Half a stone off in March

SingaporeSlinky · 01/03/2019 09:03

Carrying on from the February thread and new joiners welcome, fresh slate for March!

I’ve weighed in today at 10st 1lb so I’m determined to at the very least get down to 9-something this month! Ideally the half stone by the end of March when I go on holiday. Who’s in?

AmIWelcome · 07/03/2019 12:18

Just water for 7 days? My word that is dedicated!

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 07/03/2019 12:21

I shall weigh in after work this afternoon but not feeling as though I'll see a change!

I will keep plodding on. Was hoping for a walk in my lunch break but it's raining and very windy. I have to sit on a reception desk so can't look windswept and wet 🥴.

Well done for the losses 7 days in. You're awesome x

whatthefoxsaid · 07/03/2019 13:01

I started on 25th Feb technically, but I've lost 4lb so far. I don't weigh daily but do have a sneaky peek during the week, it usually keeps me on track or forces me to up my game.
Weather is so rubbish, I couldn't face salad for lunch so I've had porridge and a banana. Got some pineapple for later on/dessert, I think we're having fajitas for dinner.

Spicylolly · 07/03/2019 13:21

Fasting ends tomorrow, I've got homemade chicken broth ready for the 're-feed' but I'm tempted to keep going but I need to look into that more as I only researched 7 day fasting.

I'm SUPER overweight so my body has plenty of fat stores to live off 👍

Spicylolly · 07/03/2019 13:23

If I don't carry on fasting I'll be sticking to clean eating as I'll now be in ketosis.

ZsaZsaMc · 07/03/2019 18:44

Waiting for DH to come home so we can have dinner. DESPERATELY TRYING NOT TO SNACK

TickVG · 07/03/2019 18:47

Can anyone recommend good meals or snacks that help you feel full for a long time and yet are low cal? Looking for inspiration!

TheInvestigator · 07/03/2019 18:51

I love watermelon for snacking. It's low cal and really tasty, and it fills me up but that part is debatable!!
Also, a rye crispbread with a smearing of low fat cream cheese is tasty and filling and add a fibre to your diet!

TheInvestigator · 07/03/2019 18:52

ZsaZsaMc - you can do it!!!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 07/03/2019 19:15

Just catching up with the last few days, great work all!

Was feeling tired and hungry when I got home and really tempted to over eat and to buy a bottle of wine but have managed to resist so far.

Have eaten 700 cals today including the 2 bar kit Kat when I got in. Dinner will be veg lasagne with lots of side veggies so about 400. Not planning on any exercise tonight as too knackered. I swam 40 lengths last night and did Body Attack on Monday night so doing ok on that front.

Not weighing in today as I started on 26th Feb so a bit randomly my weekly weigh in is Tues!

TickVG a fairly low cal but filling meal I had today at work was cauliflower rice in a pouch and a lentil curry in a pouch so both easily microwaveable. I had the whole pouch of curry instead of the suggested half and it was slightly over 200 cals for the lot. Also had a skyr yoghurt so a pretty good lunch really.

Reading through has been very motivational so perhaps I'll have an early night rather than half a bottle of wine!!!!

ZsaZsaMc · 07/03/2019 19:22

Adventure I’m weighing in on Tuesday randomly as well! Gives me a Monday to correct any weekend excess.

Also i sometimes have to go upstairs to avoid snacking in front of the tv - reading a book has no snacking associations!

tick i’m having mussels tonight which are quite low cal I think and I find them filling

TickVG · 07/03/2019 19:23

Thanks investigator watermelon is a great idea- I'll pick some up. And lentil curry also great Adventure - I'm a big fan of both! What brand are your pouches?

thisonebreath · 07/03/2019 19:58

Watermelon sounds a great idea. I've had carrots and cream cheese or apple and peanut butter as snacks. I think nuts are good in general as they're quite filling.

I've had a good day today. I've reset my allowance to 1200 but worked out I can add breastfeeding as a food and it will add the calories back in. I've eaten 1112 today and have 380 left! I had porridge for breakfast, I met a friend for lunch and had a prawn on brown bread sandwich and some sweet potato fries, homemade beef stew and dumplings and for snacks some peanuts. I also did 30 day shred day two and a 30 minute walk.

How is everyone else?

shakeapoo · 07/03/2019 20:21

Did you know you get also get watermelon seeds to snack on?

Half a stone off in March
GreyGardens88 · 07/03/2019 20:26

I found some ice cream lollys in sainsburies, only 32 calories per one, so i have one or two of those in the evening to help with the snacking.

