Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Yesterday 60.7. Body fat 29%
Today 61.1 /29%

Yesterday was a rare day off work so I had 1000 cals including a glass of wine. Managed a yoga class and 1.5 hours of ballroom dancing too. Smile

How's everyone else getting on ?

Millie2018 · 02/07/2019 07:36

Morning all. Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits and fruit
L. Egg salad (already made)
D. Sausages and veggies
Snacks: banana
Exercise: walk while baby sleeps in his pushchair
DH is out tonight, which means I’ll be left to my own devices. Must not snack. There’s an open box of chocolates in the fridge too. I think I’ll be having an early night to avoid temptation.
Have a good day everyone.

waveygravy · 02/07/2019 08:19

Hello to all. So I self-sabotaged at the end of June to put on a kg. Starting weight today 75.2kg. Sticking to 1200 cals and a bit of walking, plan is to head off on holiday in three weeks at 72kg. Right, written it down, now to do it!

Howlongtillbedtime · 02/07/2019 08:22

Good morning all

Fingers and paws crossed for kitty cricketmum I guess if its poisoning then the iv is more likely to work ??

I really struggled yesterday and fell off the wagon. A combination of hormones and being v stressed at work.

Back on it today
Lunch is another Bols thing
Dinner is a spicy veg thing wrapped in filo
Snacks will be the usual mini cheddars and fruit.
I will also manage the gym today.

Good luck to everyone for a fab day.

Ihatesundays · 02/07/2019 08:22

@WantLifeToBeBetter well today it’s on it’s way back down again. It’s much slower than I remember in the past though.

Going to an exercise class tonight though so see if that helps.

WantLifeToBeBetter · 02/07/2019 08:23

I forgot to say, mini objective for today: not to eat any of the holiday sweets that I've brought in to work!

cricketmum84 · 02/07/2019 08:25

Morning all and welcome to a lovely and sunny (up here anyway) ❤️ Day 2 ❤️

My food plan yesterday went to pot, it was a very stressful day. I comfort ate at lunchtime after lots of crying and had spaghetti hoops on toast. Haven't had that since I was a little girl! Then had 2 slices of leftover pizza and 2 G&Ts. Was still under on ww points for the day but not really a nutritious menu!

DS is back to refusing school. I also found out yesterday that he and 2 girls have set up some weird kinky BDSM Instagram account and the girls parents have found out and complained to school. I've confiscated all electronics from him.

Also waiting on another round of blood tests from Ivy cat. Today's should give us some idea of prognosis as she has had 36 hours of fluids now.

My IBS has had me awake all night in pain so I really don't feel like eating anything at all today. At just have some fruit later if I get hungry. I've got a honeydew melon in the fridge and some strawberries. Dinner is jerk seasoned and baked butternut squash slices with salad.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Sorry I meant to add a huge welcome to all of the new joiners!! I can't tag everyone individually Cos there's just too many for me to keep up with! Which is a very good thing :)

I'm a ww online member so don't go to groups but I find the app keeps me accountable. I've lost almost 5 stone since the week before Christmas. I am still very overweight though and have a looooong way to go before I get to a healthy BMI. Still around 9 stone to lose. It feels like an uphill battles sometimes but I found these monthly threads break my big goal into smaller, much more manageable mini goals and before you know it you're another stone down!

Well I’ve lost 1/2 a lb since yesterday, it’s a start!

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 08:45

@cricketmum84

Well done on the 5 stone since Christmas, that’s a brilliant result, lots of hard work has paid off.

Sending cuddles to your cat and hope she is better soon.

wellthatwastricky · 02/07/2019 08:45

Hello all, just getting myself down on the July thread!

Firstly, Cricket, you're an absolute legend continuing to drive this with everything you have to cope with. I'm sorry things are still so stressful with your DS. Also, poor Ivy the cat! If it does turn out to be kidney, I can say that my family have owned several cats who lived with kidney disease for years longer than predicted, including the gorgeous puss I grew up with who was told she'd have months left when she was 4 but lived to the grand old age of 20. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Sooo, I lost 5.5lbs in June. Ok with that but I know I could've done better. I want to lose 7-9 lbs in July, it will take me to pretty much 2/3 to my goal!

Family visiting this weekend, plus a party Saturday night, when alcohol and the resulting carbs will be ingested, so aim this week is damage limitation until Saturday lunchtime.

Crazzzycat · 02/07/2019 08:53

Morning all! I’m focussing on protein, as well as calories this month, but am struggling to get anywhere near 50g a day. Never mind the 80g MFP recommends for me 😬

If anyone has any tips on how to get enough protein on an almost completely plant based diet, I’d love to hear them! I ended up eating some cheese yesterday in an attempt to meet my target, but it caused a massive IBS flare up. Dairy is definitely not the way to go for me.

@Sandybval I’m quite old school when it comes to calorie counting. I really don’t like MFP, so I just worked out the calories of everything I eat by googling all the ingredients and writing it down in a notebook. It was a bit time consuming at the start, but it also helped me to better understand where all the calories in my food go and how best to make my meals lighter.

