Following on from the ‘half a stone off in July’ thread - everyone welcome - we're hoping to lose 7lb in August (but any loss is a win!).

Any and all diets, approaches etc welcome, a place to check in, keep focused and encouraged.

Thanks lexi I’ve brought some total 5% is this the right stuff ?

Threeminis · 31/07/2018 19:16

30, thanks for the support.

I'm embarrassed to put my weight here, it's ALOT more than anyone else has stated.

Definitely going to try Lchf again, it worked really well for me In the past.

MuddyElephant · 31/07/2018 20:11

Can I join too please? Got two weddings in Sept which I need to shift some extra pounds which have been creeping on. Facing the scales in the am 😐

Carolwithane · 31/07/2018 21:48

Hey all I'm definitely in - if I'm not too late!

I need to lose 75lbs to get into the upper range of a healthy BMI according to the NHS website Blush

I've been heavier but also been lighter! Tbh I've always been overweight and it's crept back up since having DS in Dec

I do the 5:2 diet. Last week was my first week back on plan and I lost 4lbs.

Hoping for a stone/stone and a half off before going to back to Budapest at the end of Sept and 2 stone off by Xmas. Rest of the weight by next summer

7lbs in a month sounds achievable and breaks it down into managable chunks!

Fasted yesterday and did 10,000 steps. Fasting again tomorrow and eating healthily on non fast day (trying to anyway). Trying to incorporate a wee bit of exercise as well

Allycumpooster · 31/07/2018 22:37

Hi, I’d like to sidle in and sit at the back please. I am a bit of a lurker on these threads but I know it’s not great form Blush.
I have been calorie counting since the beginning of July and it is working surprisingly well for me. I have tried low carb diets and it worked well too but I couldn’t sustain it. I like brownies too much. With calorie counting I can have a brownie if I save calories elsewhere, I like the idea of it even if in reality I usually would just rather have a filling healthy meal than one brownie Grin,
I am using Noom to keep track of things and keep me motivated.

FiveShelties · 31/07/2018 22:57

Weight is 10st 1.8pounds and I really wanted to be 9st 12lbs for my flight on 8th August, I cannot see that happening but I would love to end August at a similar weight. I usually manage to put on around 7lbs over the month when I return to UK - I keep gaining the same half stone - stupid really.

Planning to log everything on MFP, a minimum of 10K steps a day and not too much wine.

Good Luck everyone

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 31/07/2018 22:58

Thank you.@WhenDoISleep and @Peach for the mfp info.

@Rabbitmap I am very impressed by the 11/2 st weight loss in 2 months. What's your secret?

Wizzwazzwas · 31/07/2018 23:03

Hello

Can I join too? I am currently just over 73kg (about 11 stone 8lb) and BMW now under 28. I have lost over 2 stone already since Feb, and have about a stone until I am no longer overweight.

Would like to get down to 11stone or less by the end of the month, but am away on hols, so will be a challenge!

Well done to everyone in all the good progress and we can do it!

JulianOfNorwich · 31/07/2018 23:20

I'd like to join you all. I lost 12lbs in June and 7lbs in July. Moderate carbs within 1200 calories (I'm very sedentary).
Using MyFitnessPal has been the key for me - I'm the kind of person who likes to keep records of stuff, enjoys a bit of data (!) so it's very motivating for me to meet daily calorie targets, record grams of carbs, and see graphs of weight loss!!!
I really want to stick at it through August. I can't imagine I'll be able to do it when summer ends and the weather turns colder. Rocket and pepper salad with a bit of cold salmon won't get me through a cold October evening.

fannyanddick · 31/07/2018 23:35

Ooh I'd like to join too. Been trying to loose weight for a bit but not quite got the momentum up yet.

beforeihit30 · 01/08/2018 00:23

@Threeminis Flowers no need to share here anyway, but we’ll be here to encourage and celebrate any losses, changes, non scale victories Smile

There’s quite a few LCHF-ers on here too, I’ve picked up quite a few tips Smile (I’m a newbie to it)

What is lchf?

Lexilooo · 01/08/2018 07:07

Low Carb High Fat 😉

If you are interested the diet doctor website explains everything really well.

So anyway, weighed myself this morning and have maintained from yesterday so 86.1kg starting weight for me.

Iamtheresurrection · 01/08/2018 07:11

Ok, 170.2 this morning. The only way is down...

