Half a stone off in March

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

Welcome Mercury have you done WW before or first time? How are you finding it so far? Are you managing any exercise?

Hi Singapore. I'm a serial Weight Watcher and have done it about 5 times in the last 12 years. When I had my 1st ds back in 2006 I managed to get to goal but I've never been as successful since. However, I'm 40 next year and had pre eclampsia and gestational diabetes in this pregnancy so need to make losing weight and getting healthy a priority. I haven't been exercising but I'm going to try to get out walking more this month. As I've joined online I need some accountability so hopefully this thread will help. I'm planning to read through it whilst ds4 naps. Looking forward to celebrating everyones successes.

@mercuryrising I have really found walking to be the one for me, it is a fat melter and never seems like a chore either. I used to dread the thought of working out (personally I gym) as I knew after 2/3 mins running on a treadmill I would be knackered then spend the next 35 minutes moping around the gym too tired to train.

Now I incline walk (albeit at high speeds etc) I am busy for the 60 minutes and am not only loosing weight but also can feel myself getting fitter. Like you I joined this group for the support and everyone is great.

Give the walking a bash fitting it in when you can and I'm sure you will see results :)

Hello everyone, welcome Mercury. It's been a bit of a weird day today. I went to my mum's and had some low-fat soup but then she bought me a maltesers Easter egg so I ate half of that. I've saved the other half and maltesers for the girls though. In penance and shame I came home and did the first day of 30-day shred. Grin However on logging it as I had scrambled eggs and mushrooms for breakfast and the low-fat soup for lunch I've still got 900 calories left today so not too bad.

MrsVoleTheVet · 06/03/2019 15:43

AmI 4am in the gym?? Crikey, what time do you go to bed??

MrsVoleTheVet · 06/03/2019 15:44

ThisOne... you stopped at half, that's willpower right there! I'm impressed. It looks like it's well within your calories anyway, and that shred video is haaaard!

MrsVoleTheVet · 06/03/2019 15:45

Funky.., that's frustrating for you , hope you feel better soon.

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 15:47

thisone I love that you ate an Easter egg on the first day of Lent Smile Well done on only eating half though, my problem is that once I get the taste, I know I end up having a bit more, a bit more until somehow it’s all disappeared.
We still had a tub of Quality Street left from Christmas, unopened - purely because we bought so many tubs in December, and it expires in April, so I’ve just given it to DDs teacher to put it in the staff room. So that’s my good deed for the day, and means it’s not in the house as a temptation.

OP posts:
thisonebreath · 06/03/2019 16:21

Ha, I didn't even give Lent a thought! I would usually eat it but deliberately left it on the side for the DDs to see and said they could have it... I'll never get my hands on it now. Grin

MrsVoleTheVet · 06/03/2019 18:25

I just filled in my MFP after dinner, and it turns out I blew my allowance utterly by accident.

It's all the grazing, which although little amounts has added up.

I just really like to eat all day. 😭

thisonebreath · 06/03/2019 18:28

Oh no #vole#. Would filling it in during the day help? It's the grazing that gets me as well. My meals are fine... But I could snack on toast and cake all day.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 06/03/2019 18:28

Just created a recipe in MFP I'm hoping to just creep in under my allowance but it'll be a tiny meal.

Not in a good head space. If I just manage to maintain that will be enough.

How's everyone else doing?

Ps. I won't be able to upload pictures on the android app. And Mumsnet mods say there's no plans to change that ☹️

thisonebreath · 06/03/2019 18:28

And I can't bold names either...

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 06/03/2019 18:29

MrsVole. Tomorrow is a new day x

thisonebreath · 06/03/2019 18:30

@Funky. I'm sure maintaining will be fine. Sorry you're not feeling good.

Chocolatecake12 · 06/03/2019 18:34

First few days have gone well boosted by the fact that I’ve given up chocolate for lent, today there was a huge box of chocs on my shared desk but my willpower was strong!
I agree thatxwalking helps - I’m not a a gym lover at all but I’m obsessed with doing my 10,000 steps each day! My Fitbit is my friend Smile

thisonebreath · 06/03/2019 18:38

Good on you, @Chocolate for resisting the err chocolate. I was thinking about getting a Fitbit. I don't really know anything about them - do they just count steps like the old style pedometer or do they do other things?

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 18:40

MrsVole oh no, how much over have you gone?

I’m just under the 1200 today. I had fruit and fibre cereal (kind of feel better skipping breakfast actually, it’s not worth the calories, just felt like I needed to have some milk really). Scrambled eggs for lunch. Spag bol for dinner. No snacks, apart from coffees. So that’s 3 days in a row without snacking. Little victories Grin

whatthefoxsaid · 06/03/2019 18:44

Sorry to those who have run out/gone over cals! Mfp used to drive me crazy, I got completely obsessed with food.
I don't think my new approach will necessarily work quickly but it is working, I'm 4lb down so far and managing to stick to it.
I'm yearning for some dessert so I'm taking myself off for a bath to distract from the chocolate in the fridge.

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 18:46

Funky is it your back getting you down? Maintaining is fine, what you don’t want is to throw in the towel completely. That’ll only make everything else worth. Try and remember why you’re doing this Flowers

OP posts:
FunkyBarnYardBroom · 06/03/2019 18:48

Mainly my back. I have other health issues which are unresolved. It's just everything you know?

I'm trying so hard not to give in but I'm finding it difficult.

I've also realised that unless I contact friends I don't hear from them. I think I'm just angry at life?

TheInvestigator · 06/03/2019 18:50

I've missed 9 pages!! Aaah!!
But very happy to see a thread for March.

I put pn 2lbs during our couple of weeks of hospital madness, but back to calorie cpunting now so hoping to get back on track. Ive let go of my aim to reach my goal by my 30th because 3.5lbs a week is too big an ask. Im going for 2lbs a week and I thinking giving myself longer will make it more likely that I will get there and more lilely to keep it off since i should get into a healthy eating pattern.

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 18:57

Funky it’s fine to have an ‘off’ day or two. We’ve all had blips for various reasons. But I’m sure you’ll feel differently in a few days and it would be a shame if you were then angry or disappointed in yourself for completely giving up. Tomorrow is a new day. See how you go.

I think the friend issue is common too, sometimes I go months without hearing from some friends and wonder if they’d ever contact me again if I didn’t make the effort. But also remember that everyone has their own stuff going on and it’s not personal. I’ve been so focussed on trying to lose weight since the start of the year that I’ve not made it a priority to see friends. If I’ve had a day to myself, instead of meeting for coffees I’ve used that time to go running, or been logging food or chatting on here, or shopping or whatever.

I hope you feel better in the morning.

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 19:01

Oh there you are TheInvestigator! Yes 3.5 lbs a week is loads.
Hope everything is back to normal now and good to see you back on it.

AmIWelcome · 06/03/2019 19:03

Keep your chin up Funky. In life there will be people queueing up to be hard on you so make sure your not part of that queue.

Have a blow out? Get back on it tomorrow Smile. Keep going!
