Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

Ooh can I join in? I've lost 30lbs since last Summer but it's been a slow loss - or actually it's been quick, then I stop for a few months, then start back up, then stop...

Currently 215lbs. If I could get down to 207lbs by end of August and 200lbs by end of September, I'll be so happy.

Back on the low carb wagon for me!

WomanOfTime · 01/08/2018 09:41

As it's August 1st I thought I'd weigh in properly - 139lbs or 9st 13lbs. Very pleased to be back under 10 stone (just!). I'm only 5'2" so a healthy weight for me is about 8st 7lbs - I have lots of nice clothes in the wardrobe that will fit me again if I manage to get back down to that size, so that's an incentive. Frustrating having clothes in every size from 10 to 16 because I'm fairly good at losing weight but not maintaining it, though.

One of the most incredible things I've noticed is my waist size - I've only lost 5lbs so far, but 3 inches off my waist in a few weeks! I think that's proof that my body definitely does the carb bloat thing.

I weigh myself every morning but it's not completely reliable as it depends on how hydrated I am - I also seem to hold onto weight before/during my period and then lose a few pounds very quickly after it.

keiratwiceknightly · 01/08/2018 09:48

I'm 11st6 this morning meaning that most of the holiday bloat is gone. Hoping for 7lbs in August as I'd dearly love to be 10st summat by sept 1st.

beforeihit30 · 01/08/2018 10:45

@shedders I have the Total 5% Smile it’s not high in carbs but it’s higher in protein than some other yoghurts so I think it’s particularly good in that regard as I’m a bit rubbish for protein, and as far I know having high fat with protein (doesn’t have to be high protein, but at least moderate) helps with keeping you satisfied.

@peach6789 I weigh regularly - not every morning purely because I forget, but at least several times a week. I do that because I found I actually became less obsessive like that, as I became much more aware of my natural fluctuations.

Great thanks @beforeihit30

My day 1 weight: 15st 11lbs.

I’ve had a good brunch but dinner is uncertain because I’ll be out with a friend.

peanutbutter310 · 01/08/2018 13:27

I'd like to join! Weighed this morning and I'm starting the month at exactly 10 stone.

I've been hovering around this weight since my initial weight loss when DD was born last year. While I'm just about fitting into my old clothes, I could definitely do with dropping another half a stone.

WhatAmISupposedToBeDoing · 01/08/2018 13:39

Hello, can I join please?

I lost 2 stone last year and seem to have gained half of it back :( sugar is my downfall, so I am going cold turkey on processed and added sugar, and cool turkey on bread and white carbs. Cutting out snacks too. My starting weight yesterday was 13st4 at 5ft8. Boo.

beforeihit30 · 01/08/2018 13:48

WhatAmI I like the phrase cool turkey Grin

Right - my official starting weight for 1 Aug is 13st 5.25lbs or 85.11kgs. I'm aiming to lose 8lbs this month to make it 1 stone lost since 1 July. I'm logging everything I eat in MFP, and trying to walk at least a little everyday as I can't attend my regular exercise sessions due to childcare issues over the holidays.

My interim target is to get to 12st 7lbs, as that will take my BMI under 30 for the first time in nearly 7 years. After that I need to get to 10st 10lbs to be at the very top of my 'healthy weight' range. I have only ever weighed that once since childhood and on the day I weighed that (having lost 6 stone that time to reach it), I found out I was pregnant with DC1. Getting to 10st 10lbs means I will have lost 73lb since starting trying to tackle my weight issues this time last summer. I'm currently 49% of the way there - but it has definitely been stop-start on the way to this point.

Foreverlexicon · 01/08/2018 15:56

I am in! 7 pounds would put me at my goa at 135. Any lower and my top half starts to look a little freaky. I’m 5 foot 8 so fairly tall.

I was 142 before yesterday happened and bloated up to 147 today 😳 had a couple of bad days coming to the end of 8 days off work! I do much better on work days as too busy!

I lost 7 pounds in July so would be awesome to make goal by the end of the month. I need to be under 140 at any rate as have booked a tattoo on the 31st which is supposed to symbolise the end of years of eating disorders (I do feel fully recovered now) and getting back to 140 pounds as that’s the weight I was before I relapsed a few years back.

I’m not following a plan or counting calories (messes with my head!), just trying to eat better.

Fluffiest · 01/08/2018 18:27

Hello, please can I join in? Hearing from everyone else is already fueling my motivation.

I am 10st1. I've gained a stone and a half in the last few years, met a man, fell in love, married, had a baby... Lots of good changes but I have become less active and have indulged more in takeaways and big brunches!

Time for a change!

Peach6789 · 01/08/2018 19:22

I've had a good day, but somewhat under my calories on MFP. It won't let me end the day. Not sure if I should eat more or just leave it, I don't feel hungry at the moment. Breakfast was 253 calories, lunch 155 and tea 234. Plus a sneaky gin which was 72. Don't think I've drunk enough water though. Going to try drink a few more glasses before bed.

