Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

@cricketmum84 I am so sorry to read about your cat, what a dreadful time for you.

OhTheRoses · 01/07/2019 11:26

So sorry to hear that cricket. How far away from Supervet are you for a 2nd opinion.

cricketmum84 · 01/07/2019 11:32

Not far. He is reviewing her notes this afternoon. Xx

I’m doing the Anna Richardson Summer Body Blitz. I’ve never managed to lose the 7lbs in 2 weeks but the weight does gradually fall off at about 5lbs per fortnight. I’ve used it before. I find it sensible and practical - no whacky ingredients. Also using my fitness pal to track calories.

I’m 5 feet 6 and 11 stone 11. I would like to lose 2 stone.

crivit · 01/07/2019 11:45

@cricketmum84 I'm so sorry :( fingers crossed for the second opinion

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 11:54

Today is day one.

I had half a packet of merchant gourmet puy lentils, 2 poached eggs for breakfast.

Lunch is broad beans, peas, lemon and mint dressing plus 1/3 tub reduced fat hummus on a slice of rye bread (the dense one you can get in supermarkets).

Dinner is salmon on half a pack of merchant gourmet French (green and puy lentils in a tomato sauce) and some salad (no dressing).

Snacks are an apple, a satsuma, a banana and 8 almonds.

jfk1718 · 01/07/2019 12:02

Please could I join?

I was lurking on the June thread. Managed to get from 10st 2 to 9 st 5 in June.

Hoping to get to 8st 10, but conscious that I've done the easy bit and that am going on a fortnight's holiday in July, so hoping you might keep me on the straight and narrow.

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 12:09

BMI is currently 27.1. I need to lose 13lbs to get down to a healthy BMI of 25. Then another 12 lbs to get rid of my stomach.

Sorry for the multiple posts but I’m writing everything down to make me accountable.

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 12:10

@jfk1718
That’s a really good weight loss! Could you tell me a bit more about how you did it please?

TDMN · 01/07/2019 12:19

Can I join too? Currently 11st 2, would like to be 10st. Height 5"6.
(I mean, I would LIKE to be 9st but as i've not ever achieved that in my adult life im staying realistic Grin)

Anyone else struggling with all the social stuff that comes with summer? I feel like i eat well all week only for it to all be undone over the weekend!

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 12:29

@tdmn
You’re the same height as me. I look slim at 9 stone 7 and I would love to be that weight again. I’ll take 10 stone though.

BrillyPribble · 01/07/2019 13:06

Oh cricketmum you poor thing and poor poor kitty. I had to have my beloved cat PTS 7 years ago and it was such a tough thing to do, albeit exactly the right decision for her. Cry as much as you need to, it shows how much you love her.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 01/07/2019 13:08

Well god knows it can only get better for me. I have to get a tooth extracted at 2 and I’m shit scared of the dentist and the emotional eating kicked off with a vengeance today, I can’t even describe.

Tomorrow is another day. At last I really will only be able to eat soup.

lightlypoached · 01/07/2019 13:11

@cricket my heart aches for you. Your poor kitty 😞

Millie2018 · 01/07/2019 13:47

Oh @cricketmum84 😢 there are no words. So sorry to hear this. Let us know how you get on later x

jfk1718 · 01/07/2019 13:54

Oh crikey you're very kind. I think most of it is water to be honest, you know the easy bit that you only put on fairly recently and so comes off easily.

I've been doing 1,200 cals and at least 10k steps a day. Think this next bit is going to be MUCH harder though. I always just seem to get stuck at 9 st 3 and have absolutely nowhere to do, so coming up against that now and think I may have to do a bit more to get past it! Also a bit worried that the scales were kind to me yesterday and that if I got on them today it would be more... sigh.

PinglePongle · 01/07/2019 14:12

@cricketmum84 sorry to hear about your cat. My cat had the same aged 3, she went to a specialist for kidney stents but it was around £7000 (we had insurance to cover some of it) unfortunately she only lived for another 7 months after though 😔

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 14:13

@jfk1718
1200 calories and 10,000 steps a day, for a full month is good. I struggle to fit the 10,000 per day in but go for a big walk (30,000 steps) in the hills, near where I live, every weekend. I am more conscious of how inactive I am during the week and have started walking to the shop (0.8 miles round trip) rather than driving and taking the stairs at work rather than the lift.

I struggle to keep my calories that low though. I’ve just been working out my Base Metabolic rate and I should be eating 1,380 per day plus doing the big walk at the weekend to lose 2lbs per week.

jfk1718 · 01/07/2019 14:25

@swimmergirl40
there may have been a little bit of cheating involved from time to time.....

More gin = more steps.

SwimmerGirl40 · 01/07/2019 14:33

@jfk1718
Gin 😀

I have no idea how I was so slim in my early 20s. Used to drink loads. There’s about 80 calories in a single Gin & Slim. I can easily get through 6 of those on a Friday and another 6 on a Saturday. That’s 1000 calories a week I could do without - think I might go booze free for July.

cricketmum84 · 01/07/2019 15:17

Scan is showing lots of fluid around her kidneys which would indicate poisoning rather than kidney disease.

They are giving her another 24 hours IV fluids and then retesting bloods again tomorrow.

OhTheRoses · 01/07/2019 15:48

Our boy got over it with lots of iv to wash him out cricket. He was truly pitiful when we got him to the vet and his sight was gone for the first day. He did pull through though. Flowers

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 01/07/2019 16:25

Late check-in for me: it's been a busy day.

So sorry to hear about your kitty cricket Sad

I've been for a run this morning, & then went out for the day with ds & had a sausage burger thing (I'd guess about 750 calls).

Will have an apple with cheese, then nothing else.

Starting from my June weight of 12st 1.25 lbs.

Hoping to get to 11st 8lbs by the end of July.

cricketmum84 · 01/07/2019 16:28

@OhTheRoses how long was he on fluids? Did he have the same reaction re kidney function? Xx

OP posts:
OhTheRoses · 01/07/2019 16:34

It was a long time ago cricket. The bits I remember are being told it was touch and go, the iv fluids being pushed through. He had a little rally and came home and then started vomitting everywhere and went back in for more fluids and a scan. Scan was clear. Home again and more vomit. He was literally being sick everywhere. He then went to vet for three days because it was distressing dd who got home before me and was 12ish at the time. All in all it took him about a week to recover but he did ........ £2.5k later. Thank goodness for insurance. Fingers crossed.
