A stone by Christmas

Shalll · 29/10/2018 07:22

Is it possible and who will join me?

This stone has been with me for many years now since youngest was born... five years ago! I really want it gone especially as the weight is mainly around my middle.

So starting today:
Weight 11.8 stone or 75kg
Height 5.7 or 1.70

Using my fitness pal with target daily calories of 1,200. Aiming to reduce sugar / carbs and increase water intake. Exercise when possible but it's a juggling act with kids/work, maybe 3 workouts per week plus walk when I can.

Would love some company!

Yay, well done 2anddone! I remember being in the 10-stone-zone a couple of years ago and feeling good!

Wine and dessert to celebrate sound like a good plan and you can get back to it tomorrow!

I had a caramel slice with my lunch so need to cut back a bit at dinner!

Shalll · 17/11/2018 14:21

Wow 2anddone!! So the barrier can be broken! That's amazing!

Lake I never knew MFP had that feature! It's very satisfying. Apparently if I continue like this I will weigh 65kg by Christmas, I'll believe it when I see it! I haven't been that weight since my marathon days..

I weighed myself today, and despite all the decent eating and not going massively overboard (apart from last night and the fridge cake), the scales said I was back where I started.

I’ve decided to ignore it, as I’ve got my period and that always adds a pound or two doesn’t it.

Breakfast: crunchy nut clusters. Tea
Lunch: two pitta breads, humus, pickled onion and olives. Half a bag of Pom bears, coffee.
Snack: bit of fridge cake.

Excercise: I’m going out for a run later.

EmilyRosiEl · 17/11/2018 17:32

Hi BlueCookieMonster,

Definitely don't worry about staying the same at that time of the month- I weigh myself daily and can be as much as 5lbs heavier for three days due to hormonal fluctuations and then lose it as quickly as I gained it.

Well done for sticking to your plan so well!

BlueCookieMonster · 17/11/2018 17:40

Thank you, although have downgraded run to walk.

Have planned a long run for tomorrow instead.

BlueCookieMonster · 17/11/2018 17:41

I actually can visually see a difference in my body, so don’t feel too discouraged despite the scales.

Shalll · 17/11/2018 18:17

Right I'm off on my night out, there's been much talk of wine and chocolate so wish me luck..,

On the plus side I'm wearing a dress that was previously too tight Grin

Enjoy your evenings out, Shalll and 2anddone!

I’m polishing my halo as I’ve stayed within my calorie allowance today. Now I just need to do it for another 15 days!

BlueCookieMonster · 18/11/2018 17:35

Hello all! Ran a 7k today along with junior park run. It was a hard run though, wasn’t quite prepared for it.

Shalll · 18/11/2018 20:52

Wow BlueCookie that's absolutely brilliant!!! What a distance..

Nervous for weigh in tomorrow given last night's extravaganza...

OP posts:
LakeFlyPie · 18/11/2018 21:33

7k is impressive!
Doing Ok food wise although today was my 1st day this week of going over my 1290 MFP allowance.
We were invited to my parents for Sunday lunch and it turned out to be a full Xmas dinner with roast goose, Christmas pud and red wine.
Was absolutely delicious and I'll be right back on the healthy eating tomorrow.
My Complete Diary prediction was 'you'll be pretty much the same by Xmas' this evening 😁

Letsmove1t · 18/11/2018 23:09

Ladies just stumbled across your thread- you are doing so well, good on you, keep going x

Shalll · 19/11/2018 06:48

Urgh only about 0.5kg down so still hovering above 70 at 70.5kg. Come on!!! What's it going to take??

RhubarbCrumbled · 19/11/2018 12:15

I'm back! Last week didn't go well but I've had some lovely days out and back on it today.

Weigh in this morning says that I've stayed the same but did drop to 9st12lbs on Thursday so hopefully that means it'll drop back to that quite quickly.

Shalll 0.5kg is great and haven't you lost quite a bit over the last few weeks too? Might go with a whoosh this week.

2anddone · 19/11/2018 12:53

Well done shall a loss is still a loss!! Break that 70kg next week 🤞
Something has happened to me today I no longer crave something sweet and I actually feel full after I have eaten.
💐💐Thank you to whoever mentioned the complete diary on mfp I LOVE it and it's helping keep me on track.
Hope everyone has a good day

EmilyRosiEl · 19/11/2018 14:04

Well done Shalll! That's still a good loss and you're getting there.