My DP has bought me a lovely t-shirt that he spotted online. It's very... erm... tight. He reckons I look amazing in it, but he likes clothes that show my shape! Weirdo. I'm hoping that when I lose a bit more I will have the confidence to wear it and I really do love the top. It's probably not massively tight, I never wear fitted clothes, I just don't like it because it shows my back flab! haha Need to get toning.

Carolwithane · 01/08/2018 20:06

Struggled a wee bit with my fast day today but just had my dinner and probably coming in about 700 cals!

No more fasting until Monday Smile Just mindful eating, tracking on MFP and hopefully will keep my steps up. DP is away to Portugal for the weekend so it's just me and the baby. Must resist snack temptation..........

onemouseplace · 01/08/2018 20:07

I've had a good day today - slightly under my calories for the day, but slightly over for the week so far which I can live with.

I was bloody hungry by about 6pm though and mainlining water until it was time for dinner.

Allycumpooster · 01/08/2018 20:22

Not having a good day today. After a few days of feeling full after meals for several hours, I’ll just couldn’t feel satisfied at all today. I am always over my calorie budget but it doesn’t seem to matter as I still lost 5kg last month.
I have decided that I need to cheer myself up so have had 80g Ben and Jerry’s Blush that has taken me 180 calories over budget. I could mitigate that with some exercise but I just don’t have the energy today. The ice cream was lush though Grin

beforeihit30 · 01/08/2018 20:40

I can’t say calorie wise if I’ve done “well” today, as I can’t be bothered to figure out exact calories (!) so I’ve entered the nearest items in Fitbit’s food list. I’ve not been active yesterday or today as I’ve been unwell. However I’m eating well by my general principles - low carb, have only eaten until sated which has been twice a day, so I’m not worried. I want to be at a point where I eat well without having to log everything. DH doesn’t log anything, but is losing really well (typical!) so I’m also trying to be confident with the shift in our eating.

I’d love to join u. I go to the Maldives at Christmas and do not want to be miserable and embarrassed about my size! Currently 12st 9 having been 13st 5 and am only 5ft 4. I dream of being 9st 7 but would be happy if I was anything that started with a 10 so half a stone a month would be great!
I have just started at a boot camp in the mornings which has unfortunately made me hungry so I need to get a grip on the eating - 4 bags of crisps today is not going to help me achieve my goals!!! I am going to start by calorie counting but if I have no luck may need to try another technique (I can be a bit vague about the calories I consume Wink) so will read the thread with interest. Good luck everyone!

Threeminis · 01/08/2018 21:31

Have done ok food wise today, have also booked a session with a personal trainer next week.

I have 6 stone to lose to get to my goal.. I managed 6.5 stone in 9 months when I got married in 2014 (obviously it's all back in now 😭) so if I am for 7 lb a month I could hit my goal for my holiday in July next year.

JulianOfNorwich · 01/08/2018 21:51

Peach your calorie count is very low- in the region that isn't usually recommended without medical supervision. I think that's why MFP won't 'accept' it. Could you have something else e.g a nice bit of cheese to up your calories without upping your carbs???

Neenook · 01/08/2018 22:16

Joining you all...was 62.5kg this am - would like to get back down to 59kg by end of Aug. I generally use MFP and go to the gym or spin classes twice a week. I have quite a sedentary job, so try to stay under 1200cals. will weigh in tomorrow for accuracy as I've just had a curry!

Neenook · 01/08/2018 22:17

58kg not 59!

Foreverlexicon · 02/08/2018 08:37

I didn’t have the best first day - I was good all day apart from a treaty breakfast (friend had been to Holland and brought me back some hagelslaag and vlokken - essentially chocolate sprinkles on toast!)

Lunch and dinner were good - I had falafel, flatbread, hummus and carrot sticks for lunch then hairy dieters beef stroganoff with a little bit of rice and green beans for dinner.

Had some plans I was looking forward to cancelled and comfort ate some chocolate and a flatbread with a falafel so a bit cross with myself for that.

Dieting can be a struggle for me as I can get obsessive and the last few days I’ve been badly craving chocolate and the only way for me to not spiral back into bad habits is to just give in - it’s a different feeling to ‘oh I want chocolate’ and avoiding going down that route is much more important to me than losing weight but it is frustrating when that voice has been dormant for a month!

Hoping now I’m back at work I’ll get back in my good routine and be too busy to worry about food!

I am going for an early dinner with someone I’m sort of dating so will try and make healthy choices!

Shedders · 02/08/2018 08:57

Hi all,
Had a good first day yesterday, food went to plan and didn't snack. fingers crossed for today to go to plan too. Had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast. Thinking chicken thigh's with salad for lunch (does anyone know if I can have the flavored ones from the hot counter) then pork chops with broccoli, asparagus and a grating of hard cheese. Wishing you all a great day :)

OublietteBravo · 02/08/2018 09:09

Yesterday went OK. I did an hour of circuit training, and ate some of my exercise calories (I usually try not to).

So far today I’ve had 2 crumpets and a cup of tea for breakfast. I’m WFH, so my main challenge will be to avoid snacking and just stick to 3 meals.
