Hi all...a bit late for my first post of the month but i am still around.

Hovering around the 11st 12/13 mark. I'm beginning to wonder if that is as good as it gets. Perhaps my arms feet legs and head will always weigh the same and I've taken all i can out of my waistline.

A bit like BOOP i am relatively happy and people i haven't seen for a while comment on my weight loss which is so nice to hear.

Having a problem with certain types of clothes because my shoulders havent shrunk but obviously tummy and waist/hips have so things can be the wrong side of roomy around the middle. I will need to find myself a clothes tip thread soon...Blush

Out for dinner tonight and just had granola and yogurt with a coffee at my favourite coffee shop. Hoping i wont need much more before dinner. Will have 2 or 3 courses and will substitute salad for carbs with my steak.

I hope your scales start behaving quim

Hi all. I’m still here. In Budapest and although I didn’t want to be in holiday mode - I am! Been out for lunch and dinner with DH which has included wine. Haven’t been great with my steps as it is just so flipping hot. But I did go to the gym in the hotel yesterday and did 30mins on the treadmill including a minute running and then some upper body weight machines. Obv not enough as can’t feel it today! Breakfasts have been healthy though!

Quim - I really wonder if you are just not eating enough. There is some evidence that the body likes familiarity with calorie intake and eating similar sized calorie meals every day can assist with weight loss as the body knows what to expect. And to be honest a 300g gain could just mean you need a big poo! Sorry! Grin Or you had a lot of salt. Or are retaining water from the heat or time of the month or whatever.

Shalli - I tried that Clean9 cleanse. It was vile. Vile vile vile. Got my money back as I literally puked with it. Gross stuff.

I think for some people something like that can help though. Some people find taking food out of the equation completely helps with mindset. However there are cheaper and nicer ways to achieve that. The Blood Sugar Diet is good and is based on real food. Or buy a good protein powder and make a smoothie yourself for breakfast and lunch or just replace one meal and then have something sensible and low carb in the evening. I’m thinking of doing that next week as I have a tonne of frozen fruit that needs using. So I might do that nice we get back from Budapest to lose what I am sure to have gained here.

BitOutOfPractice · 10/08/2018 15:17

cider if you’re in Budapest you must totally avoid the Lángos stalls. You must. I mean, you wouldn’t want to eat deep fried dough dripping with garlic butter would you? Grin

I am still here. I seem to be losing and gaining the same half kilo all through this month. I have been eating quite clean as well and haven’t had any alcohol at all! I am going to try a protein smoothie for breakfast next week and see if that Shakes things up for me. Carbs are my downfall and while I have been keeping to the 1000-1200 calorie limit - I know I have been eating more carbs than I should, I may have to sacrifice my lunch time panini as well

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 11/08/2018 09:00

I've decided to start Saturday weigh ins again because it worked well last year at keeping me virtuous on a Friday.

I've just weighed in at 10 13.8 which is 2lb down from Monday morning Grin

Also I've decided my goal weight is definitely 10 7. If you see me dithering and changing that (in either direction) you have my permission to shout at me.

raindrops I am having the same issue as you. Sticking to approx 1200 and no added sugar but I'm still on around 60% carbs according to mfp.

I might try eggs for breakfast instead of porridge with frozen fruit. I do love my porridge though.

Have a good weekend everyone Halo

CiderwithBuda · 11/08/2018 10:40

BOOP - would you believe I have never had one? Even living here for 7 years. Always avoided as I just knew if I had one I would want more!

We are back for a week for a festival for DS and his friend now. It’s lovely to be back. Fab night out with old friends last night with far too much wine.

TVHubbyClaire · 11/08/2018 11:50

Lovely steak dinner last night accompanied by more than my fair share of 2 bottles of Malbec.

Unsurprisingly i feel a little bit weary this morning and my scales showed me slightly over 12st. Not unexpected and i want to be careful today and hopefully see an 11 tomorrow.

Enjoy the weekend

Joined Slimming World yesterday, so am all fired up and ready to go! Given lots of leaflets to wade through, wont have time to eat!

CiderwithBuda · 11/08/2018 13:40

Found a new diet I think we should all try. Anyone fancy it?

Grin I love that cider. Good job the drink driving rules were more relaxed then.

I just put that into mfp out of curiosity. Surprisingly it's under 1200 cals. Mainly because it contains almost no food! I don't know if it's just me but I'm pretty sure if o started on the wine with breakfast I'd be on the Doritos by mid afternoon Grin

CiderwithBuda · 11/08/2018 21:38

I don’t think they had Doritos back then! Bog standard crisps only. Grin

Love that you put it into MFP though!

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2018 09:47

Good morning Monday. How the devil are we all?

I had a great week last week (apart from massive blow out on Saturday!) and I’m 4lbs down on last monday’s Weigh in. Very happy with that. All geared up for another golden week.

ponygirlcurtis · 13/08/2018 10:14

Brilliant, BOOP!

I have been most absent over the summer - maintaining rather than losing. Now it's back to work tomorrow (Scottish schools) and back to it.

So - 10st 12.5lbs. 2.5lb up from the start of the summer. Today I am back to drinking 2l of water not wine and logging all my food. Will ease myself back into BSD too, have bought the recipe book and planned my meals for the next two weeks. Hoping I can get my mojo back. 😊

QuimReaper · 13/08/2018 11:16

Someone's printed the wine and eggs diet here before, I think it's terrific, wine and eggs are my main food groups so I'd be golden Grin

I really can't believe in the "eating too little" thing, it simply doesn't make sense that if you restrict food you gradually get fatter, especially if, like me, you're just restricting for a few days. I think the more logical explanations are that a) I've been getting fewer steps in, and later in the day, and / or b) maybe my weekend indulgences have ramped up so my weekday goldenness can't overcome them? Doesn't seem that way to me but it would make sense. I wonder if I'm nibbling just a shade more on weekdays too, and it's tipping the balance. 300g isn't a big gain in itself but it keeps happening. I can't believe how long I've been trying to get myself back to goal! Confused

Oh my, Lángos sounds absolutely deadly - Cider you've done amazingly well to avoid it, I can imagine one bite would set me off into a frenzy and I'd eat nothing else!

