Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

9st 10!! I’ve lost a stone, I can’t believe it!
It’s taken me 10 weeks and I wish I’d started sooner, so I didn’t pig out over Christmas (and the rest of December) but I’m proud of myself for sticking with it. I’m going to reset my goal again and keep going.

3lbs lost in January
6lbs lost in February
5lbs lost so far in March

@SingaporeSlinky

Yay!!! Well done!!! That's such a great milestone, good on you for sticking with it. And hey, you got to enjoy all the Christmas food and you've still got to this point so nothing to regret there!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 17/03/2019 10:49

Wooooo hoooooo!!!

SingaporeSlinky · 17/03/2019 10:59

Thank you!

STS this week :( I've only introduced resistance based workouts in the last 2 weeks though so my gym instructor said it could be a bit of water retention. I've lost an inch off my hips too.

I hate STS weeks with a passion, especially when you have turned down things like cake!

TickVG · 17/03/2019 12:16

Well done on reaching your goal singapore! That is fantastic- and particularly impressive that the rate of your weight loss seems to have increased as time has gone on when it will have been getting harder! cricketmum 1 inch off your hips is seriously impressive and I agree- the STS must definitely be down to water retention. Happy Sunday everyone. I'm back on track with keeping to my limits (hopefully). B: lean bacon, tomatoes, egg, half a freedom roll, L: skinny mushroom soup & half freedom roll, D: lamb curry

ZsaZsaMc · 17/03/2019 14:44

@Singaporeslinky that’s brilliant! What will your new goal be? And have people noticed a difference?

I read somewhere that it takes 4 weeks for you to start seeing the difference, 8 weeks for family and close friends and 12 weeks for acquaintances. It’s week 3 for me and I am starting to notice a difference (jeans aren’t desperately uncomfortable!) but it’s obviously not yet apparent to other people!

ZsaZsaMc · 17/03/2019 14:45

@cricketmum next week will probably reflect the hard work done this week! Usually at this point I’d succumb to the cake though

SingaporeSlinky · 17/03/2019 15:55

ZsaZsa thanks! Think new goal will be to get to 9st 5lbs.
I never thought that would have been possible when I was at 10st 10lbs

People have noticed, yes. I found the opposite in fact - people that hadn’t seen me while losing weight, noticed after half a stone, when I did then see them. People that saw me more regularly as I was losing weight, didn’t notice until a bit later. I guess it’s like kids getting older and taller isn’t it, if you don’t see them for 6 months you suddenly notice, but if you see them every day, you don’t notice until suddenly they need new clothes or something.
My DH said it’s more obvious now because I’m wearing smaller and tighter clothes, instead of baggy clothes to cover myself. I know I’m a dress size smaller, but at the same time, all I can see is my flabby tummy. I know it’s smaller and my old trousers were much looser before I bought a size down, but I sort of don’t feel any different. So I still have work to do in toning up.

Slinky, it's great to hear people are noticing. I'm looking forward to that!

I had such a tasty dinner tonight; bulgar wheat with roasted red pepper, garlic, feta cheese and pine nuts. It was amazing and I kept it to 280 calories.

Hit 1000 calories yesterday, and at 842 for today so will have a little snack later maybe but I'm pleased I kept it together over the weekend (and didn't even eat a chocolate frog).

whatthefoxsaid · 17/03/2019 20:32

I've had a lovely but disastrous weekend! It was a special occasion but the post-splurge guilt is setting in. Back on form tomorrow, finally have cash for groceries so I will stock up on healthy food!

cricketmum84 · 17/03/2019 20:52

@TheInvestigator that sounds absolutely gorgeous! I was full of good intentions to make something similar but with quinoa and roasted beetroot added for work lunches but just could not get my bum in gear so it's tinned soup tomorrow lol!

VivaFrida · 17/03/2019 20:54

Amazing results and great 'staying on plan' all around! Congrats to singapore and cricketmum for weight and inches losses!

zsazsa I am also at week 3 and, like you, I am starting to notice a difference, but the greatest difference so far is how I feel!

I am proud to say that I have dominated the weekend like an evil boss! Grin

I had a bit more pizza than planned yesterday (because with all that activity I was starving!) - three slices instead of two - all pointed and within budget; and today I did 1 hour 20 of hard work on the exercise bike and then a total of over 15,000 steps.

