Carrying on from the March thread (but all new joiners welcome), a fresh slate for April!

Please join me - all plans welcome (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, eating-only-blue-food eaters). Here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

My starting weight for April is 65.1 pounds and getting to 62-ish or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

Morning everyone. I hope we all have a good day.

cricketmum84 · 09/04/2019 07:34

I've had a naughty few days. I find it so hard to diet when the kids are at home during the day!! Really really have to pull back on points for the rest of the week. Today I've had a coffee and a banana for breakfast, made a Greek salad with low fat feta and olives for lunch and stuck it in the fridge so there's no excuse to eat badly. I've got loads of apples and grapes in for snacks. Taken some chicken breasts out to do pesto grilled chicken for tea, will have a big salad with it again.

Hope everyone is doing well!

edwardson · 09/04/2019 14:07

Sounds like a good plan @cricketmum84 ! Good luck.

On a random note - has anyone used protein shakes before? I'm using mfp and I can see my protein is low daily. I'm a vegetarian and know I could eat more lentils but it seems like protein shakes might be an easy fix. A bit artificial and processed though. Has anyone else had experiences (good or bad) in using protein shakes to help weight loss?

shoelace88 · 09/04/2019 14:23

Hi all, can I join? I need to lose about 25lbs all together and feel I need a little encouragement. I have 3 daughters and I was very fit right before having my 3rd child. Well, she's now 3 and I still haven't gotten to where I was. I started working out again yesterday and trying to get my food in check today. I hope to check in here everyday, if that's ok?
Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs and fruit
Lunch: sweet potatoes
Dinner: salad with chicken
Snacks: fruit and absolutely NO cookies
Now that I've shared my food, it will be easier for me to stick to it. Lol

ZsaZsaMc · 09/04/2019 15:07

Weighing in today:

-1lbs (9st 11.5lbs)

I think this probably reflects the last couple of weeks rather than this week where I’ve only tracked 3/7 days and enjoyed several meals out including a curry!

I’m still not feeling v motivated to be honest. It’s such slow going.

Going to have chicken and salad tonight and maybe some rice if my points allow (probably not as just ate a hot cross bun Grin)

whatthefoxsaid · 09/04/2019 15:25

Afternoon, some lovely sounding food on the go! Now have a yearning for Greek salad!
My new batteries are finally here so I'll face the consequences of my half arsed attempts.
Re protein shakes I think they're useful if you're hitting the gym for muscle recovery but I wouldn't want to rely on them too much- they're very sweet! Could you make some tweaks elsewhere e.g do you eat eggs?

DelphiMum · 09/04/2019 18:26

@edwardson have you looked into Huel. All real food apparently. Not tried it myself.

VivaFrida · 09/04/2019 20:18

Hello just quick check in to say hi to all - congratulations to all for the losses and a warm encouragement to those who are finding it difficult/slow weight loss. I am really tired tonight (long day at work) so apologies if I am forgetting anyone.

ZsaZsaMc which programme are you following again? remind me?

shoelace88 welcome and you are very welcome to check in everyday! I love when people post often.

cricketmum84 it's really hard to be at home with little ones who eat often - it's all about the food!! But looks like you have a great plan.

Crazzycat that's 1.7kg in 2 weeks, good loss.

aweedropofsancerre well done for keeping into calories during problematic times.

Hello HouseHelp2019, whatthefoxsaid and DelphiMum [waves]!

Tonight I cooked a Roman dish, pollo ai pepperoni (chicken with peppers) - loosely following this recipe -
ricette.giallozafferano.it/Petto-di-pollo-ai-peperoni.html - I served with couscous - just a little bit for me but my appetite seems to have diminished quite a bit (I must be dying or something).

If you read Italian Giallo Zafferano is the website to use, lots of good recipes can be adapted to become low points/low calories by eliminating the wine and butter and using olive oil sparingly.

Aargh, WI day for me tomorrow and, as usual, I feel THE FEAR!!

In awe of you all. Not having a good time of it - just back from a business trip where at the last minute I had to change the clothes I'd packed because they were too tight. But even this doesn't appear to be a wake up call as I drank beer at the airport whilst writing up my report before flying back. No sparkling water to be seen....

edwardson · 09/04/2019 22:26

@whatthefoxsaid I have been having two eggs for breakfast every day, but still not even close. I think I might just be deficient in cheese and peanut butter the last week or so Grin

@DelphiMum good idea - I think I've seen the ads on Facebook but never clicked. I'll take a look, thank you!

edwardson · 09/04/2019 22:28

@didireallysaythat sorry to hear that - business trips are so hard, the stress of travel alone makes it an uphill battle.

