Hi all, made a new thread as the last one filled up so quickly and I'm still bloody massive!Grin

Rules are: be kind, no judging, have a sense of humour, weigh on Wednesday mornings... and no training with Amanda Grin

@YouBoggleMyMind @recklessgran @MrsMummyBx @emilyjeff and others! Here's a brand new spanking thread.

New starting weight: 14st exactly.

Back home again now, came back last night. So lots of washing to do today!
Anyway 10st 11.5 so lost half a pound, pleasantly surprised by that x

recklessgran · 10/07/2019 10:16

Morning all this weigh day Wednesday.
Last week 13st 7.25lbs
This week 13 st 8.25lbs
I am really fed up and have no idea what's going on as I've been good!.
Going to have a think. Have call back from doc tomorrow and hope he'll increase my thyroid meds and maybe that will help. I'm going to be posting here daily EVERYTHING that passes my lips in case any of you can see what I'm doing wrong!

recklessgran · 10/07/2019 10:18

Sorry @emilyjeff so wrapped up in myself that I forgot to say well done on your loss - that's awesome for someone on holiday! Glad you had a great time too.x

emilyjeff · 10/07/2019 10:46

Haha no worries reckless! I can totally see why you're feeling fed up if you're being really good but still not losing. Could doc refer you to a dietician or nutritionist or something? Cos yours seems more complicated than the rest of us who probably just need to eat less and move more!
I was pretty surprised by my loss but can only put it down to being more active on holiday whereas I'm sat at a desk usually 4 days out of 5!

TinselAndKnickers · 10/07/2019 10:51

So weigh in... 14st 4.5lb so half a pound. Still not happy but it's a start. Really need to get in gear.

Well done Emily on your loss! Reckless i bet the medicine increase would help a lot. It's such a shame health is unpredictable in these situations and I know it's annoying to not see hard work reflected. I think setting monthly goals is a good idea for me especially as it breaks up the huge task of weight lossSmile

OP posts:
recklessgran · 10/07/2019 12:36

Yes @tinsel I agree about little goals. I'm aiming for half a stone off by 30th August which is the day before I go on holiday to Ibiza. That should be doable but I'm not holding my breath. The minute I eat even 2 slices of toast I put on 2lbs overnight! Anyway, back to low carb/low cal for me in the hope of shifting this darned bread baby I'm carting around. So galling as I was skinny as a rake up until I was 50 and even sprung back into skinny jeans after the 5 births. Aaaargh! Gotta leave the pity party.

recklessgran · 10/07/2019 23:00

O.K. here's everything I've eaten and drunk today.
6 mugs of tea with a tiny slash of milk - like my tea orange!
2 glasses of water.
A bowl of watermelon to pick on as snack.
For dinner some thick cut ham off the bone [very lean] and some roasted veg consisting of peppers, red onions, baby tomatoes mushrooms and baby carrots cooked in about a dessertspoon of olive oil.
That's it - I just can't see what is wrong with that can anyone critique this? Cannot for the life of me work out why my weight is going up not down.

TinselAndKnickers · 10/07/2019 23:32

It sounds okay to me! But maybe your body thinks you're starving it so it's holding on to the good stuff Grin

I've eaten crap all day but still below my calories (only just!!!) hoping that slow and steady wins the raceGrinSad

MoonNoodles · 11/07/2019 08:19

Morning all,

Forgot to weigh in yesterday as it was a stupidly busy day at work but remembered this morning!

I am down 2 pounds from last thursday which feels awesome. I did okay food wise not amazing but okay. I am wondering if its because I have been trialing protein bars to find one I like (I havent yet) so maybe the extra protein helped??

Congrats on your weightloss @emilyjeff especially on holiday!

@recklessgran that sounds like a great day. Maybe Tinsel is right and your not eating enough and your body is holding on? Or maybe because its mostly liquid? I am sorry its so frustrating, I hope your doctor is able to help.

@TinselAndKnickers yay half a pound is good. Anything moving in the right direction should be celebrated. I agree with the monthly goals. It feels less daunting plus monthly goals means monthly rewards right?

