Sugar and alcohol detox from tomorrow...who's with me?

chewbacca83 · 21/04/2019 21:00

I'm a sugar addict. It's gotten so bad. Today I've eaten an Easter egg, three slices of cake, a meringue and I've drank some prosecco....ok it is Easter BUT since my baby was born 6 months ago I've massively gone off the rails. Probably the sugar is helping me cope with the sleep deprivation! Anyway I've decided, I'm quitting added sugar and alcohol tomorrow! I will still be eating fruit, pasta, rice and potatoes, just not sugar in coffee, biscuits, sweets, cakes etc.( Disclaimer...I have two weddings in the next month so may have a class of bubbles on those two occasions!). Anyway I could do with some accountability buddies so does anyone want to join me?

Woo hoo, have managed the whole day! Go me 💪 Scrambled eggs for breakfast, green soup for lunch and Salmon with sprouts, broccoli and cauli for dinner. Bit of cheese for a snack. Tomorrow however is another day and there's a good chance I'll come off the rails in a big way!

TurnOffTheTv · 23/04/2019 18:14

I’ve just had Greek yogurt with warmed up dark cherries from the freezer poured over the top, that’s me done for the door. Only herbal tea from now on

littlecabbage · 23/04/2019 18:29

Just making boiled eggs and mashed avocado on toast. Had beans and scrambled egg on toast for lunch. Babybel for afternoon snack. Oh, and small amount of strawbs and greek yoghurt after lunch.

Dinner!

You're all doing so well. I've had a thoroughly shocking day, culminating in a rather big amount of crappy sugary rubbish.

Wallywobbles · 23/04/2019 19:37

So far not too bad. Invisible amount of porridge for breakfast plus coffee and water.

Lunch very late, 30g of vegetarian shepherds pie and two handfuls of spinach. 4 slices of French bacon nothing to do with the real deal(for 60 calories).

Snack raw mangetout. Orange chocolate diet bag thing.

Supper 30g potato hot pot 70g each of courgette, mushrooms and pepper fried with a splash of soya sauce. 0% yoghurt and 2 tsp of peanut powder.

Coming in just shy of 1000 calories. It's going to be a long 8 weeks.

littlecabbage · 23/04/2019 19:40

Never mind thenewaveragebear1983, tomorrow is a new day.

Well done everyone! I had two rice cakes just now because I'm so hungry!! I hope this gets easier. I've been drinking so much herbal tea!

Can I join please? I planned to restart today after the long (chocolate and Prosecco fuelled weekend), but it didn’t happen. Tomorrow is a fresh start.

DramaAlpaca · 23/04/2019 22:32

I've done OK today, nothing sugary has passed my lips Halo I'm going to let DH finish my Easter egg, he'll be delighted.

And now I'm off to bed, very early for me, so I'm not tempted by anything.

LikeSilentRaindrops · 24/04/2019 05:24

I need help to start today! Shopping order arrived last night after a weekend of excess - lots of green stuff, all good, feeling like I can do this! Ate my last Easter egg before bed at 10.

Then baby woke up and wanted a feed at 11 (normally goes til 4 Confused) baby squibbled loudly at 1am, waking me up. 4 year old came in crying at 3am, waking up me and baby. And baby has just woken up again for her normal first feed. All I want is to gorge on chocolate!!! 😫

RuggyPeg · 24/04/2019 06:13

I'm not surprised Like - you must be exhausted.

@LikeSilentRaindrops I feel your pain, it's so hard when you're tired. I've also realised I'm drinking far too much coffee and tea so trying to drink more herbal.

Coffee with sugar yesterday I need to ween myself off the sugar in coffee. But stuck to eaten within 8 hours and mainly salad eaten. Had some pasta in the evening though, living in a building site and need some energy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/04/2019 07:36

After a disastrous day yesterday, I'm back on board for a sugar free day today. Menu planned, skipping breakfast and then a salad lunch and fish for dinner.

Villanelle I used to have sugar, then sweetener in my coffee, and really struggled to give it up. Then one day just went cold turkey, and honestly after a few days I didn't notice the difference. I couldn't drink it sweetened now, even with those fancy syrups. And (not so much now because I'm used to it) it seemed to stop me craving other sweet things when I had it too. Might be worth a try?

TurnOffTheTv · 24/04/2019 07:44

Another 1lb off, so two since Monday.

B- Avocado/egg/tomatoes
L-Tuna Nicoise
D-Chicken Sausages and broccoli mash
S-Yogurt and berries

I prepped a ton of veggies and salad stuff in containers in the fridge so it’s making life much easier, and boiled some eggs to keep in there too

Have a great day everyone!

Wallywobbles · 24/04/2019 08:24

400g off on the scales and up at least 4x for a pee. Also seem to have lost a Tampax in the night. I'm assuming it fell out or I took it out during one of the pees but no recollection!

RuggyPeg · 24/04/2019 12:56

Midway through Day 2 and still not succumbed to sugar or chocolate. Am trying to focus on that rather than losing weight at the mo. I'm not limiting my carb intake to keto levels, as I think I'd just fall off the wagon immediately. I'll tackle that bit later, once I've got sugar under control. So brekkie was raspberries, lunch is a veggie sausage, a piece of cheese and a hummus & avocado wrap! Dinner will be salmon and veggies again.

LikeSilentRaindrops · 24/04/2019 18:55

Thanks for the supportive messages! It boosted me into a decent morning (smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and loooads of green tea), but I lost it a bit about 3 when I had some chocolate rice cakes and a handful of 4yo’s mini eggs Blush

Mid afternoons are so rough after a bad night Sad

Tomorrow is another day!’

littlecabbage · 24/04/2019 20:07

Well done everyone. Don't feel bad Like. I think that is an extremely modest binge for someone who is sleep deprived.

Today I had my usual porridge with raspberries, Babybel for snack.

Lunch at a friend's which was 2 slices of pizza and a chicken wrap with lots of salad. Another Babybel, houmous and carrot mid afternoon (was making chocolate Easter nests with kids, so needed to eat something, to stop me nicking mini eggs).

Now eating ham and cheese omelette with chopped avocado. Hopefully swimming later this evening.... New goggles arrived in post, so no excuses Grin

Wallywobbles · 24/04/2019 20:21

The high point of the day was my supper which was boobs (2 poached eggs) on veg. The other variant was a glass of homemade kefir at breakfast. Fairly bleh, but if it helps me sort out the IBS I'm determined to stick at it. Ive never stuck at it for more than a week I think.

Come in at a smidgen under 1000 calories again today.
