Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

@pepguardi assuming not, but did you move the scales at all? That can have massive difference. Same with posture, mines likes me standing straight up.

TickVG · 15/03/2019 07:12

Sorry to hear about your stressful fay 999 but well done for resisting the junk, that is no mean feat! pepguardi this may be a silly q but have you fully followed your scales' instructions for calibration (assuming they're digital) and are they on the flattest surface possible? Mine were varying between a range of about 3lbs then I started waiting longer for calibration before stepping and also checked the accuracy by putting some 5kg weights on the scales to see if they came out as that on the scales

TheInvestigator · 15/03/2019 07:21

999, that sounds rubbish! Your colleagues actually sound a bit mean... But good on you for rising above and also not eating to cheer yourself up! That's the hardest thing when you're feeling down.

I weighed in at 11st 8.75 this morning. This is officially the lightest I have been in 3 years.

pepguardi · 15/03/2019 07:43

@999caffeineplease I make a point of placing them on the SAME bathroom tile every time 🙈🙈

pepguardi · 15/03/2019 07:43

Thanks @TickVG I'm not sure that's the issue as they've been fine until this point. Maybe I'll try the kitchen floor instead of the bathroom tiles!

999caffeineplease · 15/03/2019 08:02

Honestly sometimes I feel I’m back in high school surrounded by teenage girls! Ah well.

@pepguardi hmm that’s so strange. Definitely try the calibration thing, or changing the batteries, and if that doesn’t work, choose the lowest weight Grin

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 15/03/2019 09:00

I'm going to Tesco after work if I can find a 50p for the machine. And then changing my batteries 😂 I am suspicious of the readings again

Faultymain5 · 15/03/2019 09:22

Well two weeks into March and I've been ill for 4 weeks, so diet (fasting) and exercise (6 x pw) has not happened for a month (other than light yoga). I'm feeling well enough to get back on it from tomorrow so. Starting weight is 9st 13 3/4

Crazzzycat · 15/03/2019 12:42

Weighed myself this morning and I’ve lost 4lbs this month. Not bad at all, except that I lost more than 3 of those in the first week. So recent weight loss has been pretty slow.

In more exciting news, after more than 10 weeks of dieting, I bought myself some new, smaller size clothes and it all fits comfortably! Smile

I’m planning to ceremoniously throw away my size 16 jeans later today. I’ve promised myself I will never ever go back there again!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 15/03/2019 13:31

Yay for the clothes!! Well done.

I'm still in 16s which are baggy now but 14s still a little uncomfortable. I carry most weight on belly thighs and arms. But I can now fasten them!

There's a Fitbit group if anyone wants to join? MN Dieters is the name 😁

pepguardi · 15/03/2019 14:33

I find progress photos to be helpful as well as the obvious clothes size changes

Crazzzycat · 15/03/2019 14:55

pepguardi That’s very true. I had to diet for ten weeks before I could fit into a smaller size, so while it’s obviously great, it’s not the best thing to use for long term motivation. Progress pictures are a great idea!

Funkybarn I’ll check out that Fitbit group. My motivation to exercise has gone out of the window with this recent bad weather. I really need to get back on track urgently

VivaFrida · 15/03/2019 15:02

Hiya all. Congrats to those moving on to smaller sizes! You are doing great!

I am still on bigger size as only started 2.5 weeks ago (lost 1.9kg so far, 4.1 pounds) but the difference within myself is already great. Yesterday I wore a dress that I have been previously discarded because it would make me feel too chubster. I am still a chubster but a happier chubster so was glad to wear it and did actually feel good in it.

Sorry to hear about your work environment 999 - colleagues are a big part of the job aren't they - hopefully you'll go to a better place soon after graduation.

Well done TheInvestigator and funky for staying within calories budget!

I am delighted to report that last night I met with a friend in a pub and I drank... two bottles of sparkling water!! Visited the loo quite often, but apart from that, no problem at all, really giving up alcohol is not at all an effort for me. I wish I had the similar attitude to cakes! Having said that, and I know it's early days, but I have been remarkably off the sugar in the past week, long may it continue.

Today, I am working from home but I have so much to sort out that, even if I got up at 6.30 (and exercised one hour), as soon as I opened my email it was boom-boom-boom, one unexploded bomb after the other with work and literally I had just finished lunch and skipped breakfast.

I had: omelette with 2 eggs, few drops of olive oil, mushrooms, steamed broccoli and one orange.

Have a lovely weekend, all Flowers Flowers Flowers

TheInvestigator · 15/03/2019 18:05

Well done Viva! I'm still trying to kick the sugar thing. But I've improved. I now only have 10ml of vanilla syrup in my cappuccino when I used to have 30ml. And I bought brown sugar cubes so that when I have sugar instead of syrup, I just use one 5g cube. I've stuck to that, but don't think I will ever go sugar free sadly.

For anyone who was looking for a lighter alternative to a biscuit, have you tried these?
www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/277552596

They are 31 calories each. Just a small chocolate water, but great for just a tiny bite of chocolateyness. It would be easy to eat the whole packet so just beware!

SingaporeSlinky · 15/03/2019 18:49

Weighing in halfway through March at 9st 11 so 4lbs down but nothing in the last week as I’ve been a bit up and down. Period made me go temporarily up 2lbs, I ate loads the last few days, haven’t exercised much either. Hoping for a strong weekend, I’m opposite most of you in that I seem to be stricter at the weekend, and I must, must, must have a good week anext week as my holiday is getting closer and closer.

