Shall we start this new thread with weight lost? Sure! It's always good to start on a motivational note. So, please, briefly post your loses to date, and if you wouldn't mind, include the amount of time, so far...

ya! a new thread!

well done hercules!!
enjoy the new you...

i had my weigh in today...
4 off this week, which makes a total of 22 lbs in 3 weeks! wahey!

goal for this week is a little high, but i can be hopeful right? i wanna get to the 2nd stone off, so i'm working really really hard to lost 6 lbs.

also, ginger, your first week will almost always be the best and most weight loss. i lost a stone the first week, and 4 pounds each following week. you should always look at the brighter side of it: it may only be 4 poinds and nothing in comparison the the stone i lost in the first week, but i know that it would take me 2 weeks to lose that if not more on any other diet. its going to take a little time, just keep at it nd be patient! each week and day will be different!

hope everyone is doing fine! ((i havent posted here lately as i've been spending all my time on minimins writing in my weight loss diary! ((you get loads of support and i would recommend it to anyone...))
here's the link to my diary: CLICKHERE

snowwonder · 10/07/2007 16:17

day 1 here for me, (i couldnt start last week due to illness )
start weight 15.10

so far so good,

,my counsellor told me to drink 2 l of water and thats what it says on the back of pack. but on mimimins they seem to drink 4 L

what does everyone drink?

SpookyMadMummy · 10/07/2007 16:34

Hi Snow wonder
Afaik the minimum for SS is 2 1/4 litres, I drink that not much more. Some people seem to be able to drink masses of water but it makes me uncomfortable.
If I were you, I would find the level YOU are comfortable with, obv. sticking to minimum requirement.
good luck!

nails · 11/07/2007 18:18

Hi
I'm quite new to mn and came across a link to this thread. I must say I feel extremely motivated by your posts about the CD. If someone wouldn't mind could you please tell me more about it, would you recommend seeing a CDC? Where do you find them? How do you go back to eating 'normally'?
I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to lose weight and have been feeling very low about it. After reading this thread I feel really inspired, you all sound like you're doing fantastically.
Sorry for so many questions, I hope to join you soon.

nails · 11/07/2007 18:20

Sorry, meant to ask as well, how much roughly is it?
Thanks

parceltongueisnotgibberish · 11/07/2007 18:23

Munkibaby you are doing so so well!

notquitesobigfatmummy · 11/07/2007 19:50

Hi Nails

I came upon CD a bit like you, and the inspiration was amazing. I've lost in total with CD nearly 5 stone since March this year (plus another 7lbs that I very slowly lost with WW before that) - and feel fantastic!! Still have another couple of stone to go, but never imagined this diet would work so well - however, you have to get your "head round it" iykwim before you start, as to be honest it is not easy, especially in the first couple of weeks. After that it does get easier as you go into Ketosis, and to be honest it just feels like normal to be on it now, to the point where I don't even miss food particularly. BUT, you do have to understand it fully first and realise that although very effective, it is quite hard. Sorry, not trying to put you off but just want you to know, I think that people are more successful if they know the downside as well as the up (being fantastic way to lose weight!).

As to finding out about the diet, you need to speak to a councillor - go to

www.cambridge-diet.com/

to find out more, also go to

www.minimins.com/cambridge-diet-forum/

to find a really interesting and useful forum about it - you'll learn loads.

The diet cost approx £35 a week and that includes all your food packs (shakes, soups, bars). There is different diet plans you can follow, which can lead to different types of weight loss, ie, Sole Source which means you have all meal replacements averages 3 or 4 lbs a week loss. But you can have a daily meal on some of the plans, still effective, just slower weight loss. The councillor will explain it all.

When you get to the BMI you want (ie, 25) you will go onto the maintenace plan which reintroduces food and this lasts a good few weeks.

Hope that info all helps and that I haven't put you off!

It's a great diet - and I think I've tried most in the past - and it's certainly working for me and everyone on here!