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 09:04

@crazzzycat
I’m not a veggie but I was pleasantly surprised by how much protein puy lentils have in them.

I

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 09:08

Quite pleased that I’m not feeling hungry yet, also I’m working from home today, so can just have breakfast when I feel like it.

I’ve had one coffee - 50ml of semi skimmed milk.

Plan was puy lentils and 2 poached eggs for breakfast.

Merchant Gormet Spanish grains and a tin of sardines in tomato sauce for lunch.

Home made chickpea and spinach curry for dinner - double portion but no rice or bread.

Snacks are strawberries, blue berries, apple and 8 almonds.

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 09:18

I use My Fitness Pal. I think it overestimates the calories burned from exercise though.

My sister has a beautiful Boxclever food diary that she bought from amazon (doesn’t say food diary on it, just looks like a notebook). She writes everything down in there and works the calories out based on either what is on the packet or from NHS choices.

crivit · 02/07/2019 09:43

Yesterday was a mixed bag. Started well with porridge (sultanas, nuts, plant milk) before leftover takeaway (some chips but mainly rice and veg with protein - spiced rather than sauce) but as the day went on I got more stressed so ate way too many peanuts before dinner (veg, dips and a flatbread).

Somehow a whole 200g down this morning though so at 75kg.

Today, same breakfast as yesterday. Not sure what's happening for lunch today but probably involve salad leaves, maybe with a couple of veggie sausages. Dinner will be stir-fry tofu and veg (maybe with added cashews) with a smidge of rice. The aim for today is not to inhale dry roasted peanuts Grin

jfk1718 · 02/07/2019 09:56

So I managed 19k steps yesterday and kept to 1,200 cals.

Mondays always the easiest and then I tend to go downhill as the week progresses, so fingers crossed.

twobambinos · 02/07/2019 10:33

I love hearing what everyone else is eating it gives me fresh ideas.

@jfk well done 19k steps thats huge.

I managed a 5km run yesterday. Started back 2 months ago after a year and a bit off for pregnancy and I'm so glad to see my time coming down again. Nowhere near a pb but it's going in the right direction.

@cricketmum84 hope the cat is OK. Loving the little mantras too nice positive vibes to keep us all focused.

Dinner is a roast chicken with veggies not sure about lunch yet. Had a scone this morning which I weighed and I think it was close to 400 calories with the scraping butter and jam it puts it into perspective I can tell you. Fitted in a bit of exercise this morning too and might do some pilates at home later. Going to try to get the step count up by tidying and decluttering the house today... As I sit on my phone on mumsnet Grin

HearMeSnore · 02/07/2019 10:38

So far so good. Pineapple and pomegranate for breakfast. Just having morning cuppa at work. Some fucker has brought in three packs of Jammie Dodgers but I'm not going there...

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 10:40

@twobambinos
Nowhere near a pb but it's going in the right direction.

I read that as nowhere near a PUB 😂😂😂
but it’s going in the right direction.

Clearly because I’ve just decided to have a booze free July to help with the weight loss. I worked out that I should lose an extra 1-2 pounds over the month if I cut out alcohol.

twobambinos · 02/07/2019 10:42

@louise7777 last week a couple of days I had a protein yoghurt topped with cut up strawberries and carefully weighed out crunchy nut granola. I put it in a bowl and it looked so much more appealing than eating each thing separately. Nicely presented. Easy snack for work.

Jenfur · 02/07/2019 10:51

Quick check in from me. Weighed myself this morning for my July starting weight. I officially started this last Monday and have lost 4lbs which I'm chuffed with. Unlikely to have the same results from now though.

I'm struggling with hunger - I think breastfeeding is making me ravenous but I need to find some healthy things I can fill up on. I find there's only so much fruit I can eat without getting bored and still ending up hungry soon after anyway.

On the plus side, I've been drinking more milk as apparently I can with SW and baby has been feeding better than he had recently. Maybe coincidence but hopefully not.

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 10:56

I would also be interested in any suggestions for small snacks that keep the hunger pangs away.

Mine would be - small apple, babybel light, hard boiled egg.

lemonbalmtea · 02/07/2019 11:20

Half a banana, wholewheat rice cracker or Nairn seeded oatcake with various toppings, or half slice toast. Ginger oatcakes are delicious too. Recently discovered Planet sunflower seed butter (like peanut butter). Better nutritional profile (less fat) than butter. Macadamia nuts, walnuts (a few). A pear. Figs. Two Brazil nuts (two give enough selenium). A carrot. Celery stick. Couple of tablespoons of seeds. Ricola sweets. Square or two of dark choc. Popcorn. Tortilla corn chips. Chewy banana chips (no added sugar). Olives. Grapes.

lemonbalmtea · 02/07/2019 11:23

Chia seeds, if you can be bothered, mixed with milk (you have to get the right quantity) work quite well for hunger.