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2018 11:16

I’d call that a win pony Good luck with catching the wagon. I’m actually perversely enjoying the control. 6 dry days last week and 6 days at 1100 calories or less. I’m on fire. That’ll all come to a grinding halt next week when I’m off to France. But at least I’ll be going into it on the front foot, not the back

Ate little yesterday Smile but spent 4 hours in pub Sad

End result is I am still hovering around 11st 12/13

2 hours badminton tonight will help I hope and I am going to kick start an early night and early morning walk regime...Hmm

I seem to have fallen into my cereal habits again at work and I need to see if I can go without until lunch and perhaps get closer to a 16:8 plan again.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 13/08/2018 18:21

Hi there, everyone! I'm back from my lovely, lovely hols, with a nice tan and an extra 6lb to shift.

I'm resetting everything, forget prior weight loss, my new starting point is 12st 13lb. DH and I are having a crack at Paul McKenna, which has worked well for me in the past. We're giving it 8 weeks to see if it's a go-er. May be a terrible idea, we'll see soon enough! I'm definitely feeling motivated enough though.

I haven't read back through the thread to this point, so waves to everyone - will get myself up to speed tonight!

Until then, I spotted this on FB (highly recommend The Learner Parent page), and it made me giggle - felt about right for me at the moment.

Feeling hot hot hot! But are we looking it? Can the Slenderistas catch the wagon up and lose 7lbs in August. Come one, come all!
ponygirlcurtis · 14/08/2018 07:14

Which Paul McKenna are you doing Quantum? I have done a few and feel they helped me get in the right frame of mind.

How much weight have you lost altogether now TV?

I am back at work today after 6 weeks off. Don't wanna! But it's been a spectacularly inactive summer (due to DS2 fracturing his wrist and refusing to go anywhere) so will be good to be moving about more again and getting back to BSD.

KickBishopBrennanUpTheArse · 14/08/2018 07:28

Urgh! Shocking day yesterday after my week of sticking to calories.

Dd made chocolate cupcakes. I may have had 4 Blush

They were very nice though.

On the plus side they have all gone now. Back on it today.

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 14/08/2018 08:50

I Can Make You Thin, Pony - which I think is the original one. I did it (mumbles) 12 years ago, very successfully. It only broke down because a gap between house moves meant I had to temporarily move back in with my parents and my mum would not accept me not clearing my plate. But up to that point, I lost about 1.5 stone, pretty painlessly.

We need to do something different - I've had too many abortive attempts at calorie counting to be able to refocus. Good start yesterday, though I know there is a lot of mental reprogramming to do, and I still need to dig out my copy of the book (god knows where it is hiding).

1.5lb down on yesterday though - I know it's just bloat, but better off than on!

QuimReaper · 14/08/2018 09:49

Welcome back Quantum, loving your positivity, that's just the right attitude!

pony I must have missed about your son, how awful for him on his summer holidays Sad

Had a good day yesterday food-wise but a paltry step count again. I don't want another disappointing weigh-in so I've really got to give myself a kick.

Feeling a bit grumpy too because I'd planned six golden days this week as a final pre-holiday push, but a friend keeps bugging me to go out for dinner with her and it looks like it's going to have to be this Friday which will mean this is just a "normal" week rather than a super-duper-golden one. Obviously I really want to see her and it'll be lovely, but I'm resentful of losing my last chance to kick off an extra Linda or so before I go to America Blush

TVHubbyClaire · 14/08/2018 10:05

Hi Pony I think I started when I was 13st 6 (may just have declared 13st 4 through embarassment, I can't remember exactly) Blush

On that basis I guess I have lost 1 1/2 stones so around 21 Lindas which I am very happy about and a great deal of credit has to go to the Slenderistas. I'm not sure I would have been this successful without making myself declare weights a few times a week on the thread.

I would be really happy to STS the same around 11 1/2 st. I was 11st 13 again today andnot sure how I lose this last 4 - 6 pounds and keep them off.

I am also feeling my age recently Sad seems every morning after badminton I feel every part of my legs and ankles sore and I have struggled with a calf injury at tennis for most of the year. Sad. Walking and tracking steps is quite nice but I do want to do a bit more.

TVHubbyClaire · 14/08/2018 10:09

I will have to have a look at Paul McKenna.

I dont think I have heard of that before and perhaps its about time I started doing a bit more in the kitchen.

My problem is that I love eating and planning menus and I don't mind food shopping but i don't particularly enjoy cooking, clearing up and the time it takes. I think Jamie had me in mind with his 5 ingredient cook book Blush

QuantumWeatherButterfly · 14/08/2018 11:31

TV, Paul McKenna is basically about reprogramming how you think about food and changing your relationship with it - in essence, it is learning to eat like a thin person. It's very simple (literally just 4 rules you follow), the difficult bit is changing your mindset. When I did it before, it took a while for it to click then I absolutely loved it.

The rules are:

  1. Eat when you are hungry
  2. Eat what you want
  3. Eat consciously (so out your cutlery/sandwich down, properly chew each mouthful, think about what you are eating and make sure you enjoy it)
  4. Stop when you are full.

There is little bit more to it than that, but not much more - basically information on judging hunger levels and tips on managing it. There is also a self-hypnosis CD you can listen to, but I never got on with that - Paul's voice just used to make me giggle!
