Hi, I will join if that's ok. I am also on the 16-8 thread and started on Friday so today is day 4 for me. My weigh day will be Friday.

Good luck today everyone.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/04/2019 07:43

Stepped on the scales- 10.7.8 so my aim is to lose 8lb before school breaks up for Whitsun. 2lb a week.

Cocolapew · 29/04/2019 08:12

Forgot to say earlier, on Friday when I started I weighed 10st 13 and I would like to lose 2 stone. I am not very tall, 5'4" so I look very round and puffy carrying the weight.

I'm also an older girl, I am 51.

Frankel9 · 29/04/2019 13:45

Joining, would love to lose 7 lbs fast and then maybe another 7 more slowly. 9 stone 10 1/2 lbs is my starting weight, all my clothes are way too tight.

To start I am going to try a 3 day diet of asparagus/mange tout/eggs/sardines (love these foods), lots of nutrition but keeping calories under 1,000. Carbs are my downfall particularly bread and potatoes, I could eat potato salad all day. My birthday (52) is in a couple of weeks and I have a wedding to go to on 24th May. Good luck everyone and wave to other 'older girls'.

JanieClay · 29/04/2019 13:55

Great idea!

Thank you for posting, Coco.

I'm in - lost loads, gained back, same ol', same ol'.

Really feeling for 'averagebear', it's not easy trying to prepare without a kitchen.

Hopefully there'll be some uplifting stuff in here and some weight loss!

Best of luck everyone - remember to add more water to your daily intake!

Smile
jimmychoux · 29/04/2019 14:28

The no sugar headache has kicked in.

Cocolapew · 29/04/2019 16:20

Oh no Jimmy Sad drink plenty of water and hopefully that will help.
I had 2 hard boiled eggs, cheese and grapes for lunch and was quite full. I'd had an apple and banana 2 hours before it.
Going to have salmon and veg for tea.

I'm on hrt but its not working very well anymore, I need a higher dose but had a pulmonary embolism during my flare so can't in case of more clots. I'm going to come off it in November when I turn 51.
So hopefully will have myself at a decent weight before the menopause really kicks in .
My DD is graduating (🤞) in June so I'll be lovely and skinny by then obviously Grin.

jimmychoux · 29/04/2019 16:26

Thanks Cocolapew.

repeat after me
I shall be skinny by June, I shall be skinny by June.

Don't even get me started on the meno, that's a whole new thread!

Frankel9 · 29/04/2019 17:45

Jimmy maybe something salty would help too? Not sure, but you could try 4 almonds or a spoon of peanut butter.

SapphireBattersea · 29/04/2019 18:27

Can I join please? Got about 8lb to lose (have needed too since xmas tbh!!)

MiaCulper · 29/04/2019 18:36

So, I’m on day 3 of the 3 Day Egg Fast. It hasn’t been too difficult for me but my teenagers are moaning a bit about having to cook for themselves. Poor things.

I’m hoping it will reset my carb cravings and give me a boost to keep on with low carbing. It’s the only way for me - I have no off switch once I start on the bread bin.

Changed my HRT today because of supply issues. I’m rather hoping that the old medication was making me hold on to extra weight, and these new pills will make me slim in a matter of days. I can’t face the thought of not taking it as my main symptom was menopausal arthritis - the pain in my knees was horrific. Some days, even the thought of having to climb a flight of stairs would have me in tears. Today I have done 12,000 steps almost without realising.

Cocolapew · 29/04/2019 19:30

I'd kill for a packet of crisps atm Hmm
Do you only eat eggs nothing else Mia?

OP posts:
MiaCulper · 29/04/2019 19:46

Eggs, butter, full-fat mayonnaise, coconut oil and cheese. Isn’t it ridiculous? The “rules” are: minimum of six eggs a day (but as many as you are hungry enough to eat) and a tablespoon of fat for every egg.

I have been having bulletproof coffee in the morning and then hard-boiled or scrambled eggs and omelettes. I actually prefer poached eggs, but what’s the point without a thick slice of toast?

