Anyone up for a big fat fresh start?

I'm fed up with being fat.

Anyone fancy joining me, starting from tomorrow with a weigh in?

It would be lovely to have some company.

I'm going to use today to stock up on healthy food and purchase some bathroom scales.

Drinkandknowthings, that sounds rough! Well done for holding your shit together. Kids are definitely sent to try us sometimes, just as well they're cute really :o

I agree Doseydots, I'm terrible for having "slip ups" and falling off the wagon because I don't see results instantly (so clearly it's not working 😂). But just logging on here once or twice a day is quite motivating!

Sevenandeight we all have shit days, a few days out of a lifetime won't make any difference in the grand scheme of things so please don't give up on yourself.

You started this thread and look how many of us have turned up to/for support alongside you, thanks for inspiring us too! If it hadn't been for this I would probably have waited for that elusive "next week..." Etc etc :)

Back on it today, just make smaller choices if you find that easier. I can't cope with massive changes so taking it one step at a time. It all leads to the same goal!

sevenandeight · 12/07/2019 08:23

Thanks @FannyFeatures

I am feeling a lot more positive now that I've showered and sorted myself out.

I've just squeezed myself into my jeans and realised why I really want to lose weight so today is a whole new day.

I'm just going to keep posting! Grin

You've got this 💪😁

@FannyFeatures

YES I HAVE Grin

Keep going sevenandeight, forget yesterday and just start again today.

I know a lot of people only weigh in once a week, but I do it every day as it keeps me motivated and on track. I've been on my exercise bike every day this week (absolute miracle for me), been sticking to 1200 calories, low carb, and have lost 7lb since Monday Shock If this is what exercise does then I'm definitely keeping it up. I can usually drop 6-7lb in the first week after going low carb, but this is in 4 days so I'm really pleased.

Doseydots · 12/07/2019 10:51

‘Seven’ please don’t delete us, you’ve started a good thread which is going well.

‘Fanny’ your name makes me smile. I am happy to post if it’s only to see your name Smile

I too weigh myself everyday as it keeps me motivated. This morning the scales were kind again. I just need to keep this up over the weekend.

I may need some help today I can already hear the binge voices in my head.

A poster further up the thread mentioned the brain over binge podcast. It’s a good listen and is helping me to keep on track. I would recommend giving it a go if you are struggling. There are loads of episodes but they are only between 20 and 30 mins.

sevenandeight · 12/07/2019 11:17

@Doseydots you were only temporarily deleted. I saw sense and reinstalled! Grin

Feeling a bit better about it all now.

Hi how is everyone doing? I'm trying to be good

breakfast 30g shreddies
snack medium banana
snack again - sesame breadsticks
snack again - half a homemade cheese scone.

I might have to forfeit lunch because tonight I'm out having cocktails and dinner with friends I haven't seen for months. I'm not forfeiting my dinner :)

@sevenandeight After a bad eating day I try to console myself with the fact that I no longer have to start a diet/healthy eating plan/fitness regime because I'm ALREADY ON A PLAN I just blipped for one day. Be kind to yourself. x

You are doing really well. Keep it up.

I've had one strawberry too towards my five a day Grin

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 12/07/2019 15:59

just popping in. I've been far from saintly this week, but on the (rare) occasions when I have lost weight in the past it's been with a more measured approach. IME if you restrict too much too soon the backlash binge is never far away, and that's really demotivating.

I haven't eaten mountains in the evening, and am trying to gradually tweak my portion sizes down so that I don't suddenly feel too hungry/deprived. Today I've had fruit for breakfast, sushi for lunch, and will have salmon, veg and spuds for supper. Looking forward to the weight in on Monday in the hope of being a pound or two down.

Pinkiii · 12/07/2019 17:14

Well done everyone for what you have achieved this week, whether its one good day or 4, its not easy and we’re all bound to slip up.

EvilHerbivore · 13/07/2019 00:24

This helps me when I'm having a wobble (or a family size bar of chocolate!)
The worst thing we can do is to think 'well I've had a bad day so it might as well be a bad week/month/year now because I've already blown it'
We are here and we're doing it - one teensy step at a time

Ending today in 1463 - thanks for this, the daily accountability helps

CCquavers · 13/07/2019 01:28

@EvilHerbivore I love this diagram.

I’ve just got home from a really good night with some lovely friends. I won’t talk about what main and pudding I had or the wine and cocktails but it was all fab and right now I know it was worth it.

Back on track tomorrow. Night everyone x

sevenandeight · 13/07/2019 07:05

@EvilHerbivore this is what I do. I eat one thing wrong and I think I've failed and then eat uncontrollably for days/weeks. I may as well be hanged for a sheep as a lamb. But actually it's pretty easy to recover from one slip up, you can just get back on it and move on. It doesn't have to be diet over.

This thread is definitely helping me to stay focused on what I want to achieve. Because you are all doing so well, it makes me want to stick at it. Baby baby steps Grin

The less said about today the better BUT Dh took a photo of me (I had to ask him to, I was feeding ducks with my girls) and I looked ok. I really need some new bras though. I fed both girls for 2 years and I’m a completely different size now.

tenthreginald · 14/07/2019 07:44

Yesterday was prosecco and crisps and then Chinese. Shame.

EvilHerbivore · 14/07/2019 08:10

Stayed over at a friends last night and weighed myself this morning as she has scales - big mistake
I'm loads heavier than I thought I was and feel all demotivated now

FannyFeatures · 14/07/2019 08:11

Morning all, I'm back! No kids or DH and no work led to me going a bit wild on the food front Fri/Sat - they're very fussy so I wanted a couple of days to eat what and when I wanted... Out of my system now and sensibility resumes with my work schedule today :o

sevenandeight · 14/07/2019 08:44

Morning

I was surprisingly good yesterday, I'm trying to make up for my two day fuck up mid week. I've got to be good today as tomorrow is the first weigh in.

Get back on it today ladies, the alternative is too depressing 😁

OP posts:
WalkAwaySugarbear · 14/07/2019 08:47

I had a bad day yesterday too. We were out all day with a kids party (pizza, yum) then visiting BIL and ended up going out for a meal, this is rare for us so we eat whatever we want when we go out and we were hungry. We were full, I was quite uncomfortable as I'd definitely cut down on my portions over the last few weeks. So I've not eaten since lunchtime, I think it'll be about 1-2 today before I get hungry.

I'm not beating myself up about the feast but will adjust my intake today. Slowly learning how to eat normally.

I've been brought up with food issues.

  • Large portions
  • must clear plates - this one I still struggle with.
  • half a loaf of buttered bread on the table with every meal.
  • teenage years brought emotional eating in secret.
Pinkiii · 14/07/2019 08:48

We have a friends bbq today so will
End up eating loads before weigh in tomorrow Confused

sevenandeight · 14/07/2019 08:52

@Pinkiii

I'm having a family bbq on Tuesday. I keep telling myself that I will be good but I know that I will just cave and eat everything in sight. I'm praying for rain so that I can cancel.

Apolloanddaphne · 14/07/2019 09:26

I have done my 2 fast days and eaten pretty much normally the other days. Fewer snacks and less alcohol over all but still eating plenty. It will be interesting to see what the scales say tomorrow.

If i have lost weight i will be thrilled as i think i can keep up this way of eating in the longer term.

I am going away for almost 2 weeks soon but i think i will manage to keep to the fast days as we are self catering in the UK.
