Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

Morning all and welcome pepguardi .Funky I don't think we should beat ourselves up for every little treat - it all becomes a bit joyless otherwise and we're probably more likely to give up. I had a couple of mini flapjacks last night - which was quite restrained for a Friday night. Grin

Day 4 of shred done and it's a lovely day so I'm off out walking later. Have a great day everyone.

TickVG · 09/03/2019 10:48

Good morning! Hi pepguardi- welcome! I went 300cal over limit yesterday....felt a bit bad as I'm also having a takeaway curry with DH tonight. BUT these amazing posh Belgian chocolate truffles we got bought had been staring at me for nearly a week and they were soooo nice and I had to stop DH having all the nice ones. I also had a fizzy wine with DH to wind down with him after a tough week at work. All in all it was worth it Smileand have just been for a run to make the most of the sunshine while it's still here. Being reasonably good today- 2egg&cheese omelette for breakfast, Mexican bean soup for lunch, toasted sandwich thin plus raspberries for planned snacks. leaves me about 800 for curry, which might be possible but it's going to have to be a guesstimate in any case.Thinking maybe tandoori chicken with some kind of chickpea/lentil side. And see if I can hold out and not have rice.....

VivaFrida · 09/03/2019 11:58

FunkyBarnYardBroom I am sorry you have been feeling rubbish and taking it on the fruit pastilles. We have all been there! If I could suggest something, perhaps do not see exercise as 'penance' but as something you do for you to enhance your life! I know it's hard if you don't like it and sending you lots of positive vibes and may The Force be with you! Star

pepguardi sorry for typo in my previous message - I meant 'not long to go' -sorry, I should really read and edit my messages.

Hello MegBusset ! Periods are so frustrating! Roar! I had mine just at the end of my first week! Have you still got much to lose?

Crazzzycat that's a very good strategy to have more than one set for measuring progress not just depending on the scale, what WW calls 'Non scale victory' (NVS).

How did the drinks go ZsaZsaMc?

AmIWelcome congratulations on your weight loss, what is your target weight?

TickVG God quality truffles are ir-re-sis-tible!! I like hotel chocolat's Going Nuts.

My day so far is going well, done 1 hour on the fake bike, 2 x 32 minutes sets (so 1 hour 4 to be exact), quite hard ones, one interval and the second hit climb, a total of almost exactly 20km. My calorie counter on the bike says something crazy like 900+ but I totally don't believe it. I believe the distance (within reason) because I know I do about 20km/h with the real bike, however these measurements matter relatively, the important thing is that I have exercised at decent pace for just over one hour.

Then I had breakfast (20gr porridge, 85 gr greek zero percent yogurt, one mini banana and some grapes) and with Mr. Frida and Master Frida we cleaned our house top to bottom! So now it's not even 12 and I find myself free as a bird and having achieved exercise and house cleaning! I am going to have tea and check weight loss resources to chillax. No tricky plans this weekend because DH is ill with manflu a cold so no temptations to go out for meals, etc.

Ablemaybel · 09/03/2019 12:11

Know in a bit late, but can I join please?

Was doing really well up until Christmas (low carb), but have fallen off the wagon big time.

Weighed in at 10st 10lb this morning, ideally want to get down to 9st 8lb before my birthday at the end of May.

SingaporeSlinky · 09/03/2019 13:09

Finally set up my Wii Fit this morning and when I weighed in, it said I’ve lost 1st 3lbs since I last used it (about 10 years ago!) and my BMI has gone from ‘overweight’ to ‘ideal’ Smile
I’m 1lb away from losing a stone since starting trying to lose weight in January and feeling very motivated! I’ve enjoyed a hot cross bun for lunch the last few days, but well within calories every day. Going to have a play on the Wii this week, I know the hula is fun and yet tiring.

Aaargh, rookie error - check points value FIRST, eat AFTER.

I ate 30 gr of nuts as a snack thinking that it would be 2/3 points at a push and it was 5 - !!!! - and more - !!!!!!! -

Now I have only 7 points for dinner - we have planned skinny burgers and skinny chips with salad and light mayo, for a total of 9 points but I am afraid it's going to be skinny burger, salad, no chips and no light mayo for me as I have wasted my allowance on a few nuts.

Well, ok, I shall take it as a lesson to check points value FIRST, eat AFTER.

Studentnursesos12e · 09/03/2019 18:32

Hope you don't mind a newbie

I rejoined SW monday, which will be weigh day.

I'd love to lose half a stone in march (then half in april and half in may😂)

Sw 12st3.5 target 10st

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 09/03/2019 18:48

Thanks Viva. I shall try. Just no idea why I ate 12!!!

Did some light gardening in-between rain showers. Back is starting to ease off.

And DP has been home all day so the loneliness is easing

How's everyone's Saturday?

And hello to our newest member!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 09/03/2019 18:57

Student I started at 12st 3lb on 9th Feb

I'm now 11st 9lbs

You can do this x

SingaporeSlinky · 09/03/2019 19:04

Welcome new joiners!

I tried on my swimming costumes and bikinis for holiday today, wasn’t a pretty sight Blush
Nearly a stone lighter, but still wobbly in the tummy and thighs. I’m doing well in reducing my portions and general calorie intake, but clearly not enough exercise to tone up. Only 3 weeks left. I started this week well, had a busy few days towards the end so only managed 1 run, 1 exercise dvd and then walking every day. I’ll have to do at least 4 sessions for the next few weeks.

onemorerose · 09/03/2019 19:28

Can I join? Currently 10 stone 12 and I’d really like to lose half a stone by the end of the month.

I’m using mfp, doing a couple of workouts a week and 10k steps a day.

