So, winter has us in its icy grasp as March begins but by the end of the month we will be lighter, warmer and, erm, slenderer!

Here’s a link to January’s thread

  1. Sometimes.

Last time I was calorie counting properly, as in not half-heartedly, I lost weight quickly, even with eating the exercise calories. I don’t know if that will be the case this time, I am older.

Not2bObvious · 05/03/2018 18:57

2 - never (intentionally) I’ve unlinked Mfp from my Fitbit so it doesn’t add in exercise & I don’t add it manually.
Sometimes you have to listen to your body, if you’re stupid hungry, not bingey/greedy/peckish then eat. It’s all about balance, I had to cut back the exercise at one stage - I was doing too much getting too hungry - totally counterproductive
Sorry feezles that wasn’t too quick Blush

Hoolahoophop · 05/03/2018 19:13

Hi all congrats on the job hairspray and I hope home feels normal again soon.

Just checking in so I don't loose the thread, and because I'm sat in the ICU waiting area to be allowed in to see dd. The surgeon has told us the operation went well, now we are waiting for them to stabilize her so we can go in and see her.

Kikisdeliveries · 05/03/2018 19:18

Feezles never but I'm also not a strict calorie counter. I'm a listen to my body kind of gal, though this only works if I do regular 'reset' days which for me means fasting or other calorie restricting.

Kikisdeliveries · 05/03/2018 19:20

Hoola you holding up ok?

BitOutOfPractice · 05/03/2018 19:42

Oh hoola I bet you can't wait to see her. I hope she's ok and a squeeze for you too

I'm a 3. I never eat exercise calories.

Not2bObvious · 05/03/2018 19:47

Doh I meant 3 not 2! Maybe that was my subconscious speaking
Oh hoola you poor love, such a worry. So glad the op went well, little pet having to go through that though - such a lot to take

slightlysoreboobs · 05/03/2018 20:34

Hoola hope you’ve had a cuddle with her by now Flowers

slightlysoreboobs · 05/03/2018 20:35

I’ve accidentally had nearly 1700 calories today. The DC wanted pudding and I joined in Blush

Twoo · 05/03/2018 21:02

’Paws getting over previous sugar addictions like chocolate can take a few days. I’ve heard people can feel poorly whilst transitioning from carb based diets to fat/protein diets. Hang on in there and all will come good.

Prep is everything. So for me I have in all the foods I need and forward plan if eating out. Recently I ate out at a restaurant and this woe was not restrictive at all. King prawns & salad followed by Steak, buttered veg and a creamy sauce. Ended the evening with a coffee & double cream.

I’ve not really been tempted to go off plan as I want to feel healthier and slimmer more than I desire any off plan foods. I’ve got my eye on a nice summer outfit that I’d like to wear with confidence and if I keep at it, I’m sure I will.

Twoo · 05/03/2018 21:05

Kikis’ I love cheese and eat some most days. Grated onto veg, meet dishes etc or to end a meal.

twinkledag · 05/03/2018 21:16

3 - never

TheDonald · 05/03/2018 21:37

I'm a 2. I don't eat the ones added by normal walking but if I do a long run I try Not to be up by more than about 300. I find if I do I'm starving the next day.

Hoola Flowers to you and dd.

QuimReaper · 05/03/2018 22:11

Hello all! Just had a catch-up but the thread's galloped so I won't attempt to address everyone but welcome Twoo and curl!

I think I'm on for a PB on steps today, between a huge walk and over 1.5hrs hooping I'm on almost 29k steps! (Even that only puts me third on the bloody Fitbit challenge though! Grin) Have hardly eaten at all so I'm kicking off the week on a huge calorie deficit. Keep your fingers crossed for me to see my "safe" kg bracket by Friday!

Hoola thinking of you and the family today. Please don't be silly about talking about it, it's what we're here for, even if it's nothing to do with diets Thanks

TheDonald · 05/03/2018 22:15

Wow well done quim.

How do I join the fitbit challenge? Is it a mumsnet thing?

QuimReaper · 05/03/2018 22:18

Hairspray you must be feeling really weird. I'm in awe of you. Do you think being mad busy for the next couple of weeks might turn out to be a good thing? You may find it useful to have lots to distract you from dwelling, and you'll be healing the whole time. Hope you're doing OK.

lasty please don't say that about being "friend zoned" having anything to do with your weight, that's the weight demon talking, it won't have had the slightest bit to do with it. Honestly, very few people can even really spot a half-stone weight difference - when you're 7lbs lighter the most noticeable difference will be you sassing around in some kind of sexy new outfit glowing with your achievement!

MajestyRoyal · 05/03/2018 22:25

I'd like to join.

Just a bit of background for me - all of my meals are home cooked from scratch with plenty of fresh meat and vegetables. I don't use a lot of oil (only 3-4 tablespoons each Sunday for the roast potatoes) so I don't deep fry anything. I mainly eat chicken not red meats, and all my sauces are made with lots of veggies blended in.

