Anyone want to join me in sorting their shit out! 2.5 stones to lose and I'm starting tomorrow.

Had a meal replacement shake for brekkie. Should have one for lunch too - at work so see how it goes!

KatharineHilbery · 04/06/2018 08:41

Morning all! Turns out I don’t have sugar withdrawal but tonsillitis- ouch! Have antibiotics and total loss of appetite, which can only be a positive. God I feel crap though.

greedypiglet · 04/06/2018 08:41

Asa which meal replacement shakes are you using? I have had a tub of chocolate slimfast sat in the kitchen cupboard for a couple of years. Maybe I should give it a go whilst it's still in date.

Katherine sorry that you are poorly. At least you have got antibiotics so you should start to feel better quickly. In the meantime be grateful for your loss of appetite. Every cloud! Grin

Oh no Katharine. Hope you get better soon. Sounds horrible.

Im trying to not eat breakfast and wait til lunch but it was a struggle this morning. The kid’s toast smells so good. My excess weight is made mostly from marmite on toast (and crisps) so that’s what I need to cut out. But it’s hard 😭

KatharineHilbery · 04/06/2018 09:35

Thank you for messages of support!
zeta have you tried Marmite on rice cakes or does it have to be toast?

BirthdayKake · 04/06/2018 10:01

Get well soon Katharine!

Is is harder to lose weight if you don't "need" to? I'm a healthy BMI apparently, but would love to fit into my size 8 jeans again. That means losing half a stone...

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/06/2018 10:05

Please may I join? I’ve been trying to do No S (no sugar, no seconds, no snacks, except on days starting with an S) but apparently I can eat enough at weekends to negate any weekly efforts. Weighed this morning and I’ve gone up 3lbs. I did have a very alcoholic weekend, though - staying with my sister and some friends, lots of wine and prosecco and food - so I’m hoping that’s just bloat and will come off quickly.

I am 11 stone 8 and 5’2” (sigh). I feel spherical. I need to be 9 stone 11 to be in the healthy weight range. So 2 stone weight loss sounds about right as a starting goal. I’m aiming for 1lb a week, tracking calories on MFP, and will stick to the No S principles - snacks just use up meal calories!

itsBritneyBeach · 04/06/2018 11:37

I'm joining too. Been too many times but now I actually have to lose weight for the holidays 🤦🏻‍♀️

ZetaPuppis · 04/06/2018 11:42

Katharine I’ve never tried marmite on anything else. I think it’s the combination with hot buttered toast that’s really tempting!
I do like rice cakes though. Usually with cheese but marmite is probably better.

TooExtra your stats are similar to mine. Come and join us. We can do it Smile

frustratedashell · 04/06/2018 11:42

Oh Katherine that's shit! I had it early in the year with flu as well. The tonsilitis should go fairly quickly. Look after yourself .
My day is going well , I seem more focused this time. Thanks for all your support

greedypiglet · 04/06/2018 11:45

ItsBritney, hi and welcome. How long before you are off on holiday? How much weight do you need to lose?

JustLurkingAway · 04/06/2018 12:42

Managed not to snack at all this morning between breakfast and lunch...that's pretty good for me!

ClandestineAdulation · 04/06/2018 12:56

I feel like my downfall here is going to be snacking... not even because I’m hungry, but through boredom at work!

Any suggestions?

And well done JustLurkingAway!

StubbleTurnips · 04/06/2018 13:06

I always join these threads and vanish / lurk - but I too need a kick up the arse. Have started C25k with DSis this week and MFP.

Today's meals:
B: 1 weetabix & milk
L: hard boiled eggs and crudités
D: chicken broccoli sweetcorn with noodles
Sn: half a banana and 20g pistachios

In the day I'm not bad - it's evenings on the sofa are my downfall :(

BirthdayKake · 04/06/2018 13:14

B - apple
L - jacket potato with Laughing Cow light triangle and Weight watchers tuna and sweetcorn tin
S - skinny Latte (in a sachet!)

stevie69 · 04/06/2018 13:32

Hi everyone,

I've been truly humbled by your lovely comments for which I'd like to say a huge big thank you Blush I really just wasn't expecting it.

My reasons for joining the thread were twofold, really:

  1. to keep myself on the straight and narrow by joining in with the chat. AND, more importantly
  1. hopefully to offer some encouragement to everyone else

I'm a normal woman, with a normal job, a normal life, doing normal stuff. I didn't take any diet pills and, to offer a bit of hope, I didn't do any significant exercise during the years I was losing weight.

@pigpoglet you did specifically ask about the exercise. As above, I didn't do anything noteworthy during the weight loss period but once I hit target, I started going to the gym and now lift heavy (ish) weights three or four times a week which has helped with toning and muscle definition. Again, I do the basic core lifts —deadlifts, squats, bench press — nothing complicated. You don't need a fancy gym — I'm a member at our local Xercise4Less at £9.99 per month.

I'm neither an expert in nutrition nor a personal trainer — I'm a chartered accountant (desperately seeking to become a lion tamer Wink) — but I've been through this and if I can help in any way then I will.

I wish you all every success Smile and I'm here if you need anything. I fell off the wagon plenty of times along the way Blush

pigpoglet · 04/06/2018 13:44

Thanks @stevie69 .. it's the skin that concerns me and you don't appear to have any . Doing weights afterwards wouldn't have changed that so I guess you were just lucky 🤗🤗

MiniDoofa · 04/06/2018 14:00

Can I join?! Smile
I’ve got at least 1.5 stone to lose. Been on WW but not stuck to it and then lose faith in it.
I’ve started C25k. Am up to week four, actually enjoying it (once I get out). No weight loss from it but do def feel fitter.
Plan to drink more water, eat more veg, cut back on drinks. (Well, stick to g and slimline t, save wine for fri night. )
Are we still weighing in Fridays?

theedgeofthecloud · 04/06/2018 14:18

Thank you for starting this thread. Late to the party but would like to join in. 5ft 4 and 11.5 stones and would like to lose 2 of them. Finding it harder now I'm late 40s. Spend a lot of time looking after ageing parents whose house is crammed full of goodies. I don't eat meat but do eat fish and am going to try and stick to the principle of 'Eat real food, not too much, mostly plants'. I am also setting myself a daily goal (which will change each day, I need the variety and it will feel like I'm starting afresh each morning). Today's is I will: not eat sugar or bread today (I'm going with 'I will' rather than 'I won't').

I am often good on a diet at the start of the week, then it all goes downhill by Thursday, mostly due to wine and pasta...Food today:

B: Cashews and blueberries
L: Salad of avocado, cherry tomatoes, small piece of cheese, potato.
D: Home made tomato and lentil soup, with lots of veggies in it.

Have signed up for my first Barre class tonight at the gym too Grin

Thanks everyone.

Welcome Theedge and Mini.

How do you deal with disappointment on the scales?! Literally just jumped on and I’m a stone heavier than I thought I was Shock

greedypiglet · 04/06/2018 18:49

Clandestine have you got your scales on a hard floor? Weighing yourself with scales on carpet always makes the weight much higher.

OP posts:
ClandestineAdulation · 04/06/2018 18:57

Yes greedypiglet Blush

I really haven’t been looking after myself lately, knowing where to start is so hard.

itsBritneyBeach · 04/06/2018 19:29

@greedypiglet one in a few weeks.. no hope! And then one in September with a few friends which I'm hoping to lose at least a stone by!
