Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

Well done Frida, a pound is a pound!

Hello! Can I join? I was on another thread a while ago that petered out.

I lost a stone towards the end of last year and need some motivation to keep going.

I've not got loads to lose but have a desk job and am neatly 40 so if I'm not careful the weight creeps back on very easily.

Beer and wine are my downfalls - I do so much better then I'm off the booze!

VivaFrida · 06/03/2019 07:12

Thank you! It's actually 1.32377 pounds. That 0.3 more is Es-sen-rial! GrinGrin

Welcome kormagirl! I am totally ok with alcohol. My downfall is sugar and large portions.

Have a lovely day everyone

MrsVoleTheVet · 06/03/2019 07:15

Frida this is for you

Half a stone off in March
MrsVoleTheVet · 06/03/2019 07:16

Welcome Korma, I can relate to the almost 40 thing! Congrats on your progress so far :)

whatthefoxsaid · 06/03/2019 07:16

My downfall is sugar too Frida I find the afternoon really difficult. Up early with a toddler and the 3pm slump hits me hard!
I had a pancake with a smidge of Nutella, it was tasty but I'm glad I didn't have more!
I'm hoping to go to a swimming class before I pick DD up from nursery this afternoon but I have work to do too so will see how the morning pans out. I'd also have to brave my swimming costume Blush

VivaFrida · 06/03/2019 07:30

Thank you mrsvole! Thanks and forgot to say your comment WI = women's institute made me laugh. Smile

And fox yes! 3 pm is my witching hour too! But we can do this!! The less sugar we eat the less we will feel the cravings and I quite like substitutes like options sachets and choc shots.

Ok I am nearly at my destination now! See you all lovelies laters!

muddledmidget · 06/03/2019 07:41

Weighed in this morning at 11st8.75 so all of the holiday bloat has gone plus a bit more so feeling pretty good at the moment. Plan for this week is to continue as I am plus a couple of trips to the gym. It's a pretty busy week workwise so keeping busy will help, plus it's a different branch to normal so none of their snacks etc are fair game for me!

Hoping to be under 11st7 by next Wednesday

MeganChips · 06/03/2019 07:48

Morning all, I weighed in at 11st 11.5lbs so 2lbs off for me. I’m pretty pleased with that given I was away for 2 days last week so eating out and hotel breakfasts!

No travel for me this week so I’m aiming for 2.5 off, fingers crossed. It should help that DH has given up alcohol for lent which will reduce my intake too.

Today’s menu:

B: 2 hard boiled eggs
L: ham and asparagus salad
D: smoked haddock with spinach, a poached egg, tomatoes and broccoli.

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 07:59

Welcome Korma well done on the stone so far, that’s amazing. How did you manage it?

I am slightly worried that although I’m losing at a good rate (11lbs in 8.5 weeks) it’s taking me having less than 1200 kcals a day generally, plus doing some exercise. So once I hit my target and want to maintain it, I don’t think I’ll be able to up the calories by very much. I won’t suddenly be able to have the recommended 2000. I think that’s where I’ll struggle, as any little binge will make me gain again.

On the plus side, I’m weighing in today at 9st 13lbs so I’m determined to not creep up to the 10s again. I’ll weigh in officially again tomorrow as we’ll be a week into March.

Everyone feeling good working towards half a stone for the month?

Spicylolly · 06/03/2019 09:13

Everyone's doing so awesome!!!! Keep it up x

I'm day 5 of my 7 day fast, feeling awesome and another pound down. 12lb since last Thurs 😙
Generally not hungry but I'm roasting a chicken for my meal preps when the fast is over and the smell has started my stomach off, now I know how the dogs feel when I'm cooking food they aren't going to have haha 😆
Ordered 50 plastic takeaway tubs off amazon that are coming today so I'll be meal prepping like a demon later 👍

Crazzzycat · 06/03/2019 09:18

Singapore, it takes 3500 kcal to lose a pound. A 11 lbs loss = a whopping 38500 kcals, which works out as about 650 kcal a day.

So at the end of this, you should be able to increase you calories considerably. Not quite to 2000, but close Smile

Crazzzycat · 06/03/2019 09:26

Spicylolly congrats on that loss. Fasting sounds really hard, so you’re definitely earning your losses!

Well done Frida, Korma, muddlemidget, Megan* and anyone else I may have forgotten on your losses too!

I tried on an old pair of size 14 jeans yesterday. They haven’t fitted me for at least a year, may be even two, but now they do. It was a great boost in confidence!

Spicylolly · 06/03/2019 09:35

Thanks @crazzzycat it's been a lot easier than I thought to be honest!

Does anyone have a fitbit and fancy a challenge next week?
My user name is Gameface if anyone wants to add me 👍 love my fitbit haha

AmIWelcome · 06/03/2019 09:38

Well done guys, just remember that even 1mm forward is the same as 1mile it is all about commitment and progress!

Got to the gym early this morning (4am) to give me some more time and hit a PB on the treadmill of 860 calories in my 60 minute session which I was pretty happy with!

millionaireshortie · 06/03/2019 09:44

@SingaporeSlinky - you need to ignore the 'recommended' 2000 calories. A 5'7 teenage girl might be able to eat 2000 calories and not gain but a 5'3 40 year old won't be able to! Have you calculated your TDEE? Lots of calculators online and that will give you an accurate figure. I can't eat more than 1300 to maintain my weight based on the calculator and I've tried that out - it's true.

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 10:01

Thanks millionaire, just calculated my TDEE with current figures and it said 1648kcals so I guess it’ll be less once I’ve lost more weight.

shakeapoo · 06/03/2019 12:11

Well done everyone, keep going! I'm determined to keep in the green (Fitbit) zone for 2lb/week weight loss. On day 3 now and realised I'm not going to starve to death... who knew!

TickVG · 06/03/2019 12:19

Congrats to everyone - really good progress! I weighed in this morning- 10st 3.5lbs at one end of the bathroom and 10st 0.5lbs at the other end. Inclined to believe the higher figure - weighed myself fully clothed later in the morning on some other scales and was again 10st 3.5- so worst case I've stayed the same since Sunday which I'm happy with Smile

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 06/03/2019 13:14

@mrsvolethevet mine doesn't look like that at all. I'm on Android

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 06/03/2019 13:15

My back has been really bad. Sleeping and moving a lot less than usual and that's not much!

Feeling very down about it. Can't see me getting half a stone this month

SingaporeSlinky · 06/03/2019 13:39

Funky don’t lose heart, you don’t want to undo your hard work so far. Carry on making good food choices, and fingers crossed you feel better soon and start slow exercises soon.
Half a stone is a big target, but even 1 or 2 pounds is better than nothing!

OP posts:
whatthefoxsaid · 06/03/2019 14:00

I feel your pain funky I've got a terrible back too. Put off swimming as I have a physio appointment tomorrow. Trying to walk a bit more (slowly) but mainly doing this through food choices.

MercuryRising · 06/03/2019 14:01

A bit late, but I would love to join you. I weighed in at 13.9 on tge 1st March. Im 4 months post partum and have just restarted WW. I would love to get under 13st by April 1st but half a stone off would be amazing.
