Sugar and alcohol detox from tomorrow...who's with me?

chewbacca83 · 21/04/2019 21:00

I'm a sugar addict. It's gotten so bad. Today I've eaten an Easter egg, three slices of cake, a meringue and I've drank some prosecco....ok it is Easter BUT since my baby was born 6 months ago I've massively gone off the rails. Probably the sugar is helping me cope with the sleep deprivation! Anyway I've decided, I'm quitting added sugar and alcohol tomorrow! I will still be eating fruit, pasta, rice and potatoes, just not sugar in coffee, biscuits, sweets, cakes etc.( Disclaimer...I have two weddings in the next month so may have a class of bubbles on those two occasions!). Anyway I could do with some accountability buddies so does anyone want to join me?

I have done my first day sugar free in a very long time, so I'm very pleased. (Especially as the house is still full of chocolate). Not had any real withdrawals either, but I did have a very busy day so no time to think about it really.

LikeSilentRaindrops · 25/04/2019 05:17

Thanks @littlecabbage, I’ve realised if it’s in the house, I’ll eat it - so it needs to not be in the house! I’m hoping I have a bit of calorie leeway as I’m breastfeeding a 3mo.

Slightly better night last night, so am feeling more positive about today. Anyone know of any apps that ping regular reminders to drink water? I think that could be helpful.

Villanellesproudmum · 25/04/2019 07:38

I’ve just signed up to a boot camp, I feel more motivated if I know how hard it is to work off the weight. I’m don’t want to weigh myself as I know I overweight Sad again. Everyone is doing so well!

chewbacca83 · 25/04/2019 17:39

Well this was a difficult day! Lunch out with friends...but I had a salad and a coffee with no sugar (bleugh) and NO CAKE! I must deserve a prize it something it was toetui! Stir-fry for tea and herbal teas! How's everyone else getting on?

You definitely get a prize! No 🍡🍫🍩 tho. You'll have to make do with 🥗🥚🥦🍓🥑 instead 😂😂

I've not had a good day today. Damn you cadburies chocolate for tasting so good. Damn you.

chewbacca83 · 25/04/2019 21:32

Thanks RuggyPeg I know what you mean about Cadburys. I just met some uni friends today and they're all size 8s. I look like a hippo in the photos with them. Must keep on track!

I’m still not back on track - Easter chocolates and days off are not helping. I’ve planned my food for tomorrow and I’m back in work so hopefully I’ll be too busy to eat junk! I’m also planning a run tomorrow night...

Down by 1.8kg this morning. 13.2 to go for target one. Easier day yesterday cos i was working.

Porridge for breakfast and 2 black coffees

Lunch dhal with spinach

Diet chocolate bar thing and raw mange-tout as snacks

Supper artichoke with nothing and omelette and lettuce.

Today I may go riding. Exercise is always a bit tricky on a VLCD to start with.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/04/2019 06:46

2 days sugar free and low carb and I'm down 3.5lb of my Easter bloat!

Villanellesproudmum · 26/04/2019 07:43

They are big loses! Well done. Did my first boot camp this morning, so unfit Confused not helped by a woman who practically danced through it making it look easy, but motivated for the day.

TurnOffTheTv · 26/04/2019 07:59

Morning,

Everyone is doing so well!

5lb down since monday :-)

Yesterday was pretty good food wise, apart from some chocolate milk, but I ran 10 miles and need something quickly so had that with a banana.

Plan for today

B- Asparagus wrapped in ham with a poached egg (already eaten)
L- Thai duck curry with Veg
D-Chicken and avocado salad
S-Pepperami and cheese

Have a great day everyone!

chewbacca83 · 26/04/2019 09:47

Great loses everyone. I haven't lost anything! And ive had weird dreams and headaches the last two days. Anyone else? I'm assuming it's sugar withdrawal

I think it’s the low carbing rather than the sugar deficit that’s fuelling my loss!

