A stone by Christmas

Shalll · 29/10/2018 07:22

Is it possible and who will join me?

This stone has been with me for many years now since youngest was born... five years ago! I really want it gone especially as the weight is mainly around my middle.

So starting today:
Weight 11.8 stone or 75kg
Height 5.7 or 1.70

Using my fitness pal with target daily calories of 1,200. Aiming to reduce sugar / carbs and increase water intake. Exercise when possible but it's a juggling act with kids/work, maybe 3 workouts per week plus walk when I can.

Would love some company!

I'm slinking back in after a week with my eye off the ball. I haven't gone mad and in fact I'm half a pound down but I've not been "on it" if you know what I mean.

Today will be
B: scrambled eggs with goats cheese
L: Chinese pork balls with stir fry veg
D: chicken and chorizo chicken.

I'm also doing a hiit running class.

RhubarbCrumbled · 12/11/2018 09:59

Weigh is was 1lb down! Woo hoo! In the NSVs I'm onto week 4 of c25k, I've exercised every day and my work trousers don't feel as tight.

Week 3 here we come!

BitOutOfPractice · 12/11/2018 10:06

@Shalll you are doing absolutely brilliantly! You've inspired me to have a Holden week of goodness!

LurkYouLongtime · 12/11/2018 10:20

Are you welcoming latecomers to the party? Not sure about a stone by Christmas as I've left it a bit late but now my second DC is 6months I'm planning to stop breastfeeding by Christmas and no longer have the excuse to eat cake every day Shock

Like many on the thread I'm high 11 stone and would like to be high 10 stone and (just) inside the healthy weight bracket. I'd like to be so much fitter as well.

My main enemy is time - with a baby and toddler at home and DH working 12 hour days the time absolutely disappears and before I know it the kids are in bed, it's 9pm and I'm heating up a ready meal Blush I'll look back over the day and I've not eaten a lot but it will have been buttered toast shoved down my throat on the way to playgroup, cake in a cafe, a packet or two of crisps mid afternoon, and the leftovers of DS's dinner at 5pm. Confused and then I wonder why I feel lethargic and bloated.... Yuck.

So help me sort out food. If you are time poor (and very often with a whiney baby in one arm and a toddler hanging off your leg) what do you eat?!

RhubarbCrumbled · 12/11/2018 12:12

Hello Lurk. Welcome aboard!

I'm past the very small baby stage but still not a lot of time so I batch cook everything. I don't mind eating the same thing a few times in the week so that helps!

On a Sunday I make big batch of stew / pasta sauce / chilli with masses of veg and we have that 3 times in the week. I also do a vat of 0point soup (I follow weight watchers) that I can eat whenever I'm hungry. I also prep snacking veg for the fridge and some hummous for dips. Then one night a week I'll actually cook fresh (maybe a sausage tray bake) and the weekend is a tiny bit easier. I also try and keep nice small wrapped biscuits in like kit kats and nakd bars. They mean I've had a treat and I only have one as they're wrapped (I have no idea why that works, but I'll happily eat an entire pack of unwrapped biscuits!). And I try and save the treat until 3pm and have an afternoon cuppa actually sitting down.

Good luck!

smallgreyelephant · 12/11/2018 12:15

May I join? I'm not sure of my weight but I'm defo a dress size bigger than is comfortable.
I think the camaraderie of a group would be a boost. I'll try no snacking and lots of home- cooking.

Tinkerbell36 · 12/11/2018 13:13

Can I join too?
5’1” and weigh the most I ever have at 9 stone 8llbs! Need to get down to 8 stone 3/4.

Just had prawns and melon for my lunch.

RhubarbCrumbled · 12/11/2018 13:40

Hello Small and Tinkerbell!

Tinkerbell I'm 5'1'' and currently at 9st13lbs and need to be about 8st7lbs so you have a definite head start on me.

2anddone · 12/11/2018 13:59

Still no cooker but trying to be good!!
Breakfast was cereal
Lunch chicken and multigrain soup
So far so good I need to move more!!

SuzeD29 · 12/11/2018 14:28

Maintained my weight this week. Had injured my knee early last week so no exercise all week and questionable food choices. Back on it today. Breakfast fruit and yogurt. Lunch BLT sandwich. Dinner will be chicken and leek gratin with chips and salad

halfwitpicker · 12/11/2018 14:38

Morning all

Welcome to the newbies!

