I need your help, I have been an eating machine since the beginning of December. I am getting fatter and fatter by the day and am so miserable.

Today I put my brave head on and got on the scales. I weigh 11 stone 4.5lbs. I am not very tall so I am barrelesque and wobbly.

Things really have to change, honestly none of my clothes fit and I only have three dresses that I can currently fit into. My jeans do not fit and are so tight I can barely do them up let alone breathe.

Please join me in sorting my fat act out.

Morning! Well, it's underwhelming news, but at least I didn't put any on.

Starting weight: 12st 9lb
Last week: 11st 12.25 lb
This week: 11st 12.25 lb

I didn't manage to shred yesterday, but will try to today - conscious that half term is next week and I might find it even harder to fit it in. Have started a big work project and also have both children's parties to organise for this weekend, so the urge to comfort/convenience eat will be very strong!

Hoping to find some way of kicking myself off this plateau - may have to make my dinners smaller or earlier or something!

Caggie09 · 28/05/2018 09:17

I keep saying im going to start over and i didnt. I weighed yesterday and the scales told me 10st 7Shock so its given me the kick up the bum i need.
Weighed this morning and im 10st 4. So a pound up, but atleast not 10st 7.
Making sure i drink loads of water too. Hows everyone else?

Dickorydockwhatthe · 28/05/2018 09:42

Hey guys, I need to join this thread I'm 5'5 and weight 11.11 stone!! I've become obsessed with food it's all I think about. I've been tired and stressed at work lately so wondering if this has had a huge impact on my eating habits. Can anyone give advice??

Caggie09 · 28/05/2018 16:36

Hello! Im the same height as you and this time last year i was 12st 7/8!
I always think about food, but i find if im eating when im not hungry it leads to a binge! Have you got a plan olon how you want to budge the lbs?

lurkingfromhome · 28/05/2018 21:42

Hello hello, sorry am late to the weigh-in. Weighed myself this morning and yay, hurrah, the plateau has finally budged...

Starting weight: 11 st. 11
Last week: 10 st 3
Today: 10 st 1.4

However, I’m away on holiday this week with all the dinners out that that involves, so I won’t be surprised if those couple of pounds go straight back on by next week. Still, nearly there.

Welcome Dickory, yes do join us. I think you need to get into the mindset where you just start eating for health and try to accept that you need less food than you’re currently eating. Different methods seem to work for different people, though.

IsabelleSE19 · 29/05/2018 10:03

Well done lurking! Do you think you did anything different this week or was it just one of those random things?

I was frantically organising parties all weekend, which I thought would be disastrous for healthy eating, but as it turned out I was mostly too busy to eat loads. So:

Starting weight: 12st 9lb
Last week: 11st 12.25 lb
This week: 11st 10.4 lb

I'm slightly suspicious as I had to weigh on a different scale to the normal one, but I will try and just say well done to myself instead! Just over a pound to go before I finally hit the stone weight loss!

Welcome Dickory! We have very similar stats by the look of it. I tried 5:2 but didn't have much luck with it, now just cutting out snacks apart from fruit/veg and trying to watch portion size, fill plate with more veg etc. It's been slow though!

Dickorydockwhatthe · 29/05/2018 10:37

Well done on the weigh loss guys you have all done so well. I've re weighed myself and am heavier then I first thought 😞 12 stone!!! This is the heaviest I've even been. I have also given up socially smoking us this may also have impact as I'm guessing I'm now turning to food when I'm stressed. I've also turned 37 so wondering if my metabolism has now given up on me 🙈.
My only plan is to stop the takeaways and eat home cooked meals, and to try and drink more water and incorporate excercise into weekly plans. I need to make a permanent change so needs to be achievable.