Good luck.

nails · 11/07/2007 20:16

Hi Notquitesobigfatmummy
Wow, you've done fantastically well! What an achievement, you must be thrilled.
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I've looked for a councillor on the 1st site you mentioned and joined their forum but I'll definately have a look at the minimins forum.
I've been really struggling with dieting at the moment and feel that doing the ss is just what I need (no temptation to over eat or eat the wrong things). Just spoke to dh about it and he said he's not sure whether he could do the ss but I said he could have a daily meal on another plan and I think he might do it with me.
Thanks for pointing out the down side of how hard it can be and you haven't put me off. I feel really fired up reading this thread with yours and others comments and they have given me such a lift
Thanks again, I'm off to look into it a bit more and hopefully I'll be joining you all soon.

nails · 11/07/2007 23:04

Hi again Notquitesobigfatmummy
Thank you so much for recommending the minimins forum, it's so inspiring, I've spent most of the evening on there reading through.
Really want to do it now, I feel quite excited about it .

SpookyMadMummy · 12/07/2007 18:31

I seen you on Minimins, Nails!!!

snowwonder · 15/07/2007 10:54

is anyone still on this thread??????

day 6 for me now and i feel i am doing great....

i dont really understand the minimims site, maybe i am doing it wrong

SpookyMadMummy · 15/07/2007 11:33

Hi Snowwonder
Glad you are doing well!!
I have had a couple of crappy days this weekend but am aiming to get back into ketosis and behave

snowwonder · 15/07/2007 14:55

you have done so well, try not to let it get to much out of control.. i think thats the key...

when i am at the weight i want to be i want to be able to have the odd day where i eat what ever i want but this one day cant then turn into one week then one month!! if you see what i mean. and i guess this has always been my problem, always start a diet on a monday lose the plot by tuesday then think oh well i will wait till another monday to come around.... and the pattern continues and here i am FAT !!!!!

I have to confess i have had 2 bananas and 1 apple this week, mainly due to the fact i ahve been doing heavy digging and lifting in my garden in preparation for my girls trampoline arriving.... but i still feel i have done great, compared to what i normally manage to eat.....

MunkiBaby · 15/07/2007 16:52

hellloooo CD'ers! im so sorry i have totally been neglecting this thread!!! tbh, i've been soooo addicted to the minimins site and my diary on there that i have had so little time for anything else! ((well, that AND running after the baby, and other general household things))

snow, i'm pleased that you are still here and have stuck with it. if you need help with minimins, just register and go to this LINK. post something on my thread and let me know its you, i'll be happy to help you where i can!

Spooky, i think i saw your before and during pics on the before/after thread! woot! keep it up!

tomorrow will be weigh-in number 4!!! i have 1 pound to go to reach my first mini-goal of losing 2 stone. can you believe it??? 2 stone in 4 weeks??? well, that is only if i lose one more pound by tomorrow...so i'm trying to drink all the required water and a little more. ((too much makes me uncomfortable! ))

i'll check back here again! good lucj everyone and i hope you have wonderful weeks!

OP posts:
MunkiBaby · 15/07/2007 16:57

also, spooky...

we all have moments where we feels the need to collapse and have something to eat. some dont give in, and others do. i promise you shouldnt feel so bad on yourself because you have stuck to t through the harder part: the first week...

plus, i might be inclined to offer one piece of advice, and im not doing this to "say its ok to do so" but...IF YOU MUST eat food, try your hardest to nibble on something with no carbs...all protien is good. fruit is full of carbs (natural sugars)...so probably not doing too good with the ketosis.. i will admit i have had to nibble on so i went for a few bites of my ds's skinless chicken acouple weeks ago...

i hope you feel better about being on this diet. remember: Its only a few months or so of dieting like this to get to a better weight...i'm so happy to spare those months in order to be smaller for the rest of my time, hopefully!

take care everyone

OP posts:
snowwonder · 15/07/2007 16:58

Hi everyone, i haven't been on here for a while.
Failing miserably at a diet i was doing so well at to start with.
I'd lost 48lbs but due to having bit of bad time recently i've put about stone back on!!!
Had a break from diet and now need loads motivation to get me back where i should be, LOSING WEIGHT!!!!!
Still have about 6 stone to go so i want to get it shifted and stop feeling so fed up.
HELP!!!!

gingernutlover · 30/07/2007 14:24

fussy mummy, poor you, we're here for support when you feel reqady to get back on the diet again - was hard enough the first time for me so can totally understand your situation as the second time round was very hard and still is but every time i look at my wieght loss and realise how much has gone, it spurs me on to get a bit more off
