to Easter, I have a holiday booked the week coming up to that so 28 weeks for me. At the rate I lose & gain I’d be looking at 7lb if I were lucky. You’re so focused happier you could defo do it. Work what you like into your diet ddp, it’s the only way to stay consistent....and sane
