Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut haha it was the latter. I still think it was my body's reaction to the rich food though. Oh well back to the grilled fish/veg and salad for me!! Szechuan fish and rice tonight x

Wrote a post earlier but it seemed to get lost. 2 days back on plan and I've dropped the 2.5lbs I put on last week thankfully. So I should be registering a loss by the end of July, even if it's not half a stone.

I have a dilemma though, I had planned to make myself a skirt this summer holiday. I haven't seen myself any clothes since I was a teenager but I thought it'd be good to get back to it. I have lovely fabric and a pattern. But I am losing inches!! Should I make one now or put it off? I doubt I'll get time to do much once we are back at school.

Wellthatwastricky · 29/07/2019 13:37

Brilliant loss Dead!

Your holiday sounds so lovely Cricket - despite the lobster sauce situation!

Highs of weekend: went to BBQ and everyone told me how slim I was looking. I wore a new pair of trousers which I felt good in, and feel like I'd the first thing I've worn in nearly three years because I liked it, not just because it was stretchy over my stomach

Lows of the weekend: I absolutely stuffed my face and binged in biscuits last night.

Have my period at the moment so feel bloated and heavy, gained back 1lb but hoping to lose it by the end of the month.

3lbs off losing 2 stone, so close, can't wait to reach that goal.

cricketmum84 · 29/07/2019 15:17

So I'm sat on my sun lounger, tanning nicely, looking all vintage in my striped halter neck 50s style swimsuit and matching wide brimmed hat. Pina colada in one hand and kindle in the other.

Leant back to get myself comfortable and all of a sudden there is a massive crack, I'm flung backwards, stylish hat and kindle go flying across the floor, legs in the air and pina colada all down my front. The back legs of my lounger collapsed!!!

Thankfully nothing injured except of course my pride. 2 lovely ladies came over and swapped my sunbed, fetched me a drink and kept saying don't worry the legs buckle in the heat (I think just to make me feel better). And a lovely young lad of about 13 came running over to check I was ok.

Had a little cry after in the apartment but I'm ok now, if not a little wary about everything I sit on...

Awww cricket sorry that happened but they DO buckle. Remember how far you've come and think of how much further down the road you'll be this time next year.

Congrats deadbutdelicious 50lbs since the beginning of the year is amazing.

🤣 Lightlypoached so true!

I, unbelievably, have lost 2lbs this week. Astounded quite frankly as I had 2 days off plan though totting it up over the week I averaged 1400/day so still below TDEE. Brings me to 7lbs off in July which I'm ridiculously pleased with.

I'll be joining the August thread as being on here has really helped. Great support!

Fluffiest · 29/07/2019 17:10

Oh sorry cricket that's not nice but outdoor furniture is notorious for collapsing unexpectedly, that's why You've been Framed is still going! Please don't take it personally.

I think I've gone and sabotaged my these last few days of July. Got stuck in traffic on way to work this morning, so bad I had to stop and refuel at a Tesco garage. Whilst there I bought a chicken wrap and pack of wispas to cheer myself up. Ate the wrap, one chocolate bar and a packet of crisps for lunch. Got homemade spag bol for tea.

Tomorrow I'm meeting people for breakfast, lunch and tea. Friend for brekky at Morrisons, work friends leaving do pub lunch, friends round for tea in the evening. What a plonker! Going to be hard not to gain by Wednesday.

HollyTheHarrier · 29/07/2019 18:52

@billypribble I would make the skirt. Can you make it so that you can take in the seams in due course? But in any case you’ll enjoy the process and will be able to wear it for a while before you get too small for it.

cricket bad luck with the lounger. Don’t worry though - they are flimsy things and it could have happened to anyone.

Will weigh in later this evening after my run. On track for food so far today

Skinnywish1 · 29/07/2019 19:36

Didn't loose or gain this week which for me is fantastic. Only lost 2lb this month but I'm fine with that.
Don't worry about the lounger incident cricket. Happened to me a few times awful contraptions but at least you did it in style.

HollyTheHarrier · 29/07/2019 21:12

Post run weigh in suggests I’m down another 0.5kg. I’m pleased, but also baffled at the seemingly random fluctuations of my weight, and also because I don’t seem to be losing any of the flab around my hips or waist, so i’m not noticeably thinner. I know this can happen the other way around when you look thinner but don’t lose weight due to muscle gains, but what’s going on with me?!

Millie2018 · 29/07/2019 22:57

Closing the kitchen. Did really well until I sat down to watch the love island final and DH opened a bag of fudge. There’s no way I’m losing that 0.3kg at this rate.
Must do better.
@cricketmum84 one word: mortificardo! Thank goodness those kind ladies were nearby and you got another cocktail. Hope you are ok, as others say damn those loungers!
@BrillyPribble yes make the skirt! It’ll keep your hands busy! Elasticated or tie up waist will make it last longer.

cricketmum84 · 30/07/2019 06:07

Morning all! It's Day 30! Just 2 more days!

I don't know if it's just the tan but I'm sure my legs look a little slimmer than when we got here??