CalmConfident · 09/04/2019 22:29

Linking in late....new leaf now being turned. My only plan is to log on MFP so I know the full view of what I am eating...no idea on start weight (do not have scales) so will try to check in at gym next couple of days

didireallysaythat · 09/04/2019 22:38

@edwardson - thank you but really I'm my worst enemy. I can come up with any excuse... What I need is to be told how.to.get my head in the right space. I know what to eat. But I'm not sufficiently bothered. I've a day home, a day away, a day home and then I'm off to see my terminally ill father at the weekend. None of which makes me want to meal plan yet I know I'd be happier in myself if I was half a stone lighter!

VivaFrida · 10/04/2019 06:12

Morning!

Flash communication, "meh" weight loss for me this week (five days really, going away for work messed up with my weigh schedule), 0.3 kg but still -2.1kg since March 31 (4.63 pounds) so moderately optimistic to make the 3kg/7 pounds challenge.

At least It's moving in the right direction and I can feel the difference in my outlook, optimism, energy levels and in how my clothes fit. So, I keep on keeping on!

This is the graph of my weight with the trend line and milestones. I am nearly half way!!

Viva Well done! As you say koko.

I’m trying not to weigh every day but weighed this morning and I’m down 2.7kg since the start of the month. Like I’ve said earlier, I think a lot of this is probably water weight.

shoelace88 · 10/04/2019 12:52

Good morning everyone!

It's so awesome to have a place to check in again. You guys are all doing amazing, even though struggle, keep up the good work!
Yesterday was my first full day of staying on track with food. I'm so excited I made I through the whole day! I was able to start working out again on Monday, so two days down. I'm definitely feeling a bit sore. I've chosen Fitness Blender on YouTube, because.... free and they have so many videos. 😁

Breakfast: 2 hardboiled eggs and peppers
Lunch: salad with chicken
Dinner: red beans and sausage without rice
Snacks: apples with peanutbutter & fruit

I hope everyone has a fantastic day! 😊

Crazzzycat · 10/04/2019 21:57

Well done on putting those first two days behind you shoelace. They really are the hardest. So if you can do those, you can do anything Wink

VivaFrida 2.1 kg in 10 days is pretty impressive! Weight loss can be pretty non-linear, so I’m sure it won’t be long until it picks up again.

After my, somewhat underwhelming, 0.3 kg weighloss in the first week, I lost 0.6 kg over the last two days. There’s just no logic to it whatsoever, but I’m happy to take that loss!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 11/04/2019 09:23

Hello all. Sorry I've been slack at popping here.

Weighed myself this morning

10st 13lbs.

Can't quite believe it's true!

9th Feb I was 12st 3.2lbs!

I weigh 10st something 😨😍

VivaFrida · 11/04/2019 09:35

Absolutely crazzzycat no logic whatsoever! But good loss 0.6kg in 2 days - take it and run with it!!

Lovely to read your updates shoelace88! and Congrats HouseHelp2019 - the the 2.7kg loss like a boss!!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 11/04/2019 09:42

Great graph viva. What app do you use?

VivaFrida · 11/04/2019 09:45

FunkyBarnYardBroom crossed posts - you sexy 10 stone minx!!! Congrats!!!

Yesterday I struggled.

Not so much food wise but with MH - I suffer of bouts of depression and anxiety and I made the mistake to take my phone to my room and read the news on waking: big mistake!! The Brexit uncertainty (we are a EU/UK family) truly sets me off and I got up later than usual and with a super heavy heart. But I forced myself to do exercise, left the house to have my hair done (was working only 1/2 day yesterday) and by the afternoon I was feeling much better. Finished the day within points, having done exercise and nearly 18,000 steps!

Today started well, I am busy all day with meetings at head office but I got up early to do 30 minutes of workout and could definitely not an improvement in my fitness, and my 'fat dimples' in the arms have gone!! Just had breakfast on the train and feel a bit more optimistic.

FunkyBarnYardBroom I use 'ultimate food diary' -£5.99 on the App store - it's based on an old WW system (more restrictive than the present 'freestyle' - N.B = NOT a dig at freestyle - RESPECT if it works for you - it does not work for me).

OP posts:
caruti33 · 11/04/2019 10:29

Oh wow, congrats @FunkyBarnYardBroom ! That's amazing! What have you been doing?

After losing 5lbs last week, I weighed myself this morning to find I've lost nothing despite sticking to 1300 cals and gymming. Quite disheartening but I've also just started PMT'ing which is probably why. Its so annoying as I know the next few days I'll just want to eat everything around me and crave chocolate. How do you all deal with pmt cravings whilst trying to lose weight?

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 11/04/2019 10:32

I'm eating 1000 cals. Not counting tea and coffee.

Making sure my fitbit registers at least 3 miles a day of movement.

That's it

Chocolatepeanuts · 11/04/2019 11:04

FunkyBarn that is amazing!!! Well done love!!!
