Half a stone off in April (3kgs for the 'metrix')

Carrying on from the March thread (but all new joiners welcome), a fresh slate for April!

Please join me - all plans welcome (calorie counters, weight watchers, citizens of slimming world, intermittent fasters, eating-only-blue-food eaters). Here to support each other and aim to lose 7 pounds, or 3 kgs.

My starting weight for April is 65.1 pounds and getting to 62-ish or just under by the end of the month would be great.

Who is in?

1.5lbs off for me this week. Not too bad seeing as I have been really bad and hardly tracked again. Today is day 1 of a new week so I'm going to stick rigidly within my WW points, run 3 times this week and track everything I eat.

Still don't have a new job so I'm at home with the kids all week which always makes sticking to my diet harder!

whatthefoxsaid · 06/04/2019 10:34

Well done to the losers Wink I was hoping to report in today but my scales are varying wildly between a sts and 4lb loss Hmm so I've ordered a new battery and will try again next week.
Busy social weekend for me but will do my best!

caruti33 · 06/04/2019 11:16

Happy weekend everyone!
I've ended the week with a 5lbs loss - wooop! Started at 12.8lbs and today weighed in at 12.3lbs! Very happy with that and I haven't straved myself either, just clean eating and sticking to 1300 calories a day. I've also done roughly 40mins cardio a day in the gym so that's also contributed. Taking a day off the 1300 cals today 😆 but also playing tennis this afternoon and DP taking me out for dinner tonight. Back on it tomorrow though 💪🏼
Well done everyone! Love reading how you are all doing and what you're all doing - it really does help!
Here's to the weekend 🥂

Hi. Late to the April party but can I join please? I've been starting a healthier way of eating every Monday since the new year and always drop off plan by the end of the same week. So I thought I'd break a pattern and start on a Saturday this time Grin.

I'm the wrong side of 45, arthritic and generally in need of an overhaul. I like, cook and eat lots of healthy food, but far too much of it. I also have a terrible relationship with carbs and sugar and once I start I can't stop. Something's got to give before I hit the next milestone birthday. I know my triggers are tiredness and stress so this needs to go hand in hand with some earlier nights, gym visits and mindfulness. I work from my parents house 2-3 days a week, helping to look after my Dad who has Parkinsons and Alzheimers and the house is stuffed to the gills with goodies. So my priority is to start planning my meals for those days to avoid the temptation. Looking at this as a long-term lifestyle change rather than a short fix, with a focus on health as much as the scales. Not following a specific plan, although have been reading some Gillian Riley for motivation.

I'm of the dumpy, apple-shape persuasion and don't carry extra weight well. Starting position is 11st 9. Look forward to being part of this.

aweedropofsancerre · 06/04/2019 11:50

caruti33 woohoo that’s brilliant!

I have been a little sloth like into my weight loss regime. However have cut out wine during the week and exercise started this morning. I am doing my weigh in next Saturday when I have ended the week having fully committed myself

HouseHelp2019 · 06/04/2019 12:41

Hello everyone! I need your help. I’ve got to go out for a meal at a Chinese restaurant tonight. What are my healthiest options?!

DelphiMum · 06/04/2019 13:53

Sar302 weddings!!! I’ve got one next weekend and then another two in the summer. Next weekend is with all my child free and skinny uni friends. Going to feel so frumpy in my BF dress...

VivaFrida · 06/04/2019 16:15

HouseHelp2019 perhaps chicken and go lightly with the rice/noodles? I have googled it for you and there is a site for it: www.self.com/story/registered-dietitians-order-chinese-takeout
(The 17 Healthiest Chinese Food Takeout Options, According to Registered Dieticians).

Welcome theedgeofthecloud Smile a lot of us (well... me) struggle with stress and sugar and BIG YES to Looking at this as a long-term lifestyle change rather than a short fix, with a focus on health as much as the scales. - me too! I must 'fess I am watching at things like detox and 'eat only dust for 3 days' so i can shed weight quicker but I am determined to steer clear from fads and just eat sensibly (and less) and do this for life.

Well done everyone on your losses and welcome theedgeofthecloud. Hopefully all the support in this group will help you stay on the straight and narrow!

I’m having a better day today than the last few days. My constant thinking about food seems to have stopped for now, which makes this whole diet thing a lot easier Wink

Thanks VivaFrida for those exercise links. I think you’re right that it may have been the lack of exercise that was driving me a bit crazy these last few days. Going for a walk this morning helped to reset my head, but it’s good to have some indoor options too.

MercuryRising · 06/04/2019 18:48

Feeling determined..dp and the dc are eating chinese...im cooking a baked potato. I best lose this week!!

