It’s been 6 years since the first New Mums thread but this year will be the one where we get skinny for Christmas!

We’ve tried pretty much every diet going and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. This will be our year, motivation is high and panic has set in.

DD had a great party Rachey. Her Birthday is Wednesday so we are celebrating with family then. It looks like Christmas morning in our house already!

Your hen do plans sound great. What is the outfit you bought? I’m intrigued!
Definitely get the jacket.

What sort of extreme diet are you thinking of? Well done on the spinning.

Ha Sol.im definitely most comfortable wandering round in a ‘big coat’. Being so fat hasn’t really helped things along. I don’t see many thin sweaty people.
How was the diet yesterday? I’m not a football fan, we haven’t watched any.

I was really ill yesterday. It was a struggle to do the party and I had to go to bed for the rest of the afternoon when it was over.
I think I have IBS? Always had problems with certain foods and I’ve been struggling since I had those antibiotics at the start of June.
I still feel rough today so I’m eating very cautiously. Might be a good kickstart into cutting out the rubbish that is causing it.

How are you Pom?

Greenrabbit · 16/07/2018 11:20

I’m about that weight Sol and I’m shorter than you. To my shame I’ve been that for a year. I lose half a stone and then gain it.
It’s so easy to gain. I had to be obessed in the past with exercise and monitoring everything. With work and family commitments it’s difficult to put the effort into ourselves.
I’ll join you in losing 3 stone. Although realistically I need. To lose 5 and a half.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/07/2018 12:10

Six stone is my overall goal Green, but I'm focusing on the first three. Exercise isn't on my radar at the moment, between lack of sleep/energy/time and being so desperately unfit I'm focusing on food - one step at a time.

So three stone gone by Christmas! Are you in?

JD for the next month. And I found a cute bedtime Pilates video on YouTube that's for kids so I'll start doing that with the DC in the evenings.

I'm just so annoyed with myself. I thought losing two stone would get me back to a healthy weight, I'm determined though. I can't keep going like this, I know it will just get worse and I will become bigger. And I'm in my 30's, I'm still young and I deserve to treat myself better.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 16/07/2018 12:58

Even three is daunting! I’m in!

The first half of my thirties seemed to be dominated with pregnancy and breast feeding. Two years till 40. I need to get my act together or will never shift.

SolitudeSometimesIs · 16/07/2018 13:36

Yay! We can do it Green.

The early part of my 30's was baby centred too. I heard that dong Blurred Lines on the radio yesterday and said to my DH it reminds me of being pregnant with DS2 and he said "that was 5 years ago, it seems like yesterday".

5 years and I haven't lost the baby weight. That's what pushed me to buy a new scales. And now I know I'm far heavier than I thought.

OP posts:
Greenrabbit · 16/07/2018 13:58

The scales thing happened to me too. I was very upset at the time.

Racheyg · 17/07/2018 08:39

Morning all,

sol I had the exact defining moment on 8th August 2015. I weighed 14 stone ds2 was 3 months and I was determined to not be overweight in my 30's as I spent all of my 20's yoyoing.

The good thing is you have decent scales and your positive about the next 5 months. Jd works for you and (well I feel) it's not so depriving.

green our life's are consumed with babies and looking after them it's easy to forget about ourselves.

pom how are you getting on?

I didn't get the jacket last night, I will wait till end of the week and hope still in stock. My oh had a row this morning so not feeling great today plus I didn't sleep well.

I outfit I brought made me look like a huge disco ball, i think I have body dysmorphia but thinking I'm skinny rather than the size I am. I think I have to remember I'm not 20'anymore and that outfit would never have worked.

I hope this would make you smile GrinGrin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/07/2018 11:22

I hope you're feeling OK Green. Feel free to vent here if you want to. The playsuit is amazing, if you love it you should wear it. You only get one Hen night.

I'm on Day 2 of JD, I had a handful of the kids chips last night and a cup of vegetable soup yesterday so I'll try harder today. I'm 3lbs down already though.

I hope you're all having a good day today.

Pomegranatepompom · 17/07/2018 14:57

Sorry you feel upset Sol 3 stone by Christmas sounds like a really good goal, you also sound determined. Well done on day 2 of JD and your 3lb loss. Fab that Green is joining you. Big treat once lose 3 stone??
Sorry to hear you were ill Green What foods do you find triggers? Hope you feel better now. Also hope the party goes well. You also sounds very determined.
Have a fab hen weekend rachey The playsuit is lovely and I'm sure you could look great in it. Sorry you had a row. I hope you get your jacket.

Just been for a run, I'll weigh in the morning. Had quite a carby weekend though. I like to lose between 16-20 lbs. It's really slow going (I'm sure being in 40's is not helping).

