That is a fantastic loss, jimmy, you must be so pleased. Star

My weight really piled on when my knees were bad and I wasn’t walking any distance. I’ve lost a stone and a half now, but I need to shift another +/- 10lbs to feel happy in my skin.

I really hate exercise. Actually, that’s not true; I don’t mind most exercises, I quite enjoy it. But...I hate getting sweaty. I hate trainers especially and sportswear in general, and resent spending money on it. I don’t like showers and loathe pulling clothes on to a damp body after visiting the pool or gym. Love swimming but hate what chlorine does to my skin and hair.

I appreciate you sharing what works for you, but I know me. Countless lapsed gym memberships and leisure passes, exercise videos gathering dust, and C25K apps downloaded and deleted all tell me that it’s not the way for me. I would love it if it were. I am active - walk 12 - 15,000 steps a day, etc etc. Love a bit of intensive gardening or a fun game of tennis or swimming in the sea. But exercise for its own sake? No.

demented my youngest DS is 50% pizza, 50% chicken burger. Blush

MiaCulper · 04/05/2019 07:28

Good morning all, and happy bank holiday weekend.

Yesterday evening, I had a phone call from DS1 asking if I had started cooking. “No, not yet.” I said.
“Cool. I’ll pick up fish and chips then. My treat.”

How generous. How not carb friendly. Lordy, but it was delicious.

Anyway, this morning the scales say I have lost 1.6lbs AND 1 whole percent of body fat. Shock How is this possible? It makes no sense at all.

I am now 143.9lbs. Oh yes, I AM IN THE TEN STONES! Grin

jimmychoux · 04/05/2019 07:41

@MiaCulper

Snap, the same thing happened to me last night with ds1, except it was Chinese!

Thing is, I am never going to say no to eating with my kids, especially when they are paying.

Well done on your weight loss.

Today is a whole new day.

Cocolapew · 04/05/2019 09:26

Yay Mia! I'm so jealous Grin
DD1 took me to lunch yesterday but I wasn't too bad, had a cheese and ham omelette and brown toast, no pudding Halo

MiaCulper · 04/05/2019 09:35

THank you both. Must not spoil it today by thinking I can eat rubbish and get away with it.

dementedma · 04/05/2019 13:07

Good low carb day so far. Bacon and egg for breakfast, big bowl of natural yoghurt and berries for lunch. But STILL hungry and craving bread. Am also seriously grumpy! I'm blaming the diet but am just a bad tempered bitch.

Greenyogagirl · 04/05/2019 13:25

Can I join please?
Severe depression and a complete breakdown contributed to me gaining weight, I’m not uncomfortably big. I’ve got 5 stone to lose.
I’ve just moved and already feel better mentally but I’m at a loss how to lose the weight and feel very on my own with it

Greenyogagirl · 04/05/2019 13:26

I’m now uncomfortably big. I wish I meant ‘not’!

Cocolapew · 04/05/2019 14:05

Hi yogagirl 😃 Tbh I find starting off with small changes the easiest. I need to be in the zone to diet properly. Try cutting out snacking or not eating after a certain time at night. Once the weight starts to come off then it gees me on.
I'm still a bit crap at it atm but I've think I've eaten all the sugary stuff in the house and won't be buying any more.

jimmychoux · 04/05/2019 14:45

@Greenyogagirl. Start with really small steps. You have already decided you want to lose the weight and that's half the battle.

It's helpful to have this thread to post on, also knowing that we are all in the same boat helps.

Good luck.

Greenyogagirl · 04/05/2019 14:53

Thank you Smile

jimmychoux · 05/05/2019 06:42

Just checking in

How is everyone doing?

MiaCulper · 05/05/2019 08:27

Morning jimmy, and welcome yogagirl.

Tiny, peanut-related gain since yesterday which has put me back into the Elevens. Chuh.

Not sure what we are doing today, although vegetarian DD has asked if I will cook a roast, so I can look forward to her mithering me about cross-contamination later. Hmm

Walked into town yesterday and bought a very summery dress for me, school trousers for DS2 and a few bits from our swanky, over-priced deli.

