Part of the problem for me is that lots of food - you simply don't know what the calorie value is or the points value or what.

Eg I like going to a local cafe that does their own version of the pot noodle - lots of noodles, chicken and veg but no idea what the calories are but it seems healthy....?

And we as a team are always doing work lunches in restaurants for someone's birthday / retirement / maternity leave / any excuse

I like burgers, chicken, noodles, steak, pork, lamb, fast food!, cadbury's, cadbury's, cadbury's, cheese and onion crisps, wheetabix, cornflakes, white bread, chinese food, chippy, peanuts, strawberries, satsumas, grapes, potatoes, carrots, peppers....can't think of anything else at the moment.

I don't like cheese, pizza, fish (except haddock), shellfish, pasta (just noodles), curry, most veg

its quite hard to know where to start

Doje · 04/06/2018 20:28

Right, back on it after a boozy birthday weekend. Came in under my MFP calories today, and did a 3k run. #smugface

EmmaGrundyForPM · 04/06/2018 20:42

well done everyone. Today I had 2 hardboiled eggs for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch then went to the gym after work for 2 hours Just got in and eaten 5 cherry tomatoes, some low-carb bread which I made at the weekend, and a small piece of brie. No snacks although I was very tempted!

Now to keep up the good work for the remainder of the week.

cmcc22 · 04/06/2018 21:50

Evening all. Sounds like everyone is doing well so far

I've been ok today for working at home, which is when I usually struggle.

No breakfast
Hummus and veg with 3 crackers for lunch
No dinner - too busy rushing about
Lots of water
Just about to have some cereal with almond milk and fruit before bed

Hoping for good result on Friday

notsusan · 04/06/2018 22:00

well done all, sounds like a half-decent start for most of us.

I was ok Saturday but lapsed slightly with DD's bday yesterday, although have now managed to give away all remaining cake and treats.

haven't had too much to eat today and very minimal carbs.

B: latte (not sure if semi-skimmed or full ). Completely agree with all those who find skipping breakfast makes me less hungry

L: 5 jerk chicken drumsticks (there was some party food left over, if not cake...). Couple of veggies pulled out of veg lasagne.

D: small plate of rice and curry goat with cucumber and tomatoes

No snacks, and resisted banana bread at friends house (hurrah!)

I agree with poster who mentioned confusion over calories. I feel like I have no clue about these things apart from obvious stuff like cake.

Drank lots of water (well, squash), esp while breast feeding.

P.s.
stevie - wow! well done you x

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/06/2018 22:09

Came in under calories on MFP (just!) but spent most of the afternoon starving. I think my body needs to adjust to smaller portions!

B: instant porridge pot
L: Ham sandwich, cucumber, weighed portion of crisps
D: Sausage and mash, banana.
3 cups of tea with milk and 2.25 litres of water.
Exercise: school run - 30 mins walk dragging 3yo.

JustLurkingAway · 04/06/2018 22:13

Pretty decent day here too. Came in under my calorie limit on MFP and didn't actually feel too hungry. Also did 20 minutes on the exercise bike.

Well done to everyone else!

Jellybellyjiggle · 04/06/2018 22:18

Can I join too please? I'm not following a plan as such but haven't had any cake, chocolate, crisps or biscuits for a week and have only been having fruit or veg for snacks. I lost 4lb last week but need motivation to keep going! Halo

Floralnomad · 04/06/2018 22:20

Well done everybody . I’ve had a reasonable day despite having lunch out
B : small bowl of bran flakes with 4 prunes
L: Nando’s butterfly breast / rice / coleslaw
D: nothing as lunch was fairly late . For snacks I’ve had 2 fruit gums and 2 small Lindt dessert chocolates . I always drink well over 2 litres of NAS lime squash per day . I’ve done 2 mega walks with the dog and trekked around Costco so good on the exercise front . On the downside I think I’ve got a UTI as I’m peeing blood so off to the drs tomorrow .

ZetaPuppis · 04/06/2018 22:36

My day wasn’t the best but I’ve had a headache all day and have been v hungry.
Porridge with frozen berries and some honey
Crisps. Oops
Home made minestrone soup
Brown rice noodles with some veg stir fry
Mango
Bit of cheese
6 almonds
Ice lolly

That seems like a lot all written down!

fcekinghell you could switch a lot of your stuff to be healthier. Some ideas are
Grilled chicken with whatever veg and a few boiled potatoes
Stirfry with chicken and veg
Grilled burger no bun with some homemade potatoes wedges and veg
Cadbury’s - switch to a freddo
Cut right down on bread. warburton thins could be good substitute.
Fruit for snacks and plenty of water.
The cafe lunch sounds ok
Meals out - find the healthiest options they have and eat lighter meals for the other meals that day.