SolitudeSometimesIs · 17/07/2018 17:47

Thanks Pom, I'm turning this negative in to a positive. Day 2 of JD food is gone and I feel great. You're doing brilliantly with your running, I think slow and steady might be the best way to lose weight but I find it really hard to lose weight in my late thirties.

OP posts:
Racheyg · 17/07/2018 22:24

green could you keep a food diary so you know what makes it flare up. My mum suffers from ibs it pretty much flares up with anything rich, carb heavy and fatty. But she just lives with it as enjoys Them foods too much.

sol well done on your 3lb loss. Jd really works for you.

pom well done on your run, I know I say this a lot but I'm in awe of you. I can't run and can't motivate myself to do it.

Have eaten quite badly today Blush but did a spin class and burnt 550 cals to make up for it Grin

SolitudeSometimesIs · 18/07/2018 06:21

Green I missed the bit about you being unwell, sorry. Have you tried a live probiotic like Udo's Choice, it's very good and great after an antibiotic. You can get it in most health food stores.

Rachey I think your spin class would have undone any food misdemeanours, have you decided to wear your playsuit on your hen?

I had a weigh in already, been up since 4 so I thought I may as well. I'm 6lbs down in total. I'm so happy. And that was with eating a handful of nuts and a bite of one of the kids croissants yesterday, I'm trying hard but I'm feckin starving.

Racheyg · 18/07/2018 08:11

6lbs is amazing sol I am going to do jd in the run up to my wedding. I have so many social things going on over the summer it just won't work for me.

I have returned the playsuit, it just didn't fit me right and really was clingy round my tummy area so I wouldn't have felt comfortable as there is no give either.

I'm running out of time so I may just wear something I already have a bling it up with some hair glitter and face gems Grin

Racheyg · 18/07/2018 14:41

Argh I've just eaten a double twix - I don't even like them that much Blush

Racheyg · 19/07/2018 15:22

Can't stop eating Confused I'm still none the wiser on what to wear on Saturday. Here is another dress I tried on. I must remind myself I'm not 6ft and a size 8

Hope your all having a great week? Xx

Pomegranatepompom · 19/07/2018 22:09

You can pull that off with some skinny pants!

Just on way home after wine and food i.e. No will power

Amazing on the 6lbs Sol !

SolitudeSometimesIs · 19/07/2018 22:44

I posted yesterday and it sent poof! Nevermind. I went completely off plan yesterday, but I reigned it in today. I went Mc D's with the kids and ate nothing.

That dress is awesome Rachey, could you try on some spans with it. You have great legs, I have the legs of a rugby player.

Pom did you have a good night with all the food and wine? I had salad and Water. I'm having some serious issues with will power, do you think it declines as we get older? We get fatter because we can't fight it any longer.

9lbs down so far. I can see it gone from my stomach, it's list that sticky-out look it had.

It's lashing rain here so I've spent nearly all day inside and I've not been an active as usual. I'm hoping to avoid wine tonight, it'll be tricky though.

How's everyone getting on?

OP posts:
Racheyg · 20/07/2018 17:32

sol 9lbs is amazing.

I'm really hungover today and I had a maccy d's Blush

You look amazing in that playsuit Rachey. Is the hen this weekend?

Feeling much better thanks everyone. Off out. Apparently turning 5 requires as many celebrations as 21.

I’ll catch up tomorrow.

Oh 9lb is amazing Sol.stay away from the wine!

Pomegranatepompom · 21/07/2018 13:35

9lbs is amazing Sol!
Enjoy your weekend rachey, I'm sure you will look fab whatever you decide to wear.
Glad you're feel better Green. Enjoy the rest of the birthday celebrations.
We're away for the weekend, I was very good Mon-Wed, but was out Thursday night and I've already had a scone 😳So I'll dekay weigh in !!

Racheyg · 24/07/2018 08:04

sol how are things going? I'm going to have to join you on the James Duncan train. Have just recovered from a 2 day hangover. Have eaten everything in sight.

pom where did you go for the weekend?

green how we're all the birthday celebrations?

I've really piled on the pounds, have had maccy d's 2 times in a week. And just generally being a pig. Have drunk copious amounts off booze to.

I did wear the playsuit with black boots and a s**t load of glitter Grin

Racheyg · 25/07/2018 08:52

Why am I constantly so hungry Sad

SolitudeSometimesIs · 25/07/2018 21:17

Ah Rachey a two day hangover is the sign of a good hens night. Did you have fun? I bet you looked fab in your playsuit, you looked great in the pic.

Pom how was your weekend away?

Green are you all partied out? How are you getting on?

We had a bit of a family issue and my diet went a bit off JD plan. I'm not weighing in because I will get back on track but I didn't go off plan too much.
