I'm fed up with being fat.

Anyone fancy joining me, starting from tomorrow with a weigh in?

It would be lovely to have some company.

I'm going to use today to stock up on healthy food and purchase some bathroom scales.

Well done everyone.

I will try harder this week Grin

I’m going to weigh myself every Monday but try not to in between as I tend to get obsessive. I’m also trying to do more exercise as I was doing loads and then life got a bit shit a few months and I stopped! It will be good for my body and mental health to start again.

Pinkiii · 22/07/2019 10:26

Well i’ve had a crash down to reality.

Think where i was weighing myself previously the floor wasn’t hard enough or what, I tried weighing myself in the usual place this morning I was down to 66kg, i always do it 2/3 times just to make sure its accurate, i moved the scales a bit and it went up to 67 and then moved it again and when down to 64 so tried the kitchen floor where its the hardest and i was 69.4 Shock so either I haven’t lost anything at all in the last 2 weeks or my original ‘start’ weight was wrong.

So for now apparently i am 69.4kg, this has demotivated me a bit now Sad

Pinkiii · 22/07/2019 10:27

Forgot to say- welldone everyone on your losses!! Smile

thisisgettingridiculous · 22/07/2019 10:35

I have lost 2kgs so far! Really pleased and feeling more motivated now. It might sound a lot but I have around 40kgs to lose in total so this is only the first small step.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 22/07/2019 10:36

Right, so .....having said that my starting weight was 9st 5lb, it was actually 9st 8lb (I weigh in kg and had read the conversion wrong). Doh!

I'm 9st 2lb this morning (double checked it) so I've lost 6lbs over the two weeks. I'm reasonably pleased with that, although I can do better Blush I had hoped to hit my stage weight of 8st 7lbs in three weeks but it's going to take four. That's fine Smile

Well done to everyone for checking in and keeping going Flowers

clare8allthepies · 22/07/2019 10:47

Just over a pound off this week, now 11st 12.2

Still too much wine but definitely better on the food front. I made a load of curries last week from a new recipe book and they were all lovely. I followed the recipe exactly but I’m going to make more this week but reduce the amount of oil used and see how they turn out. I also got an instant pot this week so will be playing with that too.

MilesFlora · 22/07/2019 11:27

Well done to all. I thought I ate reasonably this week but unfortunately I’m up a quarter of a lb this week. I hadn’t been exercising so I put my runners back on and am going back running. I used to run 5k three times a week but stopped around March. And I’m going on holidays this week so I don’t hold out much hope for next week! I will try not to eat too much crap though and go for a few healthier options when out for meals etc.

Week 1: 10st 7lbs
Week 2: 10st 4.75lbs (-2.25lbs)
Week 3: 10st 5lbs (+0.25lb)

Seren10 · 22/07/2019 12:34

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace I've been taking this to the opposite extreme - placing scales inside the exact same bathroom tile every single time and ensuring it properly lines up with the grout at a right angle. Crazy woman!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 22/07/2019 12:48

@Seren10 Aah, you're not alone. I'm (almost) at the end of a six and a half stone weight loss. I used to move the scales around until I reached the optimum (lowest) reading before I went to my WW class. Goodness only knows why as the WW scales were properly calibrated and were the source of truth during my journey. My scales counted for nothing. Still used to do it, though Blush

I understand you completely Grin

How are you doing? Hope this thread is helping. It's certainly kicked my ass over the last couple of weeks Smile

Seren10 · 22/07/2019 13:58

@NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace

Wow that's such an achievement!!! I have only lost half a pound this week, but I am amazed I have lost anything as I have had a bit of a blowout weekend. I have done lots of exercise over the last couple of weeks though and can already feel a (very small) difference in my clothes. You are spurring me on, 6.5 stone is amazing. Well done!!!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 22/07/2019 14:03

@Seren10 Never say 'only'. It's half a pound closer to target Smile All those small losses will add up to one big one Flowers

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 22/07/2019 14:06

My before and after pics are on the 7.5 stones thread below —if anyone wants to see the difference. Just thought it might help Blush

xJune88 · 22/07/2019 14:08

Joining please. Well done to everyone on your losses and even having the power to start your journey! For some people it's nothing but I'm struggling and my BMI is now overweight which I'm finding hard and hating looking in the mirror, nothing fits either. I was one of those eat what I want, then I had a baby. I'm now 9 stone 2 and 5 foot so technically overweight and I feel it too. Just trying to eat healthy, stop drinking and stop snacking!!

sevenandeight · 22/07/2019 14:39

Can I just mention this about scales.

