Hi Smile

I have a significant birthday coming up in 5 weeks time.

I really really want to lose a stone by then. I'm 10st 8lb now. I have been creeping up from 9 1/2 stone since autumn last year. I'm best at 9 1/2 stone, I feel like "me" and my clothes fit properly.

I've been snacking and being lazy. Buying junk I know I don't need. Telling myself I'm going to start "tomorrow" every day but failing by teatime. I really don't want to have this extra stone on my birthday.

Does anyone else fancy joining me for support/tips swapping/motivation? Apparently, if you've made a written commitment, it's 58% more likely to happen than if you only thought it. Or something. All I know is I want to lose this stone and a few buddies along the way would be great Smile

Anyone in with me?

Sounds like a plan Sunday!
I had a salad lunch and a short spin on the bike today, but also hot cross buns, steak, wine and cheese!
Am keeping half an eye on sensible choices, so had pak choi and mangetout rather than chips with steak, but still stuffing my face...
No guilt though, am enjoying it all, safe in the knowledge that it is short term.

Startoftheyear2018 · 30/03/2018 23:49

Thanks Sunday that takes some pressure off. Definitely too much wine atm. I'm trying to make slightly healthy choices, but not perfect. See you soon!

Narkle · 31/03/2018 07:34

Well done, Mrs Josh!

I'm another 1/2lb down from yesterday to 9st 9lbs 6. Craved a specific pot noodle - haven't had any pot noodles in years - and had that in the afternoon at almost 450kcals! So dinner were two scrambled eggs instead and I made fish fingers and veg rice for the child.

More exercise, only one sugary drink, reasonable portion sizes, but two G+T and an Easter bunny brought me to a grand total of 1650 net kcal.

Bacon and scrambled eggs this morning to allow the child to use the emptied shells to paint this year's Easter eggs.

Pythone · 31/03/2018 08:46

Hi all! Ate 1300 calories yesterday (trying to stay under 1400 per day, as per MyFitnessPal), which I was pleased about and was largely down to reading this thread! I've spotted a pair of really nice jeans, so am going to wait until I've lost at least 5lb and buy them as a reward.

I think the Easter weekend "holiday" is a good idea but I'm going to defer til next weekend - I have a friend coming to stay so we'll be going out to eat a lot!

Well done, Narkle!

Bobbiepin · 31/03/2018 11:02

Great motivation @pythone

I actually made it out to parkrun today and cut 23 seconds off my fastest time since having DD. No idea where that came from. I was so close to staying in bed, but I dragged myself out and felt good for it.

Pythone · 31/03/2018 20:04

Under 1400 calories again today! Almost fell off the wagon, but managed to claw it back (and put the butter back in the fridge BEFORE making a massive sandwich...)!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Notproudofthisone · 31/03/2018 20:17

I think the easiest way to get to a goal weight is to cut out meat and dairy. Lots of veg in tomato sauce for a curry with rice, not to jump on the vegan bandwagon because I love meat and dairy but the easiest way to eat healthily is to eat plant based. I’ve been doing it most of the week and I’m so so so full after my meals which include rice and pasta etc and eat whatever I like but am still losing weight.

SundayGirls · 01/04/2018 10:19

Happy Easter all! Easter Smile

A big congratulations to MrsJosh and Narkle!

I'm impressed at everyone who's keeping half an eye on their intake. I'm maintaining away at 10st 3lb. Just got to hold on until Tuesday (or tomorrow if I'm feeling extra virtuous) to get back onto it properly. I'll have 9lb to lose in 3 (ish) weeks after Easter, so I'll need to get my skates on... Grin

Notproud completely agree about veg intake as a main source being good for reaching goal weights, I think our bodies process veg so much more easily than meat/dairy.

Must admit I don’t calorie count, I maybe need to fire MFP up again.

I try to outrun my diet in the gym! Which I know is not good. I’ve not been at work for a couple of weeks and my diet is better when I’m at work as I take a salad and a banana with me and that’s it all day. When I get home it’s too late to cook so I have some toast. The last couple of weeks of being at home has not been good.

Done 2hours in the gym today and 3 hours yesterday.

mellongoose · 02/04/2018 07:58

Please can I join? I'm getting married at the end of May. Dress fits fine, but I don't feel/look my best. I thought I needed to lose a stone, but have been on two sets of electronic scales and it's nearer 1.5 stone Blush

Please can anyone help advise the best way to do it??! I've been mixing up toning/exercise with some low carb or calorie counting. Falling off the wagon. The weight is going on not off!!

I have a family to take care of so there's a lot of food and wine in our house. Please help me!!!!!!!

Lucked · 02/04/2018 09:08

2lbs off this week which I can't believe this given the huge Easter lunch and the whole ferror rocher Easter egg I consumed yesterday. Off on a break today to a hotel with all meals eaten in restaurants so don't know that I can loose this week

mellongoose you would probably have to do something like the blood sugar diet which is only 800 calories a day and it would mean eating separate meals to get to 1.5 st. With low carbs (no wine), exercise and sticking to it you can do 10-14lbs. Good luck.