So help me sort out food. If you are time poor (and very often with a whiney baby in one arm and a toddler hanging off your leg) what do you eat?!
^^

This is me. I do what Rhubarb does and batch cook at the weekend. This usually includes :

Massive veggie and lentil soup
Some sort of chicken casserole bulked out with loads of veg
Two baking trays of roasted veg, usually cauli and butternut squash
A quiche (again, veg heavy)

It takes effort but makes the week easier. Have omelets for dinner when there's nothing else left.

How's everyone's weekend been? It was FIL's birthday so we had a massive meal, I filled up on soup, and the main which was veal côtelét, mash and veg. Didn't have cheese or dessert. Had loads of wine though. Also flirted inappropriately with BIL which I'm still blushing about!

Wearing some jeans today that definitely feel looser. Will weight myself tomorrow and report back.

Have a good week all.

LurkYouLongtime · 12/11/2018 14:42

Rhubarb thanks that's helpful. DH is a bit of a pain when it comes to food (even though I do all the cooking) Hmm and I would struggle to persuade him to eat the same thing two nights in a row. If I batch cooked though DS and I could have some at lunchtimes so still worth doing.

DS is watching cartoons so I'm going to try to make tonight's dinner just now. I'm a fairly rubbish cook which doesn't help...

I did have to collect a parcel and we all walked instead of taking the car, so feeling a little accomplished. Small steps! (Literally)

LurkYouLongtime · 12/11/2018 14:44

Thank you halfwit. Chicken and veg casserole is sounding appealing - I'm off to rummage in the fridge!

LakeFlyPie · 12/11/2018 14:57

May I join you?
Haven't weighed in yet but have started recording intake on MFP and declared a halt on mindless munching through the day and particularly in the evening.
Prospect of a sunny family holiday in February is my major motivation which I hope will keep me under control over the next couple of months.
I'd like to lose at least a stone by Xmas with another half at least by Feb.
I've had success with SW before but sticking to meals only (protein and veg heavy) and fruit or a small sweet treat a day should shift the 1st half pretty quickly.

Shalll · 12/11/2018 15:30

Feeling a bit down here... I know I've lost a good amount of weight so far.. but no one has noticed .. When I asked DH if I didn't look slimmer I got a confused "Oh, uh, yes of course"...

And not just that I still feel my middle is still definitely my biggest part and I am losing the weight elsewhere.

I actually really don't think the mirena coil suits me. Slightly off topic but does anyone else have it / get on with it? I have had it for 2-3 months now and am constantly achy / spotting / bloated... Might have it taken out but then what?

Sorry for the slight detour!

Hello new joiners and welcome! To those picking at their children's food and them having late dinners, my new technique is to actually have my dinner with the children rather than with DH, meaning I have the health benefits of eating earlier and not eating twice. It's just a bit of a shame about our dinner together but I make a nice mug of tea and sit with DH while he eats.

Shall, I asked my OH if I was skinny yet and he said 'it's a journey'. I'm not sure I like him anymore.

currytonight · 12/11/2018 19:47

2lb off!

halfwitpicker · 12/11/2018 21:28

I asked DH if I had lost weight : he said :'well, you haven't put any on'

Just what a girl wants to hear

Confused
Shalll · 12/11/2018 21:46

They're charming aren't they.. Honestly!!

I'm disappointed in my work colleagues, they're often telling me I've lost weight when I haven't, and this time, nothing!

2anddone · 12/11/2018 21:52

My breasts have shrunk!! No other noticeable weight lost but there is definite space now in my bra!! I didn't want to lose it from there I want to lose weight on my middle!!!

rach788 · 13/11/2018 01:58

rach788 · 13/11/2018 02:28

Have you guys heard of this program yet? Wondering how it is?

RhubarbCrumbled · 13/11/2018 05:31

Rach is be more inclined to spend the money on a 30 Day Shred DVD and a couple of months of healthy food.

helenb706 · 13/11/2018 07:19

Morning all... really well done to everyone who has lost. I had a rubbish, rubbish week but have actually gone down a couple of pounds so 4lbs off so far and 12 days to 'the do'''. If I can get rid of another 3 I will be happy and hopefully on my way to a stone for Xmas. The good thing about this thread is that we are all honest - some are able to be good all the time, some not but I aim to be one of the dedicated ones and don't give up when I have screwed up because others have too and they haven't.
Welcome newbies - you can still do a stone before Xmas, just means that you have to be very good at the social events but then that isn't a bad incentive. Have a good day everyone... looking forward to the reports. x

RhubarbCrumbled · 13/11/2018 18:56

I’m due on and want to eat ALL THE CHOCOLATE.

I’ve had to settle for lentil soup and a kit kat.
