Sugar and alcohol detox from tomorrow...who's with me?

I'm a sugar addict. It's gotten so bad. Today I've eaten an Easter egg, three slices of cake, a meringue and I've drank some prosecco....ok it is Easter BUT since my baby was born 6 months ago I've massively gone off the rails. Probably the sugar is helping me cope with the sleep deprivation! Anyway I've decided, I'm quitting added sugar and alcohol tomorrow! I will still be eating fruit, pasta, rice and potatoes, just not sugar in coffee, biscuits, sweets, cakes etc.( Disclaimer...I have two weddings in the next month so may have a class of bubbles on those two occasions!). Anyway I could do with some accountability buddies so does anyone want to join me?

I had fish and chips for lunch yesterday Blush but low carbed for the rest of the day, so calorie intake was still around 1700 (am breastfeeding).

I do think once you fall off, so to speak, the temptation is much greater to think ‘bugger it, I might as well reach for the chocolate.’ At the end of the day, we’re trying to habit firm and it will take a while for the habits to become positive and healthy.

willow maybe worth planning in advance you’ll only eat half the slice you get? You can always crumble the other bit. I sometimes find even a small bit of virtuousity can keep me going - a sort of mid point between eating everything and nothing!

Well minor (ish) blip at a wedding this weekend...the veggie option was awful and for some reason they didn't serve the veggies sticky toffee pudding! I was given a tiny meringue and fruit which to be honest is probably for the best. Also had a couple of glasses of wine which for me is pretty much sober haha. Hopefully not too much damage done. We should post a weekly weigh in on Mondays? I don't expect I'll have lost much this week though.

Well I seem to have lost a lb overnight! How's everyone else getting on?

Hmmm, finding it really hard now, not sure why. Think I'm getting less sleep so mybe that's it? I've been eating more than I planned to and have broken my "nothing after 8pm" rule the previous two nights.

Haven't had anything sugary though so pleased about that. Am going to try to do better tonight, and go to bed earlier. Salmon and veg for tea Smile

Villanellesproudmum · 30/04/2019 20:43

I’ve lost 3lb although won’t count it until it’s been off a week to be sure.

chewbacca83 · 30/04/2019 21:57

@little cabbage don't worry just take each day as it comes and keep the end goal in sight.
@Villanellesproudmum well done on the loss! Keep up the good work!

I've done 2 days sugar free, although today I did eat rather a lot to keep my cravings down. Hopefully tomorrow it will feel a bit calmer.

Wallywobbles · 01/05/2019 22:24

A relatively good day today. Hopefully to reflected on the scales tomorrow.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 01/05/2019 22:35

Now done 3 days sugar free. No cravings at all today even when filing out Easter eggs. I will keep on this way for a few more days then I'm going to start properly calorie counting.

chewbacca83 · 02/05/2019 19:51

Minimal weight loss but noticing some other benefits. My skin is heaps better already. I've always had adult acne and spots on my arms, and it's definitely much less noticeable! Anyone else had any unexpected benefits?!

My hair feels more silky but I think I just bought better conditioner. Lol

chewbacca83 · 02/05/2019 21:46

@stopitandtidyupp may be it is a side effect who knows!

Yeah bank holiday failed a bit...but I was at another wedding. However I've seen photos of me at the wedding and I'm a whale so I'm back on it tomorrow!

I look blown up 😫.

Wallywobbles · 07/05/2019 23:14

I refuse to get back on the scales until I've had a proper shit. Sorry to lower the tone. Total loss is about 4 kg or so since 23 April.

I'm now 11 days sugar free! It's very odd, I still want chocolate and I very much have that 'I want to stuff my face with all the food' feeling- but then something's just switched off in my head and I just don't. To be fair, I'm probably eating too much cheese because I'm feeding that urge with something else, but not a grain of sugar has passed my lips.

After the weekend I intend to calorie count (you may recall I said this 8 days ago upthread, it did not happen as planned!) but I'm so pleased with the sugar detox I hope it will be easy enough to cut back the cals.

chewbacca83 · 10/05/2019 14:06

I've failed again! Honestly I'm so useless! Any tips for self control?! I'm starting again (again)! Bloody hell I need a kick up the arse