I am away from home for work and writing from my hotel, but I am determined to stay in plan also whilst away from my kitchen. I brought food for dinner and am also determined to keep the exercise up! Wish me luck!

VivaFrida · 17/03/2019 20:58

TheInvestigator roasted peppers and feta is an absolutely wonderful combination! Plus pine nuts... YUM!! That would also call for some fresh basil as well (but then I put fresh basil on almost everything).

VivaFrida · 17/03/2019 21:00

TickVG you have a turbo and I have an exercise bike! Do you do turn daily? I do bike every other day as try to alternate with the x-trainer. I really love the bike!

VivaFrida · 17/03/2019 21:00

*turbo

TickVG · 17/03/2019 21:46

Hi viva - I've only had the turbo trainer for a few months. DH bought it for my birthday but then after a few weeks it broke! Sad so we had to send it away for repair and it only arrived back on sat. Yeah I really enjoy it! It's so nice just to be able to hop on a bike whenever you want in the comfort of your home isn't it! Where do you have your bike set up? It was in the hall but I began to feel bad that it made the place look a total mess, so it's now in the spare room. I don't do it daily as too much cardio makes me hungry and reach for the carbs, which seems to slow my weightloss. I'm using the Zwift app and have restarted on a training prog which I need to do about 4x per week. I think alternating with your x trainer sounds really good as you get more of an all-round workout for your whole body. Mm I'm with you on fresh basil- makes me think of sunshine and holidays Smile

TheInvestigator · 18/03/2019 07:06

Weigh in today!
Last Monday I was 11st12
Today I am 11st6.75

Very pleased with that. I know it's going to get harder as it goes on so I'm glad to be losing a decent amount at the moment. Hoping for another good week and feeling motivated!!!

TheInvestigator · 18/03/2019 07:07

(Forgot to mention, I've just 3.74lbs to go to reach my first stone. That's my goal this week).

TheInvestigator · 18/03/2019 07:08

*3.75lbs

VivaFrida · 18/03/2019 07:58

TheInvestigator - that is super!! Well done!!

TickVG - I have a lean-to with a washing dryer, a spare fridge and 2 exercise machines and a treadmill in the garage (next to the lean to) - that means that I do exercise looking at a crumbling wall and a triangle of sky, a tiny corner of bush of the garden and the occasional visitation from spiders. Snazzy health club it ain't!! But it does the job!! Thank you for signalling the Swift app - I will look into that! My bike has 12 programmes (my favourite is interval) and I alternate them, I have found that at the moment I find it a lot easier mentally to do two 30 minutes programmes than 1x 60 minutes - I can haz short attention span!

This am I got up at 5.30 and exercised in my room for 30 minutes thanks to the Youtube videos... GROAN, I had to do the 'easier version' of every exercise because I am so flipping unfit and thanks to the mirrors I realised that for the first time in my life I have arm fat and when I move you can see cellulitis like formation on my arms. Aaaaaaargh!!!

But

Yo know, instead of beating myself up for it I am trying to take it positively - I am doing it, I am transforming this body that, through stress and grief, I have abused for the past 5 years. I am reclaiming my old self. I can do this, we can do this!!

VivaFrida · 18/03/2019 08:01

TickVG it's funny how we are all different, for you it's too much cardio that makes you hungry, for me it's weights and swimming! Cardio regulates my appetite because it directresses me, my hunger is principally head hunger, stress hunger, 'I want a serotonin fix now because my life is shite' hunger.

VivaFrida · 18/03/2019 08:02

*de-stresses me - autocorrect blunder. sorry.

Japonicaflower2 · 18/03/2019 08:08

Hello everyone, tubby lurker here!
Can anyone tell me how to lose weight when a heart condition rules out exercise other than very short walks and medication that leads to weight gain? I've put on a stone in 9 months and feel permanently bloated 😢
I'm not permitted a high fat diet nor can I have more than 1 litre of liquid per day. I am short of breath much of the time, GP is monitoring.
Any suggestions very much appreciated, thank you.

ZsaZsaMc · 18/03/2019 08:42

Hi Japonica - if it helps I’ve read that losing weight is 90% diet and only 10% exercise (although I think exercise helps a bit more than that as you don’t want to undo your good work!)
