Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

I'm sure sitting in the sun is good for you - don't be disheartened!

Startoftheyear2018 · 27/03/2018 07:41

Ugh just weighed myself and haven't lost anything. I've been good. I've had a glass of wine each evening but otherwise everything has bee pretty low calorie. I'm determined to stick at it. Hope you all have better news today.

Thisismyhappyface · 27/03/2018 07:48

Start, hopefully it will all drop off altogether later in the week, for both of us!
I haven't drank enough water the last couple of days. Going to make a real effort today, and no wine tonight.
My half pound gain has gone again, so back to Sunday's weight now.
Do you have a meal plan for today?

Stitchosaurus · 27/03/2018 09:28

I stuck religiously to 1200 calories yesterday, and ignored all the chocolate on offer at work - my reward was a whopping 0.2 off Grin but it is period week so any loss is good news really. Didn't do my workout today though, couldn't face it this morning (am on medication for heavy periods and am having a scan in a couple of weeks, really knocks me for six each month, ugh).

Loving the positivity and support of this thread, it's definitely helping me!

SundayGirls · 27/03/2018 10:12

Morning all!

Lucked congratulations on your 3lb! Star

Wishful how did you get on with the treadmill? I always fancied having on but I know I'd use it for laundry draping far too much Grin

runmummy wow.... 20 miles?! That's incredible! Keep up the good work!

catlover glad to hear you're on the mend, let us know how you get on with the weigh-in!

ocelot a pound off is still a pound off, not a maintain or a pound (or more) on! It's still going in the right direction, I think it's great!

nocrisps well done on maintaining your 2lb off. I find gardening is very effective for burning calories plus you get a tidy garden so, win-win!

Thisis it's really tempting to veer off track for good with the odd increase or too many social days in a row. But don't give up. I am the same as you, at the cinema I could eat treats for ever but would it help if you took some healthy snacks or even smaller versions of the treats you'd normally have there? i.e. one packet of revels (or whatever) instead of a big pick & mix, or a small packet of crisps instead of the big popcorn. And your own water Smile My local cinema doesn't mind what you bring in except you're not allowed hot drinks. but other than that they are fine.

Start I have days where I've done great but don't lose anything, then like Thisis says it all comes off at once. The hard bit is not getting disheartened in between, but keep doing the right things and it'll happen!

Thisis Good luck for staying on track today!

Stitch period week is usually bloating/water retention week for me and a dismaying 3lbs on, it goes afterwards but at the time I just feel like all my good work is being undone. So I'm very impressed at anything off let alone not putting anything on! you are doing fab. And well done for not having the chocolate at work. Great focus!

No change on the scales for me today so still at 10st 2lb. Hoping to see 10st by Friday. I was going to say that I am dreading the upcoming weekend's bumper chocolate temptations, but then I decided to think instead that I am looking forward to staying on track and achieving my goal. Smile

Today's missive: I will drink more water and do all the ironing. A bit odd, but ironing uses calories too (plus, it needs doing and I've been only doing bits day by day, a bit lazy really). Smile

Thabks Sunday

Avoided all snacks at cinema, and sat next to DD friend so couldn't pinch popcorn! Have just had lunch- soup and bread- not a perfect weightloss lunch, but not bad.
Need to plan dinner for tonight, planning a walk this afternoon.

Raines100 · 27/03/2018 17:08

Hi, please can I join? I'm 10st 5 and hoping to get down to 9st 7 ish.
So far I've eaten a bowl of Special K and a chicken stir fry without noodles. Dinner will be grilled pork loins, new pots, and veg. I'm also doing an aerobics class this evening.

Is anyone else not counting coffee calories? Just instant with a bit of semi skimmed, not a full on Starbucks, but I can't give it up! Grin

Thisismyhappyface · 27/03/2018 17:16

Hi Raines, you are same start and target weight as me Grin
I am counting tea and coffee, but not cutting down! Im having roast pork with red cabbage and apples tonight. Will skip the roast potatoes... I have about 700 calories left today, so might manage to squeeze a glass of wine in too!

Bobbiepin · 27/03/2018 17:45

Great run @runmummy, how did it feel? Keep off those big macs! Nothing decent there.

I had a terrible food weekend. It was my birthday yesterday, had a curry on Saturday (although our local curry house uses no cream/butter etc its not great) and almost a whole bottle of wine (first evening away from DD since she was born). So many people have bought me chocolate too, I'm not doing a good job at resisting. DD had a shit night so all I want to do today is eat.

catlover99 · 27/03/2018 19:16

Bobbie tiredness is terrible for making you want to eat. I hope you had a great birthday, and that the wine and curry were at least very tasty and worth it! Our local curry house does amazing curries, with lots of fresh-ish vegetables. I try to eat half a portion and then keep the other half for the next day, that way you still get your curry but the damage is not so bad.