Shedders · 01/08/2018 07:32

@lexiloo sorry is the total 5% the right yogurt to eat ? I brought some to work with blueberries for breakfast so hoping its the right one. Start weight for me is 211 pounds and am excited to think I could be 7 less than that by the end of August :) lunch is chicken tomatoes and cucumber with a bit of cheese and dinner will be Steak with stir fry veg and maybe some haloumi. Really really new to this low carb thing so hoping someone will tell me if i'm doing something wrong. Someone suggested a low carb bread. One slice for breakfast etc is this allowed or a big no no :)

eltsihT · 01/08/2018 08:05

I started the no s diet (no snacks, seconds or sweets (meaning pudding) except sometimes on Saturdays & Sundays) on Monday,

Monday went really well as I didn’t snack at all. Yesterday was ok. The kids wanted pancakes at 10am, so while making them aI found my self eating them too, so I just decided that was lunch. When the kids were in bed I was watching tv. I think this is my danger time as I was craving snacks and eyeing up the bad of pretzels. I did crack but just had 2 squares of lint dark chocolate. Hopefully can do better today!

Lougle · 01/08/2018 08:08

I'm in again. I've realised that I'm saying I've lost 8lbs 6oz on the other thread, but that isn't in July. That's overall since I started weighing in April. I've gone from 65.9kg (10st 5lbs) in April, to 63.7kg (10st) in July, to 62.1kg (9st 11oz) at the end of July. So overall only 1.6kg off in July itself. But I'm still pleased.

Today I weigh 61.8kg Grin I've broken the 62kg barrier. I had chips last night, too. So it will probably only last a day. But I'll be pleased while it's there.

For all the yoghurt lovers. My best gadget ever, is the Instant Pot electric pressure cooker. Not only can it make many, many healthy meals from scratch in a very short time, but it has a yoghurt setting. Take 4 pints of full fat milk, warm it slightly, add 2 teaspoons of live yoghurt, such as Yeo Valley natural yoghurt, stir, and press the yoghurt button, then 8 hours later you have yoghurt. If you then pour that yoghurt into a colander that is set over a saucepan with a thin tea towel inside it, and pop it in the fridge, a few hours later, you have your very own Greek yoghurt. You can start the next batch of yoghurt from the previous batch, then. Just get another 4 pints of milk and once you've warmed it slightly, stir in some of your homemade yoghurt, then hit the yoghurt button - another batch is on the way. That makes a whole batch of Greek yoghurt cost £1.10.

Harken53rig · 01/08/2018 08:13

Hello- I'm in please! I have much more than half a stone to lose but as pp said, it's much easier to think about short blocks.

I'm 40 in less than 18 months, so I have decided it is time to sort it all out and leave the mum body in my 30s!!

Peach6789 · 01/08/2018 08:36

Just weighed myself and my August start weight is 188.8lbs or 13st 6.8.

How often do all you lovely people weight yourselves? I've got into a habit of doing it every morning. I'm tempted to hide the scales and weigh myself at the end of the month, but I'll probably break haha.

I've cleared the fridge and going food shopping after some exercise and breakfast. Just going to do 30 min on some equipment at home, then oat bran made with water, a dash of almond milk and a blob of almond butter, which is my usual breakfast anyway. Not put it into MFP before so be interesting to see it calorie wise and a breakdown.

Any insiration for my shopping list or meal planning before I go?

Happinessisabook · 01/08/2018 08:42

So starting today at 78.6kg
Hoping to be about 73/74kg by the end of the month, but realistically more like 75kg.
I also go away for a few days this weekend which could be a problem haha!

Canwejustrelaxnow · 01/08/2018 08:50

I want to join too! I return to work in September and nothing in my work wardrobe fits. I need to look smart and in control as my work place is very judgey and has a blame culture. I need to look sharp and feel good.

I've been suffering with terrible anxiety too. This time I'm changing the way I eat. I want to try eating low carb and fresh food. I live on ready meals and have no clue how to cook so this will be a huge challenge. I live on bread too which I'm sure is the main culprit in making me bloated and sluggish.

On holiday for another week so might be a slow start.

Weight today 13 stone 9lbs. I'm 5'8".

Lexilooo · 01/08/2018 08:58

@shedders I'm not sure I buy the aldi one. Check how many grams of carb it has. @beforeihit30 might know she's LCHF too.

I would just ditch the bread, it is so high carb and calorie it really isn't worth it. It won't fill you up.

I thought giving bread up would be hard but I rarely miss it. That said sometimes it is difficult to avoid when eating out.

JulianOfNorwich · 01/08/2018 09:08

Peach I only weigh myself once a week. First thing on a Saturday morning. I do my only big exercise of the week on a Friday evening, so imagine I'm at my lightest the next morning before I eat or drink anything.
I didn't weigh myself last Saturday as I'd just got back from a week's holiday. I'd had carbs galore, takeaways and multiple bottles of rosé.
I thought I'd give myself another week back on the diet (moderate carbs, 1200 calories) before weighing myself, or it might be too demotivating if I've piled on the pounds...

Lexilooo · 01/08/2018 09:15

@peach I weigh myself daily in the morning. I'm finding it keeps me on track and accountable. Also if you have a slip you get back on track quickly

MuddyElephant · 01/08/2018 09:23

I faced the music this morning and 10st 10.8lbs far too much! Cutting out the sweet treats from today.

Have a great first day everyone 😁