My mum recently sent her bathroom scales back for repair as they had a ten year warranty. She was told by the manufacturer that for scales to be accurate they should never be moved. Just put on a hard floor and leave them there. Moving them or dragging them out once a week to weigh yourselves makes them inaccurate.

CCquavers · 22/07/2019 14:45

Reading about posters issues with scales. Someone told me a long time ago that you should place scales in the same spot so lining up with grouting is a good idea. Then step on scales to set them. Let the numbers stop, get off scales let them go blank and then weigh yourself standing on them slowly. You don’t want to jump on and the 3 seconds stops when it’s zoomed up!

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 22/07/2019 14:51

@sevenandeight
@CCquavers

Completely agree about the scales. The accuracy is definitely compromised by moving them around. But ..... sometimes it's a kind of psychological thing. You move the scales, you lose a couple of pounds, the world is good Blush

I've done all this kinda stuff during my weight loss journey. A bit batshit, yes but .... I got there. As will everyone Smile

theneverendinglaundry · 22/07/2019 16:02

Interesting about the scales! I may take them downstairs to my hard tiled floor to see if theres any difference..... but will ignore if they say I'm heavier, obvs.

Pinkiii · 22/07/2019 16:09

@theneverendinglaundry be careful with that, I wish I didnt move mine this morning, i was happy being 66kg Grin

EvilHerbivore · 22/07/2019 17:11

Got my first period in 3 years and feel like utter crap dragged through a hedge today. Have eaten allllll the bread and chocolate.
Tomorrow is a new less crampy day though eh?!

Spinosaur · 22/07/2019 17:25

Hi everybody,

interesting about the scales - I have done this too. I have learnt that my scales read 1/2 stone light so always make an adjustment and am happy if the number gets smaller and my clothes less tight. I have moved house recently and got bigger and less fit so that is what I am trying to sort out. I have managed to lose 3lbs this week so have lost 9lbs in 2 weeks due to fast800. I had my weekend away and went crazy with the wine and crisps - also a 2 week period is still going strong! I am nearly 50 so it goes with the territory sometimes I think. I am going to carry on with the mindful eating and allow myself the beer/crisps etc. if I choose to and then be aware of how to eat the rest of the time. Previously, I would say to myself that I have had the crisps so I am crap so I may as well eat the cake/biscuits/pizza/beer/wine etc. too. I am trying to change habits. It is great to read about everybody else and their own systems and plans. Have a good week everybody.

thisisgettingridiculous · 22/07/2019 19:36

I have a really embarrassing story about scales.

I threw away our scales last year and decided to stop focusing on weight. Unfortunately around the same time I became ill and wasn't able to exercise.

My mother in law came to stay and as she had various health issues my husband bought scales so he could check how she was doing.

I weighed myself and was in absolute horror at my weight. I had gained 13 kilos. I was in shock and refused to believe what the scales said. I became convinced they were faulty and bought a new set from Argos. When I got home they showed the exact same weight as the so-called faulty ones. I brought them back for a refund and started on this weight loss journey, facing up to the fact that loose, elasticated clothes hide a multitude of kilos!

CCquavers · 23/07/2019 18:04

@thisisgettingridiculous

I really like the idea of having 2 sets of scales..

theneverendinglaundry · 23/07/2019 20:44

I am pleased to report that I moved my scales and stayed the same weight. Phew!

Only had 1500 calories today. Must be the heat.

Frogsandsheep · 23/07/2019 22:03

Hi all. Day 2 has been a fail. Hard day at work, period due and I ended up getting a massive takeaway :-(