I am feeling better, but still a little bit fragile - ears feel a bit clogged up and I am exhausted. I am on holiday from Thursday for the whole of the following week, so hopefully that will help me fully recover. BUT - good news is that I got on the scales and I am now 10st 8lb so 2 lb down! Only 8 to go. Breakfast today was a banana and a fruit yogurt (at work) and then a salad brought in from home with carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, tuna, butter beans and toasted sunflower seeds - very tasty. Dinner will be couscous with vegetable stew.

Start sometimes it takes a few days/week or so for a difference to be visible, and it can depend on so many things (time of the month, etc), so don’t despair! If you put enough effort in then in the end something has to move, think along the lines of an avalanche.

SundayGirl I love your targets today - I have not done any ironing for ages (the last thing I can remember ironing is my DS’s karate kit when he did his first and last karate grading, and that must have been about 8 years ago). But now suddenly it feels like a really good idea!

moreofme · 27/03/2018 20:05

Hi all, I didn’t realize that my weight fluctuated by 2 lbs during the course of a day! I am heavier by 2 lbs in the evening. Anyways good news is that today’s reading showed 2 lbs loss, but ...... had cheesy nachos for dinner today - whopping 750 cals approx !It was going very well till then.Consoling myself that it still ‘only’ added upto about 1550 calories.I feel much better in general , although it’s going to be quite easy to slip back.
I’m dreading going back to work and rushing around - will have to make sure that I plan meals ahead of time and do lots of cooking on the weekend etc.

Raines100 · 27/03/2018 20:42

Hi Happyface! I'm supposed to have 400 calories left today, but I'm a bit dubious about the accuracy. I'd love a glass of wine or a g&t, but I think I'll just bank the calories for a prosecco and Easter egg binge this weekend. It does work like that, doesn't it? Wink

Doilooklikeatourist · 27/03/2018 21:30

I’ve tracked on MFP and I’m on 1185 calories ( which I’m pleased with , as I’ve just necked a large glass of Sauvi B after a stressful afternoon shopping with DD who’s home from uni )

RunMummyRun68 · 28/03/2018 00:31

Bobbie yeah! 20 Miles.... I felt great! Til this morning.....oh my!

I'm overdoing the car loading again. Had no time to grab anything to take to work for lunch today so got fruit and sandwich from M&S

Hot cross bun at work.... but it's an active job and I walked round loads.

Not sure I can make myslimmingworld group this week. Work is full on and I'm in for 9 days straight A's a day off has been overlooked

Short run in the morning planned before work.... a speedy 5k I think

Everyone is doing so well.

Bobbiepin · 28/03/2018 03:06

@runmummy I bet! Foam roller for you! A friend of mine weighed herself before and after her last marathon and lost 7lbs doing it. She said it was all fluid and it was back on the next morning (especially after the post marathon drinking) but couod be interesting to do.

@catlover the tiredness is a killer. DD has just had a feed and is asleep in my arms. I'm enjoying the cuddles but hoping if I put her down she'll stay asleep. The rest of the chocolate must go to the back of the cupboard!

Notproudofthisone · 28/03/2018 06:56

Lost 3.4lbs this week! So bloody pleased! If I lose 2.8lbs this week I’ll have officially done a stone in 5 weeks, definitely going to go for it, so pleased with myself.

RunMummyRun68 · 28/03/2018 07:40

I'm planning lower carb today

No bread

No choc chip and salted caramel hot cross bun either!!!

Eggs for breakfast, fruit and ryvita for lunch and something light for dinner

Going for a short run fasted, no food first. Then work til 8

Have a good day everyone

moreofme · 28/03/2018 09:28

RainesOf course it works like that Wink
RunThat's a good plan.I am in awe of you ...Well done ....I couldn't run to save my life !
doIYou deserve the wine after the shopping ..you will be back on track in no time ! I shudder to think of shopping with my teen ds, love him as I do ....
Notproud Well done !

Hope we all have a good day

moreofme · 28/03/2018 09:29

Ugghhhh! The bold didn't work ....again !I give up !

oohyoudevilyou · 28/03/2018 10:08

It's only a few days since I started, so I'm keeping away from the scales for now. Enjoying the walks (aiming for 12k steps per day) and the feeling of lightness with all the fruit and veg.. ahem...travelling more quickly through my system Grin. Hoping to see a couple of lbs off at the weekend.

