Not doing too badly today, it was a friend's birthday so met for lunch. Despite an awesome menu I went for the chicken salad which was actually very nice. Also had a couple of onion rings, but hey-ho. I can live with that. I'm planning on weighing in at the weekend rather than Monday, due to obvious time constraints on a Monday morning. Here's to tomorrow.

Froglady99 · 26/09/2018 21:44

Evening all, I can’t remember which poster mentioned about Peppermint and Liquorice tea as a sweet treat- Thank you! I got some today and it’s lovely.
I have had a good day so far trying to stick to my calories and macro’s....

RosemaryTelephoneOperator · 26/09/2018 22:49

Doing better today

6500 steps
35 checks / 40
In bed by 10.30
Still not drinking enough water.

One day at a time this requires a lot of patience! Wink

ShoeJunkie · 27/09/2018 07:20

Really struggling to get my steps in on the days I work. Think I need to do some circuits of the car park or something!
Dance class tonight though which will burn a few calories!

tibni · 27/09/2018 07:24

Doing ok - yesterday was difficult, all morning with ds in hospital so ended up eating less that 100 calories in the day, but then made up for it during the evening.
Ds given additional meds so could be a difficult period for next week as his body adjusts.
My birthday Friday and dd will be back from uni so we will have a high cal dinner but as long as I balance it over week should be ok . Have a good day all

Stringofpearls · 27/09/2018 07:33

Bit late to the party but please may I join? I need to lose about 2 stones. I had a baby a fee months ago so could put it down as baby weight, however it's more likely down to my love of cake and chocolate Grin I hardly fit into any of my clothes at the moment which is making me a little sad so I'm hoping that this will give me some much needed motivation.

hippipotamiwantstoloseapound · 27/09/2018 07:35

Struggling a bit.
Had a steroid injection into my knee on Monday but it has not kicked in yet. I hope it does soon, so I can dig out my fitbit and get some steps in. I think that would hugely help.

Well done to all of you :)

dreamdream · 27/09/2018 08:50

Hippi sorry that you are struggling. Hope the injection kicks in soon. Thanks

Hmm yesterday did end up a bit shit. Snacked in the evening as DH had brought home a couple of bits. I am now super hungry for breakfast.

Serves me right though, was eating the chocolate DH brought me and not particularly enjoying it (I haven’t had anything except tiny bits of Hotel Chocolat for a while so I think my tastes are changing - certainly no longer enjoy Cadbury’s as much now) had one that tasted a bit odd, checked the date... it was a month out of date! Not that it really matters with chocolate but he got it at work and thus knows who will be in trouble for failing to check dates AGAIN (they have form for this)

It did feel a bit karma ish though as I shouldn’t have eaten them at all.

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 27/09/2018 08:56

tibni good luck for your DS

This week was definitely the wrong week to start, so much going on with food and no time to exercise. I will be stricter next week but hanging on in.

dreamdream · 27/09/2018 16:16

Uh oh

This happened Grin

Just popping in to give moral support. Was over 15st in January and decided enough was enough. Ten years of being somewhere between 13 and 15... now been on MFP/calorie counting for almost 9 months.

Worst part is thinking it's such a long way/time to be where you want. But you need to take the first step and keep on going even when you get stuck. When I started I thought I'd never cope.

Divide up your loss into mini-goals and celebrate each one, eg, 10% off, 20% off, 1/3 of the way there, BMI 30, 25...

If you fall off, get back on within a couple of days. It only takes 3 days to make a habit but also to break one! (So I was told this lunchtime)

Keep going! Flowers

GirlfriendInAKorma · 27/09/2018 19:44

@moonbells I like the idea of little milestones along the way - great idea :)

GirlfriendInAKorma · 27/09/2018 20:16

I want: Gin
I'm going to do: a HIIT workout.

Confused
slightlycross · 27/09/2018 20:29

@moonbells any tips on the motivation?

I’m a bit late to the thread but really struggling with ability to resist chocolate at the moment🤦🏼‍♀️. I’ve Had a healthcheck and I’m all healthy apart from
Now being in the “very obese” category which was a shock. I’m 15 st 11 and 5’6” and on the upper edges of size 16. I don’t want to buy any 18s but sizes down but a part of me still wants chocolate arghhh

moonbells · 27/09/2018 21:28

Motivation is whatever you want it to be, and something that means a lot to you!
Pick something you really want. Find a metaphorical carrot.

If you're brave, buy a dress you want in the size you want to end up. Brave, or foolhardy! I did that four years ago and it's been sitting in the wardrobe ever since... finally wore it in June. It's now too flipping big! GrinShock

Health can be a big motivator (part of mine - family history of diabetes). Big birthday. Holiday of a lifetime... but don't pick someone else's motivation or you'll never do it. Has to be yours.

My own ultimate bribe was something I wanted that was really expensive. That way, I didn't worry too much about the timescale of the diet because I knew it would take me at least that long to save up!!!!

moonbells · 27/09/2018 21:39

slightly you say something that never ceases to amaze me.
I'm just over 5'6. I was 15 stone 4. But I was a size 20-22 and BMI 33.7 (obese). I am forever puzzled at how two people can be almost the same height and weight but be such totally different sizes.

It's why BMI is such a poor indicator, as are dress sizes as they vary wildly and have crept up over the years so a 1986 16 is now a 12...

Tape measure is much better - nobody has as yet redefined the inch or the cm!

Ofchris · 27/09/2018 21:40

I’ve not had a great couple of weeks as my Dad was rushed into hospital just after I posted and I’ve spent all of my time there or at work. Starting again tomorrow.

poorpaws · 27/09/2018 21:48

Still here, which is a bit of a miracle in itself. 25,259 steps done today, I’m knackered but pleased I was able to do so many. In bed early again to stop the late chocolate attack.

Heading towards the weekend everyone so just do your best.

moonbells · 27/09/2018 22:21

Ofchris Flowers

Cagliostro · 27/09/2018 22:50

Oh gosh ofchris hope he is getting better :( 💐

Not the best day here, but could be worse I suppose 🙄🤔

Ofchris · 28/09/2018 08:13

Thank you. He’s out today so no more excuses! Planning breakfast of fruit and yoghurt, baked potato and salad for lunch and vegetable biryani tonight. Starting weight 16 stone 4 😳😳

GirlfriendInAKorma · 28/09/2018 08:14

Look after yourself @Ofchris Thanks

IsTheRainEverComingBack · 28/09/2018 08:40

BMI really isn’t a poor indicator, unless you’re very athletic and muscley. For the standard woman carrying too much weight it works very well. Dress size isn’t helpful, as people can carry their weight very differently depending on body shape, but BMI deals with mass not shape.

Cagliostro · 28/09/2018 09:45

Bloody hell I saw a pic of me from two years ago, I. Was. HUGE.

Has made me feel slightly better at least, as although I have a way to go I am so much better off than I was.