IsabelleSE19 · 29/05/2018 11:06

Yes Dickory, I've been having the same issues about not wanting to do something so drastic that I can't keep it up. I didn't smoke but I tend to reach for food when bored or stressed - basically I think we need to try and train ourselves to reach for something else instead. A glass of water would be good, or I love tea so maybe a cup of tea instead. Something I also keep meaning to do is to have healthy snacks prepared so I can grab them, like carrot sticks and homemade hummous. Convenience is key!

lurkingfromhome · 01/06/2018 13:34

Hi everyone, back from holidays (lots of eating involved - I did try to make good choices at least some of the time but I ate more cake in those 4 days than I've had in the last 5 months, alas). I did a quick weigh-in this morning to find that I've put 2 pounds back on. Hardly surprising, and I'm hoping that now I'm home and back on track they will just melt back off in time for next Monday's weigh-in. I can always dream... Today I'm drinking loads of water and will make veg soup for tonight's dinner. I really noticed the change in how I felt when I was eating bread and cake again - quite sluggish and actually looking forward to getting back to eating better.

Dickory, yes, no point going on some ridiculous drastic diet when you will only be able to stand it for a few months then will go a bit mad and just put all the weight back on. I think the three of us left on this thread have had quite a realistic approach - just trying to eat well, curb the snacks, reduce portions etc. I've definitely got a much smaller appetite since I stopped eating so much sugar so cutting the carbs has I think had a dual benefit - ie losing weight AND not actually feeling as hungry as I used to.

You've had a good week, Isabelle! It all seems very random, doesn't it? No idea what causes the plateaus or what finally breaks them ...

Hope you're having a good week caggie. Fingers crossed Monday sees a pound or two off.

IsabelleSE19 · 01/06/2018 16:55

Hi lurking - hope you had a nice holiday! Food is so much a part of going on holiday for me that I just can't be too good when I'm away!

Did anyone else see that programme on BBC1 this week about crash dieting? It seemed to be saying that drastic diets with meal replacement shakes etc did actually work, although reading a few threads on here about them seems to suggest otherwise. Took the DCs to McDonald's today so not a very low calorie day here at all! Oh well.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 01/06/2018 21:44

Hi guys, well ive had a okish week seeing as it's half term with the kids. We had a couple of picnics, I refused kfc even though kids had some, cut out snacking and I'm having fruit or yoghurt for dessert. I have had a few treats like ice cream or a packet of crisps but I've tried to balance it out during the day. I weighed myself this morning and I am now 11 stone 8 so very pleased. I know when I go back to work next week it will be hard as I eat when I stress.

IsabelleSE19 · 02/06/2018 12:01

Wow dickory - that's awesome! Well done!

Caggie09 · 02/06/2018 16:18

Lurking Hope you had a good holiday! I know i wouldnt have made good choices if i was on holiday so well done!
Isabelle I once tried the shakes and i lasted a dayGrin It doesnt seem a healthy way of losing weight to me. Your not learning healthy habits that way. Amd they are bloody rank!
Also well done Dickory Keep going!

Im having a good week, sticking to salads for lunch, eating plenty of veggies and drinking lots of water! Im really hoping for atleast a pound off. Atleast then its a kick start.

Caggie09 · 04/06/2018 07:58

Happy weigh day everyone!Grin

Its an early weigh in for me this morning, woke up sweating and not slept great as thunder and lighting kept me up!

Was really tempted to get a takeaway last night, to ''reward'' myself because i had a good week. I dont actually enjoy them that much and i regret having one after. So i had soup instead, really glad i did now.

Last week i weighed in at: 10st 4.
This week i weigh in at: 10st 2Grin

Ive finally moved on from that bloody 10st 3 mark! Meals planned for the week, feeling positive again and im 2lbs away from 10st. Yay!

Hope everyone has a good results too.

lurkingfromhome · 04/06/2018 08:17

Hello hello, happy weigh day!

Last week: 10 st 1.4
Today: 10 st 1.6

I feel ok about that given that last week involved a lot of holiday eating. When I was away, I did try to find a balance between indulging in lovely food and still making ok choices most of the time - eg I didn't eat any potatoes, pasta, rice etc., but I did have lovely bread and butter.