I am at a convention from this afternoon onwards (set up today) as a vendor so going to be on my feet a lot. Going to have to be really careful what I eat as in the past I would eat and eat and eat whole time.

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/07/2019 18:42

Stayed the same this week... 12st 6.8lbs. I don't seem to eat much at all when I'm at work 🤷🏻‍♀️

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/07/2019 18:45

You must be so frustrated Reckless! That's hardly any good at all!! Perhaps between your thyroid and (please don't take this the wrong way!!) your age, your body just finds it super hard to lose weight? The only thing I can say is keep consistent and over time, you'll see a difference. Have you got any non scale victories? How about your clothes and how they fit?

recklessgran · 11/07/2019 19:18

@YouBoggle thank you - you're so sweet but I look a bit like a teletubby to be honest - luckily I'm quite tall [5ft 7ins] which helps I think. The good news is that the doc has agreed to a 25mcgms rise in my levothyroxine further to my latest blood test. I'll view that as a small victory and carry on with my plan. I know my age is against me and the fact that I'm so lazy about exercise. I know what I should be doing but doing it is another matter! Hey Ho onwards and upwards. Hope everyone is O.K. Just sorting out the dinner so will post again with my eats for today - I think doing this will stop me from going "off piste" if you know what I mean.

recklessgran · 11/07/2019 20:56

Back again to post my food intake.
Scotch egg and side salad for lunch.
Chicken breast and roast veg for dinner.
4 teas and 2 bottles of water.
Don't normally have 2 meals but was hungry today - still don't think I've been bad.
Will be getting my extra thyroxine from tomorrow - not really expecting such a tiny increase to make much difference but happy to get it anyway.

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/07/2019 23:15

And obviously I meant food in my previous post, not good! Bloody autocorrect!

Glad you're being taken seriously by the Dr and he's increasing the dose, that'll defo help but also realise, thyroid function plays havoc with weight gain and makes it incredibly hard. Be kind to yourself x

emilyjeff · 12/07/2019 14:02

Hi ladies
reckless your food sounds lovely, and very healthy!
moonnoodles convention sounds interesting, what kind of convention? If its not too outing!
I've been really busy at work and doing extra hours staying till 5 now I no longer have the school run to do, which is good cos it means more money, and less snacking!! Went for a run tues and thursday this week aswell so feeling good about that :)
I agree that the small goals is an excellent idea. So, for the next month I am going to try and run at least twice a week, do 10 mins yoga every morning and not snack before dinner, or in the evenings! If I could just keep losing 1lb a week I would be quite happy with that tbh.
What does everyone have planned for the weekend? For once we have nothing planned, think we need a chilled one, and chance to catch up on some jobs at home too x

recklessgran · 12/07/2019 18:51

Today I have been out for my usual Friday shopping/lunch with bestie. So, 2 J.D's with coke and a cheese and ham panini plus a handful of crisps and salad garnish that was on the plate keeping the panini company. Oh dear! Never mind I am having salmon salad for my dinner and will count today as a day off from the low carbs on account of the naughty lunch. No particular plans for the weekend @emilyjeff but like you I think we need to do some jobs in the garden. @Moonnoodles I am in awe of your massive loss and continued progress - how on earth are you doing it? I'm quite fascinated by this whole weight loss thing and in my case lack thereof! @Tinsel and @YouBoggle are you getting on O.K?

TinselAndKnickers · 12/07/2019 20:39

Quick check in - had bad migraines yesterday and today barely been able to eat or open my eyes. Holding out for that loss Grin also done a lot of gardening this week so active. Glad you are being taken seriously reckless. Will read up on everybody's updates tonight when my head hopefully stops spinning!