I think I would benefit from smaller portions and drinking more water. However the main reason I am gaining weight is because I snack so much. After I had DS I would graze to keep my energy up, which obviously was brilliant in the early days as it kept my strength up and gave me energy to power through the sleepless nights. However I didn't actually break the habit so I am still snacking and not on good foods either. I weigh more now that I did when I was 9 months pregnant. Disgusting, I know.Sad

Does anyone have any advice to help with the constant snacking? I am hoping that by drinking more water my appetite will be suppressed a lot of the time but if I am still wanting a snack I am going to have chopped up watermelon/cucumber/grapes in the fridge as they have a high water content and low calories. Any other tips or advice would be very very gratefully received.

I wish you all luck to loose weight and feel more confident and healthy in your bodiesSmile

poorpaws · 05/03/2018 22:58

Kiki I am finding this lchf diet very strange. I have spent many years avoiding fat (thank you Rosemary Conley) as I thought eating fat made you fat. I have avoided cheese for ever and it feels just so strange to not only been eating cheese with most meals but consuming eggs by the dozen.

I haven’t been hungry yet (early days) but after a breakfast of 3 scrambled eggs (instead of porridge) I am so thirsty all the time. When I’m out with the dogs and they drink out of a stream I just want to join them. Does anyone know if this raging thirst will continue?

Hoola hope all is well.

Majesty welcome, it’s very nice to have royalty on here 😀

newsparklythings · 05/03/2018 23:33

Hi everyone

Was on an earlier thread under another name but gave up and now back at nearly heaviest weight ever. 3 st to lose.

Have made a week meal plan with 3 meals, 2 snacks and costed it to under £30. Planning to sleep earlier around 8pm (or at least in bed) to change the routine of putting DD to bed then eating half the fridge. Also really should up the water intake and re-introduce some workouts - one thing at a time.

Am mid 30s and finding the discipline much harder to tap into than 10 years ago. But probably easier to get the weight off now than in another 10 years, right?

Here's to a successful month x

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 06/03/2018 06:11

Just catching up with the thread! Welcome Twoo, Curl and Majesty! And welcome back Sparkly!

Hoola what a scary time for you, I hope your dd is doing ok Flowers

I weighed in this morning 1lb down, no idea how but I'm taking it!

Feezles · 06/03/2018 06:52

Hi there Majesty and Sparkly! And sending best wishes Hoola.

Another half a pound up this morning, which is depressing. I really thought I'd seen the back of 12st 11, but apparently not. The bright spot is that our scales measure body composition and showed my body fat was down, which means it's all fluid. So here's to hoping I pee like a cart horse today!

But otherwise - it's all richly deserved after my lack of discipline this weekend. Onwards and upwards!

Softpebbles · 06/03/2018 07:28

Welcome newbies. Hope March is our month.

Not much to report here. Yesterday was good for me 16k steps ok food. Not a bad attempt to get my head back in the game.

However now injured and struggling to walk 😩

ponygirlcurtis · 06/03/2018 07:29

Morning, hello to all the new people and everyone else too! I have lost my mojo and am going in the wrong direction. Confused Hoping that a bit more activity over the next week will focus me and get me back on board.

Keep yourself busy for now Hairspray, it's a lot to deal with.

Hope your DD is doing OK Hoola.

TVHubbyClaire · 06/03/2018 08:54

a mixed bag of eating through the weekend, good days and some reasonable steps and then evenings were a combination of local pub, pizza and Indian. the Indian even stretched into last night and I am back at pub tonight catching up with a couple of friends Sad

Miraculously "only" 12st 3 today but I need to get back in the game quickly. Its only 2 or 3 Lindas until i see 11 and that will be very exciting

hairspray I hope new job goes well, exciting times ahead and not too long to feel weird in existing place

HairsprayBabe · 06/03/2018 08:57

Ok so I have devised a plan you were correct Boop lists are the way forwards!

This week - pack a small amount of essentials for nottingham - bedding, kitchen stuff, clothes, towels - a few homely things so I don't feel like I am in a cell.
Sunday 11th afternoon - move to new flat in nottingham
Wednesday 14th - start new job
Friday 16th - Sunday 18th come back to birmingham, continue to pack non essential things for storage
w/c 19th - back in Nottingham, work in new job
Back in Brum for the weekend, more packing sorting and cleaning
Continue this way until:
Mid April move things into storage/sell things
End of April deep clean house and hand keys back
Start of May - Breathe!

Back to diet related things: 9.6 still! Happy with that as it felt like all I did was eat this weekend!

Love life update
Also, got asked on a date by a non-scoundrel last night, guy who was a few years above me at school, as teens we used to walk home from school together for years and smooch a bit but it never really went any further than that... have always vaguely kept in touch FB etc.
I do like him always have so I am thinking of putting it off for a bit because I don't want to dive into something that might be something right away....
He broke up with his longterm partner about 4 months ago, so when I said it was fast for me he was really understanding... I think I will go for a drink and catch up regardless, I have known him since I was 5 so it is hardly a date with a stranger.... plus he is very hot
