I am apparently 200g up, which is pretty much as I expected after my birthday weekend. I'm becoming Mystic Quim about my weigh-ins, I tend to be able to predict them with pretty impressive accuracy based on the week I've had.

BUT I've just looked at my calendar and it's a fucking disaster Shock In the next 6 weeks I've only got ONE week where I don't have mid-week socialising scheduled! How the fuck has this happened?!!!! I'm already almost a kilo up on my Goal Weight, it'll be over 2 kilos by the end of June!

Why must this always happen? The odd week here or there is fine, I can redress the damage afterwards, but it always seems to be plain sailing for a while and then two months on the trot of meals out and general debauchery.

Oh well, maybe July will be my month...!

Hoolahoophop · 18/05/2018 11:58

Swings and roundabouts.....id take the weight gain if it came with actual socialising, mid Week or weekend, rather than from stress eating home alone. Sad

My time will come. Wink

Softpebbles · 18/05/2018 12:04

Just checking in. Still hanging on to the wagon. Having too much sugar. Have been logging everything on MFP.

Down to 10st 5 1/8th 🙄 Did hit 10st 4 last weekend.

Have a great holiday BOOP. Quim enjoy having a good social calendar. When is your birthday party where you will rock your Karen Millen dress.

FizzingWhizzbee · 18/05/2018 12:15

Back down to 12st 7.4 this morning, which I'm pretty chuffed about. My average is 12st 8.3 for the week, which is 1lb down on last week. I'm pretty chuffed. It's been so hard but I've kept at it. It didn't feel like I was getting anywhere, but clearly I was.

Quim, you are truly the Oracle! I agree with every word of your not-at-all-rambling post. The key for me is to find that sweet spot where my calories are restricted enough that I lose weight but not so much that I feel constantly deprived and hungry and therefore cheat. I'm coming to realise that that means I need to accept that this is going to take a loooong time. And you know what? I'm okay with that. If it takes me 2 years to shift what is, actually, quite a small amount of weight, so be it. Slow and easy will be fine. It just means I'll need the occasional talking down when I'm having a rough patch, so I don't give up.

NaMajesty · 18/05/2018 14:38

Hoola I haven't actually been weighing because I need new batteries for my scales but I am going off my clothes (which are fitting loads better) a NSV???

DesignedForLife · 18/05/2018 15:10

Can I jump on and join in? My goal is to loose 27kg total, hopefully by Christmas. I've lost 2kg so far (seems very slow) doing 1600 calories a day but naff all exercise, life is a bit crazy at the moment and I'm struggling to fit it in.

Having a "good" day today, but that's because I was sick in the night and really don't want to eat yet.

BitOutOfPractice · 18/05/2018 15:49

I've just realised I haven't wished you a happy birthday quimster and I'd like to add that I think you are pretty fabulous. Always do sensible and encouraging and just marvellous Star

I'm at the airport drinking wine and eating chips. I have so not really-educated my eating habits Grin

BodgingThisMumThing · 18/05/2018 18:32

I lost 3.75lbs this week, after losing 4 whole pounds the month before. I have absolutely no idea what my body thinks it’s doing, but I’ll take that loss Grin although did have some chip shop chips after my spinning class last night, but it’s the first “treat” I’ve had in 2 months! Only ate half my chips and it made me feel horrible after Grin

ponygirlcurtis · 18/05/2018 20:59

Is it your actual birthday today Quimeister? Happy birthday! You will rock yours party dress, no question.

TheHoundsofLove · 19/05/2018 08:13

Happy belated birthday Quim !
Well, after weeks of dithering, I am starting the BSD today. In theory, I would be happy to lose weight slowly but steadily...but, all I'm finding is that I lose a couple of pounds which go straight back on at the weekend. I've had enough and am committing to the full 8 weeks!

FizzingWhizzbee · 19/05/2018 09:10

Happy birthday, Quim! And welcome newbiesSmile

I was 12st 7.3 this morning, which I'm pleased about as the inlaws are here but I still managed some restraint and actually had a good day yesterday. I didn't even drink too much wineSmile. My average is 12st 8.2, a whole Linda down on last week, despite a tough week.

I'm feeling so pleased with myself I found the willpower to say no to a delicious artisan pie for lunch from our local market, even though DH is having one the traitor. There will be some indulgence though - I'm having pizza for dinner as we need something quick to eat out before a comedy show we're going to tonight. Hoping it'll be fine as we're eating early and won't be drinking much.

ponygirlcurtis · 19/05/2018 10:52

Go for it Hounds - I have lost 4lbs on it this week, another 2 to get back to pre-Christmas weight.

That's restraint indeed Fizzing! And well done on being a Linda down. Smile

NaMajesty · 19/05/2018 13:56

What is the blood sugar diet? Could someone explain if possible? I have looked online but only found the books and a very mild description of what it involves. 800 calories for 8 weeks and something about draining fat from vital organs.