Also I tried to rein myself in with hotel breakfasts and only have small portions and I only had one cocktail each day and no other booze, but I did eat a lot of cake...

So I think trying to be a bit mindful of what I was doing, plus getting straight back onto normal eating has paid off.

Well done, caggie!! That's a brilliant result. You must be so happy at finally having broken through Grin. Together we are getting closer to that elusive 10 stone! I'm planning a week of sensible eating too.

Good luck isabelle and dickory!

IsabelleSE19 · 05/06/2018 08:08

Belated hello - was an inset day here yesterday so a bit hectic. Not good for me this week, but hoping that a more normal week will help me push on. Well done caggie, and lurking for surviving the holiday – and still enjoying it – without any major gain.

Starting weight: 12 st 9lb
Last week: 11 st 10.4
This week: 11 st 12

Might set myself a mini-target for motivation – half a stone by the summer holidays!

IsabelleSE19 · 11/06/2018 10:14

Morning - happy weigh-in day! Another bad week for me, and all the more annoying because I was much better behaved than the previous week!

Starting weight: 12st 9lb
Last week: 11st 12 lb
This week: 11st 12.8 lb

At least I know what I'm eating at the moment is fine if I ever get to the weight-maintaining stage!

lurkingfromhome · 11/06/2018 13:36

Hello hello. Oh it's grim here too, for no reason whatsoever:

Last week: 10 st 1.6
Today: 10 st 1.8

But I have been weighing myself in the course of the week and had dropped to 10 st 0.8 so my body helpfully put a pound on just in time for weigh-in day. Super!

Isabelle it has come to my notice that I'm seem to be at the maintaining weight stage rather than actively losing it now, with a tiny downward trend but really the same couple of pounds coming on and off all the time. But worryingly, I'm not eating a maintenance diet - still sticking more or less rigidly to the plan. It looks like this will have to be the way for evermore or I'll start to put pounds back on, Hey ho.

IsabelleSE19 · 11/06/2018 20:56

lurking the same thing happened to me - I've put on almost two pounds since a cheeky weigh-in I did last Thursday! Grrr.

It's this sort of thing that makes me consider doing a VLCD just to shift a bit, then return to what I'm eating now when I get a bit closer to target weight, but the prospect just seems so unappealing… Think I will restart My Fitness Pal. I have a feeling I'm eating more than I'm admitting, even to myself!

Caggie09 · 11/06/2018 21:43

Three in a row!

Not an awful week but im still 10st 2. No gain, no loss. Not to fussed, glad ive not zoomed back up the scales! (For now)

lurkingfromhome · 12/06/2018 08:17

Urgh. I've put nearly another pound on overnight, so back to 10 st 2.6. Will these last pounds EVER come off? Isabelle, maybe you're right and it's time to do MFP again just to see what's happening with calorie intake.

I had actually had the idea to try to get down to 9 st 12 or 13 just to give me an obvious psychological point (ie 10 stone) where I knew if I went back up to that it was time to get strict and lose two pounds before another 6 went on, kind of thing. But I don't think I'm ever going to get to 10 stone never mind a couple of pounds below!

Well done, caggie - no gain no loss is quite an achievement from where I'm standing!

Yes, please do join us! As you'll see if you read the last few weeks of posts:

(1) There are very few of us
(2) We're all getting a bit frustrated now
(3) We weigh in on Mondays and post the results here then have a bit of a wail/gloat about it

I have lost 1 stone and 10 lbs this year, though, so not much less than your goal, and it hasn't been at all painful (it's just these last 3 pounds that WILL NOT BUDGE).

I do vaguely low carb too - more of an "eating for health" regime as I only keep a vague eye on calories but I try to make sure everything I eat is quite nutritious, other than a once a week treat, and I avoid pasta/potatoes/sugar etc.

Let's see if we can get to our goals by the end of the month.