RebeccaCloud9 · 02/04/2018 09:32

Ah I need to get back on track! Got 1 and a bit to lose by wedding mid May (got a wedding dress fitting and 2 weddings then and then my own in July). I did so well last year but hit a plateau and have been shit ever since. Help!

Narkle · 02/04/2018 12:45

Well that Lindt egg proved too much of a temptation and apparently I have put on 2lbs overnight.

Ah well. 40min on the bike this morning. Weather is miserable, but will take the kids out for a walk later.

Plateaus are normal. Frustrating, but normal. Hang in there everyone and it will get better.

moreofme · 02/04/2018 15:37

Sunday and notproud I agree about the veg being helpful for weight loss .Thank you for your words of support last week Sunday .I really don't know how long I'm going to be able to keep the streak of calorie counting going, but for now all ok.Not lost any more wt. yet but at least not piled on any more either. That's taking into account Easter and socializing ! Restaurant meal with friends tonight and then back to 'normal ' from tomorrow.Hello to all on this thread !

Thisismyhappyface · 03/04/2018 07:52

Right, back to work this afternoon, so checking back in!

Have put on half a pound, but all things considered, not too bad.

Daily goals
Omelette for breakfast, salad lunch, chicken and rice for dinner.
No snacking.
No wine.

Hope everyone is feeling positive today.

Doilooklikeatourist · 03/04/2018 08:03

Checking back in.

Taking DS and his GF to the rail station today , then toms of housework to do , before back to work tomorrow

Back up to 11-11 after a long weekend of socialising , chocolate and wine , and a soaking wet day at the seaside yesterday which included a pub lunch of scampi and chips

Need vitamin C , so lots of fruit and veg , no cheese ( nooooooo!) and bread ... that’s the plan anyway 👍

Narkle · 03/04/2018 18:55

Oh my goodness. I have just bought the ASDA apple crumble tea. I don't think I'll be on the gin in the evenings anymore, the stuff is amazing!

If you ever crave something sweet, but don't want the calories, buy that tea.

moreofme · 03/04/2018 19:37

Checking in again ...Finally managed to be within 1200 cals today and not had any bad cravings. So hoping to stay in this better place. Breakfast was 2 weetabix with blueberries with soy milk.Lunch 2 slices of bread with Philadelphia med herbs spread and 2 satsumas and 4 slices of mango .So probably too many cals from sugar but ...dinner was courgetti with lentil soup .

Pythone · 03/04/2018 20:12

I've been bad today - ate loads of pizza. Back on the wagon tomorrow!

SundayGirls · 03/04/2018 21:32

Hello all!

Well I really did fall off the wagon the last two days. All my self-help techniques went out of the window.

But... what’s important is getting back up and starting again, which is what I’m going to do tomorrow. Plenty of water (I’ve hardly had any recently, just cups of tea), some fruit and some greens.

We can do this, for anyone who’s wavered over Easter. Tonight I’m binning the half eaten chocolate eggs (with fingerprints and dust on, thanks to dcs for breaking them open and rolling them around Easter Hmm Smile) and sending dh into work with the unopened ones. The dcs don’t need to eat any more of it and neither do I! Same for leftover Easter fridge treats. Back to basics and normal eating. Come on Sunday.. (pep talk to self)...

@narkle Apple crumble tea? Seriously? Gonna keep an eye out for that even though I think it sounds like it should be disgusting!

Startoftheyear2018 · 04/04/2018 07:02

Morning all. Going to try and get back in track. Chocolate is soooo yummy though! Good luck everyone.

Narkle · 04/04/2018 07:31

Bobbiepin, yes, I was a bit sceptical, but the stuff really is amazing. I was actually on the lookout for chocolate tea for gentle weaning-me-off-Easter-eggs, though, so I may just be a weirdo in that department anyway Grin

Back on the wagon now. 35min of cardio done this morning, but for some reason I cannot currently bring myself to complete all the muscle-building exercises, too. I quite enjoy my bike, so I don't know what's keeping me back at the moment.

I have looked back at some old pictures. A few years ago I dropped 3 stone in 5 months on 1200kcal a day, with a bit of exercise. It seemed so easy then and I don't know why being in the next decade now would make such a massive difference to how quickly I lose weight. Or does having a child mess with your hormones so much that it permanently changes the landscape each time? With my others I lost weight practically instantly, after this one the pounds just seem to cling on.

Wishfulmakeupping · 04/04/2018 07:47

Everyone sounds like they are doing pretty well despite the chocolate temptations around! I’ve beenable to be good during the day cutting down on snacking but my downfall is still the evenings and 🍷!
Portion control is non existent at dinner time.
My Dh is on a diet and doing amazingly I need to get 10 pounds off ASAP and it’s not happening so far but going for a jog tonight with a friend hopefully that will kick start me!
Well done everyone definitely getting inspired on this thread to get on with it

SundayGirls · 04/04/2018 08:40

Morning everyone!

Fresh start today going well so far (1 1/2 hours in Grin) Cup of tea, glass of water, Special K cereal bar. I'm feeling all motivated. Let's hope it lasts until lunchtime if not bedtime Smile