LikeSilentRaindrops · 26/04/2019 16:32

Crikey, well done everyone!! I haven’t dared step on the scales, but I’m doing well today 👍🏻

Breakfast - scrambled egg and smoked salmon
Snack - 2 choc covered rice cakes
Lunch - homemade chicken spinach curry with broccoli rice
Snack - apple and last corner of child’s tuna wrap (does that negate all my low
Dinner - will be fish pie in coconut milk with sweet potato

Am too scared to weigh, as from past experience, if I haven’t lost anything, I get really disheartened and comfort myself with more chocolate!

LikeSilentRaindrops · 26/04/2019 16:33

*negate all my low carbing, that was meant to say 😏

DramaAlpaca · 26/04/2019 20:40

I haven't weighed myself as my scales need a battery, but I think my jeans feel looser. Yay!

I've been having a protein shake for breakfast (200 cals), soup for lunch, Greek yogurt with a few blueberries for a snack, then a normal dinner. And no wine.

Lozz22 · 26/04/2019 22:38

I could do the no alcohol part easy but no sugar. Not a chance!! I'm currently laid in bed stuffing down a block of chocolate and 2 toffee cream donuts. Yesterday I got through a mince pie, 5 bourbon biscuits a bag of mini kinder eggs and a bag of Oreo mini eggs, the day before that I popped in to see my Grandma for 10 mins before she went shopping and raided her biscuit tin. The only time I was refined this week was after stuffing down 2 Cadbury's Creme eggs a bowl of strawberries and a huge helping of Cadbury's Creme egg ice cream I was only able to eat one half of my Easter egg coz I felt a bit sick 😂

stopitandtidyupp · 27/04/2019 06:54

Well done everyone!

I have woken up at 6.30am starving, with full on ketosis breath. Ugh!!!

I have not been having breakfast but doing the 16:8 intermittent fast. So I have had 2 slim and save shakes at about 12. Then I had a salad for tea with roasted almonds, a bit of aubergine falafel and tahini sauce.

I have quit coffee completely for four days so far. I felt I was drinking too much to get me through the morning. Which was giving me a bad time on the toilet. It actually is saving me time at work as I am not rushing a coffee down during breaks. I do have a cup of tea with milk at night though.

Off on an 8 mile walk today as I am volunteering for DoE. Dreading it as its raining. Taking scrambled eggs and tuna.

I am setting myself a challenge to not weigh for 12 weeks. This will be a challenge as I used to weigh every day!

Last night was the first Friday I haven't drank in a while. So the expedition has helped with that.
Hope you are all doing well! Its bloody hard!

2.2 kgs down. Bloody knackered tonight. Frustrating dreams last night and DH bed hogging.

littlecabbage · 27/04/2019 22:26

Sounds as though several of us have stumbled a bit, a few days in. I have too! Nothing dreadful but have eaten more than I meant to the last 3 days. Still avoiding sugar, but allowed myself more Babybels, nuts etc than I should have.

Also went to pub with friends last night and decided to drink. I drink so rarely and just fancied it Blush. But avoided my usual wine, and had three single raspberry gins with a 200ml tonic shared between them.

Today was okayish except I broke my rule of not eating after 8pm. Putting kids to bed took ages, so I had cheese, nuts and fruit and yoghurt when I got back downstairs. Back to it properly tomorrow.....

Sammysquiz · 28/04/2019 07:55

Those of you who’re worried about how to deal with meeting people for cake etc, I find it helps to tell people beforehand. I say something along the lines of ‘just to let you know that I’m trying to be sugar-free for a bit so won’t be having cake/booze. Don’t mind at all if you do, but please don’t try to persuade me as I’m very weak-willed!!’ and generally friends have been very supportive.

I also try to concentrate on how I’ll feel afterwards. So if I’m staring longingly at a chocolate bar, instead of thinking of how fantastic it’ll taste, I think about what my emotions will be afterwards and how I’ll regret it.
