Anyone up for a big fat fresh start?

I'm fed up with being fat.

Anyone fancy joining me, starting from tomorrow with a weigh in?

It would be lovely to have some company.

I'm going to use today to stock up on healthy food and purchase some bathroom scales.

Hope everyone's day is going ok!

My DD had her first settling in session at school today (she starts in Sept) I dropped her off, got a bit emotional and then came home and went for a run! Had to do something as usually I'd dive straight into the sweets!

Not expecting a huge loss this week, but would be happy to feel less bloated and lethargic.

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 10/07/2019 16:37

Agree @Smokeonthewater don’t despair it’s only one day - we need to see this as more long term and not focus on individual days / meals. Also - short term diets that focus on self deprivation will never ever work medium or longer term I think.
I think the healthiest I have ever been was ironically when I had pregnancy related diabetes and had to dramatically cut out carbs and all refined sugar for 10 weeks, I never felt hungry as I ate lots of protein and had plenty of snacks and I didn’t crave sugar either after a week or so. When I had my baby I was in the best shape I’ve ever been in haha! (Which was then dramatically undone by months of bf/ sleepless bingeing and making up for lost time !!). So I’m trying to go back to some of those basic principles: fewer carbs - always paired with a fat or a protein, plenty of protein and never ever low fat things (they are usually pumped full of sugar!)

FannyFeatures · 10/07/2019 17:58

How's everyone's day been? So far so good here. Made stove top BBQ chicken (slimming eats blog recipe) with sweet potato chips and corn on the cob for dinner, everyone else had theirs on a bread roll but after actually thinking about it I decided against it... Bread is my downfall so that's a big deal :o

sevenandeight · 10/07/2019 18:51

I'm not feeling great today. I have a massive headache and everything seems such hard work.

I've eaten sensibly though as I don't have much of an appetite thanks to my headache.

Can't wait for bed time.

Awful day today too (mid week hump everyone?!)
Away with work so limited to what they serve - breakfast was pastries, lunch was sandwiches/crisps/cookies and Indian snacks and dinner was a Burger King. Probably gone a billion calories over Shock

CCquavers · 10/07/2019 19:09

Can I join please? I seriously need some help. Since March I've started about a billion diets and I'm slowly going mad. Good one day eat 4 snickers bars (and the rest) the next day...

I have about 5 stone to lose but will focus on 1 stone for this month/5 weeks. I've already lost 8 stone but put 1 back on. So a stone in the month is quite drastic but for my size it's very doable. I need to wear the clothes I bought for holiday this time last year.

I started on Tuesday and I'm sticking to 1500 cals a day and walking 10 - 15000 steps a day. Cannot face the gym. This is my witching hour.

sevenandeight · 10/07/2019 19:30

@CCquavers

Just wanted to say that I am pleased that you have joined us.

Good luck

My low carb plan didn’t fo well today, ended up having rice with dinner as i can’t resist it if its there.

Tomorrow is another day

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 10/07/2019 19:55

Welcome @CCquavers! And hope you feel better soon @sevenandeight!
Today not too bad - protein cereal bar for breakfast, avo and tomato on brown toast for lunch and having bolognaise with brown pasta for tea (bit of a cheat but did just manage a 30 minute run!) will almost certainly have a couple squares I’d dark choc tonight though!

tenthstreet · 10/07/2019 20:25

Hi checking in..

Baconbutties · 10/07/2019 20:26

I’ve amazingly had quite a good week so far. Trying to avoid snacking and drinking tea/coffee/diet squash instead. I always get hungry mid morning at work but never hungry for breakfast so started taking breakfast which is just fruit and yoghurt to work instead and having it about 1030 which I think helps. Have had lots of salad and fruit and trying to stick to fast 800 which I think I have done for 3 days now . I don’t have carbs until evening and just a small portion it seems to be working so far hope everyone else is ok just trying to be organised and taking food to work instead of buying things there

sevenandeight · 11/07/2019 08:22

Fingers crossed that we all have a good day today.

