Fuck I'm so fed up with being fat. I look and feel disgusting. Does anybody else feel this way? It's time for me to take control.

Today I am starting my 'new me' regime. I've literally had enough of looking like this. Nothing fits me. I look a mess, a fat mess. Grin

Have you ever tried planning your food for the next day and setting it out or in the fridge, and only eating what is there?

I.e. your breakfast measured out using baggies or tupperware, your mid morning snack in a baggie, your lunch in a container, your mid afternoon snack in a baggie, your dinner ditto, and an evening snack too..

It can be really comforting to look at it all in the morning and to know that it really looks like enough. You can set out your multivitamin/mineral supplement alongside and feel good that you are looking after yourself.

At night you can repeat a mantra of gratitude for the good food you have been given that day.

I think sugar is the key. If you can go three weeks without it you have cracked it. I ate pickles to help when I wanted to snack, onions and peppers, beetroot etc.... Weird what gets you through it. I am addicted to sugar so have no sweet snacks in the house and I am losing 3pounds per week quite easily. I had to be in the right frame of mind though, a few months ago I couldn't have done it. I stick to 1320cals per day which is OK if it doesn't involve croissants or sweetie!!!

flamingofridays · 29/06/2018 09:12

I need to stop weighing - apparently I am 2lbs heavier today than I was yesterday.

I am getting a bit demoralised especially considering I have been working out 5 nights a week and can see / feel absolutely no difference (Although its only been 2 weeks :/)

butterybollocks · 29/06/2018 09:44

I had gestational diabetes so went almost completely sugar free then - absolutely no fruit etc. There are things you can try to ease the sugar cravings without impacting your blood sugar levels... Choc Shot hot chocolate/milkshakes, a few squares of dark choc, protein brownies made with stevia/xylitol, frijj zero milkshakes. I'm trying to reduce sugar as much as possible, as well as all carbs. Whitebait, grilled courgettes and half a small jacket potato for lunch today.

moonbells · 29/06/2018 10:43

Suggestion: try something you've never eaten before at least once a week. You may end up with a whole load of stuff you really like which fits into weight loss and which can then be enjoyed after you get to your goal.

Also makes supermarket shopping more fun.

Tip for sugar replacement: you can now get these little tiny squeezy bottles of sucralose-sweetened squash concentrate such as Squash'd. I use them for yoghurts, instant porridge and the like.

Boysmomma · 29/06/2018 10:46

I only went off and got myself a fitbit so tracking steps and food on that! It's helping me be honest with what I'm eating. Can I set this so they delete the info when I die? the shame now of anyone reading that is too much!

The sugar cravings are killing me, so last night I attacked the kids treat bin in the cupboard. I wasn't hungry, i just wanted it. Anyone have an extra willpower lying around?

moonbells · 29/06/2018 10:58

Use My Fitness Pal rather than FitBit to track food; their database is much much larger. You can link them so exercise registered on one offsets the other.

Boysmomma · 29/06/2018 11:16

Thanks moonbells! I'll do that!

eloisesparkle · 29/06/2018 11:22

I am sick of being overweight.
A fat blob.
I envy the willpower of others.
I even tried hypnosis but it didn't work.
The hypnotist mightn't have been very good though. I might go to another who has had great results.
I didnt find Slimming World easy to work out. Hmm
I am a stone and a half overweight. Sad

Eesha · 29/06/2018 11:25

I've been tempted by slimming world having heard success stories. I only really eat one meal a day but can't see how people lose weight on SW when you can eat so much. I'm sure it works but I'm too dim to figure it out!!

dustarr73 · 29/06/2018 11:37

I had a burger out of Burger King yesterday.I only ate half of it when i realised the calories.

So i had 500 calories left over yesterday. Can i use them on Saturday for a few drinks.

flamingofridays · 29/06/2018 12:05

anyone ive known to do slimming world has lost the weight but gained it all back, and in my experience it promotes sugary crap and theres too much "hacking" to be done (like making sweets out of yoghurt and cakes out of Weetabix - gross)

FurForksSake · 29/06/2018 12:58

I am following SW but not eating sugary crap or doing the hacks. The basic principle is sound, you limit junk and fat and 1/3 of each meal should be speed food (fruit and veg of certain types). It means you fill up on low calorie foods and eat less of other things. It does work, but some people are desperate to keep eating non-foods and that really doesn't work IME.

eloisesparkle · 29/06/2018 13:42

What are the speed foods Fur ?

FurForksSake · 29/06/2018 14:06

pinchofnom.com/slimming-world-speed-food-list/ and every day you have a healthy extra a and b choice too,
fatgirlskinny.net/slimming-world-healthy-extra-b-list/
fatgirlskinny.net/slimming-world-healthy-extra-a-list/

There are masses of free foods that you use to make meals and then anything else has a syn value, you can have up to 15 syns a day. I use mine for butter, sauces and honey when I make meals. You can use them how you like, but I prefer to use them on meals than treats. Most days I only have a couple to allow for the days I am eating out and inevitably go over.

daughterofanarchy · 29/06/2018 14:35

Haven’t read the whole thread OP but I’m
In the same boat. Severe PND and comfort eating has ruined my life the last few years. I feel disgusting and like a bloated pig. Anyway I wish you luck moving forward

eloisesparkle · 29/06/2018 15:05

Thank you Fur you are so helpful.
On the first link re fruit and vegetables is it the food written in different colour ink the speed food or is it all of the foods on the list ?

FurForksSake · 29/06/2018 17:09

All of those are speed, the colours are links to their recipe archive. Loads of great recipes on there.

user764329056 · 29/06/2018 21:19

Thanks for everyone’s great input, some really good ideas here, I think so much of making successful changes will be down to planning and making sure I have the right food at home rather than just grabbing something quick and easy which invariably won’t be a healthy choice, you’re all really kind and helpful xx

Eesha · 29/06/2018 22:14

So I have a real issue with wasting food, promptly finished off a birthday cake, now feeling like I'm going to be really sick. A lesson learnt, I don't know why I treat my body this way

FurForksSake · 29/06/2018 22:25

You really shouldn't feel bad, do look up the eat like a normal person blog, it is helpful. I have realised that my body is not a dustbin, I need to nurture and respect it. Better to offer the cake to a neighbour or stick it in the compost than in me (after a slice!).

keiratwiceknightly · 29/06/2018 22:39

Had the most difficult day in a long time today. My lovely lovely friend committed suicide a couple of weeks ago and today was her funeral. It was hard. Weight and weight loss matters v little on day like this - she had recently lost 3.5 stone on slimming world and for what?

Just try and be nice to yourselves. X

eloisesparkle · 30/06/2018 07:16

Thanks again Fur.
That's some list of 'speed foods'

Eesha · 30/06/2018 08:12

@FurForksSake well I was sick in the night so serves me right!

FurForksSake · 30/06/2018 13:10

:( I have been there, I once ate most of a Costco sheet cake, I love it. I have come to realise that I can't stop eating it as my body doesn't recognise it as food so I just shovel it in until suddenly I feel like I will explode. You are not alone.