SundayGirls · 28/03/2018 17:35

Afternoon all!

It's been a busy time here - family staying over, I've not had a minute to myself! Good though.

runmummy great plan for the day! And I'm not surprised you're aching after that mammoth run, do hot baths work or are you meant to ice?! I can never remember! (I would always prefer the hot bath option though Grin)

Notproud huge congratulations on your 3.4lb off!! Doing so well.

moreofme how did the meal planning go for today? I always weigh myself first thing in the morning too. With no pyjamas on. And take off my rings. And breathe in. Grin

Doilook how did you get on with the calorie tracking today?

Thisis well done for staying off the snacks yesterday! Star

Bobbie Happy Birthday for Monday! Flowers Curry sounds lovely, you've got to celebrate some things! How are you getting on today, are you back on track?

Welcome Raine!

oohyou looking forward to hearing how you got on at the weekend! Good luck and keep it up!

I have maintained again instead of losing due to family visits. A bit frustrating. Had extra glass of wine etc. Back on track tonight/tomorrow. I didn't get the ironing done either - iron started spitting brown water all over clothes, it turns out a new anti calc cartridge was needed but it won't be here until tomorrow. Oh well, never mind Smile

Hallo SundayGirls
I’m on 1309 calories so far today
I’m a bit ( ahem ) constipated , as I need bread to keep things moving , and I’m cutting out bread , because of the butter and cheese that I like with it 😀
Back on the All Bran tomorrow 🤢

moreofme · 29/03/2018 00:13

Hi Sunday , meal planning was fine today, thank you - except (there’s always a but ....!) for a sweet treat at 210 calories, taking the total to 1530 today. So not manged even one day of 1200 cals yet in the 4 days since I started , but it’s still less than what I have been consuming.I am checking my weight both in the morning and evening , there definitely has been a loss of 3 lbs (evening reading) from when I started this .
Had for breakfast ,a 2 egg whites and 1 yolk omelette with some mushrooms in it and 2 slices of bread - very filling; lunch - a light sandwich - I know , bread again; chicken curry for dinner. Sweet treat was a bar of dates with nuts and poppy seeds in it Blush... it was delicious .A few cups of tea and probably not enough water !
Hope you are having a lovely time with your visitors.

Raines100 · 29/03/2018 06:31

Hi Sunday, hope you're having good time with your visitors. I think you're doing well to maintain considering you are having to eat socially!

Run how are you finding low carb? I also thought this would be a good idea, and started a couple of days ago, but I've found it leaves me starving! Also, I don't have enough alternative food in the house to replace it with.

Yesterday was a pink grapefruit & another chicken stir fry with no noodles. By 2pm, I was scratching around the cupboards for food and chugged half a tin of peaches and 3 slices of ham. I caved at 4:30pm and had a bowl of cereal. Chilli con carne for tea. I also did 30 mins on the exercise bike, which bought me an extra 250 cals, so I came in at 1350 calls with 100 remaining.

Scales say 10st3, so 2lb loss since last Thurs. Hoped it would all shift faster than this tbh. Keep telling myself I'm building muscle...

SundayGirls · 29/03/2018 07:45

Good Morning All !!! Today is FRESH START day for anyone who has slightly lost their mojo (myself included after having visitors to stay!)

This weekend is going to have quite a lot of chocolate suddenly appearing for quite a few of us. So my thinking is we have today, tomorrow and Saturday to make a difference. If then we do have extra on Sunday it's not as bad as if we'd packed in the healthy eating completely until after Easter, then it's hello square one on Tuesday. I do not want to go back to square one!!

So today I will not do any picking or snacking. That's what I need for today after picking and snacking whilst visitors here!

Doilook apparently vitamin C is good for shifting constipation. A small glass of pure orange juice might help?

Moreofme you are doing really well even if your calorie intake is 1500. 3lb off is fantastic. I know you can do this Flowers

Raines I honestly believe low carb suits some but not all. Maybe try having some weeks of normal carb instead of low carb and seeing if that suits better? Some people just function better with carbs as part of their healthy eating. 2lb loss is very good in 1 week. Well done Star

I'm on 10st 3lb today - the visitors eating (well the extra wine?!) has finally showed up. I'm not pleased of course but I'm not going to throw the towel in over it. I'm going to step up my game instead Grin Clean eating, lots of water, lots of getting up and doing.

Hope we all have a great day today! and I will be checking in so if anyone needs an extra pep talk, let me know Smile