Cocolapew · 05/05/2019 08:48

Morning, Iwas awful yesterday, I was very hungry all day and grazed instead of eating something substantial. I was running about taking and picking up the DDs to and from work so it's their fault 🤗
I'm going to calorie count this week, I usually end up eating the same thing every day but I don't mind that.
I appear to be addicted to dark rye ryvita and butter now 🙈

What's happening? Everyone's gone quiet!!

Anyone got any good news to share, good or bad?

JanieClay · 05/05/2019 17:20

Apologies - that's me not understanding how the site works!!

Oh - Completely understand ''eating the same thing every day'' syndrome. Seems much simpler than purchasing 7/14 different lists of produce for variation.

Have you ever tried the ''Quorn'' roast thingy? It looks hideous when you pull it out of the box, but it does give a satisfying chicken substitute flavour. Just don't let anyone see it before it's cut up for plating!!

This week, I will be mostly eating chicken. Boo hiss, not keen on it, but it's high in protein and low in fat.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

To avoid the hungry, fat person....

JanieClay · 05/05/2019 17:42

Just like to add that not eating after a certain time at night is a great idea - once you've made that decision, for many of us we find that the calorie intake can be greatly reduced.

It's a struggle initially, but totally worth it if you can curb it!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE Smile

Cocolapew · 05/05/2019 17:42

I'm sitting here shoving chocolate into me Hmm
I have shopped for my calorie counting week though, tomorrow is a new day BlushHalo

JanieClay · 05/05/2019 18:32

COCO!!

WTF?!

I can't talk - did that yesterday Blush

But you don't have to eat EVERYTHING!!! You could at least invite us round to share! LOL

Be warned - that sugar intake is gonna be lookin' for buddies tomorrow - have you something full of protein for brekko to sate your hunger and help alleviate cravings?

I'm gonna chop onions and sweet peppers quite small, fry them up (in fry light), the when they're soft, fold them into an omelette. Could also add chopped chilli/coriander if that's to your taste. Really looking forward to that now.

Good protein and a filling start to the day.

Anyone else have a brekko recipe they'd like to share??

dementedma · 05/05/2019 18:45

I have made a low carb bread! Lots of seeds and ground almonds etc. Very dense but feels like eating proper bread. Yay! Have been feeling utterly crap sin e the liw carbing started but today had a slice 9f the bread and a couple of boiled potatoes with dinner and feel better. I obviously need some carbs. Just have to get the balance right.

dementedma · 05/05/2019 18:46

Breakfast for me is either hard boiled eggs or Greek yoghurt with blueberries.

Cocolapew · 05/05/2019 18:54

I'm like Joey, I dont share food 😶.
I wasn't having breakfast when I was doing the 16:8, I love a breakfast usually. But when I was steroids I needed to eat it or I felt really sick.
I'm going to have wheat crackers and grapes with juice, I know what the calories are because I ate it all the time on my last diet. Though I don't think I'll have one on work days because I got used to the extra half hour in bed.
That's good that you are feeling better Demented, I can't do without any carbs.

MiaCulper · 05/05/2019 20:02

I don’t do breakfast. I haven’t since I started high school - which was a very long time ago indeed. I do like a brunch at the weekend though.

Terrible day today. Cooked a roast, as ordered, possibly the first one since New Year’s Day. Also had wine...and chocolate...and cheese. DH went to the gym, so had probably “earned” his. I ironed half a dozen shirts and watched NCIS, so I didn’t. Oh well.

Are you new to MN, Janie? I used to use the site a lot, but not for 4 or 5 years.

JanieClay · 06/05/2019 00:17

Hi Mia,

Yes, I'm ''new'' to the site. I've had an account here for years, but never really engage with it.

Sounds like you've had a lovely Sunday - DS doesn't like roast, so it's something I have only rarely. He doesn't do breakfast either. I'm not so sure it's as important as we're told, since not everyone can face food in the morning.

Greek yoghurt and blueberries is nice though.

Carbs are so tough to leave behind, aren't they? I'm gonna miss a good baguette!

MiaCulper · 06/05/2019 07:36

Good morning, everyone, and happy bank holiday.

It is DH’s birthday today. DS1 has got to go to work, but I am going to insist the other two have a day out with us to spend some “quality time” with their daddy. That’ll teach them. Wink

Not sure what the day will bring food-wise, but will try to avoid the carbs.
