I'd recommend a fit bit, it's great for counting steps but also for the heart rate and exercise analysis.

It really motivates me when I lose weigh to see my resting heart rate decrease and I enter my weight and you get nice little graphs etc!

It has definitely made me move more and makes me want to get to 10k steps per day!

I'd like a proper fit bit @DaisyChops which did heart rate, sleep, exercise etc but I already have a watch on my left wrist & a pretty bracelet I wear 24/7 on my right. The main thing I want it to track is steps so hoping the Zip will work for me. Not getting it yet though. I start & fail so many times at the health kick & I don't want to waste £50 if it just gets left in a drawer

itsBritneyBeach · 18/07/2018 16:23

@happytobemrsg it's NOT going to be left in a drawer, as this time is for real!

happytobemrsg · 18/07/2018 17:34

I've been thinking.... I think you can follow people of MFP. Would anyone like to do that? Would be an extra incentive to stick to it this time. I'd like to be accountable to someone!

@itsBritneyBeach I'll definitely think about it!

happytobemrsg · 18/07/2018 17:47

^^ on MFP

DaisyChops · 18/07/2018 18:23

I'm not my MFP anymore since I got my Fitbit as I use that instead. Having used both I prefer the Fitbit as it converts your steps and exercise into calories burned and then it compares the calories burned to those consumed. But to be honest, I rarely compete a full day of food on any app as it's a bit tedious if you have made a meal from scratch!

You'd think I was on commission from fitbit wouldn't you 😂

happytobemrsg · 18/07/2018 19:30

Daisy I clearly don't cook enough from scratch Grin do you put calories consumed on the Fitbit app? Otherwise how does it know?

DaisyChops · 18/07/2018 19:40

Hi MrsG, yes, it has a section for food that is just like MFP. To be honest, I think it calculates my calories burned quite high as I often seem to consume less calories but i'm not the best at including everything!

happytobemrsg · 18/07/2018 21:53

I didn't stick to the 16:8 plan today because I ate strawberries, blueberries & low fat yogurt at 7:30 😞
But I'm still under my calorie goal so that's a win right?!

Opheliasgoldenwine · 18/07/2018 22:14

Just going to be honest about what I ate today:

Three cups of tea
One Diet Coke
12 strawberries
One dark ryvita with Philadelphia cheese (thin layer)
Prawn and mayo sandwich on brown bread
15 chips from DP's chips (normally I'd eat a large portion on my own, so I do feel like I'm restraining myself)

And that's it. Strawberries were breakfast, tea was throughout the day, Diet Coke and sandwich for lunch and the rest for dinner. That's probably really bad as A) not enough possibly? (Then again, I wouldn't know what was enough) and B) I'm still eating things like chips when I know I really shouldn't be Sad

Howareya123 · 18/07/2018 22:38

Sounds like it's not enough @Ophelia! I'm a disaster.. I ate carrot cake and everything today!! I'm wondering would the fitbit motivate me a bit more, or like someone said would I just hide it in a drawer somewhere😂

itsBritneyBeach · 18/07/2018 22:50

All I had today was a small pizza from Pizza Hut 😭 naughty I know but we were celebrating my brother's new karate belt! And usually I could polish off a large 😂

Still within my calories but it's crap to eat 🤷🏻‍♀️

Opheliasgoldenwine · 18/07/2018 22:54

@How I just worry that I don't hit my steps, only did 8000 today and it's the first day properly, plus the chips are really fatty, so I thought I should probably leave it at that? Also, do people agree that it takes 30 days to break a habit or not?

DaisyChops · 18/07/2018 23:10

Mmmmm Pizza Hut!! You're making me hungry Smile

Before I say I been good today, just remember I have had the most hideous last 2 days which included a big tasty from McDonalds when I should have got a happy meal.

I guess that's my problem, I am one extreme or the other, there is no happy medium with my eating!

I made the sweet and sour chicken from the hairy dieters book, only problem was that I put 1/2 table spoon of chilli flakes in instead of 1/2 teaspoon so it was on fire!! It's only 240 calories or so plus rice so not bad, especially if you go for slim rice or whatever it's called.

Then at 10pm I've just got off the couch and did day 1 of the 30 day shred, it nearly killed me but so glad I have started it rather than just talking about it like I have for the last month!

Not meaning to be smug (as I will prob be back at mcd tomorrow with some far fethched justification) here but trying to say that even if you have had a bad day just start again tomorrow!

DaisyChops · 18/07/2018 23:13

Ophelias you have doubled your steps today so that's really good!!! If you can do that every day it's a massive improvement so I think you've done really well for day 1 👏👏👏👏

I honestly don't think I have ever broken a habit, I do something for a few weeks, like SW, and say it's a way of life but I never really stick to it

Opheliasgoldenwine · 18/07/2018 23:19

Thank you Daisy ❤️

itsBritneyBeach · 18/07/2018 23:28

Same here, I'm so up and down and yes @Opheliasgoldenwine you are doing so well! I did 300 steps today Grin

Ethiopianflower · 19/07/2018 07:55

I was thinking of you guys yesterday evening when I was out in a friend’s for dinner and when it came to desert I forced myself to pass on the warm home made chocolate brownies and cheese cake and has the fruit instead. I deserved a bleedin’ Medal 🥇!!!!😂😂

happytobemrsg · 19/07/2018 08:47

@Ethiopianflower you DO deserve a medal!!

So many steps @Opheliasgoldenwine. I hadn't heard of the 30 day thing. I've only ever manage to stick to a diet for 3 weeks - maybe that's why Grin don't worry too much about the chips. I try to remember how I felt AFTER I ate the chips/chocolate/crisps & use that as motivation next time.

Mmmmm I love Pizza Hut @itsBritneyBeach there is a collection place about 100m from my road. It's hard walking past it!

Can't believe you've started the Shred @DaisyChops you're my hero

DaisyChops · 19/07/2018 09:18

EF, well done, I'm impressed, I don't think I'd have been that strong and would have asked for a slither instead of a slice!

I've been buying Valsoia soya ice cream sandwiches, they are only about 60 calories and are gorgeous! You wouldn't know it was soya ice cream! They are a necessity in this weather! I had an ice pop yesterday and that was 40 calories so might as well stick to the ice cream as sooooo much better!

I am feeling the effect of the shred today, my legs are in agony!!

Opheliasgoldenwine · 19/07/2018 09:26

Daisy did you buy the dvd or do you follow the YouTube videos?

DaisyChops · 19/07/2018 09:48

I used to do it on utube but they keep taking the videos down so I downloaded it on amazon video so I can watch it on the tv or use the kindle / iPad aswell, I think it was only about £4 to download.

Opheliasgoldenwine · 19/07/2018 11:05

Do people want to have a weekly weigh in to encourage each other? Up to you all Smile

itsBritneyBeach · 19/07/2018 11:21

I'll be weighing in sporadically Grin