MrsVoleTheVet · 07/03/2019 20:52

Well done and thanks for the inspiration everyone!

I wimped out of my run today because it was so cold and windy but otherwise I've done alright, I managed not to graze all day, unlike yesterday!

Adding to the good snack ideas, I like carrots, quite satisfying to crunch away. Also pickled onions with a cracker or oatcake. They make it more substantial, and seem to hit the spot if you really wanted crisps!

Also an apple in the microwave with a bit of Greek yoghurt and a sprinkle or cinnamon feels like a pudding, but comes in low on the calorie front.

TickVG · 07/03/2019 20:53

Ooh good suggestions thanks guys. Great ideas I hadn't considered- how do you serve your mussels zsazsa? Watermelon seeds sound intriguing! And I'm v interested in adding BFing in MFP- Had no idea that was a thing!

thisonebreath · 07/03/2019 21:25

Tick I saw someone mention it on the mfp forums. Just type breastfeeding into food and search. There's a 250 or a 500 option, I've gone for the 500 because although she's eating some bits of food she hasn't dropped any feeds yet.

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 08/03/2019 07:23

Hurrah. 11st 9lbs today

SongforSal · 08/03/2019 07:26

Can I join?

Spending tonight putting together my new exercise bike. I haven't weighed myself in years. 5'6'' and a size 14 in clothes .

MrsVoleTheVet · 08/03/2019 08:11

I've weighed twice three times this week. First and third were precisely the same 😳

Trying to remember a downward trend graph might have little ups in it as well.

Today I really will not snack!

MrsVoleTheVet · 08/03/2019 08:13

Hello Sal!

An exercise bike sounds good! You're obviously feeling motivated if you just bought it!

thisonebreath · 08/03/2019 08:45

Morning all. Porridge for breakfast and day 3 of shred done. DH works from home on Fridays so I needed to get it done before he gets on the phone. I don't want all his colleagues hearing me huffing and puffing in the background!

SingaporeSlinky · 08/03/2019 09:01

Well done Funky

MrsVole yes my progress line on MFP is definitely not straight down, some weeks I stayed the same, some I put 1lb on for a few days, then lost 2, so long as the general line is down you’re doing well!

I’m down another 1lb to 9st 11 but that sneaky 3/4 at the end means I won’t bank it just yet. I gave in yesterday and had some chocolate in the morning and crisps in the afternoon and so for dinner I made up for it by just having a big bowl of raspberries and blueberries. I don’t even know why I had them, I did enjoy the chocolate to be fair, but I do find that if I have one snack, I end up wanting more, which is of course where the bad habits come in. It must be sugar addiction. It’s so much easier to just not have snacks at all. The days where I’ve had none, I’ve found I thought about food less, I felt better, I obviously had no guilt, I felt good about my willpower. Today will be better.

Good morning all, I am really enjoying the snacks idea: keep 'em coming!

For those who like apple & yogurt like msrvole apples roasted in the oven for one hour turn into something totally delicious, you can take the core out (or just put them in as they are, as I do), add a little cinnamon, and then ZAP in the oven at 180 degrees, gas mark five until they are ready. Depending on your oven may take 45 min-1 hour. I normally do a few apps at the time as they keep for a few days in the fridge when cooked.

whatthefoxsaid 4 lbs since 25 Feb, that's awesome, well done.

And oh my word Spicylolly five, six days only on water - well done you! I have done only a little bit of fasting when I was doing a lot of Yoga, for spiritual reasons and there is something really nice about it.

waves at ZsaZsaMc, TickVG, theinvestigator, amIwelcome, SingaporeSlinky, AdventureTravelDreamer and thisonebreath (hope I haven't forgotten anyone) how are you all doing today?

SongforSal - I have an exercise bike too, known as 'the fake bike' - I love it! The great thing about it is that it's low impact so I can do it every day.

So, moi.

Exercise: 45 minutes on x-trainer (in home gym - actually to call it a 'home gym' is slightly aspirational, is a dusty and damp lean-to with a washing machine, recycling bin and an exercise bike and a cross trainer. I also have a treadmill in the garage - not a snazzy health club but it does the job!).

This is the longest session I have done in the x-trainer for a while so chuffed with myself today! Then I did 10 flights of stairs (I am doing a stairs challenge).

Food: breakfast, 84 gr zero percent Greek yogurt (the really lovely original kind, not the Aldi imitation that I normally buy), 2 baked apples with cinnamon, 20 gr of porridge, 3 points out of my daily 23.

Back to work now, have a great day all!