OP posts:
YouBoggleMyMind · 12/07/2019 22:15

I'm ok thanks, not doing too good food or drink wise. Got too much else going on. I just need to get through this random time where everything is changing and then I can try again. I'm useless.

recklessgran · 13/07/2019 22:01

Evening all. Food for today.
Scotch egg for lunch
Chicken breast and peas for dinner.
7 teas and a glass of water.
Still feel a bit hungry but resisting the urge to eat anything else. I've got a melon in the fridge so if need be I'll have a wedge of that.
DD4 coming tomorrow so have bought a lovely piece of rolled sirloin for the big roast beef dinner. I'm going to indulge myself minus the Yorkshire pudding - no point in kidding myself that I'm going to just have meat and plain veg as I know I won't be able to resist the roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese! I will also be making a beautiful victoria sponge that I will filled with whipped double cream and fresh strawberries. [Family tradition here for Wimbledon finals!] DD4 usually goes down for it and has been lucky 3 years running with getting tickets but didn't try this year on account of her A & E rota being particularly evil. She sounds knackered so I'm hoping to make her feel a bit loved whilst she's here.

emilyjeff · 15/07/2019 15:34

Hi all, we had a nice chilled weekend but my eating hasn't been very good. DH is not a good influence! Your sunday dinner sounded lush recklessgran its ages since I had a roast.
I'm afraid my bad eating has continued at work today aswell :(
Need to go back to my tactic of planning my days food and then not deviating from it!
Hope everyone else is doing well x

recklessgran · 15/07/2019 15:42

Well, I survived the roast dinner yesterday and am owning up to a VERY thin slice [known by my DD's as a dolly slice]of the fresh cream cake. I shouldn't have done that as so far today I have eaten a random selection of crap including 4 biscuits and 2 squares of chocolate. O.K. I'm getting back on the wagon right now as I have been good up to now and was hoping for a loss this weigh day Wednesday. Back on the naughty step for me!

MoonNoodles · 15/07/2019 19:40

And I am back. And seriously nervous for the wednesday weigh in. I ate like non-stop all weekend. And it wasnt healthy food. Friday I had a ton of grapes and was really trying and then the long days and stress took over and it just went downhill into crisps, sodas, I think I had 3 chocolate bars.

@emilyjeff I had an artist table at a massive geek event (like comic con but different). I think thats vague enough to not be outing, plus my username and artists name aren't related and there were dozens of artists there. The sales was good and it was enjoyable.

The woman at the stand next to me was literally eating Nutella straight out of a jar! So compared to that I did okay!

recklessgran · 16/07/2019 00:05

Gave dinner a miss as I wasn't hungry but have eaten a slice of cheese and a packet of mini cheddars. Numerous cups of tea. Been really busy with work so hardly been off my desk. Will be good tomorrow ahead of the weigh in. Managed a brief mummy call with both DD3 and 4. Looking forward to seeing DD2 and little DGD tomorrow. Must call DD1 and DD5 to make sure they're O.K. too! It's a full time job keeping on top of the 5 DD's and 5 DGC. DGS 20 is on a lad's holiday in Ayia Napa. DD4 showed me some pics on his instagram yesterday. Mmmm in one of those buggy things with a kind of metal framework overhead - no helmet though. I need to try not to worry don't I? Hope everyone is O.K. @MoonNoodles I think you're entitled to eat crap for a couple of days!

TinselAndKnickers · 16/07/2019 09:04

Sorry I've been AWOL again!

Just got my uni results back ..... I got a 2:1 overall for second year!!!!! And last year I got 43% overall and had to resit a lot. Feeling so proud of myself and very motivated Smile
*
Reckless* your roast sounds amazing!
MoonNoodles you're allowed to run away for a few days and eat crap as long as you come back Grin that's the rules here! We all do it! I do it every bloody week Grin

Been eating okay but had a wobble and binged on crisps last night. Ah well Smile onwards and upwards! Or outwards because I keep getting fatter Grin

OP posts:
recklessgran · 16/07/2019 10:47

@Tinsel well done on your results - you did better than expected in your exams after all! I hope you're really proud of yourself and going to do something lovely to celebrate your success.[Crisps ARE allowed under the circumstances I think!] I think posting my food on here is helping me to resist little naughties! I'm definitely going to keep doing that. [A sneak preview on the scales ahead of tomorrows weigh in is encouraging let's say.]