Did well yesterday, I had watermelon in the morning, didn't bother with lunch but did have another huge watermelon slice when we came back up to the room to get ready. DH and kids wanted Chinese for tea, I had the Szechuan fish again with about a third of a portion of rice and about 10 chips. Just the one beer while we were out in the evening and 1 glass of wine when we got back and kids had gone to bed.

Plan for today is
B - watermelon
L - G&T and a green salad
D - grilled mackerel and salad

Should leave me room for a beer and maybe a cocktail by the pool! Oh and I have a painful popping shoulder this morning! Delayed injury from the lounger incident probably! Hoping a good swim helps (once these lazy kids wake up!)

Have a lovely Tuesday everyone!!

Good morning everyone,

My aim today is to get through three social meals without gaining.

Breakfast: lighter breakfast at Morrisons
Lunch: soup no bread
Dinner: steak and chips. I would like to say that I'll have a really small portion but I'm not confident that I will be able to resist.

To offset the food I'm going to do lots of vigorous cleaning around the house. And hopefully squeeze a run in before friends arrive tonight. Fingers crossed it works!

cricketmum84 · 30/07/2019 07:23

@Fluffiest 3 social meals in a day? Aren't you popular!!

Can you swap the chips for jacket and salad? That way you won't feel like you have over indulged. Old slimming world trick :)

OP posts:
Fluffiest · 30/07/2019 07:30

I know! I should be enjoying it whilst it lasts! I'll soon be back to my Billy No Mates state of being.

That's a good idea about swapping for a jacket potato. Although I always feel a bit self conscious of having a plate different from everyone else's, I don't want people to think I'm virtue-diet signaling, and then you get all the "oh but you already look lovely" comments, which are nice but I'd rather not draw attention to myself. I'm trying to stealth diet!

ainsliec · 30/07/2019 07:31

I've made the 7lbs for this month!

Holiday is in a month's time and I'd like to lose another 7, see you all on the August bus!

lightlypoached · 30/07/2019 07:42

Morning.

60.8 this morning.

Was at yoga at 6.30 this morning 😬

Come on slackers, out of bed and it's you all!! Chop chop

Don't you just hate morning people ? 😂

cricketmum84 · 30/07/2019 08:17

Whoop! @ainsliec that's fantastic! Well done!!

@lightlypoached ugh lol. The only way I would be a morning person was if I swapped my coffee for gin 😂

@Fluffiest you don't need to say it's because you are dieting. Just say you don't fancy chips. I'm not a huge chip fan. I have to really be in the mood for them. I often swap chips for veg, jacket or salad and when someone asks why I just say I don't fancy them. Enjoy your very social day :) xx

No change again. Might go to a class tonight, maybe a long sweat will make a difference

LooseAtTheSeams · 30/07/2019 11:30

Cricket bet you are looking very glamorous with your sun tan! Do not feel bad about the lounger. I once sat on an admittedly fold-up desk at college and it collapsed under me in front of the class I was teaching!
I'm trying to be really good in the hope of a good weigh-in result in 2 days!

Millie2018 · 30/07/2019 14:04

Currently chomping my way through a salad. Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Egg salad
D. Chicken and rice
Snacks: already had a mocha, banana and nectarine
Exercise: definitely going for a walk tonight to burn off some of yesterday’s fudge.
Dreading the weigh in tomorrow morning, don’t think I’ve done enough to un-do my sins from last week. Sigh.

Millie2018 · 30/07/2019 21:37

How is everyone doing? Despite doing a walk in the rain for 5 miles I’m feeling bloated and defeated. Not sure what’s wrong with me this week, I just can’t shake it off.
I’ve stuck to plan today but dreading my end of month weigh in tomorrow. I know I’ve gained. Maybe that’s why I’m feeling so defeated.

BrillyPribble · 30/07/2019 22:09

Flowers Millie. When I'm feeling like that I just have a couple of days off not thinking about what I should/shouldn't eat and come back to it fresh and hopefully reinvigorated. Don't write off the month yet, see what happens tomorrow. If you haven't lost, you could try switching to a different approach? Don't give up though, that's the most important thing.
I've felt dreadful most of the day today, dodgy belly from something, not sure what. On the plus side I've hardly eaten anything, on the down side you can hear the gurgles a mile off!

Millie2018 · 30/07/2019 22:26

Thanks @brillypribble. I ended May with a gain and then had a good June. I’m disappointed with myself for doing hardly any exercise last week. My calves ache from my walk and it took me 90 minutes. I know it’s raining but that’s still a slow pace for me. You’re right, I’ll see what the scales say in the morning.
Sorry to hear your not 100%, hope it settles itself soon.

Millie2018 · 30/07/2019 22:28

I feel like a need a slap round the face with a wet fish!!! Something to snap me out of it!!!

3dogs2cats · 30/07/2019 22:48

After a really good day I ate 100 grams of very very nice chocolate 500 calories! . I told myself that I would go to the gym, but I didn’t. .weighed myself this morning and needed to lose only 200 grams to reach 3 k for July. I’m an idiot.