I’m sorry I’ve only read the first couple of pages but to those using mfp, are you weighing everything? I’m not weighing just guessing. Has anyone recommendations for decent scales? The ones I have at the moment are not that reliable.

SingaporeSlinky · 09/03/2019 19:34

Welcome onemore yes I’m on MFP and at the moment I’m still weighing everything. If I log a food and it’s one I’ve logged before, I’m a bit more relaxed and add the same weight as before, but I check now and again to make sure my portion sizes aren’t creeping up. I’ve been using it for about 5 or 6 weeks now.

OP posts:
onemorerose · 09/03/2019 19:44

Thanks SingaporeSlinky, from what I’ve read it’s working for you, well done!! I usually go for the highest estimate and have lost a few pounds already on it before I discovered this thread. I’ll try to start weighing.

Last night I had a chinese and on those days I don’t even bother trying to calculate the calories. I’ll just eat the bare minimum all day apart from that and hope for the best.

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 09/03/2019 19:50

Hi all new to this group, but just want to say well done to you all for reaching towards your goals, ive been healthy eating and using mfp for he past 2 weeks and have just jumped on the scales and I have lost 7kg! Is this normal I'm very overweight and have been taking alli also to help me along but I'm shocked that in 2 weeks I've lost 7kg /15 pounds....I'm finding my reduced calories easy and any good now that has the slight bit of grease makes me feel sick, bit have found a new love for grilled salmon with mixed veg.

onemorerose · 09/03/2019 20:11

Hi purple, I’ve just joined as well but 7kg is amazing in two weeks. Well done! What is alli? I’ve never heard of it, how does it help you along?

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 09/03/2019 20:27

Hi one more, thank you I'm very impressed with the results and it's changed my eating habits also. Alli is a weight loss tablet to help you lose weight but you have to follow a low calorie diet and take it when you eat a meal with fat in but can only take if there's more than 15grams of fat, but it can have some awful side effects if not followed properly by what I've read, I actually use a chemists own version called orlos by Lloyds as it's half the price of alli but the same ingredient orlistat, but on the packaging it's alli trademarked Confused, I'm finding it a lot easier as normally I would of crashed and eaten crap but this time I'm sticking to it and working out at home too embarrassed to go out to do it and using my fitness pal and a low calorie diet...how's YOUR healthy eating going?

onemorerose · 09/03/2019 21:29

Thanks I’ll check it out. Generally just eating the same without snacks and wine but restricting myself if I’ve unhealthy eating planned for later that day

ZsaZsaMc · 09/03/2019 22:01

viva I know what you mean about checking the points! I merrily ate half an avocado the other day and was shocked it was 5 points...

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 10/03/2019 09:17

MFP won't let me complete my diary. Says there's a server problem.

My 29 day streak is over 😖

Anyone else having issues?

TickVG · 10/03/2019 09:52

I haven't but on my news feed it says you have logged in for 30 days in a row so maybe it's just temporary glitch?

thisonebreath · 10/03/2019 10:25

I've been able to log my breakfast this morning.

Hello new people. Purple well done on the weight loss so far.

One more I'm not weighing my food at the moment as I don't have appropriate scales. My main problem is that I've spent the winter eating cake and chocolate because I've been breastfeeding. 😁 So I'm cutting all of that out and having healthy snacks instead. My meals are usually healthy things, I'm just having slightly smaller portions.

I haven't done the shred this morning because I was awake at 6:30 with the baby - so at 8 I handed her over to DH and went back to sleep for an hour and 45 minutes. I think that's done me a world of good!

She's currently asleep on me and now the kids have got the telly and we've got people coming round later so I'll probably leave it for today. It's sunny here but really really windy. I may go for a walk, will see, I don't want to get blown away!

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Ablemaybel · 10/03/2019 11:04

Hi all, not sure if you're all following the same eating plan?

I'm following a low carb, moderate fat plan and only eat when I'm hungry. I tend to skip breakfast and just have a bullet proof coffee. For brunch yesterday I had three eggs scrambled, bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes all fried in olive oil and butter. For dinner I had steak with baby spinach, again both pan fried in butter and olive oil.
For brunch today, am going to make an omelette with ham, cheese and rest of mushrooms with salad.

I got an Alexa for Christmas and have just started following the body expert HI workout. Will try and do it at least five times each week.

I see many of you use My Fitness Pal. I'm new to this, is it good for recording what you eat/calorie intake?

thisonebreath · 10/03/2019 11:14

Hello Able We're following different plans but I think most of us are using mfp. I find it really helpful as I am prone to snacking on junk - logging throughout the day helps stop that as I can see how much it'll raise my calorie intake. It's a bit like having to report to someone -I don't want to have to report I just scarfed down a family size bar of chocolate.Grin

VivaFrida · 10/03/2019 15:22

Welcome to Ablemaybel, Studentnursesos12e, onemorerose & any other new person that have missed and huge hi to all!

Very windy in the SE of England today & I had a very active day:

60 minutes on the x-trainer (such a hard machine, my x-trainer, it's only a cheap one and a huge effort is needed to make it move compared to the sleek machines in gyms - the upside is that I get super workout on it! My fringe was soaked with perspiration today). Halo

Then I had a long walk after breakfast for about 10,000 steps. Halo

I love the weekends, I find it so easy to eat well and do lots of exercise then. If i did not have to work I'd be slender without a problem, it's the work stress that does it for me Confused Confused Confused.

Ablemaybel I follow an old weight watcher plan with an app called Ultimate Food Diary - basically it's restricting calories and especially restricting carbs and fat - but quite a bit more carbs-friendly than most diets. For instance, today I had pasta for lunch, albeit a small portion.

Ablemaybel · 10/03/2019 17:00

Thanks thisonebreath think I'll try mfp.

Off to my daughter's for Sunday dinner, will try and be good!
