Welcome to the new Valentine's edition of the best thread on MN™ where we encourage and support each other to lose 7lbs in a month (though that happens so rarely maybe we need to change our USP!)

Everyone welcome, new and old

I was thinking about giving something up for lent, for self control testing and diet reasons but couldn't decide what, then replied that it will fall over the time I'm on hospital with dd and figured diet and self control can go to hell that month as I'll take any comfort o can get.

No pancakes today though, DH isn't bothered by them, dc don't understand so I'll just stick to a hairy dieters sweet and sour chicken.

TheDonald · 13/02/2018 14:06

I'm giving up sugar for lent. I've no idea why I acknowledge lent. I'm a devout atheist. It just seems like a good excuse.

I might give up sugar for Ramadan as well to keep my options open!

Pancakes tonight and then I'm on it from tomorrow. I'll post a starting weight so I can track any weight loss.

I'm aiming to lose 7lb and hit my target weight of 10 3.

Feezles · 13/02/2018 15:04

Hoop! I LOVE that sweet and sour chicken, I have it only my menu for next week, and I am already looking forward to itSmile

Honestly, between you and PonyGirl, I have serious diet food envy!

Dieting challenges my self control enough without doubling down for Lent. I have precious little of it at the best of times, as DH would no doubt tell youSmile

ponygirlcurtis · 13/02/2018 15:09

Feezles - the lasagne is delicious, I have made it before. 😊 Might look up some of his other recipes.

HairsprayBabe · 13/02/2018 15:12

We are having lowcarb beetroot pancakes, with creamed spinach and horseradish. DP will have mackerel with it too.
I have made low carb almond pancakes for afters so am fasting for the rest of the day as it is basically 2 meals.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/02/2018 16:01

Hello all.

Now, because I love you all and I don't want to derail your efforts, I have taken one for the team. I have eaten half a M&S salted caramel and chocolate hot cross bun, so that you don't have to. That's me all over that is. Give give give. I only think of others

We are having Easy Butter Chicken tonight. Grown ups will have cauli rice, kids will have the real stuff.

I am manically focused this week - hence only half a HCB

HairsprayBabe · 13/02/2018 16:28

Thanks Boop we all really appriacte your efforts Grin

I bloody love HCBs and tea cakes and malt loaf and eccles cakes and mince pies.... anything with dried fruit and I am there

BitOutOfPractice · 13/02/2018 16:33

It was very very good indeed. Gooey and melty yet crisp and spicy like a proper HCB. Sorry!*

*Not sorry! Wink

Not2bObvious · 13/02/2018 16:42

boop I don’t think I can let you carry all the responsibility for testing the various HCB flavours...I may have to double check this one, salted caramel & chocolate you say? I’ll get my coat😉 You’re such a good example of selflessness

BitOutOfPractice · 13/02/2018 16:51

I know, I give too too much Not. It's a fault of mine

One of the few things my fickle toddler DD will eat is toasted fruitbread with lashing of butter. The orange warburtons one, for anyone that knows what I mean. It is basically a giant, sliced HCB/tea cake. It smells like heaven. And it is utter torture, every single time!

lastqueenofscotland · 13/02/2018 19:30

I haaaate dried fruit.
Not hitting the pancakes today (sadly) as tomorrow will be anything but golden (work breakfast meeting, client lunch and my friend is having a film and pizza evening for the girls Blush ) so hoping for a loss on tomorrow weigh day as I have been so good less a slightly hungover Sunday this week

Ofthread · 13/02/2018 19:45

Before is got serious on my diet I was having toasted HCBs drenched with butter and putting it into MFP. Shock

lastqueenofscotland · 13/02/2018 20:07

Though BOOP I've just reread your post... is that free from nasty dried fruit... if so I may have to just try one...

TheDonald · 13/02/2018 20:18

Mmmm pancakes all eaten. I finished off with a chocolate orange spread and marshmallow one. Grin

That's it now. No more sugar until Easter.

I don't know when lent ends but it will definitely be in time to have a salted caramel hot cross bun (or three!)

Feezles · 13/02/2018 20:31

LastQueen - I'm only a recent convert to dried fruit and I can still only manage it in things. I went on a quest to rid my diet of dislikes and this was one of the ones I succeeded with!

ponygirlcurtis · 13/02/2018 20:38

I am also not a massive fan of dried fruit and tinned fruit, fruit cake is something that I don't find it hard to turn down. When I was a kid my mum used to make trifle with fruit in only half the jelly. Grin When I say kid, she still does it today.

Anyone watching the new Joe Wickes show? I do like his recipes and his hair.

Not2bObvious · 13/02/2018 22:21

Not a thing wrong with having a HCB with butter ofthread once you’re tracking it and keeping to a deficit. Eating 10 of them with a pound of butter, yeah I’d say you had a wee problem😉
last I was exactly the same with anything with dried fruit and as for something with dried fruit and cinnamon, I’d be like pass the bucket! But I think it’s something you can grow to like with age. Like cabbage & brussel sprouts. Uck, I’m getting old

Not2bObvious · 13/02/2018 22:24

Just finished watching Mr Wickes, by he gets a load of new subscribers after this, he should pay C4 for the airtime! I here the plan is super expensive by the time you pay for it and then the food. Pomegranate don’t come cheap. I think I could defo go on that & ruin his perfect record😬 I can fail at any diet you put me on haha

Not2bObvious · 13/02/2018 22:25

Bet not by, hear not here - this stooooopid phone & my fat fingers

GlitteryPegasus · 13/02/2018 22:27

Hi.

Any YouTube workout recommendations? Preferably without the need of equipment.

I already do Pilates and stretches but I'm looking for some cardio too any maybe even HIIT.

BitOutOfPractice · 13/02/2018 23:02

Lasty I have checked the pack just for you. No dried fruit. Replaced with chocolate chunks and caramel chunks.

You're welcome Grin

Grump grump grump. It's official weigh in day and I am 1lb up on where I have been for days, despite having a really good day yesterday and a great week over all. I know it is just fluid (I can see that from the body fat % on the scales) it is just irritating. So I'm moving official weigh in day to tomorrowSmile

Boop - you're a trooper, taking one for the team like that!Smile

lastqueenofscotland · 14/02/2018 07:15

2 down! So 5 down in Feb in total. Have very little planned this week aogoing to really go fo 3lbs