ZetaPuppis · 04/06/2018 22:38

Flora that sounds horrible. Hope you get it sorted soon.

KatharineHilbery · 04/06/2018 22:47

Floral that sounds really grim. Good luck at drs.
So today: no breakfast; muesli and a banana for lunch; tomato soup and one piece of Whole Nut for dinner.
Starting to feel a bit more human.

melse2964 · 05/06/2018 02:36

Yessssss i Need to lose 4 stone i have a holiday next year ..do u guys think its doable xx

Narkle · 05/06/2018 04:39

melse, I once lost 4st in about 8 months, so it's definitely doable, but very much depends on your commitment.

Well done everyone else for your successes so far.

Yesterday was an okay day.
I had no breakfast other than my 1 energy drink.
Lunch was 1/2 chicken and cucumber sandwich with another energy drink (I had only had about 3h sleep the night before).
Dinner was a homemade chilli with very little meat; the rest were all sorts of veg in there.
Had a splitting headache for most of the day, but managed to resist a 3rd dose of caffeine. By the end of the week I should be able to have cut down to 1 a day. Getting rid of the last energy drink won't happen until the summer holidays, though - it's the one reason to drag myself out of bed.

30min cardio exercise first thing in the morning, same as today.

Today should be similar food-wise, but dinner will be slow-cooked pork with apple sauce and mash. Need to watch my portions on that one as I tend to just put the whole joint into the slow cooker and if I'm not careful I can easily eat enough for two.

greedypiglet · 05/06/2018 06:32

I have massively sinned.

Was so good yesterday and ate really healthily until my daughter came home at 10pm complete with Indian takeaway for her and me. I didn't have the heart to say no so I had a chicken tikka masala, nan bread, bhajis and three poppadoms and that yogurt dip. It was very nice but I massively regret it plus I have stomach ache today.

Feeling a failure today but I can't undo it so today is another day.

Sodding hell. Two bloody chocolate digestives while watching love island.

greedypiglet · 05/06/2018 07:05

Skoob I would call two biscuits a result. I wouldn't have been able to stop until I had eaten the whole pack. Grin

greedypiglet · 05/06/2018 07:08

Floral good luck at the doctors, I hope that you get it sorted quickly.

OP posts:
ltk · 05/06/2018 07:26

Ah, Greedy, you had a nice meal with your dd. Be happy for that, and maybe tell her next time you'd prefer a little sushi. Smile

Also amazed at Scoob's 2 digestive will power! I can have none, but once started I could not stop at 2.

greedypiglet · 05/06/2018 07:44

Itk thanks for that. I would be more annoyed with myself if I had eaten a truck load of chocolate.

OP posts:
TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 05/06/2018 08:19

floral, hope the dr sees you quickly!

Down 1.4lb this morning - only 26.6 to go! Sad

Are you all going for fast weight loss or a bit slower? I was aiming for 1lb a week but at that rate I’ll be here until Christmas. I think I might let my tummy accustom itself to the 1lb weight loss limit of 1440 calories a day before I try anything more draconian. I have a history of dieting and then binging so I don’t want to go back there!

KatharineHilbery · 05/06/2018 08:23

Likewise full of admiration for the two-biscuit peccadillo. In that situation I would inevitably say sod it and eat the whole packet.
piglet I have found that some sort of low-carbing really really helps in the Indian takeaway situation. You can eat the chicken tikka masala without guilt and feel virtuous in declining the rice, naan and poppadoms. That way you stay in control and avoid the vortex of self-loathing (or is that just me?)

Sierra259 · 05/06/2018 08:59

Quick checkin, hi everybody! Flora hope you're feeling ok and get sorted at the GP. I really want a chocolate digestive after reading this! Grin

Was pretty good over the weekend and yesterday.
B Cereal
L Leftover pulled pork with salad and an apple
D Spag bol with courgetti
Snacks: 2 oatcakes and 1 row cadbury whole nut (5 squares)
And 25 minutes on exercise bike.

Hope everyone has a good day.

WingsofNylon · 05/06/2018 09:20

Hello! I'm joining you all. I've put on a shocking amount int he last year. 85lbs! So I realise that it will probably take me double that to shift it, that's okay by me.

I also realise this doesn't happen if you are happy. I've been eating to cover pain and so along with the right food and exercise I am also seeking out therapy and finding activities that bring me joy.

Stay hydrated all.

amaygdala58 · 05/06/2018 10:38

Morning all

Managed exercise bike this am for 20 mins experimenting with bulletproof coffee like the idea that MCT oil is good for mental function - I’m 58 post menopausal stressful time looking after daughter with asd anxiety and school refusal do get lots of brain fogs- stomach gone a few queer somersaults but don’t feel queasy Smile weights later on in the day