I weigh-in on Monday mornings (slimming world online), although I really weigh myself every morning! I've only lost 1.5lbs but I've not been good with my diet this week. I had a cancer-scare and symptomatic breast screening clinic the week before and lost about half a stone in a week with the worry though so I'm hoping that I can get back to losing more weight this week.

So far today I've just had vegetable soup!

rheannap · 19/11/2018 15:08

Can I join?

I use MyFitnessPal and am trying to stay at 1400-1600 kcal per day. I exercise most days (gym, running, netball).
I'm 5 foot 8 and 82kg.

desperate to get down a clothes size or two for Christmas!

EmilyRosiEl · 19/11/2018 20:30

Hi Rheannap,

That sounds like a great plan! It's not my thread but welcome to the group :)

LakeFlyPie · 19/11/2018 23:34

Hi all Smile
Back on it today and feeling very virtuous after graciously declining a chocolate brownie proffered by DP this evening not that keen on brownies
MFP 'Complete Diary' offered the most promising progress by Christmas based on today's menu although it is going off a weight I put in during the summer so I really should weigh in. I never remember until I've had breakfast, really need to get over that hurdle as it's not as if I eat 2lb of breakfast!
Definitely feel less bloated after a week of veg and fruit heavy and refined sugar light diet.
My step count will be up this week as I realised today that my MOT expired last week Blushand my mechanic can't fit me in until Friday. It's going to be a bit Siberian on the weather front so that mishap wasn't very well timed, going to dig out my thermals and winter coat.

RhubarbCrumbled · 20/11/2018 09:55

And I'm back to 9st12 this morning!

Lake, I feel your pain with the car. My car heating has just packed up and I can only just feel my fingers again.

Quick update on food from yesterday:
B:Porridge, cherries, 0% yogurt, milk
L: lentil soup, tuna sandwich, apple, satsumas, caramel wafer
D: Spaghetti bolognese
S: options hot chocolate

2anddone · 20/11/2018 14:49

Well done rhubarb a weight starting with 9 stone is something I can only dream of!!
My food for today
Breakfast cup of tea, cereal
Lunch soup and an apple
Dinner out with friends and have about 800 calories to play with, any ideas of low calorie meals that I can choose without looking boring??

SuzeD29 · 21/11/2018 07:05

Weighed in at 11st 8lb yesterday. I've had a terrible couple of weeks- so stressful and I've eaten too much and drank far too much wine. I'm pretty amazed I've maintained my weight to be honest. I feel good today so hopefully this is the start of a good day and the scales moving again. Hope you are all well

LurkYouLongtime · 21/11/2018 08:34

Oh my goodness just checked back in after a few days and everyone is doing amazingly! I've been away for a few days and stuffed my face the whole time Blush got back on the horse yesterday with some lovely roast chicken and salad for dinner and I'll make some soup today.

7k run is the stuff of dreams! I used to run a bit but since having the kids I've neither the opportunity nor energy.

I'm so, so bloated just now. Not sure what's causing it but it's horrible. Sad

Can't remember who recommended the Change 4 Life recipe app but I've downloaded it and it looks ideal for yummy healthy family recipes so thank you!

Shalll · 21/11/2018 10:45

Hope you are ok Suze. Sometimes it is just not worth worrying about food / weight.

Amazing progress Rhubarb!! Wow a weight starting with 9st

All well here, finally a few people have started to notice how incredibly lean (ha ha) I am now. Still hoping to break that 70kg/11st boundary in the next week or so.

In case useful to anyone else who eats on the run, Waitrose do an amazing steam bag of couscous with kale and cauliflower or lentils with sweet potato - 2 minutes in the microwave, mix in some salmon flakes / feta / cold chicken and the meal is done!

I really have to stop having "just a couple of gingerbread biscuits" here and there though, I am a bit addicted but it is definitely slowing my weight loss down at this stage.

OP posts:
RhubarbCrumbled · 21/11/2018 11:54

2anddone i'm only 5'1" and have a slight frame so I should be closer to the 8st mark for a healthy BMI!

But getting back in to the 9st has definitely given me a boost - 1lb to go for half stone!

Shalll the gingerbread is addictive. I've set myself a 3pm afternoon tea time when I get to stop working and have a chocolate biscuit and tea. It stops me obsessing about sweet things all day as I know I can stop and have one then!