It sounds terrifying and very interestingGrin

Hoolahoophop · 19/05/2018 16:56

Enjoy your hols Boop and Quim happy birthday, rock that dress. Grin

Im just home after watching a friend complete a triathlon. He's a machine, regularly gets top 5 results and has a body of iron....does iron man as well, was on a high and looking fabulous and cheerful after the race. I can categorically say, dispite that, I was not inspired to take up the sport! Cake

ponygirlcurtis · 19/05/2018 20:00

I think that's one to admire from afar, Hoola!

NaMaj - it's based on research that low-calorie diets can specifically target the fat that gathers round the middle rather than all over, which can be dangerous, and fat around the organs. It can also help diabetics reverse the condition and come off meds by getting blood sugar levels under control. The book is really interesting in terms of explaining the science. But basically 800ish calories per day. I am not diabetic or pre-diabetic, and don't have lots to lose at this stage so I averaged 900cals per day Sun-Thurs - no refined carbs, lots of veg, protein and good fats, and lots of water. I didn't find it a struggle but I am used to eating low-carb anyway. If you are interested, the book is really good at explaining it all.

NaMajesty · 20/05/2018 00:11

Thank you pony! I will have a deeper look online to try and find some blogs or reviews.

NanBoleyn · 21/05/2018 08:03

Morning, another new week! Went a bit overboard on the carb-loading this week but managed to get through the half marathon yesterday despite hot weather and developing a cold/sore throat in the days leading up. Am glad it's over - now need to find a way of keeping the exercise going (preferably without having to sign up to another event!)
Weigh in this morning, 1lb down to 9st 8.
This finally puts me at the very top of healthy bmi for my height! Now need to decide on realistic target to aim for within the range.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!

FizzingWhizzbee · 21/05/2018 09:18

Morning, all!

I’m feeling reasonably chipper this morning, because I weighed in at 12st 8.2. This is less than a Linda up from my lowest weight last week, and is a major achievement given that 1) we had a big, sociable weekend including a night out, lots of wine and a Sunday lunch including pulled pork and cheesecake (though not togetherSmile) and 2) that it is a whopping 1.5 Lindas lower than last Monday’s weight. We don’t have any plans for the next three weeks, so I am hoping to power through before things get a bit messy around the middle/end of June, when we have a couple of weekends booked out for various family members to visit for DD’s birthday.

It really feels like it will be possible to get back to (or even below) my pre-holiday weight before then, which would be amazing –even if it has taken more than a month—

Great job, Nan - the run must have been tough yesterday in the heat, well done with your shiny new BMI

Twixes · 21/05/2018 09:19

Morning all, well done to all the losses and welcome newcomers! Sounds like we're all losing steadily which is great :)

Thank you Quim for the pep-talk and happy belated birthday!

Didn't do too badly this weekend but with a few days out I managed to drink probably a bit too much. I seem to have maintained anyway which is a good thing, the serious work happens mid-week for me...

Was just playing around with a BMI calculator, I have about a two stone variation for normal...because I'm a shortie I could technically go down to 6stone10lbs and be within normal range! Holy fuckballs that's light. Needless to say I'm nowhere near that and don't ever plan on it either. I don't think I've been that weight since I was about 10 years old in fact...

FizzingWhizzbee · 21/05/2018 10:29

I've got about 6lb to go before I am at the very top of 'healthy' according to the BMI charts - it is 12st 2lb for me. I could in theory go down to 8st 13, but I honestly think if I was that thin, I'd be at risk of slipping down drainage grids! My ultimate target weight is 10st 10, although I've got some intermediate targets too that I'm aiming at for now. And 10st 10 might change too, if (once my achilles is fixed) I get more exercise in and build some muscle.

Crikey, I really am feeling optimistic todaySmile

Twixes · 21/05/2018 11:14

I'm also feeling positive Fizz, I don't know what it is about dieting but something just has to 'click' in my brain for me to be able to do it. I've been halfheartedly trying to get rid of the baby weight since September but it's only in the last couple of weeks that I've been able to focus.

Goodbye jelly belly!

FizzingWhizzbee · 21/05/2018 11:18

I am totally the same, Twix - it could have been me writing that! I've been 'in the zone' since early February (well, apart from my holiday week, which has set me back I don't know how many weeks), and that is the best streak I have had in ages. I am sure it is having the support here that is making the difference to me being able to keep going/haul myself back onto the wagon.

QuimReaper · 21/05/2018 11:37

Thanks all for the birthday wishes (it was last Monday, sorry for the confusion) and BOOP that made me blush like a peony. Needless to say the feeling is mutual Grin

I did rock the bodycon dress if I can admit that without fear of reprisals. I don't give a sod if it was a bit snug, I felt a million bucks and the colour was to die for!

lastqueenofscotland · 21/05/2018 13:07

Designedforlife welcome I love your name! Manics fan?

Hoolahoophop · 21/05/2018 13:24

Go Quim Rock that dress. Grin

Twix I'm a shortie too and am always Shock at what is still considered healthy.

I didn't weigh in this morning, am cheating and waiting until tomorrow to hold out for a better average Blush