I was going to have a sneaky mid week weigh in but I decided against it incase it was bad news. I'm going to wait until Monday.

I definitely don't feel as bloated as I did.

How's everyone feeling?

Feeling good - also resisted the urge to weigh in last night and trying not to expect results too quickly in case it leads to disappointment and early giving up! Got a lunch out today so just gotta try and stay on track!! May be tricky though as has so little sleep with my little one last night !

Spinosaur · 11/07/2019 09:41

Hello all,

just checking in. I am on day 3 of the fast800 - am planning to do the 2 week and then shift onto the 5:2 as I want to get back to my running and it says not to train harder when on the 800. I have started (not done anything properly or consistently for a long time now) looking at Jessica Smith on Youtube. Another poster suggested her in a different thread and she is great. I haven't snacked and am using the recipe book as a guide. My downfall is snacking and portion size. I so want a bit of toast right now! Have a good rest of the week everybody.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 11/07/2019 12:36

Hi everyone,

I'm just checking in too. It's all going well so far but I too am resisting the temptation of weighing before Monday.

We had a team breakfast this morning — bacon butties all round — but I didn't order anything for me. I've got this Blush

Good luck for the weekend everyone. Catch you Monday Smile

FannyFeatures · 11/07/2019 12:54

Hey everyone, I woke up starving again this morning and working until 11 tonight so I'm not holding out much hope for today. Can't even decide what to have for lunch!

DH is taking the kids to his Mum's for a week tomorrow, I couldn't get the time off so I'll be here myself. Hoping it'll be a good kick start without the big multi packs of snacks around too!

B: 1 slice toast, 2 boiled eggs & apple
L: ??
D: Baked potato, tuna, cheese & salad
Snacks: Yogurt, melon, grapes & raspberries

tenthstreet · 11/07/2019 13:11

Today is going well! I'm current an hour into my 18 hour fast which will end tomorrow at breakfast time.

Drinkandknowthings · 11/07/2019 15:06

I am having a nightmare of a day - but have managed to stay on track food wise!

DD2 (who is 2) just wants to scream all day because I didn’t let her an ice pop for breakfast
DD1 (6) just wants to wind the 2 year old up and order her around (which DD2 screams more at)
It was raining all morning so once it stopped I got them into the field to run around (we live rurally) and DD2 who is potty trained just pee’d everywhere so back into the house to change.
Later she pee’d on the bedroom floor (I’d given them juice with lunch as a treat and forgot it goes straight through her) and I cleaned it up.
Little bit later I’m cleaning and step in the bigger puddle of pee that I’d missed.

Anyone got any gin????

EvilHerbivore · 11/07/2019 19:19

@Drinkandknowthings may have to console yourself with just the diet tonic, isn't there lots of calories in gin?!

Ending today on 1364 so happy with that, especially after yesterday's debacle!

Pinkiii · 11/07/2019 19:25

Think I did well today,

B: hard boiled eggs and plum tomatoes
L: tuna salad
D: red dhaal (small amount)

Hope everyone has done well today

Doseydots · 11/07/2019 21:51

Good evening, I can’t believe I have had 4 days being good. The scales were kind today too this morning . I have been doing 16:8, no S and logging my food. I haven’t even had a craving, I am normally good for 3 days max so I have an extra day under my belt this week. It amazing how a mumsnet thread can be so motivating.

sevenandeight · 12/07/2019 07:01

Well unfortunately yesterday was an utter disaster on the food front.

I'm so fed up with myself and felt really tearful about it when I woke up this morning.

Well done to you all for being so good!

This morning I actually deleted my mumsnet app in the hope that this thread would go away, but I've just reinstalled and am starting again.

Sorry for the whinge

Ill join. Got a horrible fat belly atm and feel really bloated and just not myself. Wine and poor diet is to blame. Need to start making healthier choices as I've realised as I've got older than those lbs are a lot harder to shift once they're on!

Good luck everyone let's do this

Drinkandknowthings · 12/07/2019 07:18

evilherbivore oh bugger! I never think of the calories in alcohol! (Possibly why I’m here Grin)