VivaFrida · 07/04/2019 12:39

MercuryRising you and me baby, we are totally badass!! My DH and I watched Man City on the telly yesterday and he was having cashew nuts and Doritos with salsa and I had... tuna and grapes (not together). We got this!

I'm terrified to even weigh myself... the healthy eating has gone a bit off the rails this week. Started off well but fell into temptation with work stress and evening events 3 nights running. Will weigh later today but suspect it's a gain Sadwell done to all of you who are on track! I'll be working twice as hard this week, starting today

HouseHelp2019 · 07/04/2019 15:01

Thanks Viva. I had a small portion of Szechuan prawns and crispy noodle.

I’m busy doing loads of diy today.

GottaGetUp · 08/04/2019 08:38

Weighed in at 68.6kg this morning. It feels good but I’m aware it’s probably an inflated loss because I first weighed myself the morning after a big day.

I’m going to try to stick to Monday morning weigh ins from now on, I can get a bit obsessive with weighing every day when I’m trying to lose.

I haven’t got my yoga mat out yet Blush

I hereby promise the thread that I shall do some yoga today 😄

VivaFrida · 08/04/2019 08:41

Good morning and happy start of the week. We have done it - Week 1 of April, done! Tick! Yes! Gone! Finito! How's everyone's lard behaving? have you badasses beaten it into submission yet? (disclaimer: this is a figure of speech and does not signal an abusive personality).

I am working from home and it's the Easter holidays so there is the HAPPY positive of not having to organise the school lunches/school day etc, but there is the BOO negative of doing a day's work with teens in the house (DS1 coming back home today from University).

Fortunately I can do a good stint in the morning and finish early and then perhaps do another stint in the early evening, if the kids are happy doing their homework/watching Netflix/talking to their firmed on social media. I am also due a few days off and time in lieu for all the travelling I do, and DH is off all next week so I am mildly optimistic that we can juggle it ok as a fam!

Oh weight loss, yes. Hmmm. I weigh on Wednesdays so not sure how it's going. The only thing I can say is that I have stayed in plan, even the odd mini chocolate egg has been pointed, and kept the exercise up. Hopefully the scales will oblige.

How are you doing, beauties?

I’m checking in with my weight loss stats. I’ve lost a grand total of....0.3 kg this week

It’s a little frustrating that the loss is so small. I was tempted to blow the diet for most of the week, but stuck to the plan, so was hoping for a bigger reward.

Right, I shall pick myself up, ignore those numbers and just keep doing what I was doing. I’m sure the losses will increase at some point!

Crazzzycat · 08/04/2019 09:37

I just checked my stats and apparently I lost 1.4 kg the week before last. I think that might explain the slight plateau-ing last week.

Weight loss is weird! Grin

DelphiMum · 08/04/2019 13:23

Keep going @crazzzycat a loss is a loss!

I’m down from 166lbs to 159.8lbs. I suspect most of that is water weight from the start of dieting. Nice to see 15something on the scale.

DH talking about take away burgers for dinner...

edwardson · 08/04/2019 13:26

Well done on the losses ladies! After a not-so-great end of week and a very very active Sunday have arrived at 9st13 - so lost 4 lbs! Think it might partly be because last week I weighed in the evening and this time in the morning but I'm counting it as a win and feeling good! Cake sale in work today, I'm trying my best to avoid the kitchen and the call of those brownies.... Smile

Mamimawr · 08/04/2019 14:21

Waw! Congratulations everyone! I lost 4.5 pounds in my first week. I'm pleased but aware that a lot of the weight is water and that I won't see a loss like that again!

Chocolatepeanuts · 08/04/2019 15:54

Hi everyone some great losses! I had 4lb off this morning but very much water weight. At least I'm back in the 12s. I rejoined slimming world (online) today and hope to keep up the gym as well. I always find the 2nd week tough to lose any! Good luck everyone!!

theedgeofthecloud · 08/04/2019 16:43

Hi everyone, well done on the losses, very motivational. Had a restrained weekend, no sugar, no alcohol and when I was out for dinner I had healthy soup as a starter and a starter portion as a main. I'm snacking on too many nuts and have done no exercise, but pleased to be thinking a bit more positively about healthy choices. Working from my parents' house today and have so far resisted the mountains of cakes of biscuits here. It's home-made (by DP Grin) veggie shepherds pie for tea.

Good luck everyone for a happy healthy week.

sazzle27 · 08/04/2019 17:23

Well done on the losses!

Am hoping to stick tomplan this week, but can feel a flu-cold-sore throat creeping.,.. and thatll either mean no appetite whatsoever, or major craves

aweedropofsancerre · 08/04/2019 22:08

well done everyone! I haven't weighed myself yet...had a little wine blip at the weekend but still kept calories down. 1400 today and trying to get from 12st 2 to around 11st 4....
