Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

May I join you? I've got 10kg to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight - twins are now two and a half Blush I'm planning on doing 18:6 with a bit of 5:2, and trying to cut the carbs. I ran a marathon last month and got so used to eating boatloads of lovely pasta, potatoes, bread etc but I feel like a walrus now.

WantLifeToBeBetter · 01/07/2019 17:20

Could I please join?

I had a rubbish June and tbh am not looking forward to July much but am hoping I can pull myself together and improve my health/lose some weight at least.

I want to prioritise "self care" and developing long term healthy eating habits over quick weight loss so am intending to focus on

  • cutting down on alcohol (unhelpful for weight, health and relationship)
  • cutting out after dinner snacking/grazing/binging
  • drinking more water

I will bite the bullet and weigh myself tomorrow

Really sorry to hear about your cat, cricket. I have one myself and know how they work themselves into your heart. Flowers

lemonbalmtea · 01/07/2019 17:21

So sorry to hear about your beloved cat cricket

Target weight this month is 10st 6. Every bit lost is progress.

B: Irish oats, grated carrot, seeds
L: Wholewheat pasta, chard, sardines, ricotta
D: Slice of lentil nut roast that I made at the weekend, probably just salad

Snacks: homemade prune/apricot and seeds energy ball (these are awesome, can eat straight from freezer!), stick of celery, probably half a banana.

The gym are fitness testing me later and then it's Running Club.

Tanaqui · 01/07/2019 18:20

I tried to get going on both the may and the June thread- so hope this is third time lucky. I've put on a stone in 2 years- it's been an insane time life wise, but I'm nearly 50 and I think I need to get back now before it becomes never. I have no scales this summer (living away), but I was 66kg and I want to get back to 60. Am going to do 3 meals a day, no snacking, gentle exercise (knees hurt), and measure myself in my jeans. I have a gorgeous wardrobe i can't fit into!

Cricket, my very best wishes for your cat Flowers

riotlady · 01/07/2019 19:00

So sorry to hear about you car, cricket Flowers

I forgot to put my stats in the starting post, am 17st 8 so aiming for 17st 1

CumbrianExile · 01/07/2019 19:13

Hi, can I join too?

I am doing SW and weigh in on Wednesday so I will post starting weight then.

Sorry to hear about your cat Cricket, hope the second lot of IV helps.

DoraleeRhodes · 01/07/2019 19:15

Can I join too please?

Have a 5 month old baby and about 6kg to lose to get back to my pre pregnancy weight, then ideally have another 8 or so I want to lose to get to my ideal. Getting married in 3 months so need to start getting serious!
Am doing 16:8 and trying to eat healthily in my 8 hours. Snacking is my complete downfall so that’s the battle. Do a fair bit of running and yoga now, but have started adding kettlebell and The Shred into my routine.

HearMeSnore · 01/07/2019 20:35

Successfully avoided the biscuits & the snack machine at work, and there is no wine in the house (and I can't be tempted to nip out and get some because DD is in bed and DH is out). So that's my two worst vices under control for today.

The final test will be whether the unopened box of chocolates in the cupboard stays unopened all evening. I think if I allow myself one small biscuit with my evening cuppa I might just manage it...

Millie2018 · 01/07/2019 21:33

A good day. Stuck to my food plan and managed a 3 mile walk with the baby in the pushchair asleep. I also brought my dress for the wedding I’m attending in July. It’s snug around the tummy, but otherwise comfortable.
Hope everyone else had a good day.

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 21:37

1,206 calories but no exercise today. Let’s hope I can keep the calorie consumption down. I’m allowed 1,380 per day.

Hope everyone had a good day too.

MumOfDiamonds · 01/07/2019 22:24

Can I join please? I've been doing SW for about 9 weeks. I had my weigh in today and I lost 3.5lb and 1st 2lb since starting. I go on holiday to Spain on 28th of this month and would really love to lose another 7lb by then!

I have coeliac disease so I avoid carbs anyway but I'm trying to eat more veggies and drink more water over the next few weeks.

Good luck everyone!!

