Thanks greedypiglet Smile

Hello all. Sorry to hear of your bad back frustratedashell Sad Is that what you're off work with? I have problems with a grumpy disc (as my wonderful osteopath calls it) and gentle stretches help when I remember to do them

I had a sneaky post-hol weigh this morning and miraculously stayed the same. I'm still the heaviest I've been in years tho, and so fed up of opening my wardrobe each morning and only being able to fit into half of my clothes.

I slipped up at lunchtime as had two slices of brown toast with my poached eggs, ham and tomoatoes. Was only meant to have one, but 4yo didn't want his second slice so I had it Hmm I've got such an issue with wasting food/eating leftovers it's unreal.

Tired and grumpy today so looking forward to getting the kids into bed then will run an bath and have an early night.

Prawn stir-fry and rice for dinner tonight...what is everyone else having?

SlinkyB · 11/06/2018 16:33

theedgeofthecloud you're not alone with that cycle. I too think bread and/or sugar leads me to eat more and more. But they're so lovely! Angry

greedypiglet · 11/06/2018 18:57

Well that's another day done food wise. I have been ok today so feeling quite positive.

The weather had been so nice here today. I spent a lot of the day pottering in the garden.

How are you all doing?

theedge I hope that you managed to climb back on the wagon today after your 36hour blip Grin

My kitchen is closed now. I’ve not had bread since I started and I do think it makes a difference to my appetite. I’ve still had cravings (as I proved yesterday) but they haven’t been those all consuming cravings where I’ve said ‘screw it. I’ll start my diet again tomorrow’ and then never do.
My appetite/cravings are so much more tempered and I’m sure it’s linked to giving up bread. I think this also means that I should never bread again. Ever.
My food for today was
Dairy free yoghurt
Mango
Grapes
Chicken curry and lentil
Crisps
Some more chicken curry and lentil
A portion pot of dairy free cheesecake.

Not the best or the worst day.

frustratedashell · 11/06/2018 19:53

Thanks slinky, I was a self employed cleaner but I've got a new job starting on 2nd July. On Saturday I took the decision to close down the cleaning business, so technically I'm unemployed till July. It had to be done. I've got some more pain killers now and feel better today. Diet isn't going too bad

KatharineHilbery · 11/06/2018 20:19

Today: muesli for breakfast; mid-morning healthy snack of 1 slice white bread and two handfuls of pretzels; lunch quinoa bowl with goat’s cheese; more pretzels; two glasses of wine.
I think my enemies might accuse me of dysfunctional eating.
I am so sick of snacking on crap and then not feeling I’m allowed proper meals. Maybe tomorrow...

SlinkyB · 11/06/2018 20:29

KatharineHilbery you are not alone! Tho I snack on crap and have the proper meals.

B: 2 x Weetabix with a small.handful of raisins
S: small jelly pot
L: two pieces of toast, two poached eggs, two slices ham, sprinkling of cheddar and tomatoes.
S: small bag of frazzles Confused
D: big bowl of rice and quinoa with prawn stir fry. Bowl of blueberry yoghurt with strawberries and raspberries.

I'm now hungry again ! Angry So sick of being obsessed with food all the time.

Doje · 11/06/2018 20:45

Another day done. Not the healthiest as it included a home made brownie and 3 squares of dairy milk, but not bad at 71 calories over.

Rainbowblume · 11/06/2018 20:47

Hi all. frustrated I too have a bad back and I've had a microdiscectomy. Now I have to also do regular stretching or I can not get out of bed. Hope you find relief soon.

Today's food.
B. Banana, roll with butter and marmite
L. 1 Portion of sausage anf veg casserole and brown rice
D. Salad, lambs lettuce, tomato, beetroot, carrot, cucumber, few pine nuts, kohlrabi with half a corn on the cob with butter and 60g halloumi.

Drinks: Water, 1 yogi tea. 2 coffees with milk and one sugar.

Exercise.15 minutes yoga. 9000 steps walking.

Eating lunch outside in the garden helped. In bed now hiding from the cake.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 11/06/2018 21:50

B: Porridge pot
L: M&S superfood salad with goat’s cheese and hummus; apple
D: Fish and chips from chipper Blush

In my defence it was a small portion! MFP has fish and chips as anywhere from 500-900 calories, so I split the difference and called it 700 calories. So I may still be under my calorie allowance, or I may be 125 over. Either way, not bad!

frustratedashell · 11/06/2018 22:13

Thanks rainbow, what's a micro where it?

ZetaPuppis · 11/06/2018 23:45

I’ve just arranged to go on a weekend away with a friend at the start of the school holidays.
I would love to have lost at least a stone by the 20th July! Please say it’ll happen (fingers crossed emoticon)
She’s slim and I haven’t seen her for a year.