We’ll see what the scales say in the morning...

Cocolapew · 29/04/2019 20:00

Shock I love eggs but even I would struggle with that.
I'd need toast as well.
Dh is eating cream crackers and Im planning on divorcing him now

OP posts:
dementedma · 29/04/2019 21:34

mia i am low carbing too and eating lots of eggs but also a much wider diet, veggies etc.
Have switched to HRT patches and have definitely gained since moving over to them.

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 30/04/2019 06:34

I started LC last Thu - 5lb down so far. I’d like to lose 2 stone so that’s nearly the easy 25% gone.

DH is away for 2 weeks so I could do an egg fast. A tbspn of fat per egg.... not sure I could stomach that. Have you got a link? Good luck for weigh in MC :)

Foreverlexicon · 30/04/2019 06:49

I am so in.
I’ve gained a colossal amount of weight since September. Starting to reverse it and have lost 6 pounds then gained half a pound back this week.
I’m about to head off to a 2 day horse show. I’ve packed healthy meals but doubtlessly there will be alcohol and some treats. Hopefully the salads I’ve packed and the amount of walking I’ll be doing will compensate!
I won’t stress too much these 2 days as it’s a major championship and a once in a lifetime experience but I’m not going to have a binge fest either. Then firmly on it on Thursday!

MiaCulper · 30/04/2019 06:53

This thread here is where I heard of it. There are links to an earlier thread and a blog in there.

Scales say I have lost 2.6lbs in three days. Not the 4/5 lbs other people have shed, but a loss is a loss I suppose. (Tells self that they are probably YOUNG or marathon runners or not mentioning their leg amputation.)

Starting a more sensible low carb WOE from today at exactly 11 stone and no decimal places. Surely I will make the tens this time? 4lbs would get me into my healthy BMI range. Another half a stone after that and fitting into my summer clothes is actually a possibility.

Cocolapew · 30/04/2019 08:09

Well done on the losses, 5lb is great! Good luck at the horse show Forever .
Hope your head is better Jimmy , mines thumping this morning.
I resisted eating any carbs last night Halo
Good luck for the days eating everyone.

OP posts:
jimmychoux · 30/04/2019 09:26

Cocolapew I've still got my headache. It kept me awake last night so I'm not feeling great today. Sorry you too have a headache.

I have been good food wise.

How's everyone doing?

JanieClay · 30/04/2019 15:19

Hi All,

Loving the idea of kickstarting the digestive system with hot water and lemon.

Do you also leave it thirty minutes before eating after having fluids, or does anyone? I can't recall where I read about that, but it I think it's to aid better digestion.

Hope you're all still avoiding food traps and having a GREAT day!

MiaCulper · 30/04/2019 16:33

I hadn’t heard that, Janie, but I have heard that if you feel hungry, you should have a glass of water first as our brains often misinterpret the signals for thirst/hunger.

My teen DD told me to drink a shot of apple cider vinegar half an hour before eating. She got this “top tip” of Instagram. 🤔 Fuck, but it is disgusting. It BURNS. And it makes anything you do eat taste revolting which is probably how it helps you lose weight.

I got a combined multivitamin and probiotic from Boots. Little capsule which doesn’t taste of anything at all. Much easier.

Sympathies for those with the headaches. Hope they pass soon.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/04/2019 16:43

Mia if you dilute the ACV in a pint of water it is much more palatable! I don't think you're supposed to drink neat vinegar.

Cocolapew · 30/04/2019 16:52

I think Beyonce does the cider vinegar thing.
Head lifted around lunch but I ate 4 CRACKERS Shock.
I went to salt my egg and the lid fell off and ruined my cheese, so had 4 water biscuits. They were like nectar 🥰
I've decided low carb is not for me Grin, I'm going to try to be healthier and no snacks.
I had a chicken and veg hotpot from Marks and Spencers diet range and it was very tasty. My tea time is getting earlier and earlier mind.
Hope everyone did better than me today 🙈