Ihatesundays · 01/07/2019 22:33

I’m a bit worried my latest plan isn’t working. I was just doing a basic deficit thing and cutting all the crap food.
Using my Fitbit and fitness pal I usually have a deficit of at least 500 calories a day, sometimes more (up to 800). I don’t feel like I am really losing weight though- usually early on I drop a fair bit to start.
I’d hate to go back to weigh watchers again!

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 22:35

@MumOfDiamonds
Well done, that’s a great result. I hope you lose the rest before your holiday.

TreaterAnita · 01/07/2019 22:47

I'd like to join too please. Starting off today at 61.6kg - I've been losing and putting on the same 3 kgs since about February. My goal is to get to 51kg (I am v short) but I'd be happy with 55kg when I go on holiday at the start of September.

My plan is generally to have 800-cal fast days during the week (Mon to Thurs) with more calories Fri to Sun so it averages out at about 1200 per day. I'm also going to avoid snacking and desserts as those tend to burn through the cals on the weekends. I've got loads of social stuff on this month though, so will just try to be sensible on those days.

Today:
B: Skinny latte
L: Falafel and humous salad (out for lunch with colleagues, lightest option I could find on the menu)
D: Tomato soup with cheese and bread

WantLifeToBeBetter · 02/07/2019 06:10

Weighed in at 64kg exactly this morning, which is actually not as bad as I had thought. I'd like to be 60 really so hopefully I can make some progress towards that this month. No booze yesterday, no grazing in the evening (although dinner was pretty late anyway) and over 1l of water so I feel I've made a start.

lemonbalmtea - your menu sounds lovely - would you mind sharing the recipe for pasta and sardines?

Ihatesundays - do the scales say you have lost weight? My understanding is that all diets are basically a version of calories in vs calories out so if there is a deficit you should be losing.. maybe it just needs more time?

Louise7777 · 02/07/2019 06:13

anyone got any easy snacks and breakfast ideas I can take to work? I work 12 hour shifts so normally take breakfast to work and eat there, need something I can make easily. I used to take Cereal but it's getting a little boring

WantLifeToBeBetter · 02/07/2019 06:21

Bircher muesli? Hardboiled eggs (if your colleagues don't complain about the smell Wink)?, baked egg muffins?

Tanaqui · 02/07/2019 06:27

Crackers- like ryvita- with philadelphia? Greek yoghurt with blueberries and seeds or nuts? Avocado and bread/oatcakes if you have somewhere to cut?

Sandybval · 02/07/2019 06:28

Checking in! I need to start shifting some baby weight, although I feel really unhealthy I keep eating junk! What calorie counting app does everyone use? I know my fitness pal is popular, but it won't let me download it unless I agree to them having permission to make voice calls- erm nope!

Vebrithien · 02/07/2019 06:50

Louise I like to take baked oats to work for breakfast. www.thriftylesley.com/baked-oats/
(Not sure if I am allowed to put this?)
Basically, somewhere between porridge and crumble. Baked. When cooked, it can be cut into slices and eaten cold, or reheated in a microwave. A friend tells me that it is part of the SW plan/options.
It is also good as a much healthier alternative to flapjack as a snack l!

Vebrithien · 02/07/2019 06:54

Had a medium day yesterday. Had 2 squares of my favourite Lindt lemon chocolate in the evening, but had really bad nausea throughout the day.
Plan for today:
Muesli with high protein yoghurt
Rocket salad with strawberries and hummus.
Carrot and coconut soup with something carby for dinner. Depends on how I feel.

Have a good day all. Weight-in for me tomorrow!

Fluffiest · 02/07/2019 06:55

Dropped 2lbs this morning, which means that I have undone the damage of the weekend. Which is a relief!

Now I just need to stay on track! Today I am going to make a picnic salad for lunch and then I'm going to take DD out to her favourite park. It's massive with lots of play areas so I'm hoping to get in lots of steps.

MumOfDiamonds · 02/07/2019 07:17

Thank you SwimmerGirl! Hoping to be at my goal weight for Xmas. I still have 3st to go

WistfulBarnacles · 02/07/2019 07:18

Remembered to weigh myself this morning! 192.5 lbs, which apparently is 87.3 kgs and 13.75 stones (which is 13st 10.5lbs??)

I have a packed lunch for work today but it was made by DH so I have no idea what is in it Grin