Well done everyone for sticking in there. This thread is so busy which is great but then when you are not around for a couple of days there are pages to catch up on!

I had a really lovely meal with lots of extended family last night. I didn't eat all day and the only calories I had before going to Mum's was a Costa latte from the petrol station on my way to work. I had intended on a soup for lunch but work was just so busy it was gone 2 by the time I could of stopped and by then I just thought I may as well wait and have all my calories that night. I resisted all puddings but had wine instead Grin

Have been pretty much on track today and no Friday night drinks so even with an up and down week so far hopefully I will still be on track for a small loss this week.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 16/03/2019 11:33

Size 14 jeans fit. I repeat. Size 14 jeans fit Shock

VivaFrida · 16/03/2019 11:52

we-hey FunkyBarnYardBroom! StarStarStarStarStar

TheInvestigator · 16/03/2019 11:55

Woohoo funky!!! Hope you're feeling great because that's fantastic!!!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 16/03/2019 11:56

I couldn't get them on in Feb.

Two weeks ago I could do them up but mega tight and muffin top!

Today no side muffin but a small mum tum. Baggy jumper it is then!

VivaFrida · 16/03/2019 12:08

How's everyone's Saturday going?

Like SingaporeSlinky I also find weekends easier because I haven't got the stress of work taking me to overeat (I am working on controlling this); however my family has planned Domino's tonight so it's going to be a little challenge, I am arranging the day to have enough points left for 2 slices of veggie pizza tonight.

So that's how my Saturday looks like:

up and tea 6.30
exercise 7-8
shower, more tea, faffing 8-9
breakfast with DaFam 9.30
cleaned house with DaFam Team 10-11.45
chillaxing on Mumsnet & faff 12-12.30 (that's where I am now... aaah...)
walking to massage 12.30-1.00
massage 1-2
faffing in town 2-3
meeting DH & friends in pub (drinking water for me! but I don't really care, no alcohol is never a problem) 3-5
walking to bowling 5-5.30
bowling with DaFam 5-6.00
walking home 6-6.30
domino's with DaFam 7-7.30ish
feet up rest of the evening! Maybe film or catching up with murderous programmes on Ntflx/iplayer

Have a good day all!

TheInvestigator · 16/03/2019 12:27

Viva, can we swap days!! Yours looks like such a nice Saturday!! And enjoy the dominos.... cheesey goodness!!

I'm going to struggle today. Yesterday got away from me as I ended up with a pile of work to do despite being 'off' and by evening I realised I'd only eaten 504 calories. That happens a lot when I get caught up with work, and usually I would then eat junk because I'd be too tired to cook and craving rubbish food. Instead, I just want to bed, so I'm hungry today and will need to make sure I don't slip into the old habit of eating rubbish because I'm hungry.

Had my usual cappuccino for breakfast. Cooked up the last leftover quesadilla for lunch but didn't have any of the stuff on the side so I'm at 572 calories which leaves enough for dinner and fruit/veg snack.

Now just to entertain the kids whilst making more chocolate frogs for the Harry potter fest we've planned tonight... And I must not eat the chocolate frogs (but I didn't lick the melted chocolate off the spoon when I was finished with it).

TheInvestigator · 16/03/2019 12:48

I just realised I did something really stupid!!!

The quesadilla kit I used is 292cals for a quarter of the pack, which is 2 tortillas plus a quarter of the salsa and spice mix. I had 2 on Thursday night (I weighed the chicken and cheese separately and divided into 8 portions and divided the salsa into 8 portions and then made 8 quesidllas). So 2 of them would be 292 calories plus the chicken and cheese calories. But I put it in my food diary as 2 servings.... So 2 x 292!!! That would be four!!!

So I've taken one serving out of the diary from Thursday (didn't change the chicken or cheese as I'd put in the calories for 2 portions of each) and that means I only had 895 calories on Thursday and today I only had 1 quesadilla so I'm on 426!!

Sorry for the long, pointless rant. I'm just annoyed at my stupidity!!

cricketmum84 · 16/03/2019 14:26

That sounds like a busy Saturday!

I slept late, skipped the gym as my sciatica is killing from standing in the cold at the rugby last night.

Been for my cello lesson, I have a really difficult new piece to learn for my exam so I've set aside 2 hours this afternoon to really get my head into learning it!

Haven't actually eaten yet as we then went and did food shopping but I'm going to snack on some grapes to put me on before I do a home made Chinese for the family tonight!

Booked in for my review at the gym tomorrow morning so will update then with weight and inch loss from my first two weeks!

TickVG · 16/03/2019 19:33

Well done to all- sounds like people are managing to be really disciplined this weekend! I've had a bit of a full-on one. Had DPs and DPILs visiting to watch DD4 performing in a show at a theatre which was lovely but all a bit of a stress, esp around logistics! Plus DMIL is a bit of a feeder and always brings at least 2 sugar laden puddings which I found it hard to control myself around. Plus we ate our after the show for lunch. So I was on 2000cal at close yesterday and expect to be similar today. But it's still
Much better than the sorts of weekend binges I used to have....plus my turbo trainer (a machine that turns my road bike into a static exercise bike and transports me into a virtual world of real cyclists via my iPad) came back from the repair shop today after having gone kaput. So enjoying getting back into that again. Now basking in the quiet and calm of the evening feed with DS and planning out what I can have for my tea within a fairly small calorie allowance! Poor old DD was a bit overwhelmed by the whole day and has developed a slight temp which I'm hoping she'll have recovered from by mon. Have a lovely evening everyone Smile