Narkle · 12/06/2018 05:24

ZetaPuppis It knocks your confidence somwhat, knowing that you meet people and wondering whether they'll secretly judge your size, doesn't it? I've been avoiding a few meet-ups for that very reason.

Had a bit of a bad start to the week with far too much sugar, but determined to jump back on the wagon today. I'm currently really unhappy at work and counting down the days until it ends (I've found a new job and have resigned a few months back now - the wait seems endless), so I am over-using caffeine-based sugary drinks and chocolate to keep me going.

Anyone else having problems with digital scales? I find it really hard not to weigh myself daily when I'm trying to lose weight, but my scales appear to jump by several pounds every day. I've apparently gone from 10st 1 straight to 10st 6 in a day and haven't even consumed 5lb's worth of food in a day Hmm...

Rainbowblume · 12/06/2018 06:11

frusrated internet explains better than me. One of my discs leaked it's nucleus to press on a nerve in 3 places. It was awful

Microdiscectomy, also sometimes called microdecompression or microdiskectomy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed on patients with a herniated lumbar disc. During this surgery, a surgeon will remove portions of the herniated disc to relieve pressure on the spinal nerve column.

cmcc22 · 12/06/2018 07:21

@Narkle I'm with you on the digital scales I might throw mine in the bin.

Yesterday morning I was delighted to see 12 stone 3 - an overall drop of 5lbs - stood on this morning after an "alright" day yesterday and 12 stone 9 - a gain of 6 from yesterday - surely that's not possible!!!!

I'm going to try and stay off them till Friday and hope is some sort of blip

AsAProfessionalFekko · 12/06/2018 07:33

Maybe there's a level of water detention and (sorry) how much you poo that causes jumps in weight.

Balloondog · 12/06/2018 07:52

@cmcc22 @Narkle I completely agree! I had a rubbish day yesterday and had gained despite being strict all week - was ready to pack it all in. Then went to my weigh in to be told I'd lost 3.5lb! This morning I weighed myself - still 74.6 kg, changed the direction of the scales and weighed in again 30 seconds later at 73.3kg!! Digital scales are definitely sent to try us...

greedypiglet · 12/06/2018 08:01

I had my scales repaired under the warranty a year or so ago because they kept showing completely different weights. I was told that the biggest reason for inaccurate readings on scales is because they are being moved. I was advised to put the scales on a hard floor (never carpet) and do not move them at all. I used to keep mine upright behind the bathroom sink and drag them out when I wanted to us them. Since not moving them they have been fine. Might be worth a try. They can also act up if the battery is getting low.

theedgeofthecloud · 12/06/2018 09:01

Had a much better day yesterday and this thread really has been the difference between saying f* it after having a bad day (my usual MO) and getting back on the straight and narrow, so thank you.

Yesterday's intake:

B: Strawberries, handful walnuts, natural yoghurt.
L: 20g cashews, half a tin of tuna, donut peach.
D: Vegetable rice salad (with more veg than rice): Chick peas, peppers, cucumber, chicory, avocado, feta, brown/wild rice, tons of fresh herbs, olive oil, lemon.
Exercise: Barre class

I also drank gallons of water (left in a jug with cucumber and mint - very refreshing).

Breakfast this morning was salmon, edamame, quinoa and beetroot salad bowl and an oat cake, lunch is leftover veg rice from last night. Out for a drink after work so need to watch myself later....

Zeta - I've got a big night out on 20th July, also with friends I haven't seen for a while, so am also focusing on that as an interim target too Smile

Balloondog · 12/06/2018 09:54

@ZetaPuppis Sorry this took so long, I'd completely forgotten but here's the recipe I used for the firecracker chicken -from 'Pinch of Nom' website.

pinchofnom.com/recipes/half-syn-firecracker-chicken-slimming-world/

ZetaPuppis · 12/06/2018 10:52

Narkle I avoid social events with people I haven’t seen in a while as I know they’ll be shocked when they see me. I used to be slim, attractive with lovely swishy, flowy hair.
Now, I’m overweight, frumpy and my hair is dry from the dye I use and thin as it seems to fall out loads.

TheEdge I think we can definitely lose a fair bit of weight by then. I need to stay on that wagon.

Thanks Balloon. Wagamamas firecracker prawns is my favourite dish ever. I’m going to try that recipe.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 12/06/2018 11:22

Narkle, I've been weighing daily on digital scales so that I can see the variation - if I weighed once a week and it was a randomly high point, I would be really cross, but if I weigh daily I will hopefully be able to see a general downward trend. In theory!

greedypiglet · 12/06/2018 14:17

In Aldi a couple of weeks ago they were selling talking scales. Really wished I bought them now. I think it would be quite cool having your scales call out your weight. Grin

Sorry Lidl not Aldi!
